The 27 Best Breweries in Denver | Eater Denver

"Světlé výčepní, tmavé speciální, hladinka, mlíko: If the terms employed at this Clayton brewery seem confounding, rest assured the staff is more than able and willing to expound upon the traditional Czech styles and pouring methods to which they refer. Once in hand, the beers themselves go down easy in the rather stylish taproom or out on the patio, where food trucks like Luchador and Flippin Birdz frequently park." - Eater Staff

14 Essential Colorado Breweries to Visit in 2022 - AFAR

"Focused on Czech beer styles that are uncommon in the U.S., this Denver brewery keeps a short but carefully executed tap list (typically about six house beers plus a few guests) that delivers crushable, sessionable lagers and ales year-round." - Bailey Berg

Google
Cohesion Brewery is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts! They do an incredible job celebrating Czech beer culture, from the unique brewing styles to the bold and flavorful ingredients. The brewery features Czech classics, rare styles, and inventive brews with local twists. It's the perfect mix of honoring tradition while adding modern creativity. Can't recommend this place enough for anyone who loves great beer and a welcoming atmosphere!

Google
Amazing beer!! One of the best places in Denver, Schnitzel Joe's food truck was really good also

Ryan J.

Google
Such a great ambiance at a place where every care is taken to represent the Czech lager style. Love the outdoor patio and the side pull beers! Everything was perfect. Always a good food truck to pair up with the beer.

Jeremy C.

Google
Can’t say enough great things about this place. The beer is amazing. Hands down some of the best lager I’ve ever had. (I’ve had a lot of suds.) Steph’s service was excellent and I also met another employee Lauren at the bar. Together they made me feel so welcome. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Stephen N.

Google
We were lucky enough to secure a tour of this place on our group's final day in Denver. The brewer/owner, Eric, told us all about the history and process of making Czech lagers. We tasted a couple of the beers on the tour and all the others afterwards. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about what they were serving, which was great as Czech lagers are not as ubiquitous as other styles. They are not even my personal favorite style, but this was by far the best brewery we visited and easily had the highest quality beer. It's definitely a mist visit!

Cam O.

Google
One of my favorite breweries in Denver. The Czech style beers were all fantastic. Really enjoyed how knowledgeable all of the staff were as they shared what makes these beers so incredible. Additionally, the tap room is absolutely stunning. The most beautiful brewery in Denver, in my opinion. All in all, I can’t recommend Cohesion enough. And don’t forget to do a Mliko shot before leaving!

Google
Big fan of this place. Clean brews and great atmosphere with lovely staff. Plenty of outdoor patio seating that dog friendly and indoor seating for large groups. Was impressed by the quality of their craft will most definitely be back again when in the area!!Cheers!!

Devin G.

Google
Phenomenal beer. Great taproom. Spacious dog friendly patio with umbrellas. So happy I finally made it here. Although there were only 5 beers on tap, all five are winners. I had a Czech lager from a brewery in Frisco recently and the Cohesion version blows it away. They are clearly the experts on this style beer. Parking was no problem and the schnitzel food truck is a great match for the place.

Yelp
I thought I knew lagers... until I visited Cohesion Brewing Co. and learned what a Czech-style lager is really about. Here's the deal: At Cohesion, foam is the main character. Like coffee drinks, Czech lagers come in different styles depending on the foam-to-beer ratio -- and it seriously changes the entire experience. Hladinka: creamy head, 20-25% foam Šnyt: half beer, half foam Mlíko: almost entirely foam (yes, it's called "milk" and yes, it's delightful) Owners Eric & Lisa Larkin fell in love with Czech brewing while traveling, and now they're pouring some of the most unique lagers you'll find in Denver. Between the perfect patio, cozy indoor space, and beer that'll totally change your perception of what a "light lager" can be -- you're definitely staying for more than one.
google avatar

Troy S.

Yelp
Great Czech style beers. All the beers are on a Czech side pull tap (Lukr faucet). The bartender was super friendly and helped me navigate some choices. I had a milk pour. Just like the Czech Republic. They have stickers and merch. Outdoor seating. It is in a bit of an industrial area. Close enough downtown by scooter or Uber though. If you like traditional Czech beer, this is your place.
google avatar

Betty G.

Yelp
Great location and excellent beers, but the only thing I would say is that the service seemed very lackadaisical. The patio was cool though and I appreciate the horizontal lagertons. The product names are also creative! Overall, I enjoyed it!
google avatar

Kristine L.

Yelp
New favorite brewery in Denver!! Lots of parking with an indoor and outdoor warehouse spaces they specialize in Czech beers. You can get 3 different points with different amounts of foam. All of their beers are crisp and super refreshing lots of seating inside and outside. Perfect for families, kids or a casual weekend afternoon. There's also a yummy pizza food truck near by. Lots of parking as well! Get the foam milk to try if you can.
google avatar

Dawn J.

Yelp
Bright, spacious and clean taproom. They specialize in Czech style Lagers. They had 6 beers on tap and we tried all 6. The bar staff ladies were super friendly ! A unique brewery with some solid beers. Cheers!

Yelp
Cute brewery with nice outdoor patio!! Enjoyed the different beer options. Surprised to see a brewery where they actually have tasty foam that they want you to try as part of the beer drinking experience.

Yelp
Another lager brewery that I had been wanting to check out for a very, very long time was Cohesion Brewing. They focus on Czech style lagers with beautiful taps and even more beautiful beers. I wanted to try as many of their beers as I could, so I got a flight. Which, to be fair, is a very poor representation of the beer as I think it deserves to be poured into a full glass with a nice head of foam, but I gave into my desire to taste all their delectable beverages. Cohesion 10°: A Czech Pale Lager that is single decocted with just a nice light hop flavor and a kiss of malt sweetness. Cohesion 8°: A Czech Pale Lager double decocted with Sládek and Saaz hops and late additions of Sládek. Bright with light citrus notes and a backbone of cracker malt flavors. Group Project: Landbier: A Czech Lager brewed in collaboration with Halfway Crooks, Olfactory, and Cerebral. Hopped with Saaz, Hallertau Mittelfruh, and Perle. Cohesion 12º: A Czech Pale Lager triple decocted and hopped with traditional Czech hops. Herbal and bitter with some light sweet malt character. Cohesion Tmavé 14º: A Czech Dark Lager double decocted with rich flavors of chocolate and molasses. Černá Ovce: A Czech Dark Lager brewed in collaboration with Halfway Crooks Brewing. Coffee and roasted notes. Some dark cacao as well hitting the palate _____________

Yelp
Delish Czech lagers, pair quite nicely with a sunny patio day in December! I'll be back for the Hot wax & Hladinka event
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Went here on 11/10/24. Brought a few friends who have never been. A lot of tables. Good size inside and patio. They had 5 of their own beers and a few guest taps I believe. Their beer is great. The Half Dark (Amber) was really good. Fun atmosphere. Bartenders were are very friendly. Definitely an experience with their beers. Multiple ways you can order. Cheers!

Yelp
I ducked into Cohesion Brewing Company, eager to take out as many Denver breweries as I possibly could while visiting and I enjoyed my stop here. I got the Černý Les which was a lager. I was doing a string of this beer type at many of the breweries I was going to while in my trip. Not really any good reason other than when it's warmer outside I like to drink lighter beers and lagers is one of my favorite beer types. Flavor features with this lager is a malty, grassy flavors with a crisp snap to it. Refreshing and enjoyable I am glad I made a quick stop at Cohesion to experience one of their beers!

Yelp
While visiting Denver, I knew I had to check out all the breweries I possibly could - it's my thing. My boyfriend and I swung by Cohesion after looking to see how far of a walk it was to all the others. We were not disappointed. It's tucked away way back into a warehouse, so it wasn't too busy when we arrived. The two ladies at the bar were very friendly and explained the beers and the different foam levels. We ended on a flight so we could try them all! Every beer was crisp and spot on to every style as described. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and tidiness of the place and how different it was from some of the other breweries we have been too. Worth checking out and some cute merchandise!
google avatar

Brendan S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious beers. I love Czech style beers and they did not disappoint. The brewery had indoor and outdoor seating which was a nice option as it was sunny but windy when we were there. The staff was super helpful and the brewery space was nicely done. I hope to get back to Denver and have more of their beers.
google avatar

Mooto T.

Yelp
FANTASTIC CZECH PILSNERS served in the traditional manner - look this is a MANDATORY stop folks - you have to drink this to understand what Pilsner is really about. Foam is beautiful
google avatar

Trina G.

Yelp
Cohesion is my Cheers. Could not have better and more friendly staff. Beers are always on point. The decor is homey and welcoming. I have been a member of their beer club since they opened. Its like a family without all the weird stuff. I can always find a Czech beer I am in the mood for. There is really nothing I would change except their food truck issue, which is really not their fault. Its easy to get food delivered there or bring your own. Just try it. You wont regret it.
google avatar

Edie A.

Yelp
Seriously! You need to Czech this place out! Such a unique place serving up Czech style beers. Don't worry about pronouncing the beers, the have a Czech pronunciation guide. Černý Les is a light golden beer. My favorite! Their beers range from 3.7% to 5.8% ABV. The bar has beautiful aquamarine subway tile. Service at the bar is friendly and they are happy to serve you a giant mug of beer with foamy head. Just like a Czech beer is supposed to be.
google avatar

Yelp
Beer was very good and the food selection at the food truck was exceptional. The area looks pretty industrial when you drive up, but the brewery and patio both offer very nice spaces. I had the Tmavé 14 deg rated and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also had a person selling sourdough from a 150 year old starter that was outstanding.

Yelp
Let me start by noting that Cohesion is one of a kind in Colorado. It's the only brewery exclusively producing Czech lagers. Even if this isn't your style, a visit here may open your mind and palate. Many don't know this, but the original Budweiser is a Czech lager brewed in the town of Budjovice (German = Budweis). In Europe, they are Budweiser and the American stuff is "Bud." It's almost impossible to score in the US in its original brown bottle, but tastes sublime if you can find one. On my first trip to Cohesion a quick chat with the beertender revealed that he also loves this beer and they strive to meet or exceed that standard. Music to my ears! I'd say they live up to that goal. Order at the bar and watch the unique, Czech style pour, but don't fret when they leave an inch or more of foam. This is how your beer would come in Prague. Indoors, find comfortable seating with plenty of room & ample sunlight, The outdoor patio sits about five feet above the parking lot, offering tables with umbrellas and a view, so to speak. Czech beers don't overwhelm with high alcohol content--the highest I've had at Cohesion was 5.4% This allows you to try a few and stay a while without getting hammered. The alcohol content of beers here is noted in the degrees Plato included at the end of a beer's name. Higher number = greater abv. My favorite so far is the 14º Tmavé Speciální Pivo, a dark lager bursting with smooth, yet robust flavors . It's delicious--definitely one of my top 5 beers brewed in Denver. Overall, I've tried six different brews since my first Tmavé. All winners. Cohesion features food trucks most days; they post a calendar on their website The Euro theme goes beyond decor and beer names written in Czech. Beer mugs are sized with the metric system. If that seems like a little much, find one of the many table tents provided with a primer on Czech beer pronunciation, and take a gander before you order. Caution: The restroom is down several loooong hallways. It feels like almost a quarter mile. Plan your ins and outs carefully. Overall, Cohesion easily earns five stars for the unique beers and theme, quality and taste of their brews, the friendly vibe, and comfortable space.

Yelp
While visiting in Denver this past summer we stopped in to Cohesion Brewing Company to meet up with a friend who plays and practices bocce ball within this area. We were super excited to come in and try a couple of cold beers on a cool summer night. The aesthetic in here is giving all positive and natural chill vibes with the plants and large windows in their taproom area. The modern furniture is was makes this spot super charming on top of their beer list. The list features not only their own Czech Republic-style brewed draught pours but a guest list of beers they offer along side their own. If you are in the mood for a hard seltzer I highly recommend the Lady Justice - Heck Yeah!. Super friendly service and nice people working here made this spot a favorite from our Denver trip. During the weekends and events I heard there is usually a food truck offering for folks who are lucky enough to live in town (and not visiting like my sister and I did) to come to Cohesion Brewing any time during the week and weekends.

Jacqueline M.

Yelp
The beer was great. The service and ambience were nice too. I love Czech style beers so this was a treat. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Beth D.

Yelp
The team is amazing! I hosted a 70 person event and from the very beginning their service was incredible. I would highly recommend this location for any special event or just to attend. From the beverage selection to the ambience to the service you will enjoy yourself!
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
This place is great! We enjoy trying new beers. They focus on Czech lagers. Talking with our beer tender, we found out they use all local ingredients. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The tap room is bright and spacious. Safetywise, you need to wear a mask when not seated and show a vax card with ID. I appreciate the extra. The beers are delicious. The ABVs are low so you can enjoy more than one. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Well, what a wonderful surprise in north part of Denver. This review was informed by my husband, who grew up in the Czech Republic. The owner is to the best of our knowledge an American who shares the enthusiasm for beer with the good old people of the Czech Republic. And he does that in a style and manner very authentic to the one you would find in the heart of Europe. Beers are authentic to those you would find in the larger and smaller cities of Czechia and you will certainly appreciate the Czech touch on the style of service including fantastic glassware and pouring style. Beers themselves are refreshing and resemble typical Czech lager and Pilsner flavors. What an amazing experience. Place was packed and yet comfortable with many guests trying all offered beers. Cohesion also has a Nice symbiotic relationship with local food trucks which stimulate thirst and passion for good beer! "Na zdravi" is authentic and real here! Find this place and you won't regret it!
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
I'm not big on European style beers but I came here anyway since I'm on a Denver brewery journey. It was a nice taproom and the bartender was nice. I got a flight of five beers and I enjoyed four of them. This place knows what it's doing with beer. I'm glad I chose to come here.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Good ol' word of mouth marketing! My neighbor told me about this brewery that just opened up SUPER close to our houses. That could get dangerous. There's a few parking lots around here (one right next to the brewery) but I ended up next to the library like the directionally challenged person I am and just walked. Love the new look and smell of everything! High ceilings, beautiful wooden furniture, and modern décor. It's like rustic meets industrial? Anyways, you can walk right up to the counter and get the lowdown on the menu by the friendly bartenders. I've always dismissed the concept of beer foam, but that all changed when they explained the purposeful varieties of foam levels. I got the pale lager, which was a refreshing way to start my afternoon. They open at 2pm on Tuesdays (when I went) and with free WiFi and outlets, I'm seriously coming here all the time now. Why work from home when you can frequent a neighborhood beer bar? Not sure if they're pet friendly, but there's indoor seating and an outdoor patio, so I'd guess so. Nothing makes me more excited than checking out a new local spot and introducing others to it... especially Yelpers! Their "Czech Pronunciation Guides" posted at every table and bar is a great learning tool, and whoever puts together the music playlist knows how to keep the beats (and beer) flowing chill on a weekday afternoon.
google avatar

Becca B.

Yelp
This place has it all. The vibes are immaculate, beers are some of the best lagers and pilsners I've ever had. Dare I say they're better than Bierstadt?! Regardless, the beer is super high quality. The bathroom is down a craaaazy long hallway so don't wait too long to go!
google avatar

Gina K.

Yelp
With a plethora of breweries to choose from this one stands out. With their Czech style beers, brewed on site and modern decor combined with a German style pub, and large patio it's the perfect stop for a cold beer. Being a very new brewery it was unclear if they just didn't expect the response as to their opening or what. When we arrived there was to be 4 of their ow beers on tap but they ran out and only 2 were still available (light and dark lager). I enjoyed the light lager while my husband partook in drinkability and flavor of the dark lager. With a limited selection of their own brews, they offer 4-5 guest brews as well. A spot worth checking out. Note, food or food truck was made available but, again they just opened so that could be in future plans.
google avatar

Zach P.

Yelp
Im really loving that Cohesion is so close by. The Czech beer is different from my usual IPA, but it's great to have some low ABV options. Staff did a good job explaining the beers and how the style works. The patio is quite large and nice to be able to bring dogs. Plenty of parking too! It's tucked in the back, so if you think you are in the wrong spot, you aren't. Cheers!
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
First off the interior and the sunlight was great... but I just wasn't blown away. The highest % was 4.8 which came as a shock. I think it's a Czech thing but beer is served with a lot of foam which again, was just different BUTTTT the kicker which threw me for a loop was the bathroom was literally in a different building as it it an industrial area with shared restrooms and drinking beer, I need to use the restroom a lot. Affter the 2nd hike, we decided to go elsewhere. It literally is about 150 steps away (I counted lol) which is crazy to me. The bartenders were lovely so I guess I personally just didn't love it BUT try them out... what do I know!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Love the vibe here. Cohesion does not have the typical "hipster Denver brewery" vibe, which I found to be an awesome change of pace. Although the menu is fairly limited, there is an option for everybody. I went with the 12 degree and it was a great first Czech beer to try! The mugs the beer is served in were also really fun compared to your average pint glass. Cohesion typically has a food truck onsite, but also sells cheese curds and chips from Denver Chip Co. A couple things to note: (1) proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required to enter (2) the location is really bizarre. If you show up thinking "where in the world am I right now", you are probably in the right place!
google avatar

Sonia S.

Yelp
It's lovely to choose your own amount of beer foam a Czech style This brewery is pretty big and they have a patio area you can sit and enjoy your beer.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the beers here. They're all Czech style and yummy. I got the winter style one and the 10°. Both flavorful and easy to drink. My friend got the smoked beer - so unique! I liked the space and that it was airy and comfy without being too loud. Mama Joe's biscuits were a yummy dinner food truck too!
google avatar

Chelsey B.

Yelp
If you have ever been to RINO area you are very familiar with the RINO parking. It's always time consuming to find a good spot to park and time consuming after your visit to find your car. Cohesion Brewery is a great change to the RINO scene as it has ample parking and awesome brews! They bring a new style of beer to the Denver brewery scene. The brewery is large with tons of seating! Lots of open space inside and a cute little bar set up. I will definitely be checking their brewery food truck schedule in the future and plan to bring visiting guests here. The new and popular BonutsDonuts was a great addition to our Saturday visit as well!
google avatar

SeeingElvis K.

Yelp
As an avowed Euro-centric brew-style fan (some may say "freak"), I had followed the Cohesion startup progress with anxious, eager anticipation. I have been a few times now and am only too pleased to announce that my expectations have been met and exceeded. Class, class, class. The beer. is. exquisite. Space is super cool and the staff outstanding (shout-out to my "Brixton" friend), parking easy. Top three in Denver for me, top four entire Front Range.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the beer here. They have a very small/limited menu since they primarily carry traditional Czech style beers, but it was an interesting experience and different than the Denver norm
google avatar

Weslie I.

Yelp
Woke up this morning *craving* a tmavé with a foam shot on the side. It's like the cappuccino of beers. So delicious. (Insert chefs kiss). If only I didn't live across the country so I could indulge in these whenever I wanted. Ugh, I'll just stick to coffee until my next trip to Denver.
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
As a big fan of breweries across the US, Cohesion is now on the short list as one of the favorites. Cohesion provides a unique experience for the US brewery scene, offering only Czech style lagers - their quality is amazing, staff is kind and informative, and the ambiance is superb. Extremely impressed with the quality operation that this group has put together and can't wait to visit again once I'm back in Denver
google avatar

Deya Z.

Yelp
i'd been wanting to try cohesion for a while so when i ventured to denver for work, i had to try it! it's a great czech beer place in GES/Cole neighborhood. the wifi and outlets made it easy to get a little bit of work done. i had pale lager which was just perfect. i love that this place didn't see too uppity or hip & had some reasonable abv's compared to other newer places!
google avatar

Teri F.

Yelp
Love this brewery! Great beer and they always have food trucks there. Go on Thursday when Raven Bread is there. Raven has their homemade pretzels and often extra bread (which is to die for)! Love the staff too! They have a large patio and it's a great place to go in the summer too!! Highly recommend!

Taylor H.

Yelp
Cohesion is a brewery that literally is a slice of Prague in north Denver! And Piper is literally a beer maid that is as Czech as you can get without knowing Czech. If you're looking for a authentic Czech watering hole, definitely check this place out (no pun intended)

Alan S.

Yelp
Good beer. Interesting take on a brewery. Limited styles on tap. What they have is very good Czech style lagers. A little more variety suits my taste better. Did enjoy what they have.
google avatar

Wes M.

Yelp
"The best Czech-style lagers this side of Europe" either excites you or it doesn't. If you have an open mind or already know you're into that, you'll love this place. Otherwise take your three-stars-because-the-bathrooms-down-a-long-hall "Elite Yelp" reviewin' ass down the road to any of Denver's fine IPA breweries. More foam for the rest of us!
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
Love the czech beers, love the dog friendly patio. Make sure you have your vaccine card.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
If you're going to only provide a couple of beers, you better do them damn well. And Cohesion certainly does. We branched out of our normal rut tonight and decided to try and somewhere new - this was on my radar, so we headed north. And I'm so glad we did! E and I both got half liters of each of their beers, a light and a dark lager, and switched off halfway through. Both were thoroughly delicious! We loved this place and will definitely be coming back again.
google avatar

Stephen Y.

Yelp
Staff are very friendly and there is a wide selection of beers. The dine in experience is very good, this is a hidden gem in area, would highly recommend this brewery.

Drewbee L.

Yelp
I have found my go to brewery in Denver. Some of the best lagers I've ever had. They stay true to the Czech style and traditions. The Mliko shots are my favorite. I never thought I would say a glass full of foam is amazing but it truly is. The sweetness of the tmavy dark lager in all foam makes for a perfect creamy beer shot. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to guide you through the menu. If haven't Czeched this place out, do yourself a favor and get down there!
