We stopped by to eat after a hike at Pinnacles national park. It was perfect—the food was delicious, the atmosphere laid-back and chill, and the service was efficient. The food took a while to prepare but that was okay because it was made to order. They brought out my almost 2 year old daughter’s plate first, so she didn’t have to wait as long. That level of attention to detail is what made this restaurant even more memorable.

Food was good. Authentic and organic feel. Great service and the waitress checked the table and took good care. Veggie fajita is their signature and tostadas was good too. A good visit. Will visit again on way to Monterey to Big Sur.

The food is always fresh and delicious and good dining atmosphere. Very generous portions. Called for a phone order for the first time the other day and no one was picking up then finally someone did and they hung up on me, called again and no one picked up. Eventually got someone and they said 10-15 mins, it was quick and yummy so no complaints.

Google
Carne asada fries were excellent. I'm usually not one to like nacho cheese on my fries, shredded is preferred, but here they do it right💯 definitely recommend to anyone looking for Mexican food it's hard to find good Mexican food up here

Exceptional and friendly service! The food is really tasty — 100% recommended. The atmosphere is welcoming, with the option of patio dining. Plus, the place is wheelchair accessible.

We came just 30 minutes before closing, planning to just order takeout, but they warmly welcomed us to stay and eat there. The server was very attentive and accommodating, and the food was prepared pretty quickly. She provided us with extra forks and napkins when we asked for a box for leftovers. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I had the enchiladas, and I loved the fresh salad on top as well as the flavorful fillings. They weren't drenched with sauce and cheese, but they tasted very authentic and delicious. My husband got the chorizo chimichanga and said it was unique and the best he's ever had! Highly recommend this place!

Finally stopped in to see what all the 5 star rating were all about . 4 pm Tuesday place was empty. I was the only customer, so I sat down and was greeted by Alice she said she would be my server and the cook. OK, she did not speak English, and I know a few words in Spanish, no big deal. First chips and salsa tiny bowl average at best cold unsalted chips. 2 tacos arrived carnitas and Carne asada. Homemade tortillas 3.25 reasonable flavor again average nothing special. Shrimp enchiladas main corse again nothing special Shrimp had no seasonings red sauce very spicy and only on the tortillas loaded up with lots of fresh lettuce onions and cheese. It looks impressive but lacking flavor dry and just spicy .I had to ask for guacamole and again tiny bowl and just average. I left full but underwhelmed, I wanted to give 5 stars, but honestly, I couldn't do it. The best thing about this place is the prices are very reasonable however the food did not live up to the hype.

Google
Amazing place! This is a restaurant where you can feel like home. Food is very authentic and veeeeeery tasty. Portions are generous and the host, Carla is a cherry on top. My glasses got a bit damaged and needed a quick fix. I tried to find a super glue in the store nearby but couldn't get it there, so I gave it a chance and asked Carla if she had any glue and if it wasn't a problem, if I could use a drop of it. She searched every inch of the restaurant and at the end, sent someone to buy it for me, without me even realizing. She did not want to accept any payment for that glue and gave it to me in case I would still need it later. That was so, so kind... Thank you for a delicious lunch and your kindness Carla and for anyone who's reading this comment - do not hesitate. Just get in and have something delicious ❤️

Yelp
We often go on road trips, and every time we pass through Soledad, this place is a must-stop for us. The woman who runs it is always warm, kind, and welcoming. This year, her son helped us--he checked in on us several times to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Over the years, we've tried a variety of items from the menu and have never been disappointed. This time, we ordered waffles and nuggets for our dog, and they were happy to accommodate our request to leave off any sauces. The lady remembered our 2 dogs from previous trips and asked what happened to them too. Very sweet of her to remember.

Yelp
Found this little gem when planning our trip to Paso Robles. Was a good place to stop for lunch with our pooch. Big outdoor patio! I had the fish tacos and hubby had the enchiladas. Delicious! Really great size portions too. Only issue was a bit of a language barrier, and table service outside gave us a pretty long wait due to that. Next time I would just order at the counter instead...which you could do. Would eat here again!

Yelp
Fresh made chips and spicy salsa were Delicioso! Fajitas and homemade tortillas were awesome!!! My wife said they were the best fajitas she ever had, which is insulting since I make fajitas at home all the time!

Yelp
We had the Double Molcajete and Quesadillas Mexicanas, and it was a great dining experience! The Molcajete was beautifully presented. The combination of steak, chicken, chorizo, fresh Mexican cheese, cactus, grilled onions, and peppers created a rich and flavorful dish. It was my first time trying cactus, and I was surprised by its slightly sour taste! The meatball-like chorizo was a highlight, packed with unique spices I've never had before. The chicken was impressively tender and juicy. The other meats were ok. The Quesadillas Mexicanas were satisfying, and the rice and beans stood out as some of my favorites. Their chips were also a pleasant surprise, it's light and crispy!

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican food! The food is so delicious, this is my go to Mexican restaurant in town. The owners are also very nice. They treat you like family. The restaurant is always very clean and tidy when I have gone to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best fish and shrimp tacos I ever tasted. The food is from the Guanajuato area of Mexico. The spices are quite different from Sonoran or New Mexican cuisine. We are so fortunate to have found this restaurant.

Yelp
When my partner and I met up with friends from San Luis Obispo in Soledad as a mid-point, we decided to try Cocuyo's for dinner, and we were all looking forward to it. Located in a charming house at a corner, Cocuyo's has a small, cozy atmosphere, and it operates more like a pop shop with only one waitress handling everything at the front of the restaurant. SERVICE The service at Cocuyo's was friendly and attentive. FOOD As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! We started with complimentary salsa and chips, and the salsa was fresh with a nice kick. We also ordered guacamole to go with the salsa and chips, which was good although the portion was a bit small. I decided to try three different tacos with carnitas, carne asada, and chorizo. The homemade white corn tortillas were incredibly fresh and flavorful. Our friends enjoyed their fajitas, chimichanga, and pambazo sandwiches as well. Overall, if you happen to be driving through, I highly recommend stopping at Cocuyo's for some delicious Mexican food.

Yelp
This place still does not disappoint. Prices have gone up but only kept up with inflation and still remain very reasonable. The hospitality is homey and welcoming. The food is authentic and tasty. There isn't really anything I could suggest as an improvement because the staff seem to genuinely care and cater to your every need. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch while driving from the Bay Area to Paso. Best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The chips and salsa are perfectly crisp and spicy. We had tacos, the flautas and my son had chicken tenders with pancakes. Everything down to the pancakes was outstanding. The restaurant itself has a cozy feel and is casual. Service is friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
A bit of a hole in the wall place, but the food was really good. Complimentary chips & salsa to start... chips are light and crisp with a medium spicy red salsa. We ordered... * Chicken Enchilada -- Quite tasty chicken filling, and sauce dipped tortilla rolls. Roasted peppers on top. Cones with Spanish Rice & Pinto Beans. * Fish Tacos -- Perfectly seasoned grilled fish chunks in fresh hot flour tortillas, cabbage slaw & a creamy chipotle (?) sauce. Nice pet friendly patio. Great stop for lunch if you are in the area.

Yelp
On the way home from Carmel, we needed to find a spot to eat and luckily came across this place. Service was friendly and attentive. We got the bacon breakfast burrito which was yummm. We also got the tacos which were generously filled with meat. We also enjoyed the homemade tortillas. This is also a very kid friendly place.

Tippy R.

Yelp
Very tasty authentic Mexican food and a reasonable price. Place looks very old and not very neat but food compensates for it.

Yelp
We had a really great burrito--FRESH ingredients, grilled on the outside, homemade salsa. The waitresses were very sweet. Nice, charming atmosphere. Great pico de gallo with lots of lime and cucumber in it (unusual but really good). Would def come again. Close to the 101, too!

Yelp
This was definitely not the best, yet had some redeeming features. The tacos came with either regular tortillas or homemade tortillas, definitely go with the homemade ones, made all the difference, added to the overall flavor and texture. There was also an order of chicken enchiladas, not great, just meh; there was little to flavor as to the sauce over the enchiladas, the chicken was cubed, not shredded; just not at all to my liking. The waitress was cordial. The place was a dive; i.e., there were dishes on a table that should have been cleared when folks left, as no one was there when we arrived. The bathroom was in need of paper towels or something by which to dry one's hands. It could also use a little paint or cleaning or something. So nope won't be going back.

Yelp
Food was DELICIOUS. Wish I came through Soledad more often!! I had the huevos rancheros; hubby had a chicken quesadilla. Both excellent. Terrific service, too.

Yelp
Food is homemade and DELICIOUS Service is excellent Ambiance is homey Highly recommend Won't disappoint

Yelp
We ordered the veggie enchiladas with red sauce -- very good! They were filled with potatoes and peppers. The sauce was so good! And the tortillas are homemade. Yum! The chips and salsa are homemade and very good too. I would go back if I could, but we were just passing through town for one day. If you're in Soledad and you see a lot of Mexican restaurants, pick this one like I did!
google avatar

Edward S.

Yelp
First, the chip's and salsa are amazing. The chile relleno was the best I've ever had. So fresh. The shrimp taco and vegetarian enchilada were equally good. Cute old house and great place for our dog to sit out front while we ate.

Anne D.

Yelp
Delicious, homemade food. Fresh chips and homemade corn tortillas. We ordered shrimp fajitas, wet burrito, regular burrito and everything was fabulous!

Valerie V.

Yelp
The worst Mexican food. Chili Relleno was served with green bell peppers as a sauce. Beans, rice tasteless. No flavor. Bathrooms are dirty. I'm convinced they do not know how to cook.
google avatar

Christine A.

Yelp
On the way home from Monterey we stopped for some lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was good. I had a sandwich covered in sauce and it was tasty. The other folks in my group had the quesadilla tacos and pupusa. They both liked their meals. One commented that the beans were really good. The only reason for the 4 stars are because the amount of flys inside was a little concerning. Granted though, it is an at town and I'm sure there are lots of flys around.

Yelp
Glad we stopped in Soledad! What a treasure of a place. Home cooked food with a smile. Nicely presented and customizable-sub salad for rice and beans. Salsa is tasty and has a good kick. Guacamole -asked for no onions- was lovely. Caldo de res had perfect seasoning, sometimes it can be too salty, not here! Lots of beef, tender and piping hot. Service was attentive and friendly. Tables were clean and plenty of room to be comfortable. Nice and cool in the restaurant. This should be a pit stop if you're passing by.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding Mexican restaurant! The reviews were seemingly unbelievable here. An average of 5 stars out of nearly 100 reviews...I had to see for myself. The numbers don't lie. For anyone following my reviews of Mexican restaurants, you know I love chile rellenos. The one I had here is hands down, far and away, the best I've ever had. So fresh! Crunchy due to freshness, but soft enough to slice up and put on the softest, most supple, pillowy house-made tortillas ever. And the house hot sauce, ooooh! Anytime I'm in the area of Soledad, I'm coming back here. Not to discount the service or pricing here. Both of those were outstanding as well. The server was the only one working the (small) dining room but she was doing great. Food came fast as did chips and wonderful salsa as an appetizer. Two entrees were barely over $30 with tip. Amazing.

Ducky R.

Yelp
The food is so fresh and delicious. I had the asada and pastor tacos without any salsa and it was the best tacos I've ever had!
google avatar

E R.

Yelp
Ten stars. Tripitas was delicious, great slightly chewy texture, home made tortilla. Al pastor was finely Chopped and sauced. But the fish taco was awesome. Cooked perfectly, well seasoned. 3 was perfect. Definitely order the home made tortillas. Wife ordered the Chile rellenos.

Kaylee B.

Yelp
Amazing service and the best Mexican food I've had ever in California. I've been from San deigo to SF and this place nailed it

Clydell H.

Yelp
Sorry the food was not as flavorful as we hoped. The chips and salsa were very tasty!
google avatar

Bryan L.

Yelp
GREAT VALUE. Very nice service, very friendly Complimentary chips and salsa (home made) was tasty, and a little kick to the red , very yummy I got the super burrito with chicken. Felt fresh and clean , good size and great deal. Could turn up the seasoning a pinch, or maybe a little saucier, but with a little tap atop and the salsa here I was happy My lady had 2 tacos one chicken and on pastor , she liked the Al pastor the best, and she ate all the chips and salsa Environment could use a face lift , but the food was made with love and if you're looking for a quick affordable lunch stop this is it.

Heidi P.

Yelp
Breakfast burritos were delicious!! Very friendly staff :) Hidden little gem in Soledad. Will def be stopping again when we come through.

Yelp
I found this randomly during our family road trip. It was dinner time and we were starving. This eatery was located on the corner of a dimly lit street. It was smaller than I thought it'd be. The floors were a little creaky and the interior was bit drafty. Business must be great because several tables were taken. We were warmly welcomed and immediately attended to. This definitely had a family-owned restaurant vibe - I'm all for that! My family took a while to peruse the menu and decide what to order. The lady was very patient and helpful with us. Little things like that make a huge difference. I wanted something that wasn't on the menu and asked if they could put together a plate with carnitas, rice, beans, and guacamole. She made it happen. It was silent at our table for a few minutes while we ate. That says something. Everyone enjoyed the food and left satisfied!

Yelp
We stopped here on our way back to Bay Area during our roadtrip. It's a small restaurant with indoor & outdoor seatings and a small bar. We went on Sunday afternoon (around 1pm) and was seated immediately. We ordered fried tilapia, pambasos with beef, and guacamole. The free salsa was delicious and good amount of spiciness - perfect compliment to the crispy chips. The lady who took our order was kind enough to play Cocomelon to entertain for my kid. It took quite some times to get our food but we didn't mind because everything tasted fresh & good! The portions were big for the price. My hubby got the fried tilapia. The fish was crispy and cooked perfectly. He liked the beans and said it was flavorful. He was super stuffed and had to take home half of it. I never had pambasos before so I didn't really know what to expect. My pambasos was huge and filled with lots of filling. The bread was actually dipped in sauce and then grilled which made it super flavorful! The beef inside was chopped into small pieces and yet so flavorful (and had a hint of smokiness). The sour cream brought brightness to the dish. I was also stuffed and had to brought half home. The guacamole was good and fresh. Overall, it tasted authentic and a good restaurant when you're in the area.

Yelp
We found this spot a few months back and I could not wait to go back. We hiked Pinnacles today the stopped by for breakfast. So good! The people are great, helpful and open to modifications. Veggie breakfast burrito and Chilaquiles for the win.

Yelp
Wow! Just had the best tacos we've ever had! I had one with Carne Asada and one with Pollo, my husband had one with Carnitas and the other with Pollo. Definitely worth paying extra for homemade tortillas!! The service was very friendly and fantastic. Can't wait to come back on our way home from Pismo Beach! Minus one star for restroom needing a good cleaning.

Gloria K.

Yelp
This place is so cute and the food is delicious. Our waitress, Carla is amazing! She hustles and is very sweet. If your near Soledad, stop by! You won't regret it.

D W.

Yelp
The tacos are great!!! The person that waited on us was awesome. She placed our order immediately and followed up many times to make sure we had everything we need and that we like the food. It is in a little blue house type of building. It took us a few minutes to figure out where it was. Highly recommend this place.

Kalyan S.

Yelp
Exceptional food, great service, homey ambiance. Highly recommend Cocuyo's as a stop on the way from the Bay Area to Paso Robles or beyond. There is a EV charger next door too.

Jane S.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with the most amazing tacos!! Red salsa was too spicy so I opted for green which was delicious!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
This place is so authentic, fresh, and delicious!! I had the albondigas, they are traditional to Guanajuato, which is different than I'm used to. The broth was thicker and made with tomatoes, but it's full of amazing flavors a and smells. The albondigas were so full of flavor as well. Everything comes with homemade tortillas. Try this place. It will not disappoint. The only thing is that is you order a soup, it's made fresh so it's a 25 min wait. If you have the time, it's worth it. Can't wait to try the chicharrón with chile rojo. I'll post an update.

Yelp
Wonderful pit stop for lunch during a road trip. Authentic Mexican cuisine, friendly and professional service, extensive kids' menu, reasonably priced, and shaded porch wh ample seating that is dog friendly. We look forward to returning!
google avatar

Rena P.

Yelp
The service was less than satisfactory. The waitress was nice but she wasn't attentive. The omelette was greasy and covered with too much cheese. The $3.50 coffee was not drinkable. If you're looking for a greasy breakfast, this place is for you.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Wow, what a treat we came across heading back to LA from Big Sur. I've had my share of Mexican back in socal and this spot was delicious. Loved the fresh chips and salsa.
google avatar

Korina S.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way to Pinnacles NP and what a good choice it was. The owner was so kind and hospitable, very accomodating to our toddler. We ordered the mixed fajitas and shrimp tostada more than enough for a family of 2 1/2. This place is cute with plenty of outdoor seating in shade. Definitely reccomend if you're passing by and want a delicious meal with great service

Miguel C.

Yelp
Very tasty food and the owner is awesome. I ordered the Molcajete and everything was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is excellent. Service was good and Ambiance was nice and homely. Would rate 5/5.

Yelp
We found this place on Yelp while passing through Soledad. They had a couple unique presentations that made us stop and try them out. The first thing you try at most Mexican restaurants is the salsa, right? Sometimes that alone can make or break a place. Bit here, though. Man, I'm still trying to figure out how they make it. It's so good, we bought some to take home. We had: Tlayudas - totally loaded with a variety of delicious meat, black beans, cheese, tomato slices, nopales etc. delicious and enough to feed 3 or 4 people Torta - we got Al pastor. Loaded with avocado, tomato, lettuce and we asked for grilled chiles. The bolilo is perfect; not too hard or too soft. Flavors galore! Must try it! Chicken chimichanga - this presentation was different. The chicken was full of flavor and was juicy. Nice melty cheese. It's making me hungry thinking about it again .... The "wet torta" - I cannot think of the name of this torta but the bolilo is dipped in a red sauce and grilled. Its texture was not soggy like you'd think. It was topped with queso fresco and man I want another bite of that These guys know what they're doing. The food is fire! Service is friendly and if I lived closer I'd be there often.

Yelp
I have died and been resurrected. This may be the best soup I have ever slurped down. I ordered the albondigas, I am requesting this dish be laid next to my grave when I die. If it were possible for me to live across the street and eat here every day I would.

Connie W.

Yelp
It was great food & good service too! We had 9 Pedro players & stayed 11:30 -3:30. We were quite loud, but we were in a partially sectioned off area. I will return w/my husband one day soon.
