I am delighted to have discovered this wonderfully authentic Salvadoran food. It truly tastes like it was made at home. The service is exceptional, and the food is prepared quickly.

The food was great. I tried the pupusas revueltas and they were a good size. Just by eating two pupusas I got full. I also loved the romantic setting with the dimmed lights. I will return again.

The food tastes good and prices are reasonable. That would be the main reason we keep coming back... Otherwise, they lack customer service. They are always "shortstaffed". Be ready to wait for utensils until your food is already cold, and to get the waiter's attention you have to stand up at the entrance of the kitchen.

The pupusas are great... the wait time, the male egos, and the arrogance from the males and females are a disgrace. The only times I've ordered and say down to eat there was when i had time to waste and took with me to do while i waited. Pupusas do not take 40 minutes to make. I've noticed Spaish restaurants also take forever. I'm wondering if central Americans really strive to be like time Spanish that they're acting like them. I rarely go because of all this. Had they better customer service, we would more often!

It's good and fairly quick. Sometimes the pupusas are already made and simply reheated for when you order. Seating is not comfortable. Got a little tummy... good luck getting into the seat. Benches and tables are bolted down so you can't move them. Good service. Price is ok.

We come fairly often. My mom loves their pupusas made with "rice flour" (arina de aroz) which is hard to find. Reason they are not getting a 5 is because of the wait and parking.. They do not have parking (you have to drive around the block); and the wait to receive your food is +30 mins (Every. Single. Time. 😒) Their horchata is bomb.!! (Note: Salvadorian horchata is completely different than popularly known Mexican Horchata.) The vibe feels cultural I love how it's set up. We normally go for breakfast or lunch.

I'm sad to say I won't be coming back if I'm in the area. The food portions has diminished. This has been my go to place to eat Pupusas in the area. When I arrived there was one customer seated. Soon after I arrived another party that was double the size of my party was served first. They had their drinks served and their order taken before we were acknowledged. Our order comes with coffee we had to ask for it because the waitress didn't bring it with the other drinks. The. It took some time to get some milk for the coffee. Then another larger party arrived and they ordered and ended up getting their food before we did. Our food arrived and we were missing utensils and curtido. If you know pupusas you can't have them without it. I have to say I felt discriminated because I'm obviously not Salvadorian. The pupusas were small, but good. The curtido (pickled cabbage salad) was also good and the salsa. I ordered a tamale that was very nice in size, but was flavorless. The horchata was good even if it was pricey I didn't mind. The service has always been inconsistent, but I didn't mind because everything well priced and good. Come at your own risk.

This place is my go to for pupusas. I had their revuelta and loroco ones and both were delicious. Their fried banana with beans was great as well. Their price is extremely reasonable and their service is quick! The ladies at the front are always nice. The restaurant gives me whole in the wall vibes and I love the paintings and pictures they have around.

Very clean pupuseria, which to me is important because most of them are always dirty. I'm definitely coming back.

I used to be a Huntington Park native but moved to the SF Bay Area, and have been wanting to find that original LA Salvadorian authentic taste. Cojutepeque was a recommendation from family in HP and it did not disappoint. Ordered 2 Pupusas Revueltas, pastelitos de carne, and El Guanaco, which is an Elote Tamal with refried black beans and sour cream. An horchata de morro is a must. The curtido was on point, the cheese in the pupusas was very flavorful along with the fillings, the pastelitos had a nice crunch and great flavor, the horchata was not overly sweet, it was very nice. Overall, I was highly satisfied with the entire meal. The service was quick, attentive and we had a regular check back every few minutes. It is a hole in the wall, very modestly put together with images of El Salvador's scenery. Oh and you definitely won't be blasted by loud obnoxious music which is always nice when having a family meal.

Eating at Cojutepeque has become a Saturday morning tradition with my mom and daughter. I always want to try other dishes but im drawn to the pupusas de chicharrón con queso. De pupusas are filled to the brim with a delicious mixtures of ground pork and cheese and complimented beautifully with the curtido and salsa. Every time I think of taking a picture, I am too late as the delicious aroma of the fresh off the comal pupusas overtake me and I dive right in. Can't wait for next Saturday morning to eat my pupusas once again.

I've been coming here for two years now with my wife, as my go to Salvadoran Pupuseria restaurant. It never lets us down, parking is a bit tough but it's worth the troubles, (parking is easy after 6pm). They stack their pupusas with cheese and meat. The ensalada drink is amazing! I highly recommend this spot if your looking for authentic Salvadoran food. Love the pictures of El Salvador inside makes me feel like I'm back in San Miguel, El Salvador. Great flavor and great price. Gets packed when La Selecta plays they have huge TV's.

Yum, yum, yum. First time visit and it was very good. The pupilas were very good. The sope de camarón was spectacular. The shrimps were big and the soup itself flavorful. The empanadas de frijol were a hit. Both my kids ate the first order up. They also gobbled up the tamal de pollo and the order of plátanos. I am super picky with curtido. For me, it will make or break a restaurant. The curtido here was fabulous. Not too vinegary, not dry and has a perfect amount of spice. The ensalada (drink) was loaded with fruit which is always great. The staff was wonderful too. Yesenia and Felipe were both very sweet. I also loved the added touch to the photos on the walls of different locations in El Salvador. The only downside is the parking. For me anyway. I do not parallel park and it's street parking. I parked at the dollar tree accesos the street. I don't mind walking. Hahaha.

Good food but they messed up my order which was highly disappointing. More attention should be placed to detail. Ordered the "Especial típica" and they did not include my rice, beans, or plantain. I suggest if you visit checking before you leave. To the manager, ensure your employees pay more attention to detail.

My girlfriend and I visited Cojutepeque for breakfast, as we were in the area. We both ordered the Salvadoran breakfast which merely consists of eggs, beans, plantains, and cream. Considering that there were only like 4 other patrons in the restaurant, the ~40 minute wait was too long for such a simple dish. The food itself was pretty decent aside from the fact that my eggs were slightly raw still.

This by far is the best Pupuseria Restaurant I've been to. I been coming here for more than 30+ years!!! The Ensalada is the best. The only set back is parking but I don't care if I have to park two blocks away I love this place, the gentleman who has been working there for years is very nice and has always provided exceptional service.

My mom and I have been coming to Cojutepeque for years. We love the pupusas here because they're a good size and reasonably stuffed. We usually order pupusas de queso con loroco and revueltas. The horchata is just how I like it and the yuca frita is really good too. The restaurant is a little dark and shabby looking but the food makes up for it! Mi mamá y yo hemos estado viniendo a Cojutepeque por años. Nos encantan las pupusas aquí porque son de buen tamaño y las llenan bien. Usualmente ordenamos pupusas de queso con loroco y pupusas revueltas. El plato de yuca frita también está delicioso. El restaurante tiene un ambiente poco oscuro y el interior necesita un poco de mantenimiento pero la comida esta buena

This is a authentic Salvadoran Restaurant ! There Horchata is the Best! It is authentic Salvadoran like grandma use to make There pupusa are good, there about. 2 dollars a pop, I will drive about 20 min just for the horchata it's really That Good! I will be back soon!

Best Salvadorian food I've had the Popusas are bomb!! reasonable price and well staffed I really enjoyed their fruit water ( ensalada) it's very refreshing don't forget about the grate shrimp cocktail I love the atmosphere feels like you are at home and moms cooked food my whole experience was great waitress was very nice and polite I will definitely come back and refer friends and family

I've been coming here since I was maybe 3 years old. This place is the best. Better than any other pupusa place I've been to. Love coming with my family. It's tradition for us to come on someone's bday.

Best desayunos in town, service it's good enough there it's some things that probably can be improve but still the best desayunos

Such a yummy little and hidden spot in HP. It's a humble spot, kept clean, good food at very reasonable price. The service is good (they bring you your food within a reasonable time, good presentation, and again, the food taste good) but they aren't overly friendly. I've had their traditional Salvadoran breakfast and sampled their pupusas revueltas, and it has such a delightful mom made feel that I haven't tried anything else. I would agree, call in advance or for pick-up, especially during weekends.

I've been coming to this place for a couple years now. It's great! But it has its downfalls. First, the food is authentic and tastes very good. The biggest problem is the service. It's horrible! You'll probably be waiting for a while for service even on a slow day. Some of the staff seem to not care for customer service. You'll be better off ordering take out since you'll enjoy the food and don't have to put up with the bad service. Just make sure they have your order correct. One time I had to go all the way back to return an order given to me that was meant for another customer. The owner said, "sorry," then made me wait to cook my food. He never offered anything for free or seem to care that I had to come all the way back or have to wait again for their mistake. Again, BAD customer service! or else this would've had 4 or 5 stars. Other than that, the food tastes delicious!

Craving some pupusas? Look no further this place is always a sure sensation. Yes please come on a day when you can relax and enjoy an authentic meal as this is a salvadorean restaurant and even though we live in LA where everyone thinks they are important here no one will care if you are in a hurry so go to jack in the box if you're in a hurry, here the food is made the moment it is ordered so it can take some time. I love the environment it is filled with good energy and the smell of the food is to die for. Today i'm having their house breakfast which consists of eggs with ham, beans, fried plantain, side of cheese, and hand made tortillas. Must admit this is a big breakfast but I rarely come to this part of LA anymore so I have to take full advantage of the situation lol... Anyways as far a the food goes I also took the initiative to order a pupusa since it is the main reason a lot of people eat salvadorean food and let me tell you it is still poppin'. The cheese is fresh and delicious, they know how to make them just right here. Again I will remind you to be patient with the wait as it will take some time to be served my recommendation is to order an appetizer with your coffee if you're starving when you walk in here. Try their yucca frita con chicharron while you wait it is fire!!!!

Honestly one of the beast places you can get pupusas. I came to this place for over ten years straight but ever since I moved up to the Bay Area I haven't found a place quite like it! Their pupusas revueltas are sooooo good! I definitely recommend those if you are a fan of pork! Also their fresh waters are made to perfection! The service was not bad but the wait time was a tad bit long. Overall, a great place to get some delicious Salvadoran food!

Best pupusas in h.p .. but call your order in and pick up. And check if you have a fork in the bag. For some reason they ALWAYS forget the forks! And it sucks if you're taking it to the park to enjoy it back to work and not going straight home.

Best Salvadorian food I've tasted outside of El Salvador! The restaurant is very clean and the owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend the pupusas. They are so good I travel about 20 miles from my house to get some of that deliciousness!

Definitely my favorite place to order my Salvadoran food! It doesn't compare to may Restaurants in Los Angeles

I love this place. I have been coming here since I can remeber. The food is honestly great. The horchata is really really good. I totally recommend it. The quesadilla is also pretty great. Gave it a 3 star simply because sometimes they can be rude and the service can be pretty slow.

I use to love this place. I was there yesterday and ordered pupusas and an atol de elote. The pupusas were okay but not like before the cheese use to melt and now I can barely taste it. The atol was disgusting very sweet and had to much flour or whatever they put.

This place has some of the best pupusas around !! They might have to work on how the restaurant looks but if you're looking for some pupusas this is the spot to go to in HP. Don't go to Cojutepeque #2 on Pacific though the waiters take forever at that one !! So remember to go to the one on Gage ! Way better service and they always have the big games playing which is another plus !!

The food is good good price the service really crappy i ask if we can watch the news she said another customer is watching tv if you're going to lye don't pull this bullshit and then you wonder why people don't leave a tip.

This is my favorite Salvadorian restaurant in the world. I have been coming here all my life.Their pupusas are delicious, they even have vegetarian pupusas. I suggest you get a revuelta pupusa, which contains pork, cheese, and beans. Oh and they also have great tasting plantains! I do suggest you take your food to go because their service is not the best. They have no free refills, which is totally uncool for a restaurant. Other than that, make sure you stop by because this place is authentic!

I buy food here for the people I work with .. I love their Pupusas & Service .. I call it in an hour before just to give them time to do their stuff .. totally understanble from the other comments about service but in their defense the restaurant is always full of customers & to be honest Salvis (no offense) can be rude most of the time. I've been a witness of how some customers are rude to the lady/guy at the front counter and it's not cool.

Clean, quiet spot. Fast service. The experience was better than the pupusas. I would eat here again , pupusas I would rate. 4 stars. Everythjn else looked good .

Customer service horrible(lady that runs orders it's plain stupid n careless,the guy even worse took him 15min to give me a drink,waitress old man lazy as fuck because he goes to kitchen to eat while he wait for orders),I once ordered to go ,got there on time n my order wasn't ready on top of that I had ordered a Caldo de gallina when i got home n open the box only to find disappointment it was the most lousy portion of chicken ever seen,supposedly it was 1/2 chicken but to me looked like bones n some lil meat on them not mention they has the audacity to remove chicken from it for next customer I guess for a total cost of $15.99 (that was first time) (2nd time I had ordered extra chicken on caldo de gallina $23 but still to lousy amount of chicken left on what it was supposed to be a whole chicken!!! DONT COME HERE it's not worth it anymore,they raise prices but not amount of food.

The Pupusas here are good. They aren't as good as mom makes but they satisfy the craving. The Tamales de Elote con frijoles y crema are great! Pastelitos de Carne or ok they have to much achiote for my liking. As another reviewer has stated costumer service is bad. If you are planning on eating here for lunch call in your order otherwise you'll never make it back in time. They could have better service but the food is good and authentic so I am willing to overlook that.

This is only phone experience. I called them to order some pupusas and they did not answer my call. It was around 8:00 pm. I thought they might have been busy. Then the lady answer the phone a second time , and I told her my order and she said they were closed. The signs say at 9:00 pm they close and in yelp says at 9:00 pm as well. She said she will not take my order because they where close to closing since it was 8:15. Horrible customer service. Never again ordering from this place. GET YOUR HOURS STRAIGHT!

All around good place to get your Salvi fix. They even have a bunch of cool Salvi stuff on the wall including a slang dictionary. So funny. All the pupusas and plantains I have had are awesome, no masa pockets (you know if you had it)and good size pupusas. Good deal and decent service depending on the server( sometimes they don't seem to know what is goign on). The pork is especially tasty there for me, almost has a spicy thing going on. I recommend the all pork pupusa!

I've been coming to this restaurant for decades! I must add that the quality of the food has gone down some, but given the many pupuserias I have visited, this one is one of the best. Yes the restaurant itself lacks any type of atmosphere and hasn't been updated for years, but I feel that the food makes up for it. We have stopped eating in and only order for to go. My favorite is the pupusas revueltas and their "ensalada" fruit drink. Also their curtido is my favorite, I can eat it all day! My family and I have never gotten sick from eating their food and from my experience, only a few times has the food been a bit bland. And yes, the quality of customer service isn't the best I have experienced but since I always go with my mom, she handles them (I guess it takes a fellow Salvadorian to do so!) and makes sure that our order is correct and well portioned. Prices have gone up, but in my opinion, they don't seem unreasonable.
