I'm glad that "Colectivo Coffee" has made their way from Wisconsin to Chicago! They recently just had their 25-year anniversary. Wow, for a regional business like this, that's incredible!
This particular location is off the CTA California Blue Line station, so hubby and I often utilize this place as our after-work meeting spot on Thursdays or Fridays. They have a minimalist, yet beautiful patio open during warmer seasons. Nevertheless, they have enough indoor seating for all. Those who want to work solo can sit against the windows, while the tables can reserve for guests in party of 2 or more.
Coffee there is already solid and fairly-priced for the city of Chicago standard. They also offer some creative beverages, such as sparking fruit espresso (stir it before consuming...taste a bit similar to caffe Medici if you ever had one before) and horchata latte. Breakfast items and sandwiches are served all day and that's a plus if you would like some light meals to go with the coffee.
For non-coffee drinkers, they have fruit smoothies, tea, and even keg beer brewed locally. In other words, this coffee shop is truly family-friendly because there's something for everybody.
Workers there are chill and nice. I haven't had any any negative experience and I'm there almost every week, if not, every other week or so. It looks like they provide limited WiFi service on the weekends (a sign indicated by the register), so put down your laptops, grab some coffee, and hang out with your family and friends at "Colectivo."
