Cuban Cafe Colada Shop Will Open Inside the First Bloomie’s Department Store, in Virginia | Eater DC

"Inside that Bloomie’s location will be a 900-square-foot Colada Shop with its own separate entrance and patio that plans to sell Cuban coffee drinks, croquetas, pressed sandwiches, and rum cocktails such as mojitos and pina coladas (the restaurant has submitted an application for an alcohol license and aims to open by late August). Colada Shop will also get a mobile bar cart with a running sink to move around the store for promotions or private events on the patio; co-owner Daniella Senior says she sees several “synergies” with Bloomie’s target customer and notes the brand’s typical customer is around 25 to 40, well-traveled, and treats eating as a way to explore other cultures. The newest location marks a return to Virginia for Colada Shop: the original opened in Sterling, Virginia, in 2016 and closed last summer, the company developed an urban following from a tiny spot near the corner of 14th Street and T Street NW, and it expanded during the pandemic with roomier cafes and expanded menus from group chef Mario Monte on the Southwest Waterfront and in Potomac, Maryland." - Gabe Hiatt

Stopped by the Colada Shop in Mosaic District on a recent Saturday afternoon to grab cold drink and was pleasantly surprised at the setup. This location is next to, but almost an extension to another store with an entrance between the two places. There’s a vibrant, wall-sized mural on the wall and it’s like you walked into a tropical bar/cafe/coffee shop with the vibes, food, music, decor & art. There’s counter seating, a small seating area and small bar seating packed into this location. There’s also some patio seating, weather permitting. While it can feel a little cramped, I’d go back for a their hora feliz aka happy hour everyday from 4p-8p, or to try their seasonal special bites and sips. There’s even Colada Shop merch including coffee for the coffee lovers.

Both female baristas who worked there were very rude. They made my coffee very bitter, and when I told them it was too bitter and asked if I could have some sweetener syrup, they told me I had to pay for it. I said okay and paid for it, but the coffee was still very bitter. When I asked for more sweetener because it wasn’t enough, she said I would need to pay again. Zero customer service - very rude. This was at 9 am, and I’m never coming back. Both baristas had very bad attitudes I’m local and I’ve been there a in a different occasion and only those two females have the worst attitude to see customer service literally ruined my day do better!

We had a Colada Shop location closer to our home that we frequented until its closure a few years ago. We miss having it around but the next best thing is to travel to Mosaic for our Cuban cuisine fix. You can't really go wrong with anything on their menu, but I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the pork was tender and flavorful. It's a filling meal in itself, but order it with the plantain chips and you're in for a real treat. We also love their guava and cheese pastelitos and coffee drinks. Service is top notch, even though it's quick service, our server brought our order out to our table despite the lunch rush. Its location is adjacent to Bloomie's with direct access to the store inside. Parking is at the multiple parking garages in the area, so expect a short 5 minute walk. Can't wait to visit again!

I did not eat. I only got a latte and it was delicious. The cafe is really pretty and comfortable and this Colada Shop is located in a very cute neighborhood and shopping area. Easy parking everywhere : outside as well as indoor public parking. Around you will find stores like Bloomingdale’s, Target for big, Barnes for big stores and many other small boutiques and restaurants. It is a vibrant area.

The place is nice and cozy, the coffees were good. But, the pastries especially tiramisu cheesecake, lemon cheesecake and tres leches were extremely sweet! The way that we almost throw most of them away after spending over $40.

Google
(Breakfast review only) We popped in here because Maman was packed and dang we were pleasantly surprised how amazing the ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was as well as the beef empenada (super buttery flakey crust). They were a bit understaffed so it took a minute, but overall this place is a solid option for a quick grab n go coffee + breakfast option that’s not just sweet pastries.

Google
It was my first time visiting this place. I ordered a latte with oat milk, and my friend had a cappuccino. Unfortunately, the latte didn’t taste great—the oat milk they used wasn’t creamy or flavorful. Additionally, even though there were no other customers in line, the service was slow for just two coffees. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

We stopped here for a quick bite after shopping at Bloomingdale’s and were so happy we did. The beef empanada, chicken empanada and spinach empanada were all delicious. The service was very quick and the space was clean with a good vibe.

Yelp
Actually surprised this shop beat my expectations. I think their drinks are reasonably priced and taste better than other competitors at Mosaic. They share space with Bloomies so while their indoor space is a little bit small, they have seating both indoor and outdoor. I stopped by with my cousin for a quick bite and we both got the iced cafe con leche and two empanadas deal. The shop uses cuban coffee so it is unlike other coffees I have tried before. We were afraid the cafe con leche would be too strong but at regular "miami sweet" sugar, the drink was perfectly balanced. Since this drink impressed us so much we are left wondering if their other drinks are just as good. As for the empanadas, we got two bacon, egg, and cheese empanadas. The empanadas came out hot and still steaming. The empanadas are great but the green sauce provided is a must. *Don't forget to put in your phone number for points. After ordering two drinks and two empanadas we have a $5 to spend on our next visit!

Yelp
Service: order from QR code. Ambiance: super cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Food: I had the empanadas and they were very good. The pastry was light and crispy. I had the beef and chicken. I prefer beef. It also came with a green dipping sauce. This small restaurant is located across from the Whole Foods in Clarendon. There are lots of restaurants to choose from. I'm glad my friend picked this one since the service was fast and the food and drinks came out pretty quickly.

Yelp
First off, Colada Shop may be an order by QR code establishment, but the service was really excellent. Two servers, and both were personable and thoughtful. The food was also delicious, and there's a good selection ranging from entrees and sandwiches to a la cart pastries, as with other Colada Shops. This cafe opens into another store, which I wasn't expecting and which means their indoor dining area is a little cramped. I'd definitely come back, though, especially when it's warm enough to enjoy the spacious outdoor seating.

Yelp
Love Love Love! Stopped by during Happy Hour and got an assortment of tasty snacks! Ordered from our table via a QR code. Super easy and quick service! This shop is so underrated! They offer a variety of beverages. Theres truly something for everyone here!

Yelp
Tucked away in the Mosaic District, this small coffee shop and eatery is worth a try. There is limited seating so the best option is to order and plan to carry out. I opted for a half-sweet cortadito but I honestly think they didn't put any sugar in it because it tasted like it had none. No biggie. For a snack, we had the Havana Ooh La La, which is a tower with 4 empanadas, 4 croquettes, plantain chips, brownie bites, and sides for dipping. You get to pick the empanada and croquette types. It's a lot of fried food, so be warned, but worth a try. The empanadas and croquettes are not as good as what you'd get in South Florida but they're good for Northern Virginia. Next time I stop in at this location or one of their others, I plan to try one of their sandwiches.

Yelp
Popped into this cute little shop for coffee and a work call. Ordered drinks to not loiter. I ordered the Cafe Cubano (size comparison picture). I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting such a small drink. Though it was super strong! I waited for the worker behind the counter to acknowledge me. I paced between where he was and the register hoping he'd notice me. Finally, I tapped my credit card on the counter and the noise triggered a response from the drawing he was doing on a piece of receipt paper. I think I would like to return to try the food and/or their happy hour!

Yelp
FOOD/DRINK: 5/5 SERVICE: 5/5 EXPERIENCE: 5/5 I always say that I took granted of the fact that we used to have a Colada Shop in Sterling. Now the Mosaic District one is a special treat. My husband is Cuban so he craves it from time to time. This one is kinda hidden in the Bloomie's and I wish it had more seating. It tends to get filled up with people on their phones. We decided to order an assortment of items for a shared brunch. I got an oatmilk latte with dulce de leche and he got a guava spritzer (which he said tasted like a less sweet Jarrito). Be aware that their coffee is strong! We also ordered - -guava pastelitos -beef empanada -breakfast empanada -media noche sliders -yucca fries -ham croquetas Everything was perfection except the yucca fries - they were a little undercooked/firm. The media noche sliders were a new item and I hope they keep it! This is a wonderful welcome to the sandwich but not having to commit to the full one. The pastelitos (I got just guava, he got guava + cheese) were a little overfilled but the pastry was flaky without being too buttery. The croquetas are a fan favorite as usual. We also had a mix-up where they thought they brought all of the food out, but we were still waiting on the empanadas. But I just asked for them up at the register and they brought them out to us. The empanadas were wonderfully flaky and warm. BIG bonus of being able to order at the table! We will be back again!

Yelp
A smaller Colada in the Bloomies in Mosaic. The drinks are great, and the empanadas are awesome (I had one of the limited edition Mita collaborations with curried plantains and lime aioli... really good!) Service was quick and you can sit outside and take in all of the environment and dynamicness of Mosaic!

Yelp
I think people are really in love with the idea of there being authentic Cuban food in this area, because this was not anywhere near what real Cuban cafe food tastes like. The Cuban sandwich while big was mostly dry toasted bread with overcooked pork and ham and an inconsistent amount of cheese and pickles. Both the iced Café con Leche, and the Cuban espresso martini were mid at best. The service and ambience were truly what saved this review as the outdoor seating and the mini bar coupled with the decor and the staff friendliness were really good. I should also mention that they encourage you to order from the app, which is spread out around the restaurant bar and tables. Last thing I will mention is that this restaurant is attached to Bloomies.

Yelp
This location is very small but there is plenty of seating. The chai latte I ordered was so tasty and delicious, you knew the chai they made it with was a great blend. The cashier was able to to accommodate to my dairy free needs. I liked seeing the variation of Cuban desserts they had to try and the decor of the location exemplified the Cuban culture in their art and their food and beverages. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Coffee is great here! But the churro is not, undercooked for my liking. I definitely recommend the guava pastry, so good. Nice small store with good service.

Yelp
I had a lovely rainy day experience in this Colada shop. There was a bit of a wait in line since all of the associates were busy working but all of the customers were friendly and chatting about the menu. My friend had the traditional chicken empanadas and ordered some extra ones to go. I had the Veggie Cuban and it was large and yummy. I enjoyed my experience and would come back

Yelp
Went here on a relaxing afternoon; I definitely wanted to check out this place since I heard good things about their coffee. Located in the Mosaic District, it's right across from my favorite beauty store Sephora. I think the place is very small but there are many tables to sit down at once you get your food/drinks. I can see it being a great place to hang out or grab a quick bite before the next big event. There's a touch screen outside if you want to order from there too and I think that adds more ease if you don't feel like stepping into the store. That's a plus on convivence. I got the Mojito Cold Brew consisting of Cold Brew Coffee, Mint, Lime, Cuban Crema. I honestly think that it was a very unique taste as I could taste more of the mint than the crema itself but not much of the lime either. It was a very strong cold brew and it would probably wake you up if you like bitter drinks. It was a seasonal drink for the Spring so I had to try it out. I also got three empanadas too! The Spicy Cauliflower Empanada, Chicken Empanada, and the Bacon, Egg, Cheese Empanada. The Spicy Cauliflower wasn't really spicy at all, it had a slight kick but there a lot of Cauliflower to chew. Very soft, I think people who love this would be thrilled there is an option for them. The Chicken Empanada was filled, and each bite there were juices leaking out of the Empanada. I really liked this one. The Bacon, Egg, Cheese Empanada? Absolutely the best out of the three. I would just come back just to order three of these. It reminds me of a hot pocket but wayyyyyy better. Give this place a try if you are in the area!

Yelp
An employee who was getting off their shift spilled a large cup of hot coffee all over me and my two friends--didn't apologize or even acknowledge it, nor did the three working employees who witnessed this. Absolutely floored with this experience, will never visit a Colada Shop again.
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
I had the chicken and beef empanadas and a cold cafe con leche which was super good. I did less sugar and it was delicious. It had the perfect amount of milk, sweetness, and espresso or coffee. There aren't many tropical, Cuban eats in this area and it's nice to have Colada Shop here!
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere of this sit down place is really nice and casual. You seat yourself, order and pay via QR, they bring food out and get your dishes for you. The sandwiches were really good! Mine was bbq chicken guava which I highly recommend for someone who likes bbq sauce. It's definitely different from your standard cubano but I wanted something different. My friend got the standard cubano and really liked it. Just a note that the empanadas are smaller than you'd think, but they are cheap. Would come back again to try their guava pastries or also heard their churro coffee is delicious!!

Yelp
So I have had the luxury of having a little piece of home (Miami) with me at Mosaic in Merrifield, VA. The restaurant Colada boasts a menu similar to what you would see at Vicky's Bakery but with an American twist. Their service today definitely called for me to do a review. It was about twenty minutes until closing time and Evan and Akira were there to assist me with my order. The first time I ate here it was a quick stop for coffee and a croquette and that was last year. I then returned to eat here during my break for work and it did not disappoint. It was midday, not crowded, and I was able to eat another croquette, a chicken empanada, and some plantain chips (aka mariquitas). The second to last occasion I tried a seasonal item, a Teriyaki empanada. The owner was present for that one and it was delicious. A Teriyaki empanada is not something I hear of or come by often but it was the store manager/owner's recommendation to me that day. I returned today and learned that it was indeed a seasonal item, but I was still able to order a chicken empanada, beef empanada, plantain chips, Cuban toast (tostada), and cafe con leche. Evan was kind enough to allow my request to make the cafe con leche (clarito) and extra sweet as that is how I used to have it growing up. His kind and amicable nature made my visit that much better especially since they were close to closing time. What is neat is they also prepare alcoholic beverages. I have yet to try one of those and will have to before I move as they serve margaritas, mojitos, mimosas, old fashioned etc. It is smaller on the inside than the outside but the patio is large enough to accommodate parties of 4 or 5. It is really a great place for a quick bite to eat as they serve more tapas than anything but for me I made it my dinner because it is that good. It was between that and Gran Cata a few blocks down also located in Mosaic because their empanadas are amazing! But I needed my fix of Cuban nostalgia and cuisine. I highly recommend to those looking for a mild introduction to Cuban cuisine. I say mild because some of it is slightly different than the Cuban cuisine I know and grew up eating in Miami, FL but it hits the spot nonetheless. It's a little piece of Miami in Mosaic:) Go check it out for yourself. *The pictures I have are from April of last year so this review is long overdue but still counts I would think:)

Yelp
Delicious iced coffee! Service was great and fast. They were super friendly in explaining my questions regarding their coffee. Their coffee is on the stronger side which I really like. You can also adjust sweetness for your coffee which is nice. It's a small shop with limited indoor seating but there are a couple tables outside for outdoor seating! I would recommend getting a coffee here and walking around the area for sure!
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
This was my second time trying this place, and once again, it wasn't that memorable. The cafe con leche tasted watered down and was too milky for my liking, the espresso taste wasn't really present. The cold brew tasted too acidic and wasn't smooth. The guava bbq pollo sandwich was pretty good though! Very flavorful and the guava + bbq paired very well together. I just wish the sandwich was a little bit more toasted and warm. The vibe of this place is really cute though! Overall, it's an alright place but would not be my first choice in the area for coffee. They do have cocktails and other items on their menu, which may be worth trying.

Yelp
Beware of FRAUD!!! I came here for lunch on Sunday. I tried to use the app but since my friend had already opened a tab, it wouldnt let me finish my order. So I placed my order on the bar screen. My order came out promptly but a few days later I saw that I was charged twice. The first charge was correct, but the second charge had an added tip to it! I called multiple times over three days and the so called manager never picked up, never called back, and placed me on hold for a very long time. I ended up disputing the charge through my credit card. Food was decent but the portion is very small. The tables were dirty so we had to clean it ourselves. All of that would have been fine since its a casual place, but to double charge me, and to actively avoid talking to me to resolve the issue is flat out FRAUD.

Yelp
Cute Cuban shop in mosaic. You can sit at any table and order via QR code. I got a guava leaf negroni which was good, but had a little too much bitters for me. I also got a sweet cream pastelito & picadillo empanada. Both were nice and flaky and flavorful! My friend got a guava & cheese pastelito which was also really good. All the food options looked amazing and I'll def have to come back to try them. they were also priced really well!
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I had gotten more pictures of this place. Was staying at the Archer Hotel and walked down this way and when I saw a Cuban restaurant, I was sold. I have eaten quite a few empanadas in my life and these are by far the best ones I've ever tasted. The outside was so flaky and delicious. The beef was my favorite, but the chicken was delicious as well. The coconut sopa was amazing also. We also had the croquetas and I had an iced matcha cafe which was so good! I'd I'm back in town, this will definitely be a staple for me.

Yelp
I love this place and have been with them since day one when they started in Ashburn many years ago. Glad to see they are still thriving. This shop is in the mosaic district area which is surrounded by amazing places to eat and shop. They are connected to Bloomingdale's so you can browse while you wait if you ordered to go. My go-to faves are the plantain chips with salsa verde, Cuban sandwich and the empanadas. The picadillo are the best imo but the chicken are also ok. Pretty much everything you get here is going to be amazing so definitely give it a shot!

Yelp
Colada is a cute, little shop in the Mosiac District that opens into the store next door. The little shop is such a vibe! They also serve coffee, food, pastries, and with full-service bar. There is bar seating and about 3-4 small tables along the wall. I ordered the Guava & Cheese Pastellito and the Cordadito. Both were delicious and yummy. A great treat between my errands for the day.
google avatar

Jemily H.

Yelp
Delicious cortado!! There are a few things in this world. I love more than a FRESH Cortadito when I'm in Florida and when I'm in Virginia Culotta shop, definitely scratch that itch. The store is small but very colorful and quaint. Many mugs and merch available for purchase. Many unique options and cocktails! Great addition to the Bloomies in mosaic. The perfect pick me up to keep u shopping and caffeinated. It was nice to see the options they had for different types of dairy or customization. For dietary needs. The lovely lady who rang me up at the register gave gave me me great advice on how to make my latte, sweet but not overly sweet and still authentic with plenty of flavor. I will certainly return for a signature late with a Latin twist!
google avatar

Chi L.

Yelp
The service here is always great. Had the opportunity to come here and try out their cocktail and they're delicious. The vibe here is very chill, not many seatings inside, but there are a few outside tables as well, that's great to hangout at when the weather is nice. My must have here is their bake goods. I absolutely love their Guava Oatmeal Cookie. I love oatmeal cookies but many places have it with raisins which I'm not always a huge fan of. The guava with oatmeal is a game changer. It is just slightly sweet with that tropical vibe. An absolutely must try!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was my to-go-place for a quick bite in Mosaic, not anymore. You can't order ONE empanada anymore, they are sold in pairs now. And the croquetas come in orders of four. This is a deal breaker for me because, on my last visit, I paid $20 for two empanadas and four small (over fried) croquetas.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
A little piece of Miami in the Mosaic district - Colada offers an array of sweet and savory pastries, salads, Cuban sandwiches, and desserts. It also boasts a great coffee bar as well as cocktail offerings. Their cafe Cubano is great, and you can order it less sweet if that's your preference. The beef empanadas are well filled and served steaming. The goat cheese croqueta salad was fresh and had a great bite from the pickled veggies. Lastly, the tres leches. One of several offerings (including a Havana blend tiramisu and key lime pie), the tres leches was perfectly chilled on a hot day and the meringue on top was a delicious touch. I'll be back to try the breakfast empanada and Cuban sandwich!

Yelp
Enjoyed another trip out to Mosaic for shopping and the obligatory stop in to Colada for a hot latte and some bite sized nosh. Once again, walked right past Mom & Pop coffee shop, with the too long lines, slow-as-molasses service and the sorriest most overpriced food offerings ever. Thank goodness for having options and for the free enterprise system - competition makes the world go round amiright? :) Colada Shop is just the most chill, casual, laid back little latte shop ever - a little slice of Miami meets Cuba. We ordered a trio of empanadas - many flavors to choose from and the delicious little meat turnovers come piping hot out of the kitchen and fryer. We ordered a side of fried plantains which came with a delicious creamy aioli dipping sauce. A hearty snack for two indeed. The latte menu is extensive - it includes but of course, cafe cubano but also various flavored syrups to add in. We ALWAYS get a hot coconut latte and they make them to perfection every time. Colada Shop fits right in to the hip Mosaic urban town center vibe. Can't say enough great things about this place. Head on over and explore the drink and food offerings here, see and taste for yourself, sit and stay a while and then stroll the walkways, window shop and shop to your heart's content. Make a day of it! What a cool place to spend a lazy afternoon.

Yelp
If you like pina coladas...! I was happy to learn there was a Colada Shop in the Bloomingdale's in the Mosaic District in Fairfax, providing some nourishments, with a full coffee bar, Cuban snacks and of course, pina coladas! Colada Shop is a cute, small space that was inviting. They do have outdoor seating, but there's a bar inside, so... If you want a pick-me-up, they have a lot of different coffee drinks, with seasonal specials. Or if you want something boozy after shopping and want to relax and kick back, they have their pina coladas and all day $6 mojitos! They can also make most of their cocktails non-alcoholic. I enjoyed checking out Colada Shop. Though the space isn't the largest, there was enough seating and the staff was super friendly. Plus, it's right next to Bloomie's. Whenever I'm back in the area, I'd happily visit again for a colada.
google avatar

Cameron E.

Yelp
Don't come here if you expect to chill and get any work done over a drink or coffee. There are Zero outlets anywhere in the cafe area. In Bloomie's, there is one outlet that is going to be taken due to the scarcity. Highly recommend Caboose if you are looking to get a drink and get some work done. Staff are nice but won't bring the drink to your table unless you order food. They need more outlets, it's 2025.
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad at all! Great place to stop in for a snack or lunch. Had three empanadas- the seasonal corn and cheese, and bacon egg and cheese. I liked both but the bacon egg and cheese was not hot in the middle. Friends enjoyed the guava and cheese pastelitos, guava empanada, and vegetarian sandwich. Also loved the mango passion fruit tea! Awesome for a hot summer day.

Yelp
Met some friends in Mosaic for a coworking brunch and we were looking for a fun place to go with wifi access. I was excited to try Colada shop, as I know they have a couple of locations in DC. I didn't realize this one was located inside of Bloomies (which can be dangerous for a person's wallet for sure!)... They have a really cute patio outside, and inside there were a few tables spaced out. Our table was more inside the Bloomies than other tables, so I was able to do some window shopping while I snacked. The ordering process is super easy. Just scan the QR code on the table, add what you want, and then pay--all from your phone! For someone who was there to work on my computer most of the time, I found this super convenient. I was super indecisive about the menu, and after much deliberation opted for a chicken empanada. Empanada description from the menu: "cuban style savory turnover: picadillo (beef), chicken, spinach & cheese, seasonal" I thought it was delicious! I liked how the dough was buttery and flaky and the filling was juicy and packed full of flavor. The dipping sauce that they serve it with is amazing. I want to put it on everything! I washed down my empanada with the HAVANA COLD BREW, their signature blend over ice. I opted to drink it black bc I enjoy black cold brew, and it was very smooth and easy to drink! I wouldn't have minded a little splash of cream, so I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Yelp
Unlike Colada Shop in Potomac, this is not a full service sit down restaurant. This is a nook and cranny of a cafe that is located in the corner of Bloomies (which I found a very dangerous store to be in)... dangerous as in I was about to spend too much money in Bloomies at any point. There are a handful of tables indoors and a cute little patio outside. At each of the tables is a QR code you can scan and place an order directly to their cafe (including payment). I can't say much about the food as we were just there for coffee, but my iced coffee was on point, the service was friendly and quick, and the whole process was smooth and easy. At some of the indoor tables, they have outlets available for use that are set into the ground (which was perfect as I needed to get some work done). My friend got a chicken empanada which she says (and this is a direct quote), "I thought it was very tasty! The dough was really crispy and buttery and the filling was juicy and flavorful. The real star of the show was the dipping sauce... which was really herby and creamy and I would like to buy it by the bottle" Now I'm sad I didn't get an empanada lol. Overall, wouldn't hesitate to pay a visit. Anywhere that serves iced coffee and has half and half is a friend of mine. No thank you to places that only serve iced coffee with some form of seed water or skim milk. Get it together people... coffee and cream are inseparable - and cream is like the only daily indulgence I won't hesitate to imbibe in. I feel like I'm not the only one lol.

It's a cute café with tropical vibes and Cuban food! It was recommended to me because my friend had a good experience at The Wharf location so we were excited to try it at Mosaic. After we had dinner, we were craving anything cold so we wanted to get the Piña Colada Slushees that comes in a pouch. It was not busy inside so we were told that they will bring it to us in the patio when it was ready. After almost 1 hour, it was still not ready and the bar was crowded. We even noticed a group that went in after us left with the same drinks we ordered. When we finally got our drinks, they apologized for the delay due to their machine malfunctioned. They also offered us an extra drink made the traditional way without alcohol! The slushees were flavorful and refreshing, but the one without alcohol was too sweet for us. It was understandable for us that bars can get busy and equipments can be unpredictable, but it's not fair to serve customers out of order. Maybe it's best to wait at the bar for the drink to be ready before sitting at the patio.

Yelp
Nice to have a decent little empanada place at Mosaic. The food was OK. Staff was friendly. It was a good place to grab a quick snack while shopping.

Yelp
This is a small café at Mosaic with indoor and outdoor seating. We were one of the first people there so we had no issues finding a spot to sit. It did start to get busy as we were leaving though so I suggest coming earlier if you want to sit there. The staff were all friendly. I ordered empanadas and and iced coffee. The iced coffee was fine, nothing I would brag about. The empanadas however, were delicious. They were flaky and a decent size. I got the beef, bacon, egg and cheese, and spinach and cheese. They were all really good, but I especially enjoyed the beef. It also came with a little sauce to go with it. I thought everything was reasonably priced and worth coming back for other orders!

Yelp
I love Colada Shop, especially for breakfast. This location is tiny with not a lot of seating, so be prepared. Staff is friendly. I ordered my usual empanadas and an iced cafe con leche, plus a guava pastelito for later. Everything was fantastic. The empanadas are always flavorful and crisp. I love that I can get just a guava pastelito, without the cheese. Colada Shop sells their own coffee beans but if you need them ground, don't buy at this location because they don't have the grinder, which is understandable. Staff is friendly and it was somewhat busy for early on a Monday holiday, when I dined in. Normally, I order to-go online, which works well. Glad to have a location in Mosaic.

Yelp
Surprisingly, Colada Shop is a great place to hang out, grab a sandwich and some coffee with a friend out in Merrifield, and then maybe grab a drink. The food is actually really good for a restaurant connected to a department store. My wife had the Colada Shop Cuban and I got the Salmon Tostada. I also grabbed a cafe bon bon and a mojito after. The cafe bon bon was not too sweet and the mojito could've been stronger but it's still yummy. 10/10 would come back.

Yelp
Came in for a quick bite and needed drink after a long day, I had just missed happy hour which is M-F 3pm-6pm. I got 3 Empanadas for $10, 2 beef which was recommended by the bartender and 1 chicken - the texture of the chicken one reminded me of tuna. The empanadas were just ok, nothing wowed me about them as I expected. I also got the drink with passion fruit, which was tasty but not quite strong and fairly small in proportion. My total came to just under $30 which to me was not worth it. I would come again but possibly only during HH.

Yelp
I give the Havana cold brew an eight out of 10. It's clean, refreshing, and light on the palate. that being said, i feel like it could be more flavorful. It's a nice find for what it is. The only way to make it better would be to source better beans, that's about it.

Yelp
I think this place is really cute if not a bit overpriced. Colada Shop is a smaller cafe attached to Bloomie's in the Mosaic Center. The color scheme and vibe are on point, and having a more casual non-major chain restaurant is a good change of pace for the area. I got the Avocado Toast and the Miami Sunset smoothie. Avocado toast was unique in that it was on Cuban-style bread. Other than that, it was just okay, if not a bit plain. Smoothie was good, and the server was happy to answer my allergen questions. The empanadas looked great, and if I go back I'll make sure to try one. This is more of a quick-service hybrid-style cafe, but the employees were friendly and helpful. Seating is limited but we managed to find a nice table outside in the shade. Overall, I think this place could be cheaper and more expansive, but I'll certainly be back if we're looking for a more chill vibe than most of Mosaic has to offer. 3.5/5 but rounding up for the great staff and because I think other food options might be more flavorful.

Yelp
Ever since Colada Shop opened over the summer, it has been my go-to spot to catch up with friends over some cafe con leche and empanadas! Their outdoor seating situation with QR service makes it super easy to order without even setting foot inside their front door (which you should because it's so delightfully colorful and vibrant inside!). We've tried every single empanada on the menu (the breakfast one is a favorite!), some menu items (hit or miss but you can't go wrong with anything ham or bread related), and coffee selection (find me with a cortadito or a cafe con leche). This area needs more coffee shops (or I'm just severely addicted to coffee) so I am so happy to welcome Colada Shop to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Love this place and needed the midday caffeine boost. When you walk in, there is a very tropical vibe. We choose items off of the Winter Specials; Churro Cafe Con Leche (comes with a churro) and the Marshmallow Chocolate De Abuela. The drinks were made quickly and were delicious. We also choose the guava and cheese party, it was so good we ended up buying another. Great Cuban based coffee shop and definitely will come back.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Coincidentally craving Cuban food after coming back from FL. Stumbled upon this cute cafe while walking around Mosaic. I was not that hungry, so I order the breakfast sandwich (egg tortilla & swiss cheese served on Cuban bread choose your flavor: mojo pork, spinach & egg white, ham) along with CafÉ Con Leche. COFFEE IS BOMB. Like, I can't decide which one is best: Viet coffee or Cuban coffee? Sandwich is real good too so I can't imagine how the Cuban sandwich taste like! Deff coming back here again! I highly recommend this spot. The manager is really nice and friendly in the location!
