Cocotero - Review - 7th Arr. - Marseille - The Infatuation
"Cocotero serves a tight menu of light, seasonal vegetable dishes to the sandy feet and bathing suit crowd—it's half a block from Catalans Beach. The prime location, combined with its affordability, makes it a rarity in Marseille, evidenced by the number of people hovering like seagulls for one of the dozen-odd picnic tables and metal two-tops on the sidewalk. Stop by for a glass of natural wine (€6 per glass, from €25 per bottle) and a handful of colorful plates to share before or after you go for a dip (they have lockers where you can stash your stuff). Thanks to the city’s year-round sunny weather, chefs ot Cocotero have a lot of produce to play with—in summer, caramelized spring onions might be dressed with yogurt and cherries, nailing the sweet-savory contrast, and pumpkin risotto with orange and leek is a godsend in cooler weather." - Sophie Friedman
