27 Frozen Cocktails to Drink in Boston Summer 2019 | Eater Boston

"With the success of the frosé at Colette’s sister restaurant, Frenchie, the team at Colette — Porter Square’s new French bistro — knew it needed a signature frozen drink of its own. Beverage director Chris Keith chose the Negroni. His frozen take on the classic is made with Fords Gin, Carpano Antico vermouth, Campari, and orange juice." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Great lowkey lounge in the Boston Commons. They Share the same entrance as the Shaking Crab, btw. Low night-vibe tunes play to Nicely dim lighting and very accommodating staff. Small venue, so it makes you feel like you're exclusive there. Wonderfully simplified menu; one for food, one for drinks! Short wait time to be seated and served. Great tasting drinks and the food was delicious! Close to the commons movie theater, right off the Boylston T stop. If you're driving, expect to walk a few blocks. However you get here, come try this lounge out. It will definitely compliment your evening.

We sat in the Red Light District… A huge, radiant, red neon sign featuring the lounge’s name in lights. Our girls night out table was happening all night, and The Witches of Back Bay were looking for trouble! Having stayed in New Orleans for a couple of months, I was really looking forward to Nola style food. The corn on the cob, mac & cheese and fried catfish they served were good.… Mac & cheese was by far everyone’s favorite. But, many felt the cat fish breading lacked any flavor… And Nola is known for its seasoning. TIP: The bathroom door lock was broken. So, knock before you enter the throne!

I don’t even know where to begin. A knockoff Colette in the back of a …. Lobster tail? Why is my margarita yellow? Why is the music off? Why is the bartender wearing a hoodie? Why is nobody here? Why is the air conditioning blasting in January? Just trying to get a cocktail before a show at the Colonial Theater….I think we got lost and ended up in a little bar out of the third world country. There are even picture frames….with no pictures in them.. strange experience. Seems as if a money laundering operation.

Came here on a Friday night for some drinks and snacks. The cocktails were yummy!! We ordered the You're Like So Pretty and their version of the Espresso Martini. The place is pretty casual and has a nice atmosphere for pregame drinks or a chat. They have a nice couch lounge in the front by the windows that looks fantastic for a small group.

Google
Downgraded my rating from 4 to 3 stars and wish I could do 2.5 stars. Ive been here about 5 times and each time was a little worse than the last. The drinks are adequate, but they can't make anything a real bar could make, just the overly sweet cocktails on the menu. The food is extremely hit or miss. I ordered the exact same lobster skewers on two visits. First time: life changing. Amazing. Second time: they deep fried a shelled lobster. I had to pick through it to get to the meat. Total waste of a lobster and the goodness of deep frying. I would have sent it back but clearly the chef had no idea what they were doing. This place is great for a pre-show drink because they're fast. But fast doesn't equal good. And the reason they're fast is that no one wants to be there.

Somewhat of a catfish restaurant (pun intended). Me and my girls went because of how good the promotion was. When you get there it’s actually part of shaking crab restaurant. When you go in, it’s underwhelming. It’s a long bar stool across the wall with lounge chairs at each table. The lounge seating area at the front is for waiting and not eating which was unfortunate because it’s pretty cute up front. The back where you will be seated has bad lighting. Our expectations was a lounge experience, and it was not so much that. Couches should’ve been part of the entire restaurant as it’s pretty small. The food was just okay. We realized it was the same cook that makes the food for shaking crab upstairs because all the apps were extremely over cooked and we’ve dealt with that from shaking crab before. Calamari and wings damn near impossible to chew, Lobster fries and catfish were great. Drinks were super cute and good as well. Overall experience 6.5 out of 10. Could use some work.

Google
Loveddddd this place! Very good vibes, the bartender was great, and the drinks were amazing. The food was a little unseasoned but the overall energy made up for it. Will definitely be back!

Such a hidden gem in Boston! My friends and I went here and had a blast. The bartenders Ally and Kayla were so friendly and made amazing drinks. Definitely recommend 😊

Yelp
Colette had pretty good drinks! I had the passionista and someone else had the berry basil smash (which was mint instead of basil since they had run out). Both drinks were strong, but still had great flavor! Just taking one star off since the lighting was quite bright when we were there, even though it was a Friday night. The servers seemed very friendly though!

Yelp
Extraordinary addition to the theater district/midtown Boston. Friendly staff, everyone with energy to spare. Great music. I sampled the following drinks: Pimms Cup Fruity liqueur cut with ginger beer and lemon juice, so doesn't taste too sweet, begs for seconds. Louisiana Express Sweet punch, perhaps too sweet, but the guava plays happily with vodka. Whattamelon Bae Perhaps not always on the menu, but if you're in the mood for an ice cold slurry of watermelon and vodka, lemon and rosemary, you're in luck. Finally, and of course, the vaunted mac and cheese should be on every human's bucket list. Gooey and garlic infused. Cozy, great drinks, great music, there's nothing not to like here.

Yelp
If I we're flat broke, I'd a rob a bank for their Mac N CHEESE. It'd be worth several years of imprisonment. They advertise that they serve small bites but the portions are sizable. I also ordered the chicken wings which were tasty, but I was blown away with the Mac and cheese. It was gooey and served in a skillet. Collette is intimate with a red aura. A perfect date spot! I went on a Saturday night and there only 3 other groups there. But that can be the case for a lot of Boston restaurants during the end of summer. My bartender was friendly, warm and personable. The host was a bit cold and which almost led me to writing a four star review, but their playlist made up for it because it mostly top 40, hip hop and Afrobeats which is my VIBEEE.

Yelp
This place is conveniently located in the Boston Common area and I highly recommend it. the staff are super nice and the decor is cute, without being overwhelming. Could work for a night out with friends, colleagues or dates. The menu has a Southern twist - We tried the fried corn on the cob, mac and cheese/pulled pork, catfish (yum!) and some cocktails- all memorable and worth a try!

Yelp
Came during the launch party and I am so excited to see what the future holds for Colette! The decorations, lighting and ambiance is perfect for all occasions - girls night out, catching up with some friends, date night, you name it. The drinks menu was actually very impressive. I'm not a big fan of tequila but I have to say their Southern Hospitality drink may have been my favorite. Their menu covers all the bases - you're bound to find a drink you'll enjoy. Food was delicious as well. Everything was packed with flavor and wasn't too overwhelming. The food menu features a lot of seafood and everything tasted like great quality. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
The place is located in the same space as Shaking Crab. So, you could also order food from them. But it took us 3 rounds to find this place since the sign was not located outside the building. Due to the busyness of bars in Boston, we went ahead and called the place to make sure, and there was a table for us. Our server was so friendly. The cocktails were tasty. As we enjoyed our drinks, more people came in. The place is charming, and I like the crowds.

Yelp
Good cocktails in well-lit space. To find Colette Lounge look for a sign that says "the Shaking Crab" and then enter through the corresponding door. We visited Colette Lounge on a Saturday night and it was completely empty, but they still had the music turned up loud. The design of Colette Lounge is open (presumably so people can stand near the bar after receiving their drinks). The lounge looks a bit cheap from the floor, to the tables, and finally to the decorations. The drink I ordered was tasty though, and because I wanted to catch up with friends, the emptiness of the bar was beneficial. Overall, I would not recommend Colette Lounge for the ambiance, but I would for the drinks.

Yelp
Colette was small and quaint. They had fun drinks and we had great service as we were the only ones there! The fried calamari was good and the cocktails were exciting. One of the drinks gets you a free Polaroid photo to remember the moment too. I liked the little mean girls movie references that I saw at Colette

Yelp
A group of us stopped by for after dinner drinks and were able to grab seats on a late Saturday night. The waitstaff offered to put tables together to make sure we were comfortable which was a really nice gesture. Drinks were excellent. The espresso martini and the espresso old fashion (!!) were both well crafted. When I hear the word lounge I walk in expecting a certain ambience and I think that is where this spot misses the mark, it is more bar like vibe and less lounge like. Regardless, if you are looking for good drinks this is a great casual spot to check out.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink and food. Did the job. Drinks were top notch, food was good and the vibe of the restaurant made it all better. The staff was very friendly

Yelp
Such a cute spot for a date night or girls night! Quite an extensive list of cocktails, with unique bar snacks. Food: The fried lobster tails are to die far. They're so juicy and perfectly fried. Fried catfish bites are also delish Drinks: Everything tastes good and is aesthetic Cajun storm, southern hospitality, berry basil smash. Just come, eat drink and have a good time!

Yelp
This lounge is very cute. If you're looking for a cozy place to grab a bite and a drink in the city, then look no further. I came here on a Friday night and it was surprisingly slow. The service was fast, the staff was super friendly, and the music was also on point. For food I had the chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious. I was blown away by how tasty it was, it exceeded my expectations. It came with fries which were both crispy and soft which I love. And for a drink, I tried the Passionista. Since I'm not a Vodka person the bartender was more than happy to substitute it for white rum and I also asked to add in peach schnapps for added sweetness and it was so yummy. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Perfect for a hang out with friends, or even a date! Note: there are no reservations for this lounge, it's first come first served.

Yelp
The cocktail was nice. It was called you're like really pretty. It had dried rose in it. I got the roasted broccoli and it was not good. It was smothered in cheese and tasted like plastic. I would go back just for drinks!

Yelp
Tried out this lounge! The drinks are great and the food is awesome. The first floor of the shaking crab is Colette lounge and the second floor is the shaking crab restaurant.

Yelp
Located in Downtown Boston, Colette is a super chic and sophisticated lounge. It's underneath the Shaking Crab on Boylston. I was invited to a private event and got to try some of their amazing drinks and small bites. I got the Southern Hospitality and my friend got the Passionista. Both drinks were delicious (and strong) and gorgeous! I personally liked my drink a little more as it had tequila. We also had some small samples of their cocktails and their seltzers which were light, sweet, and yummy! For food, we got to try their Louisiana cat fish bites with the Colette sauce, the street corn, and the Mac and cheese. I LOVED the fried cat fish bites. They were the perfect snack and just had the best crunch. Overall, I'd definitely come back and recommend this spot for friends to try. It's a small lounge, but don't underestimate their food and drinks!

Yelp
This establishment has a nice laid back atmosphere. Drinks was reasonable priced and the food was great. I had the fried cat fish bites and it was tasty. Would go here again to hang out with a few drinks.

Yelp
My friend and I came to Colette Lounge for some drinks, and we were not disappointed. Upon arriving, we were immediately seated at the bar. The bartender was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We were able to quickly place our orders, and he was able to quickly make them. On top of that, he was excessively nice and made good small-talk. He even gave us additional drinks on the house! Overall, my experience here was stellar; I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Wendy B.

Yelp
We didn't feel ready to go home just yet, so we decided to stop here after dinner for a few drinks. I'm glad we made that choice. An inviting, cozy, and intimate atmosphere prevails. Although I could have ordered approximately ten more, I chose the Passionista as my beverage. Really tasty! The fried calamari was another item I ordered. They were still accommodating even after I learned that they had just closed kitchen. Wonderful service, make sure to check them out.

Yelp
This is the cutest spot for a girls night or lowkey date night! The drinks were amazing and the small bites were pretty great too. We loved the Berry Basil Smash and Cajun storm for drinks and our favorite food was the lobster fried and bourbon corn. The lobster skewers were just okay but otherwise, everything was great! Would love to come back

Yelp
This is such a cute spot! Great place to go to after work. I went here with two of my friends to catch up and enjoyed every second of it. The two workers today, I believe Suzie and Simon, were so attentive and made sure we were having a great time. The decor was really nice and I loved the mural at the back next to the bar. We got the bourbon st corn, shrimp ceviche, catfish bites, fries and Colette wings with the Nashville Hot sauce. The drinks were DELICIOUS! Def check this place out if you're ever around Boston Common !

Yelp
Came here after wandering the streets looking for a good drink. So glad I found this place! Terry, the bartender, was absolutely amazing! As an out of towner, and West Coaster, I was trying to adjust to the East Coast way of things. He chatted with me about local and tourist attractions, public transport, and life! Drinks were delicious, made with expert mixology, and I ended up staying til nearly closing time! Thanks Terry for giving me a great experience!

Rosemary S.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place is so highly rated. It felt and looked like a spot that had been set up 24 hours before. All the back kitchen stuff like paper towels and napkins and cleaning supplies were out in the open. The tv signal was basically totally pixelated at all times. The drinks were actually decent and the staff was good but if you walk behind the first table which is clearly set up to be instagrammable, this place is a mess. Many many better places to go in Boston.

Yelp
Beautiful lounge and great drinks and food. Kinda expensive prices for the smaller portions but great flavor. We ordered the Roasted Broccoli, Lobster Skewers and Pass a Good Time. I would come back for just for the Lobster Skewers best they were so delicious. I wouldn't order the broccoli, it's more of a cheesy broccoli bake, rather than roasted with s&p. Drink were really great and the waiters were fantastic. Great experience overall.

Yelp
it's a girl name Kayla she was nice too me and a great server. Its great they have a hard working lady.

Yelp
I went to a Yelp Elite event here recently and loved it. They made Mac and cheese that was delicious - it stood out because I think they use a good dose of garlic which really went well. Nice atmosphere, the staff was very friendly. I will definitely be heading back and I recommend you do too!

Yelp
We came to Colette lounge for an early dinner on a Saturday night and loved it! For drinks we had a passionista and a bourbon street, then shared a Louisiana express, all of which were delicious. To eat, we had catfish bites, lobster skewers, and the bourbon street corn. The food was to die for. The atmosphere was great, and service was very good and very friendly. It was a great spot for a date night, and would be great for drinks with friends. We would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great cocktails. Very friendly service. Helpful with recommendations. Located on bottom floor of the shaking crab.

Yelp
Rarely do I come to a place for just a drink and have something bad to say. I ordered one glass of red wine, couldn't finish it. Tasted like the bottle was opened a week ago. My friend ordered a strawberry margarita and it was pure simple syrup. Service was extremely slow. The one star is for the fact that the waitress was nice. Will absolutely never be back.

Raymond C.

Yelp
The atmosphere and decor was nice. The place is a little cozy but it's perfect when you consider the ratio of service to requests. I went on a Friday and my servers were very attentive and hospitable especially Terry and Simon. They made sure my drinks both looked nice and tasted good.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends on Saturday. What an awesome spot right by the park! The cocktails were spot on -- we got a strong whisky with absinthe and a refreshing watermelon gin drink. Music was on point. And we got this amazing fried chicken slider. Definitely coming here to kick off the night next weekend.

Yelp
Increíble cocktail bar in Boston! 10/10 drinks and 10/10 staff. Will for a fact revisit when I'm in Boston again.
google avatar

Mark E.

Yelp
Checked out this "speakeasy" by the commons last night. Had a few stiff whiskey cocktails while we sat by the front and watched the circus that is Boston nightlife pass by on the street. Saw a bunch of colorful drinks being served for those looking for the sweet sweet. There's a bar in the back too and more formal seating where we grabbed a quick bite. Would recommend as a bookend to your drinking adventure.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Terry was our server they we're amazing. So kind nice kept checking in on us. The corn and wings were fantastic 10/10 a chill place to hang

Charlene F.

Yelp
Very cute and overall chill vibes for a date night. The drinks are a good balance between strong and flavorful. Didn't order any food this time but I would definitely come back to try it. Also the staff is super attentive and friendly. More people need know about the place. Could be the next turn up spot

Michael S.

Yelp
Delicious and strong drinks in a cozy lounge setting. Definitely try the "Down the Rabbit Hole" which is their version of a Sazerac! The calamari was a great snack, crispy and delicious with the dipping sauce it came with.

TheAnonymous F.

Yelp
came here after dinner. stopped in because of all the great reviews. however, the only thing good that I can say about the place is the music was amazing. drinks were awful and food was burnt.
