Google
Awesome cafe that only serves coffee and a small collection of pastries. If you’re looking for more options other than coffee I would head to some other cafes but in terms of coffee this is the place to go. We ordered a cappuccino, latte, an affogato and also a rosquinha de pinga (or Brazilian style doughnut). All foods were awesome and would definitely get the same items again once we go back.

Rustic/Industrial Decor. Chill spot for a quick bite or casual meet. Ordered the Brisket Sandwich, Grill Cheese Sandwich, and Fluffy cake. Not bad👌🏾

So far, this has been the best coffee experience in town. The ambiance is amazing, and the staff is extremely friendly and speaks English very well. They also offer an English menu, and the staff is very attentive. They also offer free filtered tap water. The only issue for me is the acidity of their coffees, but that’s just a personal preference, as I don’t enjoy acidic blends. Overall, it’s a perfect place!

Two main issues: - Our two coffee, and small bread came out after 40 minutes of wait. At least a couple other tables that arrived after us got their food before us and it was not a super busy day. We brought it up to the worker’s attention at 25 minutes in but still took them a while. - Food and coffee were good but the price point is high for what you get. Ambience is really nice though, but would spend my money elsewhere than coming back.

If you're passionate about coffee and want to savor the distinctive flavors of top-quality beans, this is the perfect place for you. Just a heads-up for future visitors in 2024: be sure to bring your credit card, as cash payments may not be accepted.

Google
One of the best cafes I've ever been to, excellent quality products, a very welcoming place, and super friendly staff. But I have a problem... I was so comfortable in this cafe that I left forgetting to pay the coffee bill. I probably thought I was home... It's the first time that's happened to me. I had an Aeropress coffee. Please, is there a way to pay you online? I feel terrible

Fine gourmet specialty coffee. The Wi-Fi was 200 / 50. The best quality coffee you can find is here.

Google
5.0 | This place is a gem. I think this is easily one of the most unique coffee spots I’ve been to. they also have a ritual menu, where I ordered the cappuccino, one was made italian style, the other brazilian style. it was very pleasant, and both were presented in a way to appreciate the uniqueness of ea. the other folks got pour overs and teas, which they also enjoyed. the branding of the space is nice, and the experience is catered to true coffee enthusiasts. I loved it. I highly recommend you go if you’re in São Paulo.

Yelp
Fun little coffee shop that is worth a visit if you are in the area. It is a good spot for bringing a laptop and doing some work. The food is nothing special, but the coffee is worth going for.

Yelp
I was on the hunt for coffee when I was staying in Vila Madalena and walked here one day. I had just arrived right before it started to down pour. I almost walked past the entrance from the street. They have a few different areas one could find a seat - every place had a covered ceiling so when it rains most every spot can be filled up. Lots of plants. I sat in the tiny room with the A/C with windows that faced the street - right behind the coffee bar. It kind of felt like I was inside a treehouse - it was nice to be there when it was raining outside. It was really peaceful I wish I had brought a book or my journal with me that day. When you walk inside through the glass doors, turn to your right and walk towards the coffee bar that looks like you're in a kitchen workspace. This is normal as this is where you will place your order. After you order, you can find your seat and it will be brought out to you. The entire space gives a semi-modernized artsy atmosphere. There is a larger space with sofa, accent chairs and tables near a bookshelf filled with different bags of coffee you could purchase as well as various coffee tools and accessories. They have more indoor/outdoor seating down the corridor you walk down when you first turn in from the street as well. Since I love espressos, I had to try the espresso tasting where they give you one small cup and one larger cup of espresso - both brewed the same way, just presented differently. Stir the smaller cup fast with the spoon and slower with the bigger cup. When you taste them, you will notice a difference as one will be more bitter and the other will have that fuller taste. I preferred the smaller cup as it had more of that dark espresso flavor. The staff are super friendly. There was someone there who helped me decide what to order and explained to me how to drink it when he had brought it out. It was also helpful that he knew a little bit of English. I wish I had came here more than just one time and I regret not buying a couple bags of coffee as the packaging is what drew me to the merch, but I was already overflowing with items in my suitcase.

Yelp
Per marketing, "Coffee Lab is a quality roasting, tasting and brewing lab focused on micro batches, eco-social responsibility and foot-to-package traceability," and since 2009 it has also been where Isabela Raposeiras has sought to correct the misconception that Brazilia Coffee is more about quantity than quality. A hang out for cool kids, but also families and students, Rua Fradique Coutinho 1340 extending from a covered pathway with chairs across two buildings including the school and roastery, it is from Baristas clad in overhauls that guests receive a menu via filing system, these amongst other clever touches adding to an experience bolstered by unparalleled customer service. Surprisingly affordable compared to even the likes of Starbucks, the presence of dueling Diedrich roasters and world-class home brewing equipment telling of Raposeiras' seriousness, it is in a ritualistic manner that each beverage is prepared and presented, the V60 of "Valdeir Tomazini" from Espírito Santo a offering a hint of acidity on the tongue that quickly dissipates with the lingering flavor that of Honey. Educational without being "preachy," the most English-fluent staff witnessed anywhere in São Paulo going above and beyond to explain Coffee Lab's ethos and the effort behind their brand, it was along with Coffee that two Cakes were enjoyed, the gluten-free and vegan-friendly Corn Round enjoyable but paling in comparison to creamy R$10 Lime Cake while the Coffee Soft Serve ordered while perusing complimentary WiFi was peerless in terms of both texture and depth of flavor.

Yelp
We did a couple of their coffee "rituals"... Pretty interesting and innovative concept and I actually liked the shop, ambiance, and the service. But... this shop is NOT inexpensive in the grand scheme of things. Which would be fine, but the coffee itself has a bit of a ways to go to catch up to the coffee cultures outside of Brazil... Still, we enjoyed our experience here and would recommend this place if you want to try something completely different.

Yelp
For anyone visiting, a great place for a coffee, I recommend. Quiet place and great snacks. Coffee just like Brazil :) Para quem visita, um ótimo local para um café, recomendo. Local tranquilo e ótimos petiscos. Café igual ao do Brasil :)

Yelp
Hard to not stop here. It's a super cute place with a unique coffee experience. They put twists on traditional coffee drinks and have lots of outlets. The coffee soft serve rivals the Blue Bell coffee ice cream. It is simply delicious! Get the affogato that has the coffee soft serve ice cream.

Yelp
I went here twice during my month stay in Sao Paulo. My first time, we immediately were greeted by friendly staff and seated outside, as well as handed an English menu to help our decision making process. The second time however, we went on the weekend in the late afternoon, which was packed! We waited an hour, but the wait was worth it. Delicious blends of coffees and unique menu items. I would recommend the date frappe, as well as the coffee tasting. Also, morning and early afternoon is best time to go. This place offers great tasting coffee & an enjoyable, hip atmosphere.

Yelp
The cardápio/menu mentions in its introduction that it is one of the best coffee houses in the world(!). Now, that seems a pretty bold statement, but if you like coffee 'The Lab' is definitely worth a visit. The baristas were the highlight for us. They were super enthusiastic and passionate about their jobs, which is not only to prepare coffee, but also to select and roast the beans and, importantly, to enlighten the clientele. Dressed in their overalls they make plenty of time to come serve coffee and answer any questions you have. Very fun! We tried two of their rituals and a regular cap. Ritual 1 was a fun comparison between a quality coffee and the 'drab' served in a typical Brazilian home, while Ritual 4 was to combine a quality coffee with cheese. The coffee was really outstanding (both served using a pour over cone), but we were a bit disappointed that the roasts in Rituals 1&4 were identical. Two other things we didn't really like were the loud cleanup and the unstable decking. This may seem like complaining about nothing, but our table on the deck, right next to the door from the kitchen, was wobbly from the unstable floor boards every time someone would walk by. And, this was very frequent as the cleanup tray was located directly behind us and all dirty cups from tables and kitchen would be dumped in all the time. If you want to offer a quality experience to your guests, you should not try to squeeze in one last table to be able to seat two more people, imho.

Yelp
Coffee lab in the Vila Madalena neighborhood had some of the best coffee I've ever had in my entire life and I am an international coffee junkie. The ambiance is very chill with seating both inside and outside on a lovely terrace. I highly recommend the cappuccinos it's simply the best one I have ever had. They also have small plates of food that accompany the coffee very well. I recommend the two different brioches. One comes with a side of Nutella and the brioche quenthino comes with marmalade, butter, honey, and cream cheese. All in all this the best coffee in Sao Paolo and it is definitely worth your time if you are in Vila Madalena

Yelp
Wow - this place is great! If I lived over here, I think I'd be at this cafe all of the time. Also - this is yet another reason why Yelp is so great. My husband has been commuting to São Paulo for work. He is originally from here and lived here for 25 years, but now we live in LA. During the days while he is at work, I find myself doing literally nothing all day. I'm without a car, tethered to Wifi to use my phone and maps for communication... It's a drag man. I dial up Yelp to see what's walking distance, and lo and behold I find coffee lab. Great photos, great reviews, a great hot chocolate?! Ok, let's try. On arrival, I was a little confused. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and a bunch of people milling about in the know. I awkwardly asked where to order from someone after asking "Fala ingleis?" (I hate having to do that.) The main grabbed me a menu in English, then told me where to order. The menus hang on the inside of the door you use to enter, which slides open. Don't push and pull like I did for 10 seconds. Look for the colorful binders, and there are some in English! I walked to the kitchen and ordered my hot chocolate and the povilhos. The hot chocolate actually comes with a shot of espresso on the side, but I turned it down since I don't actually drink coffee. The povilhos are the best - they're one of my favorite snacks in Brasil, and here they come with salted cream cheese! Genius. Oh, once you pay, grab a seat. They will bring you your order, and a laminated ticket that you bring to the register to pay on your way out. I enjoyed sitting on the patio, enjoying my snack and watching the clock, waiting for Marcelo to get off work. Big bonus is free wifi! That's how I'm writing this Yelp review... Anyway, great cafe, great snacks, great space, great ambiance.

Yelp
Perfect coffee that is also fun! We came here our first morning in São Paulo and then returned for our other two mornings. Guilhermina was an amazing barista who made us feel comfortable and welcomed, she even adjusted our order to ensure the best experience. She was right! Loved the space, the coffee, the snacks and the service. Perfecto! Thank you so much!

Yelp
Coffee Lab is well named because they are all about experimentation. They have an extensive menu filled with different varieties of coffee beans that have carefully been roasted. I love their Rituals, which are basically enjoying coffees with things that compliment them. I ordered ritual 8, which is a pour over coffee complimented with cheese and a bite of chocolate. The coffee definitely tasted different after a nibble of these treats. As a daily coffee drinker it's an exceptional way to switch it up. The ambiance is incredible too, which has everyone working dressed up like train mechanics. Rad.

Yelp
I was walking around Vila Madalena when I smelled the coffee being made and decided to try. Best idea ever. The place is cute, and it looks like some coffee shops from Brooklyn/NY. Cool, modern decoration and very good service. You choose your coffee from a large variety of blends, and if you have no idea about coffee, the staff can suggest you the best option. They seem to know a lot about their products. I liked the variety of blends as well as the rituals for drinking the beverages. I ordered a french press, and a filtered coffee. The bring the powder and water to the table. And then they prepare the coffee in front of you. The bites are very good too. Tried a banana bread, that came inside an aluminum can, very creative.

Yelp
Serious coffee place for people who take coffee seriously. One of the best iced coffees in the city, sweetened with dried plums, hits the spot in summer. Excellent, small light-bite menu. Grab a bag of beans for home. This place would be perfect if they were open on Sunday.

Yelp
This was the best coffee experience of my life. Staff explained many things about coffee that were new to me. Muito bom!

Yelp
I'm a coffee enthusiast from Northern California. I roast on a Huky 500 using Artisan and brew with V60, Clever Dripper, Aeropress, and a Fiorenzato Bricoletta Hx machine. Coffee's a bit of thing with me, though I do try not to be too snobby. My GF is from São Paolo and brings coffees when she visits. I actually steered her to Coffee Lab by using Yelp from the States to look for coffee venues near her location. Our two favorites are Santo Grao and Coffee Lab. I enjoy trying the various offerings, mostly Caturra and Catuai. My GF reports good experiences with the baristi here. Though she grew up in Brazil and coffee was around her for her entire life, she didn't begin to drink it seriously until we got together and I kind of magnetized her to the practice. Now she's an afficianado, and appreciates a well-roasted, well-prepared cup, eschewing the popular roasters' offerings, complaining that they taste of charcoal. She accuses me of having spoiled her. Mea culpa, mea culpa. Happy to have done so. Guess I'm a coffee devil. Her accounts of Coffee Lab are favorable, often noting that the staff gently educate the clientele without arrogance and with a genuine desire to share their enthusiasm, which is a good standpoint from which to grow a successful coffee business, IMHO, avoiding preachiness and vanity, which add a sour note to any, even the best, coffee. Cheers, james

Yelp
Coffee lab has certain hype around here like bluebottle. I've been here 5 times and always enjoyed coffee and espresso drinks. Love their selection and excellent service. Some baristas speak English as well which makes things easier for foreigners. One suggestion though is you've got to provide to go cups. It doesn't make your coffee less special.

Yelp
This is a "must know" place for every coffee geek in the world. If you are a serious coffee lover this is THE PLACE to visit at least once in your life in Sao Paulo. Isabella Raposeiras (the owner) is a real coffee expert and does a serious job with it. Here you can taste the best brazilian beans from all over the country, and choose the way it´s prepared (Espresso, Moka, French Press, Aeropress, Hario v60, Chemex) they have it all...
google avatar

Jonathan D.

Yelp
This place is as good as it gets for coffee lovers. The most striking feature is that just popping in for a cup of coffee is an educational experience. Besides all the courses they have for baristas or just coffee enthusiasts, they have what they refer to as "rituals", in which you can try and compare different types of coffee or different preparation methods. In my case, I just had an espresso, which they served in two different cups so I could compare how a different size cup can affect the coffee's flavor. Before I left, I couldn't help buying some coffee beans to take home. Coffee Lab is a little pricey, but definitely worth every cent.

Yelp

Yelp
best coffee place in sao paulo maybe in brasil... they have different coffee varieties from all over brasil and also they can prepare the coffee with the process you chose. If you want to learn about coffee i would really recommend this place
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
I loved this place! Best setting for a coffee in my 3 weeks in Brazil, and it came on my last day. Had a nice pourover after looking through the extensive coffee menu. Had a nice seat on the patio and relaxed with my friends. Loved the "craft water" as we called it. Next time I come to Sao Paulo I want to stay somewhere walking distance from this spot!
google avatar

Flash J.

Yelp
Reminiscent of the great coffee shops of Seoul; you have your choice of Aeropress, pour over, French press and espresso for your selection of their huge range of freshly roasted Brazilian coffees. The service is excellent and hugely personal, with the master barista coming to your table to explain the nuances of different coffees and production methods (I'm sure they'll leave you alone if you want also :-P). They also sell their beans and different coffee making products so this is truly a one stop shop for serious coffee lovers in São Paulo!
google avatar

Zach B.

Yelp
I love coffee. If done right, it can be a wonderful thing. I have been to craft coffee shops all across the USA. This was one of my all time favorites. The coffee is absolutely perfect. They consider it a science, and they will show you and explain why. I couldn't believe I walked into this amazing gem while in Brazil. The shop itself has a wonderful and open environment. The perfect spot for a date, a nice place to work, or just relax and sip. These folks KNOW coffee. Just ask! I snagged three bags and a mug to take back to the USA. This was truly a 5 star shop. Coffee, ambiance, service, cleanliness, style, they covered it all! Come here! Come taste coffee how it should be done!
google avatar

Ana Bia F.

Yelp
Chocolate da Vovó and lime and coffee drink are my favorites one. They are not that great for food. It's a very nice place for a quick business meeting or just a break during the day.
google avatar

Nadim T.

Yelp
Best espresso in São Paulo hands down And one of my top 5 worldwide (I am well traveled globally)
google avatar

Debora S.

Yelp
Great coffee! Excellent staff. The place is very nice and the price is ok. Usually at the weekends is crowded, probably you'll have to wait for a table. But it is a good experience, the smell of the coffee being prepared in front of you is superb! I
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent and unique coffee in a great atmosphere. It has an outdoor jungle-like area, an outdoor deck area, and a place that resembles more of a traditional coffee shop; I liked the variety and comfortable feel of all of them! The coffee was local to Brazil and they had a good number of options while still clearly having specialties. A place to really nerd out on coffee! The staff were very nice, helpful, and were able to speak some English to help us out. The food options are not plentiful, but good for a coffee shop. Small breakfast-like plates and deserts were what they primarily had for food. All in all, a very good coffee shop, of which I would recommend checking out. I will definitely come back when I am back in the area.

Melissa T.

Yelp
Best coffee I ever tried, anywhere. They call their barista girls foxes. They are super nice, dressed in one of the coolest uniforms (factory works from the 40s) and sure know very well all the techniques to prepare coffee the right way. The quality of the coffee beans served are off the chart. What they provide here is experience, and you'll have a great one here.
google avatar

Guilio Ñ.

Yelp
If I lived in São Paolo, Vila Madalena will be my neighborhood, because of its charm and proximity to Coffee Lab. The baristas know their beans quite well and are super friendly. I also love their overalls, which make them look like the Super Mario of coffee, which come to think of it, they really are!
google avatar

Aws A.

Yelp
5 stars for being so unique, nice people, great customer service, awesome atmosphere and they coffee is just amazing, would deff go back whenever im back to sao paulo
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
The folks at Coffee Lab have the formula for a great coffee shop down to a science. The atmosphere is both cute and welcoming and offers an enticing menu. I admit that I cannot speak to the quality of their coffee. I actually hate the taste of coffee, which probably makes me an unlikely candidate to review a coffee shop. However, the one individual in our group that had coffee during our visit thoroughly enjoyed her cup of Joe. As for me, I had the Hot Chocolate which was absolutely divine. It was like simply drinking melted chocolate making it a rich and creamy indulgence. Coffee Lab is the perfect place for catching up with work using their free wi-fi, meeting up with friends or taking a break after site seeing at nearby Batman Alley.
google avatar

Jeremy V.

Yelp
Great coffee shop where you have a group of people who really, really love coffee... I mean, really love it. You can smell the coffee roasting, which is delicious. Great coffee shop vibe with indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jean L.

Yelp
The atmosphere and staff was great! They have menus in English(if you're a visitor from another country, like I am). Their attention to detail is impeccable. If you're really hungry, I'd skip this place. Try it for brunch or a quick cuppa joe and an afternoon snack before dinner later with your friends.

Gordon H.

Yelp
Love it. I wish I could stay longer. Waitress spoke english and explain coffee tasting for me. They even have english menu. Go there during the day and get a seat outside. This is a must go for visitors.

Derik E.

Yelp
This place is for serious coffee drinkers, and those whose attitude toward coffee is like wine drinkers attitude for a fine wine. It can be a little intimidating and wonderous at the same time. So with that said... It's a great place to get more than just a cup of morning Joe. There is a light, small plate menu, and the aroma going in is a coffee drinker's delight. After all, it's coffee.

Red V.

Yelp
A Brazilian friend of mine just brought me two bags of coffee. Wow, amazing. The best coffee I have ever had and I know coffee. Can't wait for my next trip to São Paulo.
google avatar

Diana Z.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place on the recommendation of a few friends, and I was not disappointed. The menu is quite large, and can be a little overwhelming. It's fun to go with a friend who has been before so they can guide you through it a bit. Thankfully, they have menus in English, since my coffee vocabulary in Portuguese is not very extensive. Coffee Lab offers several different ways to try coffee through its "rituals." However, for my first time here, I opted to go with the more basic espresso with cream. It was a good choice! The coffee with rich, but not bitter, and the cream added just the right touch. The atmosphere is really cool. It feels more like someone's very large kitchen than a typical coffee house and there is plenty of seating indoors and out. I plan to return soon!
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Everything I would expect from a pretentious hipster coffee shop in NYC including; a detailed menu that reads like a wine menu, full line up various prep methods and filters and great retail selection. Only downside is that they pour 6oz instead of filling up the 10-12oz American style mug.
google avatar

Marcell A.

Yelp
If you really like coffee you should always go to Coffee Lab. It's not expensive and the coffee is always well crafted. Besides this the place is top notch and it's at Vila Madalena - an excellent location!
google avatar

Eliza S.

Yelp
Such a wonderful place to go! I love the laboratory concept when applied to coffee. Its kind of rare to find a coffee shop here in Brazil, especially the kind where you can sit down with your computer to get some work done- but, this place is a hit.

Char L.

Yelp
Peaceful neighborhood, pleasantly green surroundings, neat and cosy café with just the right variety of beans, drinks, bites to be trendy. Very affordable prices for great coffee. Friendly staff who were comfortable in English, and were thoughtful enough to have English menus on hand for tourists like us. My only regret was that we only found this place on the morning we were leaving SP after having stayed in the vicinity for 3 full days. This would be my go-to if I ever went back to SP.
google avatar

Anoush Jay S.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome place! Easily the best coffee I've had in Brazil, but that's not all - they all do coffee education courses and tastings as well!
google avatar

Greg J.

Yelp
I had the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my life here. I say this in all seriousness. This is not an exaggeration. The hot chocolate was absolutely wonderful; it was pure ecstasy; it was bliss. The atmosphere is also very pleasant with a nice shaded back porch area. The workers wear cute jumpsuits which I enjoyed.
google avatar

Rafael C.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops you'll ever find in São Paulo. It's a must for everyone who loves coffee and similar hot beverages. Be careful, you'll fall in love.

Yelp
simply the best coffee i've ever tasted!!! it's so delicious, creamy and the service is amazing. the "chocolate da vovó" and "leite da vovó" are out of this world!

Roma N.

Yelp
Great Brazilian coffee and cappuccino as well;) Lovely place to relax, discuss with friends and drink good coffee! Special thanks to Lee, the barista who done a perfect service!
