15 Excellent Margaritas to Try in San Diego | Eater

"Play classic arcade games in a stylish, grown-up setting at Coin-Op Game Room in the Gaslamp Quarter. This barcade boasts an old school lineup of games, with the added allure of inventive cocktails. Their fun bar bites put a fresh spin on familiar favorites like wings, pizza, loaded fries, along with the La Bamba Margarita, a well-balanced blend of Astral Blanco, aloe, falernum liqueur, and pineapple and lime juice. Plus, enjoy play all games for free on the first Sunday of the month." - Mary Beth Abate

25 Bars in San Diego Supporting Joshua Tree | Eater

"Like its North Park sibling, this Gaslamp bar is a gamer’s paradise, this time in the busiest neighborhood in the city. Whether during international pop culture conventions or post-baseball games, Gaslamp can get slammed, but a few sips of the Desert Dreams (Westward Whiskey, juniper syrup, agave, lemon, and bitters) and you’ll feel like you’re miles out into the arid scrublands, away from the big crowds." - Vox Creative

Stopped in for some drinks and games last night. To be clear, bartender was great- very friendly, made great recommendations and the drinks were good. When playing the games, there were several that just ate our money and didn't allow us to play unless we put in more coins. I think we made change for a $20 bill and probably wasted half of that on games that just took our money (Mario kart, pong game, pac man, pinball). We didn't make a complaint last night because it was just the one bartender and honestly it was just 20 bucks, but this morning I saw that I was also double charged for the photobooth (on a credit card) which is just irritating. Just be aware if you are going to play games- felt a little scammy, and probably won't return.

I was here for a work related event where a lot of people were around. Although the decor was pretty cool, they were blasting music so loud that my ears have been ringing for days. This is pretty unacceptable, and I know multiple other people from the event that suffered hearing damage for no reason. I could understand if we forgot earplugs to a concert, but this is a bar.

The drinks and food are great. The games are in good condition and they have most of the old school favorites as well and newer games. The only downside is that they no longer give coins at the bar and you have to use the ATM which charges $3 and only gives 20 dollar bills so you spend a lot for the games. They do have free play Sundays though which is a good value.

"Security" prevented my (sober) friends/coworkers from coming back in because they didn't use the gate to go out and talk on the sidewalk. Said "if they weren't civilized or respectful enough to use the gate, they weren't civilized or respectful enough to come back in." There was no confusion: we had the entire place booked out. This was a pure power trip. The smallest amount is power I've ever seen go to one dude's head. As long as this red-bearded "security" works here making arbitrary rules about things that don't matter, nobody should go here. Literally haven't seen adults treated with such disrespect in my life. And haven't seen such a power trip since I was in Catholic school.

Update: Now they're lying in their response here. Wish I could update this score to zero stars. AVOID THIS PLACE Garbage. My company booked out the whole place and they not only couldn't keep up with the food, but the bouncer wouldn't even let people back in after they left because they hopped the thigh-high gate to talk to each other. He stopped them and said that they weren't allowed back in "because [they] jumped the fence instead of going out the gate like civilized people" The people he wouldn't let back in weren't drunk and weren't being disruptive. There are no rules against this posted, it was simply a red-bearded "security" guy on a power trip. "If only you had been respectful and civilized enough to leave through the gate I wouldn't have to do this" he said to them. Would never ever recommend anyone go here as long as that's the kind of power-tripping "security" they employ
