We were visiting Charleston from Ontario and HAD to try this shop. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. 10/10 will be going back next time we are around.

Every time I walk in here it smells amazing. Craig is a one man show and he’s always friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches are delicious and I’ve never been disappointed. Within walking distance from my house, this is a great spot. Looking forward to trying the hot dogs soon! Some days he sells out within an hour of opening. Don’t be mad, be early!

Google
The sandwiches are top-notch. Best sandwich in the lowcountry, hands down! Craig is great! Always friendly and inviting. Very informative on the selection of sandwiches. 10/10 would, and do recommend.

Google
this is my favorite spot in charleston. go and youre going to have maybe the best sandwich youve ever had. with an ever-rotating menu alongside some permanent fixtures, theres always something that will catch your eye. i try to bring everyone i can who hasnt tried this place to it and they are always blown away when it lives up to and exceeds the expectations i set for it. lots of truffle-infused deliciousness, excellent cold cuts, great greens. all ingredients here come from well-sourced spots. craig is prolly the kindest human who has existed on this planet--thats not an exaggeration. you can tell the heart he puts into the business and he genuinely cares about both his customers and community. if this was just an amazing sandwich joint it would be one thing. but folks like this are the ones who deserve our support and money. small business deli-style and not a place youre going to have a sit-down at (though there are standing tables outside). go there before 11 if you want guaranteed food. it sells out quick. go before 10 if you want a full-go at anything on the menu.

Today I had the distinct pleasure of sampling the wonderful Cold Shoulder Gourmet! This exciting eatery produces the finest subs in the area all made with fresh, local ingredients that leave you feeling satisfied with every bite. The bread is baked fresh at Saffron Bakery! I love being a Yelp Elite member because it opens doors and opportunities to meet amazing individuals like the owner Craig Edmonds. He’s such an amazing and kind man from Nairobi, Kenya. His food speaks to his passion for great cuisine and his customer service is world class. He’s been living in Charleston for 10 years, but you would feel like he’s a lifetime resident with his charm. He’s the genius behind the design of the entire shop and his touch is felt through every aspect of this place. Please come pay a visit because the Cold Shoulder will give you a warm welcome!

Google
Delicious and creative sandwiches. The only improvement would be if the spicy sauce was better spread on the smoked turkey as it was really only on one half. Check Instagram for hours as they'll be closed for a break.

Google
Had the pleasure of meeting Craig on our way into Charleston from Georgia a few weeks ago and the food was absolutely delicious. I don’t think we have ever tasted a sandwich with so many flavors! Wish I didn’t live so far away because he was a very pleasant guy to talk to. Gave us a wonderful dinner recommendation and started off our trip with the perfect post-travel meal and a friendly smile. I would go here (at least) weekly if I was local!

Yelp
It sells out, so you'll need to get there early. In fact, checking Cold Shoulder Instagram story account will let you know if they're s/o (sold out). Hidden and Hard to find the small storefront next to Locals, but well worth the hunt as this place has the best sandwiches. Craig balances fresh ingredients, meats, delicious sauces, the best focaccia style bread! Super friendly guy! It's gourmet but worth the treat!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for lunch and had 2 delicious sandwiches. One turkey and one brisket. The owner was one of the friendliest people we have ever met, so pleasant to chat with. The sandwiches were unique and complex in flavors. Looking forward to stopping in again soon!

Yelp
Believe the hype people!!! Craig is serving up top notch quality gourmet sandwiches. I wasn't able to RSVP for the Yelp event but after seeing so much great feedback I had to make the drive to WA Saturday morning to get us some sandwiches. I saw on Instagram that wagyu bologna was going to be the special and my friend Brian LOVES bologna so I knew this would be a special treat for him. I also picked up the vegetarian for Diane and the Classic for myself. I saw a pic where someone had added a side of the truffle cream with the classic so I did the same. And Diane and I were both happy with that decision because it was delicious. I know next time to add it!!! Craig and I got to chat it up while he made our sandwiches. He's as nice as can be and I wish him all the success. If you find yourself craving a sandwich, head to West Ashley and treat yourself to Cold Shoulder Gourmet.

Yelp
Everything was perfect but the prices are high!! My family and I still go a couple of times a month, regardless of the prices. We just love the food!!

Allison V.

Yelp
Overall: You simply must go. When I walked in, I was greeted by Craig. It is such a cute shop! Craig was an absolute pleasure to talk to. He spelled out all of the different options for what he could make. I feel like the word sandwich does not do what he created for me justice. It was one of the best lunches I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and go!

Yelp
There's nothing to not love about this small spot. It may be small in size, but it's big and bold in flavor! Only recommendation is to get there EARLY as they will sell out any time between 11-1 (at the latest) on the day(s) they are open. Chat with the owner - service and conversation was excellent! Cool spot, good vibes, leaves you wanting more after every visit!

Yelp
The early bird gets the worm at Cold Shoulder Gourmet. When I heard about Cold Shoulder Gourmet, there were two themes that stuck with me: first, that these are the best sandwiches in Charleston, and second, that I need to get there before they sell out for the day (they're open from 8 am to 4 pm or until they sell out of sandwiches... and they always sell out of sandwiches). A little skeptical, I woke up early one Saturday to hunt down this hole-in-the-wall in West Ashley. The search was worth it, because the quality of food and service is unparalleled. The owner Craig immediately greeted me as I walked in. He recognized that it was my first time (that's how well he remembers his clientele), and was happy to walk me through the selection of sandwiches he had on display. I ended up going with the Gourmet and the Spicy 2.0. Both packed a punch with every bite, activating every taste bud and making me crave more. Your palate can immediately tell that Craig cares about quality, because the selection of meats, cheeses, and sauces is the finest. The focaccia bread might be the best I have ever had. Wake up early and make the drive. You won't regret buying one of these delectable sandwiches.

Alivia S.

Yelp
UNREAL. With the nicest owner! Sandwich is unlike any other! A must stop and worth a drive.

Yelp
Just more details in case they're helpful! We love this spot for a quick grab and go meal before a day outside (or a pick me up on a dreary day). Be sure to pay attention to Craig's posts about when the sandwiches run out - don't be mad, be early as he says! Sometimes there's a line but it moves very quickly. You can also grab drinks and snacks while you wait - lots of differently options than just coke and lays. Parking is always easy but it is near the Y interestion in West Ashley so that's sort of a pain driving wise.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. The owner is so nice and we just love hanging and talking to him for a few while we are grabbing sandwiches. The sandwiches are DELICIOUS!!! Best sandwich in Charleston. This is a spot we hit every Sunday, and I might have to start hitting it more often. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PLACE! Go check him out!
google avatar

Grace P.

Yelp
Cold Shoulder Gourmet's sandwiches are the best in Charleston, by far! So many incredible flavor combinations, and the ingredients are all top notch. I recommend the classic sandwich with prosciutto, parmesan, truffle honey, truffle butter, and greens. We also can never leave without the $5 dessert sandwich which is essentially Nutella on focaccia bread. The owner is really kind and wonderful to talk to as well.
google avatar

Yelp
As an avid foodie and someone who enjoys trying new restaurants I was very excited to try Cold Shoulder Gourmet. The owner greeted me upon arrival with a warm smile. I took a brief look at the menu and decided to order the Classic. I loved that the sandwich was wrapped at more of an Italian style so that it was easy to eat. The sun-dried tomatoes and balsamic pairs perfectly with the fresh mozzarella that they make. There's a hint of I believe is basil that's grown locally which will always a plus. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. I didn't snap pictures of the food today but I will the next time I come.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
The moment I walked in the owner greeted me and is very friendly and courteous. I chose the classic and he made a fresh one right there in about four minutes. But before he made the sandwich he offered me a drink and I chose the espresso. The espresso beats out Starbucks by far. All the ingredients that he chooses to make his sandwiches with our ground locally as well as the meat. I took one bite of the sandwich and just kept wanting more and more. The bread is super soft and made locally and probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever have had in a long time. The sandwich that I chose, the classic was superbly delicious and I will be coming back.

Sherri J.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Craig is so personable and told us all about where he gets the meats, truffle and bread (delivered twice a day). I had the Spicy which was absolutely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! The flavors were incredible! I will be back very soon... and I will be a regular!
google avatar

Opal D.

Yelp
I can't recall a tastier sandwich in my entire life. Loaded with flavor and perfect stuff-to-bread ratio. I was initially surprised at the small size of the sandwich given the price, but the sandwich was made with high-quality ingredients. Looking forward to returning and trying the other sandwiches.
google avatar

Yelp
Everyone must go to cold shoulder gourmet! It's not only delicious, but it's a self-owned small business. We talked with the owner when we went, and he graciously told us about all the sandwiches available and he was making them fresh when we got there. The sandwiches are made from focaccia, which is an soft Italian bread, similar to pizza dough. It was some of the best focaccia I've tasted. All the ingredients had deep flavor and tasted authentic. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
This place makes me want to crave for a sandwich!! Craig immediately greeted us once we came in and introduced all the sandwiches that was left to offer. All of the ingredients he used is of high quality and they do not lack in any quantity or flavor! This is probably the fluffiest focaccia bread I've ever eaten. When my friend and I brought it to our car, the smell of truffle made us exponentially hungry. I got a sandwich that was spicy, which I usually err on the side of not getting it... but I'm so happy that I chose it because it was delicious (and the spice gave the sandwich that small kick)!! Maybe having a chalkboard listing what each sandwiches have and crossing them off as it is sold out would be helpful to the customers. I didn't see a menu when I walked in, so Craig listed off all of the sandwiches... I mean all of them sounded delicious but I forgot which one was which. Not a single sandwich will disappoint you!

Yelp
Only Craig Edmunds could make me drive 30 minutes for a sandwich. These sandwiches are the absolute BOMB and I love his ingredients. The bread alone I could eat for hours and I'm not even a bread girl. That truffle cream is so tasty and I love the sandos with Parmesan. So much love and care goes into each sandwich and each interaction with his customers. He is such a caring man, chef, and restaurant owner. I highly recommend stopping in here for a sando and friendly chat! I guarantee you will not be sorry you met Craig or tried his delicious sandwiches.
google avatar

Jess W.

Yelp
While I have yet to visit the physical location, I tried these sandwiches at a pop-up and holy deliciousness! Everything from the bread used to the flavor combos to the presentation of the sandwich is amazing. I can see why they sell out early & quickly. Highly recommend the Spicy 2.0!
google avatar

Gabriela D.

Yelp
Owner is such a great guy who is always happy to serve you. Sandwich offerings are some of the most delicious and unique offerings I've had! A must try! Get there early before he sells out for the day!
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
Absolutely the best sandwich I've ever had. Craig, the owner, serves as a one man show. Stay and chat with him to learn his motivation behind opening this shop, where he locally sourced (all!) of his ingredients, and if you're lucky, get to sample some of his new ideas or not-yet-on-the-menu treats! The quality of these ingredients and thought he puts into each sandwich is obvious - it's no wonder he is blowing up on social media!
google avatar

Nate S.

Yelp
If you haven't tried this place your an absolute joker... not only are the sandwiches are out of this world, but the owner is hands down the most passionate caring person I've met in F&B. Dude will literally give you the sand which he was taking for himself so you can try it. If I could give more stars I would. 25 out of 10
google avatar

Sherry K.

Yelp
If your looking for something tasty, delicious and special look no further! I had been wanting to get here for over a year. The owner is a bright light and offers an amazing product!
google avatar

Carolyn M. C.

Yelp
Craig makes the most delicious handmade sandos that are to die for! Don't be late...he sells out! A MUST try in my opinion.
google avatar

Joseph J.

Yelp
Solid sandwiches from a solid dude! Get some! You won't regret it! It was my first time in and I was lucky enough to beat the rush. Craig took the time to tell me where all the ingredients that go into his sandwiches come from. He even gave me a free espresso, what a guy! This place is crushing it!
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
Outstanding taste and quality. We had the ham jam and the mortadella sandwiches and were so delighted. The attention to quality is exquisite as was every bite of my masterfully crafted sandwich. And the jam with that ham has me seeing stars, I am so knocked out. Please do yourself a favor and get there, and get there early.

Yelp
Had a spicy boi early today, absolutely incredible, every ingredient was top shelf and the vibe is great. A+

Yelp
I finally was able to go before they sold out and it was totally worth the wait. Amazing service, delicious sandwiches, can't wait to go back! If you like quality this is your place!

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Might be the best sandwich i ever had the gourmet is phenomenal. The owner Craig is the coolest we got to chat for a bit and he is so down to earth! Definitely going back for these amazing flavors! Holy shit.

Yelp
I mean, what can I say that hasn't already been said. Craig is a sandwich genius. We're talking Einstein, Tesla, and Sheldon Cooper level genius. He takes locally sourced ingredients, made or sliced fresh daily, puts them together with his magical wizardry, and bam, brilliant! He sells out daily, but he warns everyone that it's going to happen, and when it does, he closes down for the day. He opens at 8am typically, closed normally on Tuesday and Wednesday, but when he's open, he's like the Pied Piper of West Ashley and beyond, drawing people in for his regular contraptions or whatever his daily special may be. On top of that, he's the most friendly and sociable guy you'll ever meat (pun intended). He loves his craft and his customers, and it shows. You're not just a number when you walk in. You're a mouth to feed at his table (they don't have tables so don't get cozy) and he'll leave you walking out like you just went to grandmas for some wholesome food and lovin'. Stop in to his shop, just left of Locals, and be ready to enjoy an unforgettable sandwich experience. I had my first one over a week ago and I'm still thinking about it.

Yelp
A great sandwich unlike anything else around. The owner was super friendly letting us taste the hot sauce and meat. Right next to Locals, his signage hasn't yet arrived. No seating so plan to take out

Keith W.

Yelp
The Sandwiches are amazing. Super tasty, some of the best I've had in a while. Overall Quality product. I could name a dozen sandwich shops in Charleston area, and none have the flavor these sandwiches did. So my wife sent me up there, I had no idea what the place was other than a sandwich shop. I was expecting another Sub shop knockoff. Boy was I wrong. So I'll be honest and say after seeing the size of the sandwiches, I had a little sticker shock on the prices after I ordered. 4 sandwiches came to about $50 (~12.50 * 4). But after unwrapping them and seeing a nice stacked meat from edge to edge (see some of the other reviews with photos, you'll see what I mean), then tasting them, WOW, I will be back for more. My wife and to squish the sandwich down some to take a bite. They may not have looked big, but the meat is nicely stacked and the bread thick and moist, super tasty. No wasted bread on these sandwiches. The overall quality of the product is top notch. Finally getting the quality you are paying for in a Charleston. Each bite is flavor filled start to finish. This is NOT giant slices of bread or a sub roll with wasted bread, and just a couple slices of meat in the center of the bread where it takes a couple bites to even get to the meat. To top it off, Craig seems like a great guy. I stopped in that first time to give them a try, and we ended up talking for at least 15 mins about food. So happy Craig opened in West Ashley!!!

Randy A.

Yelp
Cold Shoulder Gourmet review. I made a stop on the way out of town a few days ago. The guy that runs the place is potentially one of the nicest people I have ever met. He knows cured meat and focaccia like they are family members. That said, his breadth is just that...exquisite meats and bread. At the question of additions it was clear the door was shut on the concept. Roasted red pepper? Onions? Sliced cheeses? Largely you're left with a meat on bread sandwich that manages the singular complexity of that concept with exemplary flavor. As this concept evolves I'll look for more. This restaurant can get there.

Silver A.

Yelp
Best Focaccia sandwich Ever! Craig Please hire some hands so you can make more of these perfect sandwitches man!

T K.

Yelp
This little hidden gem is AMAZING. I'm not one to give reviews but this sandwich deserves one. The owner Craig was super cool to talk to and he uses fresh ingredients. I got there a little late today so he was running low on what he had left for the day. He made me the gourmet and it's so good I downloaded yelp just to give it 5 stars. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Ellen I.

Yelp
Go early before he sells out! Our sandwiches stayed fresh in the fridge for 2 hours. So yummy
google avatar

Tyler F.

Yelp
I had the Spicy and it was divine. You can tell when people care about what they create and the owner, Craig, clearly cares. Top notch ingredients coming together to make a top notch product. A welcome addition to West Ashley and Charleston as a whole. I wish I had pictures, but the sandwich didn't last long.
google avatar

Michele C.

Yelp
Best sandwiches out there!!! And the owner is so friendly! My favorite was the Something Sweet!! It's the perfect combination of goodness!

Keagan M.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! The owner Craig is awesome and you can tell he is super passionate about what he does. Super friendly and love getting to support a local shop. Get there early, he's been selling out everyday because of how BOMB the sandwiches are!

Megan L.

Yelp
THE.BEST.SANDOS!! He walks you through all the ingredients on the sandwiches which is great because my bf has a mustard allergy. Ive been multiple times and have never been disappointed. The spicy sando, wagyu, salami and the truffle Mayo/ oils he puts on them....perfection

Karen L.

Yelp
I overheard Craig mention to another patron that he also offers charcuterie boards. I ordered one and it is fantastic! You need to give him 24 hour notice and it is definitely worth the wait. Our board was filled with six different meats, several cheeses, olives, beans, artichokes, nuts, mustard, and honey along with his delicious focaccia bread. Wonderful! You can see a picture of his board on his instagram site.

David W.

Yelp
Extremely delicious sandwiches! The menu is fairly small but that means what they make is very good. Limited daily supply so get there early!

Jim R.

Yelp
Not much of a yelper, but cold shoulder has it going on, very streamlined one man operation that hits the spot. Fresh locally sourced ingredients and the owner always has a great attitude. Be sure to ask about his hand cranked slicer it's a beautiful work of artist that seems to fit perfectly with his delicious sandwich's
