It’s a very nice place with great food and drinks, spacious and full of atmosphere. Parking is free and ample. This was our first time trying the Tomato Napoleon, and the dish was very interesting. Perhaps the chef could make the tomatoes a little softer, but it was still delicious with a unique flavor. Highly recommended!

Review – Coleman Public House We had a great experience at Coleman Public House. The food, drinks, and service were all very good. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was creamy and flavorful. For our mains, the cheeseburger and the caramelized onion & Swiss burger were both delicious—juicy, well-prepared, and satisfying. The drinks were a highlight as well; the Espresso Martini was smooth with just the right kick, and the Watermelon Margarita was refreshing and well-balanced. Overall, a solid spot for good food, tasty cocktails, and friendly service. Give them a try you decide 🤔

Google
Quiet late night dinner. Stopped in because I wanted a burger and grabbed the pasta, too! Burger and fries were fantastic. I got the California burger. The seafood pasta was good, too, but the bacon was over powering for the dish. The seafood was fresh! I'll be back to try more of the burgers for sure! Kid friendly, bar, booth, and outdoor seating is available. Plenty of parking and great location. Thanks!!

Google
Great bar and food place Very welcoming staff Great choice of drinks Daily specials are a great price My wife and I had a good evening in here Highly recommend cheers guys 🍻

Google
I stopped by Coleman Public House for lunch. I had the California Burger that was outstanding; a delicious burger with thick sliced bacon, avocado slices, and sprouts on top. I coupled that with the garlic fries that were the best I have ever had! The service was great! I highly recommend this place!

Google
Easy parking and good service. The food was decent too. The fish and chips were a little under seasoned but otherwise the fish was really fresh and it was fried to perfection. The Mac and Cheese is what you would expect Mac and Cheese to taste like. The burger was juicy but could use a little more seasoning as well.

Google
They are charging you an illegal fee on every transaction. It’s listed as administrative fee. The law states no fees can be added to a check. They can add a credit card fee if used . Food was good but there were more fries on the plate than meat on the cheesesteak sandwich.

Google
I ordered the Public House Burger which was a great option with a vegan burger patty. Fresh crispy fries and I had a perfect slice of carrot cake for dessert, that was extremely delicious. Great restaurant choice when you are in the area to give a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to be relax and have a quick late lunch. This is it!! It reminded me to a place where everyone knows each other. The service was great and with great customer/attention to detail. Shout out to Ashton who did a fantastic job. He helped us to navigate the menu making suggestions upon our request. We ordered the Mac N Cheese, Asian Ribs as appetizers. Honestly, I would have the ribs as main dish since it was so good and tender. In addition, we ordered Lamb Gyro and Barnyard Burger. The meal was delicious and what can I say, we ordered dessert, carrot cake, and it was delicious. We noticed a lot of the people/clients knew each other as they were calling themselves by names. We liked it and definitely will return.

Yelp
After a long day of getting the house in order for the contractors of the day, we decided to hit somewhere for a quick, come as you are bite.,Coleman Public House appeared to fit the bill. Dressed as we were, we hit the spot about 2:40 or 3:30, whichever was 30 minutes off the happy hour mark. No problem. We were welcomed warmly when we told them of our relocation and first visit. Alex was our server and she was great! We got the Southern burger and the fried shrimp platter! ( hey!! Supervision of construction or in this case wallpapering can be taxing!) Loved that you can order what temp you want your burger ! As I get older, I'm more careful with that but as a youngster in my heart, I appreciated that option. Fried green tomatoes and sauce were a perfect complement to the hefty burger! I kept taking another bite because of that sauce! Shrimp platter was fine and even the crab hush puppies had great flavor, but they had been clearly precooked earlier and as a result, they wound up being burnt. They were hot though, as were the fries. Liked the tartar sauce and I'm picky about that. Drinks were delicious. Why would I return? The food was quite good, but the staff made we feel welcome in a way that reassured me that we had made a great decision. This is so funny, but I will be a supporter for life. Amber came over and knew we were in the process of buying a new home. Haven't moved yet from Florida so we have been drinking out of bottles and red solo cups. Look what we came home with.Lol, I am home!

Yelp
Day1 I came here yesterday with my friend and ordered the short ribs app, crab fritters, Mac n cheese and shrimp linguini. 1. Short ribs 5 star AMAZING 2. Crab fritters 2 star 3. Mac n cheese not baked but great for children ( has bacon and better without) 4. Shrimp Seafood linguini was a FAIL ( was sent back NO TASTE We came in the daytime and Alex she was amazing great personality request her on daytime shifts! Day 2 Was horrific experience I never want come here again even though the love of my life are those shortribs because they were fire I mean it was wiggling off the bone This time we ordered the steak frites....TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE it tasted like the soul was sucked out of the meat no flavor at all. And very small even though that would've been OK, but I wish that the flavor made up for it and it's not even fit for my dog. And then the Server was like, "Oh well did you like try it with sauce??" And yeah sooooooooooo steak should be tasteful without sauce.... Sooooooo I tried it with the sauce and it was still tasteless. Overall, I felt kind of unwelcome. Yes, I was maybe complaining a little bit but it's like if you're paying $100 for food (which would have been my bill if I had paid for that steak) you expect it to be good and it wasn't and I'm sorry I wasn't going to pay for that with 3 pieces of ASSparagus. The host Anna and there's very beautiful blonde host (so sorry forgot your name homegirl! ) I'm going to say employees of year keep smiling. And our server I would have given her a way better tip, but I wasn't feeling the love and I hope that y'all are able to smile more. I've been in food and Bev for over 20 years so yes, I get it. I know you're talking crap about me and I'm sure I'm not gonna be the last customer that comes in and complain but please just smile more. And if the food doesn't taste good you get frustrated with the customer (Mic dropped )

Yelp
Clean and organized place with friendly and attentive service, which open on the later side than most restaurants in the area! The foods were prepared and seasoned well. Boy oh boy, I am glad that I ordered their shrimp Po' boy sandwich with generous amount of Parmesan and truffle oil fries! It was so good, the shrimps were crispy on the outside and juicy inside with creamy sauce on top and some fresh salads in between the sandwich! I literally cleaned up the plate, even though I was not really hungry to start with. The Southern burger comes with fried green tomatoes, which I thought was clever and also delicious! It comes with a substitute of fresh Greek salad and good salad dressing instead of regular fries for extra a few dollars and was worth it! A good spot for delicious dinner in the area

Yelp
Best staff and service of the various establishments we've visited so far on this year. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Whatever you ask for or modify is brought in a timely manner and remembered in the ordering process. This might be a "simple" fish and chips/burger joint, but they don't miss a beat. Keisha was our server, and I'd suggest asking for her if you stop by the venue. The food is fresh and there's not much more that I can say other than everyone liked their meals and there wasn't one negative comment! The homemade tartar sauce has a nice tang and the garlic on the fries was delicious!

Yelp
After pur ft Sumter tour, we came here pre-dinner drinks and intended to share a small plate for we had dinner plans a little later. But we end up ordering food. House Caesar dressing was good but wished the romaine were crisper. Glad I added fried shrimp on my salad -were fresh and tasted sweet n clean! Burger my hubby ordered was too well-done but still tasted good. Hubby had Hefeweizen he said was so good he gave me a taste, I agree! And he is not a beer drinker, err, no more, in a long while! Service was adequate and friendly, typical bar with seating, simple but could tell get busy as we saw to go orders go out like crazy, which explained why our order took longer than expected. In a strip mall and friendly vibe! Nice neighborhood grub!

Yelp
Husband got the charbroiled pimento cheeseburger and raved about how great it was! I ordered the veggie sandwich and for my side chose mac & cheese without bacon. I will have to say this is probably the best mac & cheese. I have found in the area! We will definitely be back for the mac & cheese! Appetizer was the spinach and artichoke dip with warm pitas. Very yummy! Nice atmosphere with outdoor seating & a good sized beer menu. Drink menu seems nice with lots of great choices. Service was a great!!

Yelp
We've been to CPH's brunch a few times and (this time) met a few friends for lunch. We all ordered simple stuff (burgers, salad, chicken sandwich) and were DELIGHTED by CPH's presentation, flavor, and portions. I enjoyed the Southwest salad very much and would put it up against Heavy's or any other local/dynamite/5-star salad. And yes, the chicken sandwich was everything you want....messy, crunchy, flavorful, and sweet (mayo). We loved it. And yes, all the burger guys were happy with their choice. Service was perky, warm, prompt, and without error. At this price point, CPH delivers a great dining experience, great beer selection (I was told), and a simple, cool bar setup. Patrons only need a clutter-free dining room, cold drinks, and a food-focused experience. CPH delivers all three well.

Yelp
how to balance out this review? the food is really wonderful - from the Beet salad and the lamb gyro to the french fries. The issue is that this place smells like AIR FRESHENER due to the machine in the bathroom, dispensing that awful toxic so called "air freshener" You can smell it permeating the restaurant. Who wants to be assaulted with that aroma when you enter a place to have a meal? Many of the wait staff and bar staff are incredibly friendly but one waitperson always seems rather unfriendly, we have been there many times and always it feels like she is bestowing her precious time to wait on us. She is competent but extremely aloof and I am not demanding she "smile, smile" but please ! she has been there for at least the 2 years I have been dropping by there, it is not like she is new to the waiting profession. I was a waiter many times in my life and no matter what was going on in my personal life I left it behind in the walk-in fridge and came to the floor happy to interact with my customers and colleagues. Life outside is stressful enough without having to worry that our waitperson is not thrilled to be waiting on us. Maybe someone will read this who runs the place and will give the staff a pep talk or some needed training.

Yelp
Very good Beet Salad and Sesame Ribs were delicious also. The service was also very good. Nice locals place to stop for a good bite!
google avatar

Stacey C.

Yelp
Service was relatively polite and efficient. Had a good burger and really liked the Caesar salad. Ate every bite it was so good. The croutons were especially tastey. I was traveling solo but I could tell it would be a cool place to meet some friends at the bar. The bar staff seemed nice too.

Yelp
I ordered a Cobb Salad to go. I was visiting the area and I stumbled onto this place. The salad was delicious! I went there to pick it up after I ordered it and it only took about 10-15 mins for it to be done. The atmosphere of the inside looked nice and intimate, and the hostess at the front was super nice and approachable. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
The food here is really good! There were so many different options of burgers that I wanted to try but ended up getting the barbecue burger with bacon. Very yummy! Our food server was very personable and attentive. Helped us get internet on our phones to entertain our kids while we enjoyed the meal. Very kind, I wish I got her name to give her a shout out. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere. It was relatively quiet but we visited between lunch and dinner so that's typical.

Yelp
Coleman Public House in Mount Pleasant is a spot I usually turn to for takeout rather than dining in. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, but I prefer the convenience of bringing their food home (especially after a long day running around). My absolute favorite dish is the mac and cheese. It's perfectly creamy and cheesy, with just the right texture--something I find myself craving often. The burgers are also solid, with fresh toppings and a good balance of flavors. The few times I have dinned in I thought the service was good as well. If you're looking for a place with great takeout, Coleman Public House won't disappoint.

Yelp
We came here for dinner. The menu sounded good online and my boyfriend is named Coleman! I got the pimento cheese BLT with no bacon, it was delicious. Tasted like a spruced up grilled cheese. I love the taste of the pimento cheese with the tomato. I also upgraded my fries to the aloha fries. Totally worth that extra 2 bucks because they give you a lot of fries and it's phenomenal. Salty, sweet, sour just everything you could love. The fries also stayed crispy with the sauce. Our server was nice and the bartender was friendly. The place itself looks like your typical bar type restaurant. They had some mixed drinks that sounded amazing but I didn't partake.

Yelp
This unassuming looking pub style restaurant has the most delicious food inside. We ventured here Saturday night based on other reviews and really enjoyed our meals. My son ordered the adult fried shrimp plate that came with two crab & corn fritters and fries. He gobbled up the fried shrimp and couldn't even finish. I think they give you twelve. He wasn't a fan of the fritters, they were a a bit overdone. The fresh cut fries were yummy. I would give my shrimp & grits 5 stars! Delicious. My husband got the shrimp po boy. Good sized and a side of aloha fries. He regretted ordering the aloha fries. They were tasty but he's not used to having all that sauce on fries. I thought they were tasty, something gave it a bit of a kick and enjoyed the furikake sprinkled on them. Our service was excellent we would definitely venture here again.

Yelp
Coleman's was a great place to eat. Best sweet tea in the south. The food and selections were great. They were also very flexible with protein options for their salads. I had blackened shrimp on a wedge salad! Delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. We'll be back to try more options. I am really curious about their shrimp and grits! It was also cozy, coastal, but authentic. Had a nice rustic beach house feel the place.
google avatar

Chino P.

Yelp
What a great place to eat. Food and service were very good. Definitely, come back when I'm around the area.
google avatar

Dov R.

Yelp
Friendly staff, delicious burgers {many varieties}, lamb gyros and salads. Prices are reasonable. Neighborhood restaurant ambience, outdated decor and seating
google avatar

Nicholas S.

Yelp
Could be good. But should be great. Its 2024 Coleman. Get a gluten free bun on your menu already. Its not hard. Everyone else has one. You have great burgers I would love to eat more of them, but a lettuce wrap in this day and age doesn't cut it. Need recommendations call any of the other restaurant in town that do.

Kelly A.

Yelp
Food was great and we were able to call ahead so we don't have to wait. We enjoyed the Cobb salad, grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, a burger and shrimp and grits. Very tasty. Friendly server and hostess and fast service. The only disappointment was the small parking lot and the dated interior in need of updating.
google avatar

Emma P.

Yelp
I thought this place was going to be a dive bar with mediocre food, and I was wrong. I love this place. Their cocktails are delicious and their lamb gyro is exactly what I wanted it to be. Full of meat, full of flavor and they use a traditional beef and lamb mix. I love that they are open later for food during the week so if I'm out past 9pm I can still get great food and friendly conversation from the wait staff. During my last visit they did forget to put in the appetizer so it never came, but we're all doing the best we can and she was really busy. It's got a classic public house vibe to it, nothing crazy but it's cute and a good spot for a casual date night.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Great selection of flavorful dishes with great service and cozy atmosphere. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose. The ribs are delicious and one if my favorites but the salads and burgers are great as well.

Mark C.

Yelp
The food and service were good, as usual. However, when we got the check there was an additional "convenience charge" added this time. When asked the bartender said it was automatic and was charged regardless of how you paid. These added fees are out of control. The charges are always considerably more than the transactional costs associated with credit cards and are merely a cheesy method of profit enhancement. I've patronized the Public House for most of my adult life, but I won't be back. These fees are fundamentally dishonest.
google avatar

Marty S.

Yelp
Good service, good food, good experience. Nothing stood out as great, but it was an evening well spent. I think you'd enjoy it as much as we did.
google avatar

Lynn D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink espresso martini & old fashioned ninth very good....laid back vibe, food looked great, met the owners and sampled the amazing "Family" recipe pimento cheese dip! 5 Stars! Can't beat their hospitality! Will definitely come back on our next trip to SC!
google avatar

Yelp
I love exploring for new restaurants when I visit a new location . I tend to avoid big chain restaurant-mills because sometimes there lacks passion for the food or service. Last night, being later than I'd hoped for, there were few options for a family owed restaurant after 9:30 0 PM. I ran across this Coleman public house with 4.5 stars and went. I sat at the bar and had the salmon southwest salad.. Let me tell you it was the absolute best salmon I've had in a long time. Cooked perfectly with delicious greens. Salad dressing was subtle and not overwhelming. They have an impressive selection of beers on tap as well. The bartender was obliging when I asked for an ice-cold glass. I didn't try the smoked Gouda Mac n cheese but will next time! I'll be back!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Had the chicken gyro w fries. Both were excellent- they give a lot of fries! Service was friendly and attentive. The table next to me had salads. They looked great too! Will definitely be back to try them!
google avatar

MaryBeth W.

Yelp
The beverage selection was wonderful. The food was great and our waitress was excellent. It was just the perfect type of local fair we were looking for. We had the corn fritters and we each got burgers. Absolutely everything was delicious, right down to the French fries. If we didn't live 10 hours away we would definitely go back.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
This is my third time here, first time loved it, second time with doggo no one liked the picnic tables and this time semi date night sat at bar. The first time, I loved the burgers- really not a fan of smash burgers so it's great to find a real place. The bartenders were great like really great. I think the wine price was way too high like let's go to Nick's for a better chardonnay for the same price. Beer selection was good. The burgers were really good- they were both suspiciously uniform like frozen premade patties but I should have asked. We will come back!
google avatar

Chad H.

Yelp
Went seeking out a burger and got a very good one. Great service, chill atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Jerry B.

Yelp
Food well prepared and served. Often, special dishes. Quiet, comfortable pub-type atmosphere. One of our favorite lunch and beer/wine & appetizer places.
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Food was great! Service top notch. Casual and Quiet place to dine inside or outside. We started with perfectly fried Calamari and Jalapeño peppers and fried Green tomatoes with goat cheese. We added a beet salad with arugula for some healthy greens. I had the pan sautéed Chicken with wonderful orzo and mushrooms with a DELICIOUS Porcini Marsala sauce . A Fungi burger cooked to perfection with garlic fries for my dining partner. Instead of a sweet desert, we split a Orange creamsicle frozen drink Yummers. Something for everyone. Family friendly, kid's menu and casual dining. Full bar in front with several dining areas sure to please all.
google avatar

Kris G.

Yelp
The atmosphere is chill. The burgers are on point and quite delish. Get the lamb slider made into a FULL burger, you won't regret it! Also, those parm truffle fries... so yummy! Crispy, thin and full of flavor. Nice infused pineapple marg too! They have a great selection of beers on tap and creative cocktails seasonally. Open late. Nice Sunday burger special to boot!
google avatar

Chrissy F.

Yelp
The service and staff is top notch! Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and an offer to either sit indoors or outdoors. Being that it was superb outside, we opted for a shaded area within the front area. There's plenty of wines, beers, and seasonal cocktails to choose from. For starters shared some corn fritters and spinach + artichoke dip. The dip was heavy on the creaminess and the pita had a good balance of crisp and softness. For the main entree I got the fungi burger and side dish of Caesar salad which ended up to be a stellar choice!! Solid place to get some food and drink up in your system!

Beth G.

Yelp
Second time we are here. To be fair, the first time was good, which is why we came back. This time the beer was warm and flat and the food was mediocre at best. The burger was definitely not medium. It was both over cooked AND cold at the same time. The fries were bottom of the barrel tiny little pieces. The service was awful too. We spent $110 for three people and left extremely disappointed. Don't waste your time. There are far better places just a stone's throw away.
google avatar

Kathy W.

Yelp
Not far from Patriot point, we stopped by after our visit. We chose to eat outside. Service was a bit slow but then we were not in a big rush. We had fried calamari- it was so good , fresh and tender. Also I loved fried pepper in there. It's luck if you get a real spicy one or just a regular one. Tasted good. And I love it that they included the calamari head. My fav part. My son has their bbq burger. It was giant fir him but he finished about 3/4. He really loved it. I like the shrimp poboy. Just felt like there could fit in more shrimp. Sharon n grits for my hubby , you can't doll go wrong. It's really good.
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
We loved our fried chicken sandwiches. The sauce and seasoning sets it apart from the rest in town.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great find in the Mount Pleasant area. It is a small place with a great menu! There was very friendly service by the staff who came to the table to check with us regularly. We started with the crab and corn fritters. Delicious! Great appetizer! For entrees, My husband tried the chicken sandwich with onion straws and I had the fish and chips. Huge piece of haddock on top of house cut French fries. The dish came out hot and delicious! The chicken was a swap from a beef patty which is great the kitchen does that. Many restaurants with burgers on the menu don't swap for grilled chicken. Thank you! We had a nice dinner here with great service, would highly recommend!
google avatar

Bruenar M.

Yelp
Shrimp and mahi tacos. Oh my. Oh so good. Wife had the burger and our friends had salad and a burger. All enjoyed the meal. Service was perfect. Dove into the food and forgot to take pictures lol
google avatar

Randi T.

Yelp
This place was great! We had a long day of travel and were ready for a good place for dinner. The food was great and the service was very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Syndee D.

Yelp
I had the California burger and enjoyed it. I had it medium well and it had a great flavor to it. The Dijon mustard added to the avocado, sprouts, and cheese. I did add some mayo to it, just a me thing!! The fries tasted great and cooked very well, not oily at all. The service left a lot to be desired. We kept having to ask someone else for drink refills, ketchup, and our appetizers never arrived. Would have loved to give it more stars but maybe next time I can update my review
google avatar

Kelsey F.

Yelp
The food and service were pretty good. I got the chicken sandwich and my husband got the fish and chips. It was smaller than expected inside but they have seating outside as well!
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! It has a pub vibe and feel but the food is fantastic! The sandwich/burger menu remains fairly constant but the dinner menu changes somewhat frequently based on availability of fresh ingredients. Rest assured that anything you order here will most likely be some of the best you've ever had! I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The last time I visited I was there with a bunch of Navy veterans that had spent a lot of time in Scotland and several of them ordered Fish & Chips. All of them agreed it was the best they had ever had outside of Scotland! I ordered the Seafood Linguine (Shrimp and Little Neck Clams) and it was fabulous! They have a good craft beer selection both on draft and in cans/bottles. They have a full bar with many specialty cocktails available. We were seated promptly and the service was exceptional! Cheers!

Colleen S.

Yelp
Go see Alex at this wonderful spot. If you're from out of town, go early into your trip . She will give you GREAT suggestions for things to do in and of other places to dine while visiting Charleston and the area. Of course, you'll have CPH as a staple in your list of go-to eateries. The food is delicious and fresh. I highly recommend the asian ribs to start. They are incredibly tender and delicious. The entire team represents the wonderful hospitable nature of the fine folks of CHS. I expect to have an A+ experience at CPH but Alex elevated it. We each ordered salads and might have been considered polite yet picky customers with our requests for modifications, but it almost felt encouraged. They were more than happy to accommodate us so we would enjoy our visit
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Solid and consistent. I have been dining at Coleman public for so many years. Through Covid they did their best and provided a solution for hard times. They are still here and they never disappoint. The food is great, service has always been stellar. The outside seating is not great but again they do their best considering you are in the parking lot. Inside the Ambiance is clean and very comfortable. I eat here very often and look forward to many more years to come.Caesar Salad

Yelp
After reading reviews, I had much higher expectations of Coleman Public House. First of all, their choice of music was borderline annoying. Second, there was a 3 dollar up charge for a salad to substitute for fries. My house salad was underwhelming in both size and flavor and my husband's Caesar was nothing more than romaine with bottled dressing and Parmesan sprinkled on top. My burger was definitely tasty and our order of fish properly fried, but the prices charged did not live up to the meals that were delivered. In addition, the server tried to remove my husband's plate while he was still eating! Drink refills were not offered until AFTER we were done with our meal. Later in the week the nearby POST HOUSE outdid themselves in both service, quality, and presentation of food.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal here. While the outside can be unassuming, I was very pleased walking in. Its warm and cozy, with booths, a bar and outside seating. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was a cold night and their tomato soup and grilled cheese was amazing!! The goat cheese inside really brought it home. I will definitly be coming back. The parking lot can be small there is more parking to the left side of the building as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Service is always great, and food/drinks are usually always quick to the table. The mac n cheese is a personal favorite, but you can try anything in the menu and be satisfied and enjoy your meal. Also takeout often tastes the same as sitting down, which is hard to come by these days. Mount pleasant has lost a lot of its charm when it comes to restaurants, usually fast, cheap food for a high price, but there's a few diamonds in the rough left, CPH is definitely one of them! I always try to recommend to traveler's and new residents, as well as locals who may have forgotten. Keep up the good work!
