How to Spend a Food-Filled Off-Season Weekend in Kennebunkport, Maine | Eater Boston

"A short drive from the main square, this roastery sells fresh-roasted beans by the pound and offers hot and iced coffee from a self-serve bar alongside grab-and-go sandwiches; a handy perk is coffee ice cubes so iced coffee stays strong instead of becoming watered down." - Nathan Tavares

Google
LOVED this cute spot, great find. $1 cup of hot, fresh coffee from a 100yr old coffee bean roaster. The owner is always on site and so friendly. So many other fun treats, eats & drinks as well as hot coco & tea

Colleen C

Google
Crazy good prices - who sells a cup of coffee or tea for $1? 😳. Cute coffee shop in Kennebunkport. 100+ y/o roaster. Great dark roast and espresso drinks. Homemade cookies. Definitely recommend.

Google
Very nice local coffee shop that roast their own beans and have coffee ice cubes for their iced coffee! I had their ice coffee on a cold winter day and it was strong, low acidity and mellow. There’s tables in the back where you can see locals hanging out on a weekday morning reading their newspaper

Dewayne C.

Google
Great coffee shop. Really good dark roast. Neat little store. The owner was helpful and friendly. Makes her own cookies and pastries. Highly recommend.

Elen C.

Google
Fun atmosphere with lots to look at, great selection of whole roasted beans, friendly owner (she was the only one taking orders and preparing coffee/food so be patient, it's worth it). Indoor and outdoor seating available, delicious gluten free options, a great way to start the morning.

Google
This is such a cute little stop! The store has all sorts of goodies, hot fresh sandwiches, pastries, and hot and iced coffee. The muffin we got was delicious and the coffee is make you're own. We made a cold brew coffee with maple flavor shot in it. I appreciate that the coffee bar is make your own as you know what you're getting and you can make it the way you prefer. They also have a ton of flavor shots to choose from as well as dairy alternatives such as oat and almond milk. The best though is how kind and welcoming the staff was when we walked in they are very friendly and down to earth, it almost feels like going to a friend's house. Definitely reccomend if you're in the area

Google
Marina is amazing! She is such a great host! The coffee tastes so fresh and the pastries and chocolates are divine! I usually buy something from the store every time I go. This time it was some organic coffee beans, a Lobster trap holiday ornament, and an Italian moral pot. Love all of it!!!

Amanda N.

Google
The friendliest staff, the best coffee and cutest atmosphere. You can smell the coffee being roasted down the street and it lures you in! Everything is house made and delicious and the owner has been roasting coffee for 43 years, so you know it’s got to be the best around! Definitely my new favorite coffee shop! Complete with coffee ice cubes for your cold brew!

Yelp
First, great coffee roasted on site in a 100 year old Probat roaster filled the air with the seductive aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Secondly, the aroma was only exceeded by the taste of the freshly roasted beans. We complemented our coffee with a slice oif freshly baked gluten free rum cake glazed with a maple syrup icing. Finally, the convivial atmosphere of locals discussing the topic of the day made the stop all worthwhile. Bottom line: a great place for a good cup of coffee.

Yelp
This is a very quaint self serving coffee place and they are a great environment. Parking is in the back and talk about a great service. However, make sure that you close that fridge door or you will be placed in time out in front of everyone. You can also spect a little of smart ass remarks from them. Overall a good coffee place with breakfast, lunch and other items or souvenirs.

Yelp
Coffee Roasters of the Kennebunks is the real deal when it comes to bold and fresh coffee. From coffee varieties, go breakfast sandwiches, and pastries, this is a must visit during your stay in Kennebunkport. Much to my surprise, the coffee shop also had merchandise akin to Maine. Olive oil and vinegar are available for purchase. You can sample these before buying. I loved the boutique environment of the coffee roasters. I ordered a blueberry scone (which was warmed) and iced coffee. A nice touch were the coffee ice cubes. Definitely stop in for a quick breakfast or stay awhile to find the perfect Maine souvenirs!

Yelp
Really interesting spot! They roast their own beans, they have about 10 different beans to choose from, you pay by the pound. They have a grinder there for you to use. They also have a variety of baked goods and syrups, jams and jellies. Lots of souvenirs to choose from as well!

Yelp
Love visiting Kennebunk for our annual family get together! I had never been to this spot before and was so happy it was recommended to us. My cousin and I stopped by for breakfast. We made use of the coffee bar. I made a cold brew with oat milk (with the coffee cubes!) and my cousin got hot coffee. We decided to also split The Franz breakfast sandwich. Outdoor seating was handy as we were able to enjoy our food and coffee at a nice high table! Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in late yesterday afternoon. Adorable shop with good coffee but the real plus is Marina, the woman who was working there. Kind, personable with excellent customer service skills. We came for the coffee and left feeling like we made a friend! We will be back! Thank you, Marina.

Tracy S.

Yelp
Loved the coffee, nice, rich tasting brew. Cinnamon roll was fabulous, even though it was late in the day. Adorable little coffee shop.

Yelp
Wonderful little coffee shop. We went in the off season and were grateful to find a place that made good espresso drinks, albeit a little milky (my doublecappucino was more like a latte). The eclectic shop reminds me of Nicholas coffee and tea in Pittsburgh, selling an array of things besides coffee and tea - Maine knicknacks, funny napkins, soap, jams and the like. There are good chocolates and pastries and sandwiches, which will sample next time. There are a handful of tables in back near the barrels of wonderful smelling coffee. We loved sipping our drinks here and looking around.

Glen K.

Yelp
My favorite roast in the New England area in 3 states so far. The Vienna roast was superb. Rarely do I find coffee beans better than mine. I would have gone with the French but I roast and was looking for a dark that was different from mine. Scoop the beans out of a barrel. I could look and smell the coffee before I bought it too, which was very nice. No medium/light mishaps. There are choices for medium and light roasts as well if you haven't matured your taste :)

Yelp
Not a fan. My latte was nearly $6, so who knows what's going on when someone says the place is inexpensive. In addition, there's no bathroom in the cafe (strange), and I was told to go next-door and look for a porta potty but when I did, so, there is no Porta party at all. It's a tourist trap. Just not my kind of place.
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
Love, love their breakfast sandwiches!! Sooo good! And the drip coffee is also excellent
google avatar

Ricky Z.

Yelp
The coffee here is so cheap and delicious, I seriously don't know how they make enough money to stay open. Hot drip coffee is $1-2 and a large iced coffee (and it's truly large) is only $2.50. They even have coffee iced cubes at no extra charge. Why would you go any place else???

Yelp
Learned about them after having coffee at Old Vines Wine Bar. Went the following day for ice coffee and to buy some beans. Woman behind the counter was SUPER helpful showing us where everything was and was extremely personable and friendly. We had such a wonderful experience, we stopped in the following morning for coffee, more beans to bring home, and breakfast sandwiches. We met the owners who we're kind, helpful and friendly. Can't rave about this place more. We will be back the next time we're in Kennebunkport.

Steve R.

Yelp
Sandra the owner is wonderful - best coffee in the Kennebunks - actually the best coffee anywhere - and great baked goods as well. I great way to start your day
google avatar

Steven B.

Yelp
Our best cup of coffee in Kennebunkport! We like dark roast so we chose the French roast! Only $1!! The stuffed grape leaves are fantastic (3 for a $1)! The only downside is they don't have a public restroom.
google avatar

Meghan C.

Yelp
A fairly hidden gem, and a spot loved by the locals. Give this place a try if you haven't already. Excellent coffee and baked goods. Very friendly staff and a great spot to catch up with friends or read.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
Wanted a cup of coffee and to use the restroom. Sadly I asked to use a restroom before I ordered a beverage. Was told "they have public restrooms at the Grand Hotel". I can't imagine a coffee house not having a restroom for their patrons. Hope the coffee is better than the service.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee shop where they roast their own delicious coffee and offer all types of gourmet coffee & espresso beverages as well as a bunch of other treats and items in the shop. Definitely a 5-star spot!
google avatar

Jack D.

Yelp
Great spot for breakfast sandwiches, iced coffee/coffee, and breakfast pastries. Very friendly staff and food and coffee were great. Easy in and out and plenty of coffee options if you have dairy issues.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
By far the best breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. If you are a local or here on vacation, pick up a gourmet sandwich and coffee and then relax on the beach. Coffee Roasters also has a great selection of coffee beans and they sell Chemex!
google avatar

Jon E.

Yelp
A local favorite for coffee, breakfast and lunch. Everything is fresh and homemade and Sandra and her team are always warm and friendly. The breakfast sandwiches are tasty and filling, and nobody does better tuna salad and mediterranean specialties. Stop by and grab a few local gifts on the way out. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Caesar R.

Yelp
Sandra, the owner was an absolute darling! I stopped in yesterday for a quick latte and realized what a find. All the beans are roasted in house and with the options of about 10 different varieties, everyone is sure to find something they like. I opted for an iced latte which is made with the Vienna roast. Delicious. There is also a variety of teas as well. You can even get artisanal olive oil here. Coffee buffs should definitely make this a regular spot.
google avatar

Gordon R.

Yelp
Kind and friendly Sandra roasts her own coffee in house at coffee roasters of the Kennebunks. You can't miss this place. $1.00 coffee, no muss no fuss. "Uncle Sam" works part time and if you are looking to chat up a storm he is your guy. Lots of cool Coffee gadgets in addition to a huge selection of loose teas. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Prices for freshly roasted beans are fair and the fresh brewed coffee for a dollar is unbeatable.
google avatar

Liz F.

Yelp
We stopped in for an afternoon cup and Sandra quickly offered to brew us a fresh pot of decaf to order. The French roast was delicious-good and dark and strong. When we mentioned we found our way here via Yelp, Sandra was so psyched and let us get her all set up with the app on her iPad. Looking forward to seeing more great reviews-this is great coffee and I don't know another place you can a get fresh roasted brew for a dollar! That's right/a dollar!

Maya H.

Yelp
amazing breakfast sandwiches (including GF options!) and really yummy iced coffees with coffee ice cubes!!!! Just discovered this place and will be coming back often!!
google avatar

Marlene R.

Yelp
Not a coffee drinker? Not to worry, they have a great selection of teas to please any taste, breakfast sandwich choices are delicious, made with fresh ingredients on delicious breads. It's a must stop for me any time I'm in kennebunk.
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
The coffee is wonderful and very affordably priced! I love the coffee ice cubes for my iced coffee! The salt and honey roasted coffee is my favorite blend to buy, but they are all delicious - you can't go wrong. And the breakfast sandwiches and baked treats are delicious. Great place for coffee and breakfast!
google avatar

Gene R.

Yelp
Despite being empty when we arrived the person behind the counter made no attempt to say hello or engage us, which made us think perhaps this place isn't interested in serving non-locals. The coffee itself was slightly above lukewarm and there was no soy milk. This is the only coffee shop I have ever been to that does not offer a restroom for paying customers, so if you are looking to hang out and enjoy your coffee with your morning paper and you need to make a pit stop afterwards, expect to be directed to the gas station down the road.

Arthur F.

Yelp
Always one of my daily stops when in the K'bunk area & take home some coffee for friends. No good dollar coffee anywhere else. People complaining about no restroom, take the next right, go around where the laundry is, and there's an amazingly clean porta potty awaiting your contributions.
google avatar

Frank J.

Yelp
This is where to get the best cup of coffee in Kennebunk, Maine! Love the French roast, freshly roasted, great flavor without the bitterness of other french roast coffees.

Monica P.

Yelp
Love this little gem. Awesome coffee. Friendly staff. Felt like a member of the neighborhood given how chatty everyone was. Inexpensive yet great quality.

Danie C.

Yelp
Walking into this store is like meeting an old friend. The coffee roaster is churning, there are the latest coffee and tea merchandise on the shelves and the staff is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Lots of Maine memorabilia, muffins, sandwiches and more!
google avatar

Elsie D.

Yelp
Went in for a pick me up after the Presidential Seaside Duathlon. The beans smelled wonderful and I picked up two pounds. The espresso drinks on the other hand were - how do I put it - burnt - both my cappuccino and my friend's americano. I had such high hopes. We unfortunately had to ditch our drinks and visit another establishment in town

Michael P.

Yelp
Really really good drip coffee, roasted onsite in a 100 year old roaster right in the middle of the store. If you like coffee you have to hit this spot
google avatar

Joe V.

Yelp
A great cup - and a very nice selection of properly roasted beans for purchase by the pound. Stop in and chat with the owner - you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
This place was great! We happened to show up right as uncle Sammy was closing for the day. He had just tossed 2 pots of coffee & was getting ready to take the open flag inside. It was 5 ish on a Friday, so totally understandable that he was closing up. He insisted that we come in & he brewed us up a pot of fresh coffee. It was excellent. He gave us a little history lesson of the business & we sat & chatted w/ him for a while. It was so welcoming & enjoyable. Definitely worth a stop in.

Maggie S.

Yelp
This place is not to be missed. Great coffee and exceptional customer service. They say good people attract good people. Not only can the owners give others training in customer service (they couldn't be nicer), but my fellow customers were incredibly nice. The owners here know how to run a superb establishment. The iced coffee was great and they had coffee ice cubes which makes iced coffee that much better. This place has coffee and much more. The breakfast sandwich is something I will now crave.

Yelp
decent on site ground coffee but rude staff, not Sbux...whatever...lame environment, very touristy.sandra wasnt on site but rather a kurt other lady who kept pushing local dining. i support on site local brews but not nasty attitudes

MaryAnn T.

Yelp
I make a point to go to this shop every morning after walking my dogs on the beach. The owner and her morning staff are pleasant and a joy to talk with while getting one of their fabulous breakfast sandwiches heated. Their coffee is the best because you help yourself so it is always just the way I like it !! The home made chocolate chips cookies are they best if you are lucky enough to get one (some times there may not be many left as I buy several). If you are not already a regular you will be !!

Michele V.

Yelp
Two thumbs down! Decided to try this places to save the drive to Cape Porpoise kitchen where we usually go for breakfast even though we stay in K-Port. Bought two egg breakfast sandwiches and a little raspberry almond bar. The breakfast sandwiches were both pretty tasteless and a bit greasy. The almond bar - literally took a bite, spit it out and threw the rest away. Stale and tasteless. Would have brought it back in but we were already back at our hotel. Should have driven the 10 mins to Cape Porpoise! Total waste of 18 bucks! Stay away!

Yelp
I must have been here on an off day given the other reviews but my stop is worth noting. There is an extensive selection of coffee but, and this is the theme of this review, the extremely friendly employee was not very knowledgeable. I ordered two lattes and she asked a few questions. What kind of milk? How much foam? She went to work and I walked around the store. I asked a question about a cold brew system and received an apology for not knowing anything about many of the items in the store in response. About five minutes later I heard "Uh oh. I don't know what happened here." Each cup was about half full so she offered to take $1 off of each coffee rather than have to steam more milk. I thought that seemed fair enough and didn't really want to wait through another round of latte making so I agreed to the deal. I didn't try the coffee until I was back in the car and on my way and it was burnt. It might be great if the right person makes your coffee but my visit did not live up to expectations. All three stars are due the friendliness of the staff.

Kristin K.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee and not expensive at all. Not sure why yelp is saying it's expensive. The owner was really nice and let my husband taste some coffees. Their blueberry bread was also wonderful. Great coffee. Nice place. We will be coming back.
