We ran into the place by accident on our way to Venchi and I must say, the BEST Cobb Salad I’ve ever had compared to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica delis! Delicious crispy chicken wings and succulent elbow pasta with butter and bread crumbs and homemade chocolate chip cookies which melt in your mouth. And the staff here are great!

Let’s start with the warm welcome you receive from Nella when you open the door, to the welcoming and cozy decor, after you grab a seat, you’re encouraged to find a meal that whets your appetite (for me? It was the lunch special 1/4 chicken, that upon consumption made me order an additional half!) The owner, Chris is both enthusiastic about the service you receive, as well as open to feedback. This place is great for dates, lunch, and with seating outdoors, you’re almost encouraged to take a seat, or at least a look at the menu. Believe the hype, the pictures, and the ratings. For anybody who hasn’t indulged in Chef Armando’s food, I have but one question: What are you waiting for?!

I was lucky enough to go to Brunch here on my birthday this March and I absolutely loved it. Everyone was super friendly and the food was amazing. I had the Chicken Quiche(it was delicious and tasted like a chicken pot pie) and my friend got the Eggs Benedict. They were even nice enough to take sub Ham for Avo since she wasn’t a meat eater. It’s small but cozy and in a perfect location! I’ll definitely be back.

Ate here easily with no wait for dinner on a Friday night. Nice since we are a family of 4. Huge portions IMO. Had 1/2 white chicken with green beans, another in our party had same but with swt potato fries, bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and chicken cutlet on Mac n cheese.

The chicken was pulled rotisserie chicken, all white meat, served atop a bed of perfectly cooked white rice. The portion was large, definitely enough for two meals for an average to above-average appetite person. Sauce was very delectable. Chicken melted in my mouth. It is spicy so watch out for that. Only comment is the dish could have had some vegetables for a more balanced meal. I will absolutely get this again (and likely for lunch next time since the prices are lower).

This place is so good. Awesome staff serving up delicious chicken with all sorts of complementary sides. Overall a fancier plate of awesome food than I was expecting! Plenty of bar seating and good beer available. I'd eat here every week if I lived nearby.

Came in for their lunch special of rotisserie chicken over rice. It was very tasty and the pricing made it even better. I also had their mint lemonade. My friend had the chicken sandwich and fries and it was all very good. Staff were super friendly.

Best place in tri-state.Totally affordable run by owner himself. Chicken dishes are fire. Strongly recommend must go there, it’s relatively budget friendly compared to any other Manhattan restaurants. It’s a hidden gem for friends and groups.

Good solid lil resto in the village. Ordered take out and inside is nice and cozy. Staff friendly and helpful. Food: got the chicken bowl w avocado. Comes with chunks of roasted chicken over rice w cut cherry tomatoes and a flavorful orangish sauce. Dish was very good. Proportions not too small but dense. Tad too much rice but I get it with all the food costs. I would highly recommend you try this place. Base bit, quick and healthy

Great lunch spot for $15. 1/4 dark chicken with potatoes and salad. The pesto sauce was a great choice. Really home-like meal, like a home-cooked meal. Really tasty. Warm. The potatoes were incredible. Nice service. Service was between fast and long, it took about 10 min. But I'm not complaining about the quality, so whatever it takes!

CLOSED? Their website is gone and phone has been disconnected. Too bad, their chicken was quite good.

On this spot, now a "son del north," once laid the best chicken joint in all of NYC. Why have you betrayed us sweet Cocu. Please come back. Best chicken, best sandwiches, great breakfast and lunch, best macros, best seasoned shoestring fries, best staff. Best memories with my girl. Miss you. Someone, please recommend something similar.

I always have a great experience at Cocu! Every time I have gone to Cocu, I choose to dine in and sit at the counter. The service is kind and efficient. I love the quarter chicken white meat combo. The chicken is juicy and really easy to cut/eat. I always get the string beans as my side and I love them! I think the homemade pesto sauce is delicious too. I could not recommend Cocu more for a quick dining spot in West Village. I have returned many times and look forward to my next Cocu dinner!

Excellent and relatively inexpensive fast casual restaurant focusing on chicken. The pint of chicken soup was delicious and hearty...maybe a tad salty but that might be nitpicking. The quarter white rotisserie chicken was Juicy and came with several dipping sauce options. I did the chicken jus but I'll try something a bit more flavorful next time because the skin didn't have quite as much flavor as I expected. The French Mac and cheese with bread crumbs as a side was really good, among the better nyc versions I've had. And for a side it was huge. One of my dining companions enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese. Recommended.

I was expecting the pasta to have cheese on this dish but this one was bade with tomato sauce. the flavor was ok and I enjoyed it but wish I got what I expected. Filling but wasn't the best flavor for me.

You walk in to Cocu, and the fantastic smell of chicken greets you warmly! Everything was so fresh and tasty. I ordered the chicken club sandwich which came with fries or a salad - a generous portion of each - for $11 My bf had the chicken over rice and LOVED it, i had a bite, it was very tasty and the spicy red sauce had a little kick! Will definitely be back for happy hour. Sign up for their email club and you get $3 off your first order and second orders! They also have a lot of outdoor dining!

This review is solely for the chicken over rice, which I love to get for their lunch special. The spicy sauce is like a hug for your mouth, warm and comforting. Chicken is super juicy, and the portion is very generous.

The best rotisserie chicken I've had that I can remember. The meat was juicy, skin crisp, and seasoned perfectly right in front of you if you dine at the counter. The amount of fries was generous to say the least - only wish there was more chicken.

Not your Costco rotisserie bird! The majority of the best rotisserie chicken excels at being moist and tender, while the worst is the exact opposite. Dry and leathery rotisserie is a complete and utter failure but it does happen from time to time and it totally defeats the purpose of having rotisserie chicken. Check the ones that sit under a heat lamp for hours at your local supermarket or Costco. (Ok ok, maybe the ones at Costco don't sit for hours because everyone grabs one but they are sometimes dry and just plain too salty.) For me, moist and tender meat has to be a check for rotisserie. What turns me off in for most rotisserie, is that it isn't well seasoned or one dimensional in terms of flavor being just salty. Cocu is the exact opposite, it hits a home run on the the seasoning all the way through and the skin is perfectly crusted with herbs and spices, roasted perfectly with no visible fat remaining on the skin. The quality of the chicken is also quite clear, definitely better than your average Boston Market bird. Cocu's amazing sides do not step aside on this plate. Of the sides I've tried, the roasted potatoes, cumin spiced carrots, macaroni & cheese, and fries have you questioning whether you want another bite of chicken or another helping of the sides. I couldn't tell you which one is my favorite because they all are. The fries are thin cut, much like your local favorite McDonald's but better. The Mac And Cheese is not made with your average cheddar and definitely has hints of an aged gruyere. It's been a while since I can say all the sides rival the main course on a plate for execution and expertise. Finally, the sauces are amazing as noted by prior reviewers, the Beurre Blanc, (White wine reduction, confit shallots, clarified butter, lemon juice) is exceptional. I also enjoyed the Chicken Jus (6 hour cooked chicken stock reduction) as well. I look forward to trying the Mustard based White wine reduction, mixed dijon, and ancient mustard in a future visit. The family meal is a great deal to try a variety of sides and sauces. I've already tried it twice and I'm sure that Cocu is going to be in the rotation of eats going forward for sure. Service is pretty quick as I generally order ahead online and it is ready in about 15 for me.

Delicious shredded rotisserie chicken and rice bowl! The default sauce is spicy Buffalo sauce which I'm not a fan of so next time I'd try the other one. But the buttery rice and the green flakes (parsley? Idk) were delicious and the chicken was so tender. There were only a few pieces of skin I had to peel off but it was so tender that it was fine. The chicken bowl was $15 and fries were $3 to add on. I'd definitely come here again and I'd get the bowl again but with the other sauce if so. I might even try a rotisserie dark meat with rice as the side, but you have to work for it more because it's on the bone Fast casual: you order and pay, then receive your meal. You can dine in or take out.

This place is INCREDIBLE. New favorite neighborhood gem. I went for the first time 2 weeks ago and I've already been back 3 times. Everything I've had has been so beyond good. The service is also impeccable, despite being a fast casual place. Highly recommend both the sweet potato and regular fries, the croque monseuir (trust me on this, the bread is baked in butter and it's divine), the chicken salad wrap (you can taste how high quality the chicken is and they give a hefty portion of avocado), and the mac and cheese.

Ordered half chicken with a side of sweet potato fries and a quarter chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken was moist and good. Sweet potato fries were very greasy. Mashed potatoes was good, garlicky.

Dry and flavourless. I ordered online and brought it back to my office. One bite and threw it out. Yuck. Just, Yuck.

Cocu is an overlooked fast casual restaurant in the West Village specializing in rotisserie chicken. It's the French answer to those craving the South African Nando's chain which has yet to come to NYC. Excellent rice, excellent chicken, decent prices. The interior doesn't really have the right vibe for a place that serves wine, but it's an option.

Stopped in for a quick dinner before a class in the neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised. I ended up sitting inside at their counter area and enjoyed being able to watch the chef cook and prepare food. Service was fast and friendly, I decided on the quarter white meat plate with mashed potatoes and beurre blanc sauce. The chicken was incredible, extremely tender and seasoned perfectly. I loved the intense herb flavor, and crispiness of the skin. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth, with the perfect hint of garlic flavor. The real star was the beurre blanc sauce which I highly recommend. Perfectly creamy and extremely flavorful, delicious on chicken or the mashed potatoes. Overall, if you're looking for a filling and delicious dinner under 15$ in the West Village this is the place to come!!

Cute little hole-in-the-wall spot near Washington Square park. Great for a lunch stop or easy dinner. There's not a lot of seating though, so keep that in mind if you're going with a group. I stopped here with 5 friends and we took up all of the only table they had indoors. Luckily they also have some outdoor seating set up. As for food, I totally misjudged how spicy the pulled rotisserie chicken over rice would be and wound up having to switch dishes with my boyfriend. If you have a sensitive pallete, you might want to stay away from that one. If you love spicy food though, go for it! He thoroughly enjoyed it. Because I switched dishes, I got to try the schnitzel sandwich. While I found the sandwich bread to be a little too tough for me, the schnitzel itself was cooked perfectly. We topped it all off with some glasses of frose

I've been going here for a few years now and it's become one of the few places I would take suggest to someone if they were visiting nyc and wanted something affordable and great around WSP. It's the best in flavor, price, and convenience. It's very fairly priced at 12-15 for a side, a sauce, and an entree. I usually get the quarter chicken with mac and cheese, but I got the croque monsieur with fries which was really filling. Their beurre blanc is always great, and their mac and cheese is one of my favorites. I seriously suggest going here if you're in the area and are looking for something good.

A very small shop with great bang for your buck food. They have outdoor dining when the weather is warmer. The owner greeted us and he was very nice and welcoming. One of his goals was to make good rotisserie chicken because he didn't know of that many places in the city. He has a french background so the food is very french influenced. There is also a lunch special from 11am - 4 pm where you can get chicken over rice or avocado over rice for $11.

Incredibly impressed. I was in Paris in the Spring and one of the places I wanted to go to was a true Parisian rotisserie. Unfortunately, not enough time to go everywhere but when I had come across this place (I don't remember where) and looked at the menu I knew I wanted to try it. I was debating on getting a salad but I really wanted roast chicken. I ordered a quarter white meal with string beans and shallots with the chicken jus and honey mustard. I also added on a roast potatoes not knowing how generous they would be with the portions. I got a nice sized quarter white chicken, tender and literally flowing with juiciness. (I probably could have gotten away with skipping the jus because of it). It was so flavorful, lots of garlic, thyme, rosemary. The string beans were amazing too, lots of flavor and they gave a huge amount, some fell into the chicken part of the container and they were soooo yummy, coated in the juices of the chicken. The roasted potatoes were ok, not crispy as id hoped. I definitely would try mac and cheese or mashed potatoes another time. Another one of my Door Dash adventures lol. If I find myself in the village I would definitely stop by and eat there. I ate every morsel of that piece of chicken, but most of my string beans and potatoes were left. I'd love to try the rice bowl another time.

We wanted a place with great food, maybe a nice drink and it needed to be quick before a show at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in the Village. So glad we chose Cocu! The quarter chicken white meat combo was excellent - super flavorful and juicy chicken with mustard sauce and maybe the best green beans I have ever had (with shallot confit!). My friend got the chicken schnitzel sandwich, which was delicious, huge and thoughtfully composed. We also got the excellent sweet potato fries, a yummy Frose and fresh mint lemonade. Everything was delicious and the staff was pleasant. Will happily return.

Wow! This was one of the BEST roasted chicken meals ever. We went there for an impromptu outside sidewalk dinner during our first visit to NYC. Half of the family followed their craving and got pizza nearby on Bleeker Street and the other half and I went to Cocu. It's a small local place set up sort like a fast food venue, but the food quality was way beyond our expectations and it was amazing. The menu has many offerings of different things; it was hard to choose because of the variety and everything sounded great. We ordered the chicken bowl with rice and the half rotisserie chicken with sides of green beans and mashed potatoes. This was comfort food that was so delicious. The bowl had tons of chicken with the best tasting rice. My rotisserie chicken was juicy, flavorful and seasoned so perfectly--and it was served hot. The sides of beans were also fresh and still crisp and perfectly sautéed. The mashed potatoes were buttery and smooth, just like homemade by grandma! The service was also excellent. Cordelia was genuinely friendly and caring. We felt so welcome there. The added bonus was that our pizza eating family members were able to sit with us because they were allowed to share a Cocu table! This was one of our most memorable and best casual dinners of our trip. So happy we discovered Cocu! We will make a point to return the next time we visit. Highly recommend!

Updating this because the world should know: there are few places like this spot in New York. An affordable, homemade, healthy, innovative restaurant in a fabulous neighborhood with outdoor seating and a talented, dog-friendly French owner and chef from France whose devoted to his independent business. Their brunch is the secret weapon, with their egg sandwich and croque Madame being the best in the city. The star of the show at dinner and brunch here is, of course, the chicken, but the way it's prepared across unique sandwiches, platters, salads, etc. is so fresh. The must-gets: - the half dark or white chicken with the beurre blanc sauce (shallots, garlic, cream, butter). Nothing like it. - their ratatouille and green beans with shallots. Dip them in the beurre blanc sauce and you've got a mix of healthy and divine. - the croque Madame with oozing egg and fresh chicken and avocado and bacon with white bread drizzled with olive oil - the fresh, warm, homemade chocolate chip cookie with sea salt - the egg and bacon and cheddar sandwich with shallots and this chipotle mayo sauce that makes it perhaps the best egg sandwich in New York, a total secret. Secret's out :)

I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich with fries for pick up yesterday and walked to the nearby Father Demo Square (which is really more of a triangle) to lunch in front of the fountain before the rains. The shop was cute, modern, congested in the way most places around the Village are, but it seemed clean and efficient. My order was ready when it was supposed to be, and the restaurant was also taking diners outside. Upon first glance, I noticed the portion size for this sandwich is awesome! The sandwich itself is pretty darn big, so if you're ravenous or you like leftovers, this is your spot. Most importantly though, the taste: Fresh chicken and bread, good cheese and sauce. The shoestring fries are seasoned and flavorful, or you can opt for an arugula salad. I'm excited to return to try more from the menu!

3.5 stars, more like. Food is good but not great, but the value... wow! Great fast causal dining spot. For just over $10 a person, you can get a hearty meal for four. The chicken was good and not dry, the ratatouille was a bit disappointing, the mashed potatoes were fine, same for the green beans. The rice, beurre blanc and au jus were extremely tasty. Great for a take out meal.

This is my favorite restaurant in New York. Half chicken with mustard sauce + green beans + sweet potato fries. What more do you want? I would eat this every single day.

If you're ordering for the firs time at this restaurant order the 1/4 chicken . It's more than enough for a normal 2000 calorie Individual. Their chicken was good but nothing I'd go out of my way for . It didn't help that the sauces they offer with the chicken were some of the worse I've had The "Jus" sauce and French sauces had no sorta density and little to no flavor to enhance the chicken . Thank God for their amazing Mac and cheese and string beans . Both of those I'd rate perfectly . Good Service is lacking here . Got no ice for my drink , menu was given after several minutes being seated and the food took forever to come out . I think it'll be better to order food from here but dining in was too much of a subpar experience for my liking .

Rotisserie chicken done right! One rainy night I opened up the fridge and realized I had no good food for dinner and that I couldn't find my umbrella anywhere, so I ran down the street here. I pass by the restaurant every single day and have been meaning to try it, especially since my sister's boyfriend was eating it the previous night and it smelled really appetizing. I dined in and sat in one of the seats at the counter that faces their kitchen. All of the staff were so welcoming and nice - love that French hospitality. I had the quarter white meat chicken with chicken jus and string beans. I was surprised at how long the wait was after ordering, but it was fine because I could see the chef meticulously preparing the dish. I thought the string beans could have used some more seasoning, but the chicken stole the show. So juicy, flavorful, and roasted perfectly!

Succulent rotisserie chicken, done the right way...and humanly raised, antibiotic free, free range, vegetarian fed diet! Have ordered take out a few times, but decided to pop in one day for lunch with my husband- such a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere - we at the counter. We watched all our food being made to order while we chatted up the owner & hung out with "truffle", the French bulldog (?) hanging out in his seat. The lunch specials were amazing...can't wait to go back! So thrilled to have them in the neighborhood! ********UPDATE 6/8/20********** Cocu is back open for take out, delivery & outside dining! Had a wonderful meal tonight with friends & family, outside. Friendly & accommodating service. We had Froze, Mint lemonade tea & chicken over rice (with the Jus sauce, not the spicy sauce it usually comes with) - all were absolutely delish.

I'm disappointed. I ate here before and never had a disappointment. Today however, pink chicken. When I called, I was told it's organic chicken and it will be pink and how it's fully cook. I'm sorry, regardless of being pregnant. That is raw. Their sides are always good. Just very disappointed.

I've ordered takeout through UberEats twice and both times have been really impressed. I've had the half chicken & two sides as well as the 1/4 chicken (white meat) with one side. The Mac & cheese is to die for. It reminds me of my mom's recipe and is a little taste of home my absolute favorite thing from here is the chocolate chip cookies. SO GOOD.

Yummy chicken over rice in a low key spot! While wandering around on a busy Saturday, so many restaurants were reservation only. Stumbled upon this spot that had some cute, clean outdoor seating and the food looked well plated and tasty. We took our chance and gave it a try. Our server was super friendly and easy going, not rushing our meal at all. It's a super casual spot that seems more commonly a take out joint, but I appreciated the cute cactus on the tables and cold waters for the table. We both ordered the spicy chicken over rice. It was nicely portioned chicken with a a creamy sauce with just enough kick to call it spicy but not too much that you couldn't enjoy it. (Just how I like it). Served with a couple tomatoes and plenty of jasmine rice, presented well. Pay inside at the counter. Would eat here again for a casual, filling meal!

I'm a bit of a hot wing connoisseur so I was expecting this place to have mediocre wings at most. Turns out it exceeded my expectations and their wings were one of the best I've ever had in NYC. Super tasty on the outside (love the sauces) and the meat was quality. It's perfect because the cute outdoor seating is very Instagramable and it's also an easy place to grab and go. The owner Chris is very easy going and a delight! I also had the Cobb salad and it was super fresh. The Mac n Cheese had a nice crisp to it and was very delicious as well. If I could give this place 10 stars I would!

Food was delicious. Unfortunately they have a cleanliness issue. I went there yesterday and the person who was prepping my plate was not wearing gloves and directly handling the food that would go on my plate. He was wiping his hands on his pants and using his iPhone while prepping without washing his hands. I thought I was being maybe overly paranoid or fussy -- so I said nothing. A few hours after I left I had food poisoning. This place would be great if they actually followed food sanitation laws. Hate having to write this review but it's honestly a bit disgusting.

Omg this place is incredible and we truly wish there were more spots that had a menu like this Everything is so fresh, healthy & made with love. We ordered the half chicken with 2 sides: sweet potato fries & oven baked carrots with cumin. It was damn good. We actually wish we ordered the string beans because they're apparently some of the best ever & imported from France! The chicken jus is absolutely incredible. You gotta try this if you go here. Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was pretty much empty so we were able to grab a seat outside on a beautiful night. After perusing the menu, we decided to go with the whole chicken plus four sides (carrots, beans, macaroni, and salad). The chicken here is freakin' fantastic! So moist and tasty and definitely a large enough portion to split between two people. That being said, the accompanying sauces were both pretty underwhelming. As far as the sides go--the carrots and beans were my favorites as they had great flavor and were good portions as well. The macaroni was also good--though a bit heavy and the salad should be skipped as it is nothing more than leaves and some basic vinaigrette. Overall, the food here was really good and there was a ton of if for the price--around $40. Also, this place is really small, but has some outdoor seating which is great on a nice day. Furthermore, the service was friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly. Not a bad spot to check out for a healthy bite in the neighborhood.

What happened?? The quality at this place just took a major nosedive. I paid $25 for a whole chicken and they gave me an over cooked dried out mess. Worse than Gristedes!! Not sure I'll be going back.

Cocu is a place you want to try if you love well seasoned food packed with flavor. Their truffle Mac and cheese is amazing. Their spicy chicken over rice is perfect. Inside is cozy for intimate eat ins. You can sit at the bar and watch the chef goto work preparing your dish. Or you can be hypnotized by the roasted chickens cooking in their oversized oven.

The food just wasn't good. I should have known it wasn't going to be good because no one was in there when I went. I got a salad which was small and the fried chicken and egg tasted old. I bought my husband the rotisserie chicken which was not seasoned properly. The only good thing was the mac and cheese. Save some money and find another chicken place.

Disclaimer: This is a MealPal review, so I cannot claim to know what their normal portions or food tastes like. This is purely based off of my experience with a MealPal meal. My coworker had warned me that the MealPal meals here are tiny. He told me he wasn't full and that meant I wouldn't be either. I didn't listen and decided to try it for myself. He was right. Cocu usually does 1/4 a chicken + a side for their MealPal meals. I had mashed potatoes as my side. First of all, the 1/4 is so small of a portion size! It's probably like 5 solid bites of chicken if you take off the bone. Second, the mashed potatoes were just...bad. The consistency reminded me of the mashed potatoes that come with frozen microwave meals. They also were pretty flavorless. Striking this off my MealPal list...

The chicken is overrated!! The skin wasn't crisp, the chicken was juicy, but bland. The mashed potatoes were light, not rich and dense. Also, if you're going to charge the customer a fee for using a credit card, that should be posted so we are aware.
