Coffee’s Uneven History in America, From Its Early Days to the Growth of Third Wave | Eater

"Founded by coffee aficionado George Howell in Boston, this early second-wave shop helped make Americans take coffee and the diversity of its flavors seriously. Working in the same movement that Erna Knutsen helped define as “specialty coffee,” the shop emphasized higher-quality beans from regions like Asia and Kenya and played a key role in elevating U.S. coffee culture beyond the stale, inconsistent brews of earlier decades." - Madeleine Davies

Very rude staff. I came out from a difficult surgical procedure, not feeling well and stopped by to get some water and snack. They started ringing in my order and when I stepped 2 feet away to grab a bottle of water from a refrigerator, they started serving next client. They couldn't give me ANY explanation on why they did it. I literally took a second to take water. I am still here now and here is a picture with the guy at the counter who did it. Considering this cafeteria is located inside of the hospital, this is UNACCEPTABLE.

They have no idea what they're offering. I wanted the Reuben panini and they wanted me to forcibly buy the steak and cheese. I asked repeatedly if "that was a Reuben" but there was no label apparently NOBODY KNEW WHAT IT WAS. I left empty handed. There's more options in the hospital. Perhaps they should forgo the special needs employee program or at least train them right. THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING HERE

This coffee shop is located on 2nd floor at BWH. It offers most basic drinks Starbucks has. Customer service is fast. Only reason I gave 3/5 is because the staff constantly mess upon the order because they don't know the difference between tall, grande, and venti.
