"Evanston's Colectivo Coffee will open in a week — on Friday, October 16 — reps say. It's a 2,600-square-foot space at 716 Church Street that was originally a soda fountain in the '60s and most-recently a Radio Shack." - Daniel Gerzina

I stopped in Saturday afternoon and tried the Salted Carmel Latter Hot with Oatmilk. Which was 11/10. The coffee was so good. I also tried the Coffee Shake, which literally tasted like a frosty! One of the best drinks I have ever had. The coffee shop was packed! But the service was fast and done with a smile. I will definitely come back and try the food and get some more coffee. The restaurant was clean and the service overall was nice!

Google
Fantastic spot for coffee, tea, and pastries, but always very crowded with university students. Outdoor seating is available when the weather is good.

Google
Tasty coffee. They even have a cute fall menu. Great coffee shop to study in. They take your order fast. Wait time to get your drink is a little on the long side since they have a lot of orders. If you're wanting a fast togo coffee option perhaps try another place, but if you have some time or are planning on studying a while this is a great spot. Would recommend!

I’ve been coming to Colectivo Evanston every year during my visits for recruiting events, ever since my days at NU. This coffee shop is a must-stop for me whenever I'm back in town. Since it’s usually fall when I visit, I always treat myself to their seasonal pumpkin spice latte, which never disappoints. Their croissants are also incredible—both the chocolate and almond ones are my favorites. The cozy atmosphere and delicious offerings make it a special place that I look forward to visiting year after year.

Google
A classic spot in the heart of Evanston! Instant 5 stars for not charging tax. Carbonated water is refreshing. features a great hip crowd and plenty of variety with the seating. lots of dessert options as well. wifi is pretty slow.

Google
10/30 - Had another wonderful experience at this terrific location. Associates Francis, Amanda, and Silas were wonderful. Very friendly and most helpful with my orders. Great atmosphere!

Google
I love the feel of this coffee shop, it has a lot of seating both indoors and out and when the weather is nice enough they open the windows! I purchased a cold brew coffee for $4.02 which I think is a little steep and they also don't do free refills on drip coffee which is unfortunate but understandable for how busy they are. I appreciate the friendly attitudes from the staff and I will be seeing you all soon.

Google
Pretty good coffee, extremely expensive & crowded on a Sunday around 2 pm. They’re super serious about their yellow and black tape. It’s to keep room for grabbing your coffee and to not go behind their coffee bar, but it was so crowded there really was no where to stand. My husband had the Session cold brew which he liked. I had the Salted Caramel Latte. It was strong, but didn’t taste strong. I was up pretty late that evening. Our total $12 with only two drinks. Fine for what we needed before heading back on the train, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

Yelp
Nice coffee house vibe! Ordering with person helpful and easy. Had:Matcha latte, pistachio matcha latte, bacon, egg, cheese croissant Croissant was very nice! Super flaky! Thick bacon, medium cooked, not crunchy, decent amount of egg. Enough cheese but not over powering or too much. Give it 5/5 The wait for drinks though.... 1 barista and this place was packed already. After a group of 10 behind me already got their drinks I asked about mine. Then seems they didn't ring it up? Hmm. Drink quality was very good though. Liked the pistachio the best. Nice crisp flavor, little sweet and could still taste the matcha just fine. Would have given 5/5 if didn't miss my 1 drink.

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop! There Are a lot of coffee shops in the area that I wanted to try but Colectivo was so good I didn't try the others. Friendly staff and delicious coffee and food. Cool coffee shop vibes, it's big and windows everywhere to watch people.

Mikaella M.

Yelp
Really cool cafe and it's teeming full of students, coffee connoisseurs and ppl hanging out so the traffic was busy inside for an early afternoon. They had a patio outside that other customers took advantage of as the weather was quite nice. I've been in a cold brew spree lately so I always liked to try it whenever I went to a new cafe. I decided on the salted caramel cream cold brew and unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. It tasted watered down and I couldn't get a sense of that salted caramel flavor. It's quite a shame but I'll give this place a go again next time and try their other coffee selections.

Dorothy Z.

Yelp
coffee shop vibes hit hard especially with their massive open window. their drinks are quite pricey but an overall great spot

Neal B.

Yelp
This is hard to say cause I don't give 5/5 for coffee shops without a pour over. So getting a 5/5 is a real good rating for me since they don't have a pour over but they made up for it in other ways. They have normal Lattes and such but we got some specialty drinks and they were awesome. Both the Matcha and the coffee itself were great. They looked like they had awesome food. A nice smoothie as well. It looked like they had great food. Selling beans is a plus for someone like me. They also had a nice ambiance and a lot of seating (though it was packed). Definitely recommend!

Chan Y.

Yelp
A charming and cozy feeling cafe just across the street from our hotel. The rainy morning actually added to the magic and welcoming feeling of the coffee shop when walking in. We had two beautifully made Lattes along with an Almond Croissant and Pumpkin Cranberry Muffin. Those treats were enjoyed at a window side table, watching the rains fall on some tables and a lone bicycle outside. A real LoFi Chill music moment.

Nazia C.

Yelp
The cashier who took our order was very nice and gave recommendations. I typically enjoy matcha drinks, and I love pistachio, so I tried to pistachio matcha latte. It came out pretty quickly even though they were kinda busy, so I'm curious about how it's made. The drink is good at first and has a very strong pistachio flavor, but after a few sips, it starts to feel way too sweet. I ordered the smallest size and ended up only drinking half because it was so sweet.

Rafael S.

Yelp
Coffee is slow and outside tables are not dried well after the rain. You cannot substitute friendliness for lack of prompt service. Where is Management??

George B.

Yelp

Yelp
Great coffee, pastries and vibe! Cozy with outdoor seating in nice weather. In the heart of downtown Evanston.

Ruby P.

Yelp
I like this elegant coffee shop! I got a large iced pistachio matcha latte (special) with 1 shot of espresso and I liked its good flavor. Delicious. There was plenty of seating but they can all be occupied on busy weekends. I managed to get a seat and I liked how there's an outlet to charge my electronics.

Heather B.

Yelp
The ambiance is 5 stars. The oat milk cold coffee drink was 4 stars. The oatmeal with blueberry and peach? 2 stars. I wanted to love it more because it sounded so good, but it was dry and I saw one blueberry, I didn't taste or see a peach. I won't order this again. I'll have to come again and try a sandwich.

Mike E.

Yelp
Food and coffee is great. However, I am increasingly angry at the problem with students taking up all the sitting space. The management is at fault by NOT enforcing or even introducing a policy to limit the loitering time of students. Many times my wife and Iwalked in a d could not find a seat due to kids taking up space with one cup and sitting there for hours. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angie W.

Yelp
Cheery decor, nice choice of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating seemed a little tight, but not uncomfortably so. Service was great--friendly and quick, and the cashier was happy to answer my questions about the menu. The chocolate croissant had a good amount of chocolate in it, good solid chunks all the way though. I ordered a "smoked salt vanilla mocha" from the specials menu. I couldn't really taste any smoke or salt, possibly because I ordered it iced rather than hot. But it did taste like a good vanilla mocha so I was happy with that. I get the impression that their specials menu changes a lot, though, so I look forward to trying something new next time.

Selena d.

Yelp
i love this place. great drinks, even better food. amazing place to be to hang out or to study for a few hours. super cutie on the inside.

Olivia A.

Yelp
I love colectivo especially their fall menu. I always get the pumpkin fluff latte which is very unique and flavorful. They can be stingy on the ice which is unfortunate because it makes the small amount of ice in my drink melt really fast. I haven't tried the food yet but definitely want to next visit.

Jordan C.

Yelp
I ordered the salted caramel cold brew and it was fantastic. The location is very walkable and with its proximity to Northwestern, there were tons of college students and few open seats.

dean p.

Yelp
Great service at the counter, nice outdoor area for eating with a dog, nice coffee bean options. Food good too.

Jon D.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town, stumbled across Colectivo. Walking in the door, I loved the college coffee house vibe. Very busy right after lunch on a Friday afternoon. Service was fast given the crowd. My usual wet cappuccino was good but not great. My wife ordered a drip coffee, which is always a good way to judge a coffee joint. Again, good but not great. Overall, an enjoyable stop on our outing but will continue to look for a perfect cup of coffee in Evanston.

Joe S.

Yelp
Fresh coffee, tasty treats, and fantastic customer service. I forgot to get a receipt when I visited and needed it because it was a work expense. They were able to find my purchase from 3 weeks ago and emailed it to me promptly. Will be visiting again soon!

Ruby G.

Yelp
Love this place! Large selection of smoothies and coffees. High quality breakfast and lunch options. Indoor and outdoor seating with a comfortable, urban vibe and welcoming staff.

Boyle W.

Yelp
It's a fine coffee shop. A little boisterous, but it was a Saturday afternoon. A lot of their drink menu led with non-dairy options so that nice to see!

Maggie Z.

Yelp
It's really cute inside, has warm lighting, the service is fast enough, even when there's a rush. Their coffee is yum! Slightly inconsistent in their roasts but it does the job. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious! Not a local business, but certainly a nice place to study and sip

Bob P.

Yelp
Great coffee place in Evanston. Super unique baked goods and sandwiches, and of course coffee and tea.

Patrick J.

Yelp
Back visiting my Alma mater and was seeking my morning coffee. The place is very nice inside. Coffee was good. But, I just can't give 5 stars when a coffee shop doesn't have heavy cream. It's not that hard. In fact, the guy behind the bar admitted they have it, but "not for splashes". I wasn't in the mood to explore what conditions or orders would release the heavy cream to a paying customer. So, I just decided to allow myself to feel like a second-class citizen and suffered with the stupid half-and-half.

C Z.

Yelp
Great customer service and appreciate that they have a variety of breakfast foods (great for meeting with folks with different dietary restrictions).

Timothy H.

Yelp
I have to concur with the attitude of the staff. I was there recently and placed my order with the cashier at the front of the line. She was the nicest of the 3 staff members I encountered. The barista was so busy forcing people to wait behind this obviously hastily erected line on the floor, that drink orders were backing up and another barista had to help her. By the way, pushing everyone behind a line on the floor into a tiny space which happens to block the table where the sugar, napkins, etc is located... probably not a good idea? And raising your voice to tell people to move - yeah no Bueno. And of course they got my drink order wrong, but the other barista was cool and slightly apologetic about it. He remade it quickly. Think I'll pass. There are plenty of other coffee shops around, ranging from the mom-and-pop shops to a Starbucks that won't force you into a tiny space behind a striped line, or raise their voice and be rude.

Jill H.

Yelp
Lunch review. Need a quick bite? Colectivo will provide some decent options. In comparison to similar coffee shops that serve food, however, I found them average+. It was fairly busy inside. I had to wipe a table down and brush the crumbs away myself cuz no one seemed to be taking care of that. Once that was taken care of, we had a nice spot by the long window. As for the food - we arrived straight from a flight and very hungry having not eaten all day. My husband got a Turkey Club, which was serviceable, but not exciting. You know how packaged lunch meat at the grocery store often comes in little precut circles? That's seemingly what was on his sandwich. For $8 I feel they could do better. My sweet potato bowl was good on flavor, a bit skimpy on size and light on quinoa. Not a bad veggie bowl, but others do it much better. The interior atmosphere was nice, already decked out for the holidays. Maybe my impression would be better if we'd come for coffee and a breakfast item.

Jamie S.

Yelp
Not great. 2 stars because the patio is nice on a sunny day. The service was not great, took my order, my money. It was up to me to figure everything else out.

Saphace A.

Yelp
We came because Le Peep had a power outage. Sadness! They've got indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter then they'll place your order in a brown bag on a rack. No contact customer service kinda thang these days. We ordered breakfast wraps, I got an avocado toast, while my sister got the impossible English muffin sandwich with egg and cheese. The breakfast wraps: eggs, veggie sausage, tortilla strips, peppers. The avocado toast was filling! It had a sliced boiled egg and pickled onion. Pretty delicious! I don't typically order avocado toast. The food was kinda light. Small portions that don't seem super filling. I had eaten earlier so I didn't Mind it but word to the wise... I got a regular cortado, my team got a flat white, cappuccino, and jasmine green tea iced. The coffee was meh..kinda disappointing. The space was cool! It's got tons of windows and plants all over. It's a wooden aesthetic. Some students seem to hang around here to study. They have plugs but I'm not sure if there's that many.

Mary B.

Yelp
But I love Colectivo Coffee! Why would I only give it 3 stars? Because there is not one table space at 1:15 to sit and eat the delicious sandwich I just bought for lunch. I paid to park out front and I'm getting to enjoy my lunch in my car because every single table space in the place is taken by someone with a laptop. There are zero open seats. Many of these people do not appear to even have anything to drink or eat. I need to remember to not bother with this place any more.

Nathan B.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop in Evanston. I showed up right at opening and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Excellent variety in coffee and food options. I had a breakfast sandwich and it is definitely a step up from more popular chain coffee shop food. Definitely stay for a while to get some work done or socialize, there's a variety of seating and the windows can open when it's a nice day.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
The ambiance in the store is very nice! A lot of students studying and the lighting with the plant decorations is very relaxing. The staff were also very nice!

C J.

Yelp
I've been going to the Evanston location for about 4-5 years now. For the most part, I've always enjoyed coming out to Evanston for coffee - and! More often then not, I would have always given them at least 4 stars. However I don't know whats been going on for the past year. I've never received a bad attitude from their employees. But consistency has really gone down hill lately. Regarding the coffee, it's either too strong or too weak. I've had light roasts that were brewed and came out like a dark roast, and dark roasts that were so weak, they tasted like a light roast. Lately, I don't even finish a cup of coffee. I end up dumping it out, and heading over to Starbucks instead. I haven't completely given up on the Evanston location yet, but I'm losing hope after a year. I'd say during the last 10 visits, there have been multiple issues with the orders regarding the food. Sometimes you wait forever, and the food was never warmed up or made. Sometimes you get 1 or 2 items right away, and wait another 20 min for them to complete the order. In the mean time, the other items have gotten cold waiting, so what's the point of ordering them heated up in the first place? I've waited almost 30 min a few times when the place wasn't even busy and the order was as basic as coffee and warming up bakery items. I'm not trying to dump on anybody, but it's happening too often now. Another thing that bothers me, is that the prices have gone up, and sometimes the muffins taste like they are old and dried out. For those prices, I don't want to pay for what taste like yesterdays bakery items.

Kyle H.

Yelp
Love the Colectivo Milwaukee-Chicago coffee chain, and this one in Evanston is A-Okay. There are plenty of places for working remotely, or doing your school work, and they also have an outdoor patio area, which we enjoyed on one of the only warm days of Spring 2022 #neverforget. Colectivo has a good breakfast and all day breakfast menu, don't sleep on their bowls, either! I prefer their lighter blend coffees over their dark roasts, and enjoy grabbing a bag of beans for my home brewing. A-Ok in Evanston-ay!

Emerald W.

Yelp
I've been going to this Colectivo location for almost 2 years now and generally have had an okay experience. The staff are nice, the coffee is good, the food is acceptable. Today, however, I had a horrible experience which I feel compelled to share. I ordered a bagel, took a bite, and it was so hard, it chipped my tooth! I had chipped my tooth about a year ago, and this bagel chipped it even further! I went back in, and asked to order something else. I asked for a burrito, thinking they would expedite the order, given they were at fault for my hard as a rock bagel. Alas, they did not. I ended up waiting 15 minutes for my burrito. I'm frustrating and starving at this point. I bite into the burrito, and it's cold as ice! At this point I've had enough and I just throw the cold burrito away and go home. I had wasted enough time (and money!). I'm so disappointed. Never getting food here again. :(

Ash C.

Yelp
Colectivo coffee was within walking distance from my hotel. It became my go to cafe every morning I was in Evanston. I loved their Salted Caramel latte. They also have many good items. I tried the Canadian Bacon Croissant and the Avocado toast.

Charlie B.

Yelp
This place is beautiful and we came on a sunny day and they have the windows open letting the air in. I am boring with coffee as my wife says but I enjoyed this refreshing cold brew. They have quick service and a wonderful amazing staff.

Jessie Jia Z.

Yelp
Great seating, ambience, and great drinks, staff is always super friendly. The pastries are OK

Sabrina C.

Yelp
I got the Mint matcha latte and it was delicious! Just enough matcha and it's not too sweet. Colectivo is a good place to sit down and study but it can get kind of busy so make sure you stake out your spot!

Kathryn R.

Yelp
Went to Colectivo because it was highly recommended to me, and it did not disappoint! I was excited to go to Colectivo because I had seen pictures of it online and I thought the design was classy. It was definitely classy in-person as well. There was a fairly big crowd there and I got in line just in time before a big rush. I got my food and my drink pretty quickly considering the amount of people there, though. Servers were very friendly and definitely very efficient! I got a hot Chai latte and a sausage egg English muffin. The chai was fairly strong at least to me, but I usually prefer strong spice blends in chai anyway, so I liked it. The English muffin was the highlight for me. I didn't get a picture because I was hungry and ate it before I remembered to take a pic, but let me tell you, it was delicious! Probably the best English muffin I've ever had. The sausage was delicious and the sauce on the bread just pushed the greatness over the top. I loved every bite! If you're looking for a unique, classy spot for coffee or a small breakfast, definitely go to Colectivo!

Claire C.

Yelp
Cozy cafe that offers great coffees, breakfast, and lunch options. Tried the mocha scone and honey lavender coconut latte. The mocha scone had a delicious icing and chocolate chips throughout. It was dense, so the size was perfect for a morning breakfast. Coffee came out hot and fast, and was definitely on the sweeter side. I would go back to try other coffee options, specifically the cold brew. Great place to go with fair prices, but be sure to go there early enough to grab a

Nadine S.

Yelp
Went for a a coffee meet up. It was a bit of a challenge finding a seat. Quite atmosphere. Ordered a London Fog and it was delicious, got a lemon poppy seed muffin and I wasn't a fan. It had a Chalky stale texture. They have sandwiches and coffee in addition to tea. I'm not opposed to trying it again, but would try something else instead of the muffin.

Sandie B.

Yelp
What a great surprise! One of the best lattes I've had on the North Shore. The espresso is rich and smooth, and it comes in a 16oz size.

Paul U.

Yelp
Half a cup of soup for $5? WTF - What a total rip off. I was told they only serve one ladle.

Dani G.

Yelp
I absolutely love it there! A lot of different coffee varieties and choices. The food is reasonably priced. I had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich and it was excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and casual.

Orest S.

Yelp
Evanston is a student's town. So this place is full of students who prepare for their long learning week offer the weekend. It is crowded, but very cozy. Good coffee and tea if different options. I'd like to be a student again!

Gerry G.

Yelp
Nice patio but they were 6 of the 10 sandwiches offered were unavailable. Perhaps some better inventory management is in order. Food was pretty good, if highly processed and pre-prepared.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Honey Cardamom latte is the best coffee ever. The people in the front are friendly and gave me the best recommendation of the south western burrito. Place is also super cute!
