This was our second time here & they did not disappoint! I ordered the Chipotle chilaquiles with no potatoes, scrambled eggs, with a side of steak. My fiancé ordered his usual steak and eggs. I came to write a review because today he said ,”This might be my favorite breakfast place.” Strangers on the internet don’t know who he is but let me tell you he is a major foodie from Thailand whose love language is food. He has high expectations when it comes to food so for him to say this is his favorite place means they’re doing something right. My chilaquiles were delicious because of the chipotle sauce and crispy slices of tortilla. I’m pretty picky when it comes to chilaquiles especially if they come overly sauced and soggy. These did not! My side of steak was generous and cooked perfectly for me. The woman who attended us today is very friendly and attentive. She was our waitress the first time we came here and I was happy to get her again today. I read the negative reviews and wonder how they could write that because that hasn’t been our experience at all. We are always seated quickly and our food is served within 15 minutes. I think sometimes people exaggerate or are the impatient type. I hope you give this restaurant a try after reading my review! Please note my steak is not featured in the photo but it was 10/10!

Stopped by on a Sunday morning around 10, and was seated quickly. Service is friendly and quick. Highly recommend the cafe de olla y tortas. Wish there had been a spicy salsa offered, but we didn’t ask either. Vegetarian options and a fair amount of street parking. Prices are super fair

Brunch was so delicious! The place is very cute. The vibe and service is fantastic!! The chilaquiles, french toast and fresas con crema pancakes were to die for.

Google
Tried the Chilaquiles verdes and they were just amazing! The service was explicit, some of the sweetest people I have met. I’m currently visiting San Diego and the host recommended some amazing places and scenery in San Diego. It’s a great atmosphere filled with just amazing vibes. Loved!!

We went for breakfast at 8am excited because we heard great things but the food was just not what we expected. We ordered huevo con machaca and there was no onion tomato or green chile chopped up in the mix like stated on the menu. We asked them why it was just egg and beef and they said the veggies disappeared with the heat of the cooking, makes no sense! They just forgot. Then we asked for their sandwhich croissant which included avocado and they gave me rotten avocado it was black/brown it wasn’t good anymore & I asked nicely if they can switch the avocado for one that hadn’t gone bad & the lady stated all their avocados are the same way. How can a restaurant give bad avocados that clearly aren’t good to eat anymore? The service was great the lady super nice but was very upset with the food.

Love everything about this place. Small and intimate. Service was above and beyond and food was simple and delicious!

Veronica Patiño

Google
Ordered chilaquiles rojos with added chorizo and chilaquiles poblanos. Both of these were good size servings with beans, potatoes and eggs plus toppings. Great flavor on both, but those povlanos had a nice spicy kick to them! The Cafe de olla was delicious! Service was excellent.

Google
Nothing great about this place. The food is not bad, but the whole experience is awful. We waited more than 45 minutes for our plates, and the environment was dirty with a poor layout. The food lacks distinct flavors, yet we still had to wait a long time to eat. The service was disorganized, and you can’t even expect them to offer salsas or coffee. This place is simply not worth it. San Diego has so many other Mexican Restaurants that provide both authentic cuisine and a great dining experience. I do not recommend this place and won’t be coming back.

Yelp
Delicious brunch spot! Sweet and friendly staff! I had the American breakfast. Was feeling like something simple! Great bacon! Yum!! Edit: the potatoes are SO good and crispy. Michelle our server was amazing and super sweet!

Yelp
Had brunch at Coleta this past Sunday with a group of friends, and let me just say--I'm already thinking about what to order next time. Everything about this place is just so good--the food, the drinks, the service, and the overall vibe. I had the steak and eggs, and it was perfect--flavorful, cooked just right, and exactly what I wanted for brunch. But let's talk about the café de olla--rich, spiced just right, and they do refills (which, if you're a coffee lover, is a major win). The service was great--friendly, accommodating, and on top of things, even with a big group. The staff really made the experience even better. Would I recommend? 100%. Would I go back? Absolutely--there's a whole menu I need to try. If you're looking for a solid brunch spot in National City, this is it.

Yelp
I've been seeing Coleta on Instagram for a while now and finally made our way there with my wife and son for a late breakfast. The restaurant is located in the Market in 8th, which is cool since everyone can get what they want if they don't feel like having a Mexican breakfast. I ordered the Chilorio Benedict. The meat was delicious; I think it was a cochinita pibil, or something similar. The sope used for the benedict was super tough, kind of hard to cut through, even after I asked for a steak knife, which made the table wobble a lot and my cafe de olla to spill. Cafe de olla was delicious by the way, I like mine in the sweeter side and it was perfect. The wife ordered machaca which she enjoyed and my son ordered pancakes. After he paid the dad tax, the pancakes were decent, definitely not pancake house quality, but it's a Mexican restaurant so they were good enough. Over all I found Coleta enjoyable and the food was pretty good. The server was nice and attentive and if I'm in the area I would go back.

Yelp
This place is in a corner of a food market. The Coletas benedict was really good. Would definitely get it again. The chilaquiles were okay - Nothing to rave about but not bad. The coleta french toast was a disappointment - the bolillo bread just doesnt do it for french toast. Would skip. Kids grilled cheese was decent.

Yelp
The food and service was great!! The decor was super cute, would eat here again. I would recommend the café and chilaquiles.

Yelp
Coleta Brunch is another one of the new vendors at the revamped Market on 8th food hall in National City. The easiest way to find them is to use the east doorway to the facility as their dining area was spread out between the first stall to the right and the sidewalk adjacent to the entrance where a menu sign was posted. Dulce, omelettes, house specials, lunch sandwiches, and sides were the categories. They close at 3 pm daily which is pretty late to conclude brunch. You checked in at the hostess stand to get your name on the waitlist. There was none at the time of my visit because a couple of small tables were open in the alcove to the right of the kitchen preparation area. From the list of 11 house specials, my choice was the Machaca + Eggs. The dish was made up of dried beef mixed with scrambled eggs, tomatoes, jalapenos, and onions. Corn tortillas and servings of house potatoes and refried beans were provided on the side. The tortillas were some of the better ones I have tasted in a while because of how warm and fresh they were from the kitchen. There was a lot of meat mixed in with the eggs. If I had to nitpick, then I wish the plate was completed filled with the scramble, potatoes, and beans instead of open space along the bottom edge which you can see in my photo. I don't eat brunch very often, let alone one with Mexican cuisine, however my dining experience at Coleta Brunch was positive enough for a four star rating.

Yelp
We came here Sunday morning and there was a long waitlist, Make sure to come in early to reserve a seat! I ordered the Coleta's Benedict, the portions were a little on the small side but it was worth the wait. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the sauce made it even better. It's a relatively new place, the servers were a bit over the place but that's ok. The servers did their best and were really kind.

Yelp
For the last week, I tried calling the number on their IG to make a reservation but the phone kept on ringing with no voicemail. I'm not sure how you are supposed take-outs if nobody is picking up the phone. We gambled and came on Sunday around 10 am and thank goodness, we were seated right away. The line started forming around 10:30 am. We were greeted and asked if we wanted any beverages by a different person. Drinks came fairly quick. We got our orders in. One dish came out first and we had to wait for the other. We ordered: * Cajeta French Toast * Chilorio eggs benedict * Coleta's benedict The food was good. I tried to asked if the potatoes can be extra crispy but was told that they were pre-made. We saw our server at the beginning and end of the meal when we were almost ready for our check. We could've used a water and/or coffee refill in the middle. I wish we had a fly portable fan as seen on another photo because there were flies and we kept on swatting them. The place is in Market on 8th so you will have to find street parking.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal here. The ambiance was great walking in and I was surprised to realize Coleta was also a part of the food hall. Nonetheless, it was really a great dining experience, from the table setting to the last bite of my meal. The lady helping me was super friendly. She recommended the poblano chilaquiles which she described as creamy, and I loved it. I devoured everything in just a few minutes. The plating of the food elevated my experience ~ all the colors on my plate were aesthetically pleasing and made me excited for my meal. Prices are also very reasonable for San Diego. I am looking forward to coming back with friends!

Gabriela L.

Yelp
Loved the french toast! The service was great! Two lovely ladies took care of us in a very sweet matter. I loved how intimate and small it was, being that its inside the market building. Cafe de olla was amazing too!!

Karen E.

Yelp
New addition the the restaurants on 8th, they have decent amount of tables. Love that there vibe is authentic Mexican. The staff is friendly and bilingual in English and Spanish. The menu has good options , I decided to try the torta with chilaquiles, they ask you what kind of sauce you want and they have red, green, and chipotle. You can add eggs and chorizo if you want. I added both, also comes with onion, beans, avocado, and cheese. Conceptually a great torta but I do think the sauce could have more flavor. The torta comes with potato's and they were great! Had a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. I tried their cafe de olla and it had a good flavor but a bit thicker than other cafes I've tried. Giving it 4 stars just because I do think the flavor of the torta could be better. Will be back to try some of their other dishes

Ed M.

Yelp
I enjoyed the brunch. Filling and authentic. I had their Mexican coffee which had a taste of cinnamon to it. They did cram their seating in pretty tight. We sat in a corner by a window. They had to work with what they got I guess. I believe you can eat outdoors too or elsewhere in the market.

Erika P.

Yelp
Love the ambience. Decor was cute. Service was great. My favorite was the Café de Olla. It was as perfectly sweetened and I loved that they could make it iced upon request. I also loved the conchas that they offered while we sipped on our coffee and waited for our food. They were very moist. Usually conchas can be more on the dry side but these definitely weren't. I ordered the steak and eggs $22. The menu said it was 8 ounces but it honestly looked like less. I would have also liked more chimichurri on top of the steak for more flavoring. Overall, I was not impressed by the food. My husband's chicken torta was ok. I think id just come back for coffee and conchas to go. Overall food was good, but not great. Our total came out to be about $60 plus tip.

Yelp
We were greeted by the hostess of Coleta at Market on 8th, so we decided to try it out. This was my first time seeing this vendor at the food court. It was early, calm, and there was soothing music coming from the main dining area. We were sat just outside of the restaurant. I ordered the steak and eggs paired with homestyle potatoes and corn tortillas. Service was top notch and the food met my expectations for flavor and presentation. Good brunch spot in National City.

Scott S.

Yelp
Such a cool spot. It's no wonder this restaurant is a success. Service was so personal and our server made sure everything was exceptional. Food was delicious. I would order the chilaquiles with sauce on the top - not mixed in. The chips stay crisp longer. It's the first time I had Mexican coffee and it was a WOW!

Liz Z.

Yelp
Checked out this brunch place on a Wednesday and was seated immediately. Michelle was an absolute gem taking care of us and it was a bit hot inside the venue but made sure we were good! Loved the food and the decoration of the place. Market on 8th is an open venue with multiple seating so it may be a bit tough but worth trying this place! We came on a day where it wasn't too busy so we had no issues with seating and ordering food. FYI - MUST TRY THEIR CHILAQUILES WITH VERDE SAUCE. It's amazing I can't explain the taste and it's by far one of the best places where I've gotten my chilaquiles fix and wanted to finish it but save it for later... LOL. Everything we tried was delicious! Love that this is close to home. Must stop by and support and try them out!

Priscella N.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but it was very much just ok. My wife got chilaquiles and it came out quick but cold. Everything was pre-made and the papas are frozen from bag. The cafe de Olla was very good and hot. I'm gonna give then another try for sure but they need to work on a couple things. The waitress was friendly and seating was plenty.

Prescilla S.

Yelp
Wanted to try out this new spot since the night of the grand opening showcasing the new food vendors however they were not open that night since I'm assuming it's a brunch spot. Me and my friend were given a flyer on opening night that was for a free conchita and cafe de olla when they did open up. I initially was just going to go for my free coffee and concha but me and my friend wanted to try out their food instead. The food was good and decently priced but the portions were not that big. Upon getting a table I presented the flyer and told our waitress that I wanted to order food and that I would take the cafe de olla and the conchita to go. She said that she could not honor the flyer since it was only valid on that night I received it (9/12/2024) I explained to her that Coleta was not open that night (it started at 5) and I was handed that flyer around 630pm. I also told her that on that flyer it doesn't state a date when it's expired. Just states to come in and enjoy a conchita and cafe de olla once you present the flyer. Anyways I wasn't gonna keep going back and fourth with our waitress so I told her I'll just order the cafe de olla and to forget the concha. She told me she wouldn't charge for the coffee but upon receiving the bill I was charged for the coffee. Which now I know I could've gotten refills of that coffee since I paid for it but I didn't ask for any refills cuz I was told it was going to be free. She seemed a bit flustered and kept forgetting to check up on us and forgetting to bring us items we had asked for as well. I want to blame it on the fact that they were having some type of media showcasing where someone was taking video and pics. So I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. BTW if you decide to eat there and they don't give you any of the little table fans to keep the flies away just beware you will have to keep swatting them yourself. We weren't given a table fan and we were kinda forgotten table until the bill came. The reasoning for the 3 star rating, is mostly the dine in experience; however I ordered the chilorio eggs Benedict which I thought had great flavor just wish it came with more meat and I liked the potatoes that it was served with as well. I also got some house salsa which had a lot of flavor and good spice to it. My friend ordered the orange cinnamon pancakes. The flavor was amazing!! But I would've thought it would've came with more than just the pancake and fruit especially since it was 16.50; but the flavor and consistency of the pancake sort of made up for that. I would def come back to try other items as I love supporting local businesses however I would only order for take out.

Natalie V.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place. We ordered the steak & eggs, the description said skirt steak & your choice of 3 eggs. That was not skirt steak!!! It had too much fat on it & lack of flavor. We got 2 eggs instead of 3. I ordered the frescas con crema pancakes and they were so basic, not even the pancakes had flavor. The best part about the meal was the café de olla. I'm bummed we spent over $50 on such a mediocre breakfast. I didn't even take a picture.

Honey R.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambience. There's lots of options in one place. There's different food options in 1-area. There's street parking, but also are very busy.

T F.

Yelp
First time at Market on 8th. We all wanted more of a sit down meal so chose Coleta. Our waitress was so sweet. The food was fantastic- everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Great prices and huge portions.

Jacky S.

Yelp
My Favorite chilaquiles brunch spot . This is the go to place If you're looking for Mexican authentic brunch .The Cafe de olla is so delicious and it comes with a concha Mexican bread. If you want something sweet I would also recommend the Coletas French Toast . Everyone is very friendly always making sure you're taking care of . There is outdoor and indoor seating . Very family oriented I have been there a couple of times and definitely coming back .

K C.

Yelp
Picked this place after a brunch line up on Yelp. Specifically, looking for eggs benedict. Picked out their Cafe de Olla and Colete's Benedict. The cafe de Olla came with pan deluce, which was a nice welcome, as we were a slightly famished. This was the first time having the cafe de olle, didn't add sugar or creamer. Ended up having 3 cups through my breakfast and 1 more for the road! As for the Coleta's benedict ... it was an English muffin with a poached egg, chorizo, chipotle hollandaise sauce, avocado with house potatoes. The waitress asked if I wanted red or green salsa. I chose red. The red 'salsa' was enjoyably more of a non-spicy chili crisp, a great addition to the Coleta's benedict. I would have liked a more runny poached egg but it was delicious, none the less. I would come back and order this again and again. Will eventually venture and explore the rest of the menu but so far so good. Two thumbs up great holiday fun! Be patience with the staff, the place can get slammed with customers, enjoy a cup of coffee and your pan dulce before your meal.

Paulina B.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Authentic Mexican Food ! Service was great! This place is amazing, Big Family Food Court with so many options and everything looks delicious!

Adair D.

Yelp
Me and my fiancée went with our son to have some brunch and the food was delicious, the service was great, and the timing on having food ready was very good , the owner is friendly ,polite , and very welcoming ; we will definitely be going back And inviting family to COLETA . The spot it's located in is nice . I had some chilaquiles it came with sunny side eggs and refried beans , diced potatoes and we added a peace of steak . it was delicious

Erik D.

Yelp
Not sure what the hype is about, long wait for food. Ordered the chilaquiles verdes plate, food had no flavor. Would rather eat at dennys.

Melody P.

Yelp
The food was great quality and flavor. The service was amazing. Our server checked in several times to fill water and coffee. Such a nice experience with a holiday ambiance

Norma T.

Yelp
My new favorite brunch place!! It's located inside a new, cute little food hall 'Market on 8th'. The food was AMAZING! Our waitress was very nice and recommended a few things for us to try. We've been back a few times and tried a few plates: the chilaquiles, cajeta french toast, mole chilaquiles, and chorizo benedicts. Everything was spectacular! 10/10

Chantel M.

Yelp
I have ate here a handful times at coleta ever since they opened, and I love it more every time. They always make me feel so welcomed, they have great customer service the workers are very kind, and can speak English and Spanish. And have great chilaquiles and house potatoes! It's a very chill place to eat with friends and family I really recommend this place at the market on 8th!

Steph M.

Yelp
Service was okay. Food came out fast which was great. But maybe I was too excited because I got the Steak and eggs which is carne asada and any style of eggs you want. It came with beans and potatoes and bread or tortillas. But the meat had more flavor even with the chimichurri. The eggs were okay which is all I ate. But my appetite went out the window when I ate two pieces of meat. Just not good. Sent the food back and I'm supposed to get half of a refund back to my card. Just sad because finally a brunch place I can walk to and it wasn't good. Maybe the other food is good but wouldn't recommend the steak and eggs.

Karlo G.

Yelp
The Cafe de Olla is delicious and the servers are very friendly. We were sat fairly quickly and the staff answered all of our questions. The food was ok, my wife's poached eggs Benedict were overcooked and the chilaquiles needed a bit more zest/flavor. Beautiful location though, I hope that Market on 8th does well with the revamp. Come for the Cafe de Olla (unlimited refills), buy a conchita, and enjoy the day. One note for anyone seated inside or outside, you will be bugged by flies. No getting around that, it is what it is. Edit: Our friend initially recommended this place because apparently they also gave a complimentary conchita with the order of the Cafe de Olla. Unfortunately, when we ordered ours, we never got the free conchita. After a while, I just decided to place an order for a conchita. Was a bit confused, maybe we just missed a promotion/deal? Our friend just ate there a few days before we visited. Either way, worth noting, you'll have to spend that little bit extra to get your conchita.

Naty A.

Yelp
Super encantada con el servicio desde el check in con el personal y en especial nuestra mesera Michelle que estuvo al pendiente de todo.

Seth S.

Yelp
Very good food! The Eggs Benedict was great, as was the steak & eggs. I highly recommend getting here early, and make sure that you are hungry!!

Norma V.

Yelp
All the Chilaquiles are bomb, but the poblanos are my favorite. My husband had the torta de Chilaquiles, He said it was excellent. We also ordered a side of pancakes, todo bueno and the service was great too.!

Gabriel G.

Yelp
Very good service. I ordered the steak and eggs and it was amazing. Will definitely come back.
