The Good and the Bad of Singapore’s New Hawkerpreneurs - Eater

"Since Sai took over her father’s stall, Coffee Break, in 2011 at the popular Amoy Street Food Centre, she and her siblings have been selling the same traditional Nanyang kopi (coffee) made from dark robusta beans. But under Sai’s leadership, Coffee Break now also offers trendy flavored lattes like salted caramel, black sesame, and pistachio." - Jacklin Kwan

[Photos courtesy of thecurious.kind] As kopi lovers, we are so glad to have found a local kopi stand for our church wedding lunch reception! It was really easy and smooth to work with Jack and Faye on the pre-wedding engagement and they professionally covered all the aspects. For the actual day - the 2 drinks that could be ordered were kopi and teh but guests could choose the customisation; iced/ hot, sweetness etc. Had many raving compliments from our guests on the drinks!! Thank you Coffee Break for making our wedding feel like us! Highly recommend to engage them!

the iced toffee nut latte was refreshing & sweet! maybe slightly too sweet but was fine once an ice or two melted. comparable to cafe quality for a much cheaper price of $4.50. CDC vouchers are accepted here! i appreciate that the price of their special coffees haven't changed through the years -- a rarity truly. the line moves fast, i got my coffee less than a minute after ordering.

I always make it a point to grab my kopi at Coffee Break whenever I visit Amoy Food Centre. Their kopi is consistently full-bodied and smooth, just the way I like it. Service is prompt and friendly, which makes the experience even better. I’ve also tried their toast, which comes in many interesting variations—definitely worth trying and highly recommended

Conveniently located at level 2. It is easy to spot, at a corner store. Ordering is at a counter with a cute menu and 2 different collection points of coffee and toast. Ordered Sea Salt Caramel Latte and Black Sesame Latte together with Peanut Butter toast and Black Sesame toast. Perfect morning meal! Pricing is on the pricer end but totally worth it✨

Bought my most expensive cup of kopi o kosong today at $1.90 (takeaway). I was not asked whether i wanted takeaway or not. I was also partially at fault for not stating my preference to have it in a cup instead of takeaway version. I am no kopi connoisseur but it tasted ok, a bit thicker/stronger than my usual $1.20/1.10 cuppa.

Simple, delicious toast for breakfast. Toast is thin so the toast-to-filling ratio is absolutely perfect. The lady who took my order kindly mentioned about butter in the toast and asked if that’s alright, so if you prefer without, you can make a note for sure when ordering. Definitely go for it with butter! Service is quick - got my drink within a split second and toast shortly after.

The cashier took my takeaway order for two cups of Pistachio latte ($8 in total) correctly and passed on my order to another backend staff accurately. I was the only customer at that time. Unfortunately, I was given two cups of coffee instead and I only realized it when I had left the premise. Not a fan of coffee, the two drinks were wasted. I had sent my Feedback to them via the form on their website on the same day just 40mins apart from the time I ordered, on 25 Apr 2025, seeking for the correct drinks be given to me on my next visit. I note that their team will contact me between 3-5 workings days. To-date, I have not received any email response from them. Therefore, if you are going to takeaway drinks from them, check your orders first before leaving.

I tried the black sesame latte, a signature drink. Iced version was $4.50. It was not bad! Latte was smooth and I could taste the black sesame too. There’s a queue during lunchtime but moves fast! (No straws provided btw)
