The atmosphere was calming the staff was very welcoming. I asked to meet chef Francis and even though she was so busy in the back cooking she made her way out to greet me and my friend. In just enough time for us to thank her for putting so much love into the food it tasted amazing and made me go back to Puerto Rico eating my grandmothers food. I took extra food home to share with my other friends. They loved her food as well. I will be back with more friends to enjoy your food thank you for being you.

Chef Frances & her wife were so kind to us. Sharing their story and making us feel at home the second we arrived. The food is going to make you feel like you’re in PR & for a great price. I’ll be back for the Guava Ribs cause those were looking juicy.

Everything is banging. You feel the love 100%—in the service, in the design of the restaurant, and definitely in the food. My fave part was the rice. AMAZING. I want a vat of it to bring home. And the chef was a sweetie. COME!

I’m new to PR food but this wasn’t bad and a cute little spot in a shopping arcade in Harlem. I ordered the coki and it was nice filling lunch - lots of pork - maybe a bit bland but super tender and I enjoyed the crackling - along with rice and a nice green salad. I’d come back to sample some of their other dishes next time I’m in the area.

Ordered from Cocotazo for a business lunch. Working with Chef Frances to select a menu that accounted for all allergies and dietary restrictions was seamless. Everyone at our office loved the food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cocotazo LLC, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that brought me right back to my roots in Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican food here is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I tasted the arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas), I was transported back to the vibrant flavors of home. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the pigeon peas added a delightful texture. The pernil (roasted pork) was tender and flavorful, a true testament to authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The beans were well-prepared and complemented the meal beautifully. The attention to detail in every dish was evident, and everything was excellently prepared. The meal setup, complete with traditional sides and refreshing beverages, made the experience even more enjoyable. The fried items, possibly rellenos de papa or alcapurrias, were crispy and delicious, adding a perfect touch to the meal. Cocotazo LLC has truly captured the essence of Puerto Rican food, and I am thrilled to have found a restaurant that reminds me so much of home. Amazing customer service, chef was super interactive, actually held conversation about her recipes and family Origin. Staff were very welcoming. I completely enjoyed my Coki Bowl. I can’t wait to return and try the guava ribs

It is very difficult to find authentic PR food in Hawaii so we had to visit Cocotazo on our trip. The service was amazing, the food was delicious. Go hungry and try as many items as available. There was plenty of sitting at La Marketa and salsa playing in the background really took me back to my childhood. Our favorite snack was alcapurria and our favorite part of the dish was the looooooove we tasted. My least favorite was the guineitos en escabeche (a little dry for my personal taste). Jugos de parcha y tamarindo estaban deliciosos! Gracias !

Was in the neighborhood and decided that I had to go and finally try Cocotazo. Cocotazo being one of my fave words growing up and I earned my few shares of them lol. Anyways on to the business. The chef and owner Frances is a sweet heart. She's friendly and just gives you that homey vibe. She runs the restaurant with her wife. I loved the decor! The food was gooood. We got the gallina plate, the tripleta, alcapurrias, beef pastelito and a chicken pastelito. The rice and beans were bomb! My daughter ate them up, the chicken pastelito had sooo much flavor. The tripleta is delicious it was messy to eat but that made the sandwich even better. The alcapurria was sooo good. Definitely come here try the food especially if you need that homey comfort vibe.

This is a small kiosk en el Barrio East Harlem New York. The environment and the decor is brilliant!!! The chef is superb. This lovely spot makes you feel like you are in your Puerto Rican Grandmothers porch eating her delicate and delicious cuisine. The food and portions are fabulous and flavorful. The graciousness of the chef and clients are heart warming and as her clients come to order all of them address you Puerto Rican graciousness. Thank you for bringing a piece of Puerto Rico to La Marqueta!!! Que Viva Puerto Rico!!!!!

Food: Excellent Arroz con Gandules: The rice was moist, and the beans blended well, creating an excellent taste. Chicken and Pernil: Both were moist and very tasty. Pastel: Properly wrapped in a leaf, it was tasty and authentic to Puerto Rican cuisine, reminding me of the island. Jugo de Parcha: A refreshing beverage choice. Ambiance: Chic and Cozy The open-kitchen layout allows diners to see their meals being prepared, adding to the cozy and chic atmosphere.

I love her food. It is truly amazing nothing short of great. I only give it a 4 star because of the portion size of my potato salad. I love it but the portion was a bit small for my taste. The tender ribs, the flavor in sauce and the absolute love it is made with makes everything all better. The chef is very nice and always very attentive. The place may be quaint but it really feels like home.

Cute place and very clean behind the counter where food is plated. My friends and I tried almost everything on the menu. Food is well cooked. The pernil was tender and skin super crunchy. The guava ribs and homemade sauce was delicious. The pastels were worth the trip. Service was fast, friendly and they made us feel like family.

Came on a friend's recommendation. The Puerto Rican flavors here remind me of food I ate as a kid. I ordered the Coki, rice beans, roast pork, tostones, and their Alcalpuria! Man is it hard to find some good Puerto Rican Alcalpurias! They serve them here and they don't disappoint. Enjoyed the Spanish Harlem Vibe, while I ate food that took me back in time... a good time.

Came here during the 116th Festival. Here goes my venting.... 1. There should be a separate To Go line, in addition to a line for quick bites and dine ins for more efficiency. 2. Get rid of that table that you have on the side of the register and get more Steam Tables to store more food. After what felt like an eternity, (an hour and a half on line to be exact,) I'd finally reached the register. $65 for two Coki plates, 2 alcapurrias, and 2 jugo de parcha. When I pay my food, they tell us it's another 15 minutes for your food to arrive to your table. Please make it make sense! What broke the Camels back for me was that my husband who had been waiting for about an hour on line, and who had taken a seat right next to the register which I suggested be removed was ask to move because the owners family had arrived. Now mind you, didn't ask if he was with a party, if he was ordering, etc... nada!!! And get this, they had food within minutes of getting there. I even heard one family member say order the alcapurria and just take them home. Like seriously, you have ppl waiting on line, who are eager to be on their merry way and enjoy festivities outside. Where is the Customer appreciation in this? I finally eat my food and guess what? Its not all that! Im not sure if it was because I had just arrived from the Island just days prior and still had the taste of the Guavate Lechón in my mouth, but COCOTAZO WAS MEDIOCRE at best! . It's not a restaurant im eager to get back to. In fact, I highly doubt I'll ever be returning . It was a one and done for me! Efficiency gets a 0 Service gets a 0 Food 1 Ambiance 1 Creativity with a Puerto Rican bodega feel, = 1 Total 3 stars

It is always a pleasure to come here. Chef Frances is awesome, bless her hands. She has passion and you can taste it in every bite. Her staff is amazing. Now let's talk about the food . My husband the Guava glazed ribs with arroz con gandules and I had the Rican Sandwich. Wow wow wow. The glaze on the ribs is amazing , meat falls off the bone. The taste of the Rican sandwich is to die for. Wow so juicy and delicious. This has become our favorite spot. Thank you Chef Frances

Cocotazo was worth the trip to East Harlem. It's authentic Puerto Rican food located in La marqueta. There were only a few other businesses open, but this was definitely the most popular. You can eat in or take out. The music was playing at a nice level. Chef Frances Roman and her mom were there. I ordered the Guava ribs, Tripleta, chicken and beef Pastillios, and El Coki. Let me just say that EVERYTHING was delicious. Chef Frances' mom was so nice. She served the food, made great conversation, cleaned up the tables. The ribs were "fall off the bone" tender and seasoned very well. The pork had the perfect crisp on top and had a little kick of spice. The pastillios were crispy and very tasty. Cocotazo is definitely a place you want and need to try. I promise you! Til we eat again...

Food took about 15 minutes. Didn't feel long at all, very welcoming. Arroz con gandules amazing flavor (greasy tho) pernil very good, juicy, crispy skin some of the best in NYC for sure. (Could use a little more garlic) I wish they had a signature mojo. Would really add to each dish, however they do have a garlic aioli. The beef used in pastelitos, alcapurrias and (relleno de papa seasoned perfectly, really soggy tho, maybe for sitting) Again some of the best Spanish flavors in NYC. I will return knowing what it "lacks" personally but that isn't a bad thing. Reasonably priced I would say. Come hungry, enjoy the flavors and don't grin at the total lol.

Food was great. Definitely worth a try. Flavors are on point. Food was not greasy. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

Amazing food and great price for the home style taste. Great great atmosphere very friendly and very clean. Definitely recommend it great place for the family and especially if you're looking for authentic cuisine to strike up a conversation about culture and history.

Had Puerto Rican food from Cocotazo tonight. Social media blew this place up recently, and let me tell you, the hype is real. The chef and staff were so nice. My gf wanted an Alcapurria, but they were sold out. The chef literally handed my gf the last one that she was saving for herself and told her to enjoy on the house. That's some good ass customer service. We got the Tripleta sandwich, which is pernil, chicken, and steak with melted cheese, potato sticks, garlic sauce and mayo-ketchup. Absolute banger We also got the roast pork platter which came with rice and pigeon peas, potato salad, plantains, and mixed greens. Mad moist and tender. 10/10, would come back again to try other stuff. It's also in the same little marketplace as one of my favorite brunch places.

Growing up part time in the hills of Yabucoa PR, the main dish reminds me my family especially the Dad preparing el pernil al carbón. And let's not forget the arroz con gandules...amazing. The potato salad with bits of apple, the salad and the sweet plantains, makes this plate one to enjoy patiently because that is the only way to appreciate the chefs cooking talent....

Chef Frances and Victoria are amazing. They welcomed us to their restaurant today with warmth, smiles, and comforting Puerto Rican food. The love they put into the food really shines through. We really enjoyed the flan and the tres leches. The arroz con gandules were yummy. The yuca was very enjoyable. We loved the salad. The fish in it was very flavorful. As their restaurant menu continues to expand they may want to consider adding some heftier vegetarian options. We will definitely be back for the warmth and the tasty, tasty food. What a great addition to the neighborhood. I love the chef's for traditional Puerto Rican food with a slight twist. You can tell they really put their heart into it!

Omg, finally I made it to Cocotazo. Chef Frances has outdone herself. The place is quaint but adorable with Rustic charm. When I tell you to get there early I'm not exaggerating. The line is long so expect to wait. Being my first time, I was not disappointed. Everything I ordered was amazing. The pastel as fresh and full of savory pork. The pastellitos were fresh and delicious. But the star of the show was her Pernil. I literally thought I died & went to heaven. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. My wish for 2024 is for Chef Frances spread her amazing cooking to all 5 boroughs

Such excellent food, tastes like home where mom held nothing back from flavoring her food. The pastilitos. Acapullye were divine. The beans were flavored like they're supposed to be, no bland nonsense. I love it here paid $53 for two meals with appetizer and soda. Left with leftovers. Delighted:)) chef was kind and welcoming. Felt like visiting the island with colorful paintings and cute boutiques.

The food was amazing. The chef Frances and staff were very friendly and helpful. The waitresses Victoria and Madison Jade were outstanding. I went there with my daughter. The restaurant is located at 1590 Park Avenue at 115 St in La Marqueta. This is a Puerto Rican restaurant in the neighborhood. I ate roast pork with yellow rice and pigeon peas and red beans and salad. And coco Rico soda. It is very colorful. I will be coming back for more.

The food here is AMAZING! Chef Frances is kind and thoughtful and holds great conversations with her guests. I say guests because you feel like you're a guest at a friend or family member's house here, you don't feel like a restaurant customer. If you're Puerto Rican, the food is nostalgic of old dinners with grandparents and/or parties growing up. It's not just a meal, it's an experience. I can't wait to go back and I highly recommend this little gem to any and everyone.

This place is fantastic. The food was delicious, I had the chicken and my husband had the pernil. Both meats were tender and full of flavor. So glad we found this gem!!

Christian and LGBT friendly business. Deliciouso Puerto Rican made from scratch home cooking. Great friendly couple that owns the restaurant. Unlike Chicago my own city in East Harlem, New York I definitely received Northern Hospitality. Mucho gracias con mi cortazon.

Ok so this place was on my radar for awhile. So traveling into East Harlem was something I had not done for quite some time. Arrived to a long long line people from upstate NY Cali and me coming from CT. It took honestly 2 hours for me to just order food. I must say I was impressed when the owner Frances took the time to address the people waiting outside that she appreciated our patience. When I was finally able to settle in and get my food it just took me to another place. Service experience was transforming Chef favorite Coki dish was killer top off with Cafecito and Flan wow so say that Flan was better than my Aunt's so saying a ton. Frances Victoria you have out grown that space and your next location need to be among the masses. The wait was worth it people less is more this place is a jewel in East Harlem!!

Found them in IG. First time visiting it was a long line and they ran out of food when we got there. Mount you, that was 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a weekday! Long Worth the wait.

This was some of the best Puerto Rican food I had in a very long time, it was definitely worth traveling from Queens to eat, the service was great as well, very friendly. I'll definitely be going back.
