Where to Eat and Drink in Hillsboro, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Next to sister bakery Decadent Creations, Collective Market is a fine food grocer that sells local goods like Marion Acres meats and Grand Central bread. The shop’s bagels, made fresh daily, can be purchased as a single, by the dozen, or as a bagel sandwich or pizza bagel. The Angry Bird, a pecorino-habanero sesame bagel, delivers medium heat and a satisfying crunch." - Janey Wong

The bagels are so fresh, soft inside, crispy outside and so delicious. So many interesting flavors. Really happy they have a vegan cream cheese from Cultured Kindness. Good coffee too. My juice was a little off due to the previous vegetables used to make another customers drink but it was ok. Great space and friendly people.

Google
One of the best bagel breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in a while! I went in with my cousin for a late breakfast and she enjoyed the Mojo Pork Hash. The two people working there were super friendly and chatty. Their cream selection is crazy! They had pizza and even pho inspired cream cheese! I would’ve never thought to combine those flavors.

I’ve only ordered delivery from this place, but we love the bakery next door by the same owner and were excited to try something new. Love the chicken schnitzel sandwich, it’s so perfectly crispy. I’d never seen a bagel chip before either, but I love how they also use the bagels for croutons, genius. This is my new fixation it’s so good. Also love the fresh juices.

This was one of my favorite places in Hillsboro! Up until a couple of months ago when their menu changed and they removed almost all of their options and didn’t add any to the new menu. Now, only a couple of options on the menu, and nothing to compare how it was. I don’t have any plans to continue visiting until they bring better options back. Bring back the most popular Amy Special breakfast bagel sandwich, please!

Delicious bagels; supreme even. The salmon bagel was satisfying and flavorful. The perfectly whipped cream cheese and salmon and herbs was a 10/10. Grapefruit mimosa 4/10 not very cold, very pulpy. Peach tea- delicious but mild 8/10 The bagel sandwiches is a skip - 4/10. $12 for Italian “sub” sandwich that didn’t hold enough lettuce to really get the flavor of a an Italian sub. Also you have to be able to open your mouth really big to eat it and a strong jaw to chew the bagel sandwiches. It wasn’t bad but I would never order the Italian sub bagel sand which. Chewing just half of it gave me a headache. The bagel was soft but it’s still a lot to chew. The store is SUPER cute. No one can deny that. It’s such an attractive building and it is inviting plus the owner/manager was very warm and receptive and that is very important. Plentiful, beautiful seating inside and out.

This place was delicious! We got a couple of salads and the flavors were incredible. I am typically not impressed with the taste of most restaurant food nowadays so this was a very pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend and definitely go again.

Google
Cute little spot to grab lunch or a healthy cold pressed juice. They also have local products, brews, small house plants & home decor gifts. The bagel was really tasty and I would love to see them add more vegan options.

Google
Wow! Such a unique and friendly place in Hillsboro. They have a full breakfast/lunch menu! Which includes coffee, cocktails, beer, desserts, and more. There was no wait on a Wednesday around 10:00 AM. The Mojo pork hash is amazing! I am a salt addict and I did not pick up a salt shaker once to add to this meal. The vibe is relaxing and trendy. You could get a quick bite here or work for a few hours! Staff was attentive and friendly. It took only about 5 minutes to receive my food after ordering. And you can shop while you wait! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Yes, the prices are higher that what some customers would expect but you are getting SERVICE and QUALITY. Now days…you pay the same price in a drive through for NO quality or satisfaction! I will be back!

Yelp
Yes, everything is outrageously overpriced. But god damn this herby bagel absolutely stuffed with smoked salmon cream cheese was a thing of beauty. The bagel had a nice chewy exterior and the cream cheese had flakes of tender smoked salmon throughout. The market has a small selection of fancy local products, which you can get cheaper often elsewhere, but I want to support local small businesses within walking distance of communities when I can. I probably won't do much shopping here but I'm still dreaming about the bagel, so I'll be back.

Yelp
Will have no issue reverting to the last review with an explanation, but let's talk about third-party delivery services for a bit. I understand they do not always work in an establishment's favor. I understand the fees can be extraordinary and the additional workload can put a strain on businesses struggling to maintain adequate staffing as it is. That said, the right time to address your business' relationship with a third-party delivery service is preferably before the start of the business day. It is before you've informed customers that you're accepting orders and that they're within their rights to place one from you. It is not 15 minutes after an order has been placed, when you've decided that your business doesn't have the bandwidth to produce two breakfast sandwiches. As I said in my last review, Collective Market has made great strides from pricey, niche urban farmer's market to eatery with exceptional cooking classes and events. But a business is all elements of its existence, and customer service--even to third-party delivery customers--is part of the equation. We wouldn't have placed an order if we hadn't before and enjoyed the experience (an emergency Amy Special is sometimes just what the household needs). But once you've set that expectation, pulling the rug in mid order doesn't give a customer great faith that you'll be a viable option the next time around. This isn't going to make me swear off Collective Market bagels, sandwiches or events: There's just a very strong chance that the next breakfast delivery order comes from Hale's.

Yelp
A quick meal & fresh juice from the Collective Market is a great way to start your day, but beware: there are so many yummy options on the menu it may be hard to make a decision on what to choose!

Yelp
What a cute lil store! Or maybe not so little, as there's actually a decent amount going on in here. Besides the gorgeous mural outside and the fun neon sign above the front door, there is indoor and outdoor seating here. Inside, it is a local and scratch made grocery that also offers freshly made bagels, juice, ice cream, spreads, and more. I got a quesadilla (with really good salsa!), asiago cheesy bagel with cream cheese, and a birthday chocolate to go. All tasty! And really pleasant service from the staff. Prices are a little high for grocery - but it's specialty products, locally sourced, etc, so it's great for specific items and gifts.

Yelp
While the food I ordered was very oily it was delicious and I was sure that the ingredients they used were high quality. Some products at the store didn't have prices so I had to ask the workers a few times but they were nice and helpful. I'd go back if I'm in the area. By the way, the sourdough pancakes were amazing though a bit burnt but there's a charm in that lol.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwich in Hillsboro! They make incredible bagels, pastries, and fresh-pressed juices.

Yelp
We came to check the place out after visiting the Downtown Hillsboro Farmer's Market on a Saturday and had to come back the next day on Sunday for brunch! They have their own parking lot so that makes it very convenient. This place is a market store, restaurant, and they also cooking classes here as well! You walk through the market shelves filled with fresh local produce, dairy, meat, and other goods to get to the order counter. They offer many options for breakfast, lunch, and beverages including coffee and fresh juice. It definitely has a clean modernized diner/cafe feel. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself anywhere. There were inside tables options and outside tables for nicer weather. It wasn't super busy when we went in around 10am on a Sunday morning and we got our drinks first (Pineapple Express Juice and Nola Inspired Iced Coffee) and the food came out shortly after. The Dat Hash Tho hit the spot with a perfectly runny egg on top, and the Amy's special bagel sandwich was huge! They also have a serve-yourself water station with a lot of condiment options for you to take to your own table. This is also where the busing station too. We got our food fairly quickly but I did see a family that came after us waiting quite a bit when they got busy. I guess maybe it depend on what you ordered? I thought the pricing was reasonable for the quantity and quality for the food and drink, and the vibe is very family friendly. I would love to come back for lunch or their Friday Food Truck nights!

Yelp
This is a great addition to Hillsboro downtown. The sourdough pancakes are delicious! So are all the other items on the menu! It's my favorite place for breakfast in a charming store/restaurant

Yelp
This market place is super cute! They not only sell breakfast and lunch items that you could easily take to-go or sit down, but also sell house-made sauces such as aoli's, ranch and many more sauces to self care items such as organic pumpkin face mask and even beard oil. I tried out their brunch which always ends at 2pm, I got the jalapeños and cheese bagel and did the basic egg and cheese for $7.75. I also added bacon $2.00 and avocado $2.50. This breakfast sandwich was very delicious, especially with hot sauce! I also got the steak & eggs $11.50 with a cheese bagel. This was super good, I love the caramelized onions in it and their special sauce topped it off. Would get this one again, this sandos is also very filling as well. To drink I got the Hawaiian Punch which has beets, pear, orange and lime. All their juices has a set price of 10oz $6.50 and 16oz $9.50. This drink was really refreshing and tasty! Overall, would come again to try other items. Staff was really kind and gave me samples of their house made cream cheese, which are really good as well. Environment seemed cleaned, although seatings are limited and I could see that this place could get crowded during peak season like summer.

Yelp
I really like the concept behind Collective Market. Everything is scratch made in house or sourced from local vendors. The menu offers several vegetarian options, which is always a plus for me. After reading the reviews and perusing the photos, Collective Market was on my "check it out" list. So one hot day when I didnt feel like going anywhere after work, I opted to do delivery from Collective Market. I ordered their zucchini fritter benedict, egg salad bagel and fries. It did seem to take a bit longer to arrive than most places, but that's forgivable when things are made to order. The egg salad bagel arrived open face in a box. The egg salad is rather soupy so it ran off the bagel and against the box. It may be better to order this in house. My friend said it tasted good. The fries were tasty. I like that they don't cut the skin off the potatoes and the fries weren't greasy. The zucchini fritter benedict was a disappointment. It's not really a benedict at all. There is no English muffin just the zucchini fritter topped with over easy eggs. There was so much eggshell in my eggs that I spit out more than I ate. The avocado and sauce were good but not enough to salvage the main component of eggs. There were burnt potatoes on the side. Collective Market is both a restaurant and a market. They sell many locally made items. So my first try at Collective Market was unsuccessful. I think they have potential and deserve another try in the future. They are located near the Hillsboro Central/ SE 3rd transit center.

Yelp
The service is good, and quick. The bagel breakfast sandwich with bacon is absolutely delicious and my favorite! The value is amazing, the bagel sandwich is big enough for breakfast and lunch! Love this place

Yelp
First of all, I love the idea of this place, a cute little market where you can get local provisions, right next to my favorite bakery (of the same owner). The branding and aesthetic is super cute, totally my vibe, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I've visited several times to browse their selections but had never purchased anything until today. My husband and I visited on a brisk Sunday morning and were greeted immediately upon walking in. We had a great conversation with the employee at the register and we each ordered a bagel sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon. We decided to enjoy our coffee (that we grabbed from the bakery next door) while sitting at the counter in front of the open kitchen as we watched our food being made. We could have dined in as there was plenty of seating but we took our bagels to go. The portion is huge, super tasty and very filling. I'd love to return and try one of their lunch bagel sandwiches.

Yelp
I have four hours to wander around Hillsboro so I texted my foodie friends with recommendations. This was the first place suggested and I'm glad I came here! The restaurant was easy to find/walk to from the courthouse. I came around 10:00 am on a weekday so it wasn't crowded and no wait in line. It was very pleasing to my senses as I walked in - the smells and the restaurant set up. Staff was really friendly and offered suggestions on what to try. I ended up with a rosemary & sea salt bagel sandwich (egg/cheese/bacon/avocado). It was perfect - each bite better than the last. I will definitely be back to try various bagels & cream cheese flavors.

Yelp
Highly recommend for any time - breakfast, lunch or dinner! Everything is scratch made and FULL of flavor. Super clean ingredients and the people there are so friendly. House made sourdough bread, scratch made cream cheese, epic breakfasts! Absolutely worth it and highly recommend!

Yelp
Easily the best breakfast sandwich in the whole metro. I love the drink selections too. Great soft serve ice cream! (I don't know why this isn't the first result when I search yelp for bagel sandwiches, so I decided to add this review...)

Jacob T.

Yelp
Came in during the middle of a weekday and the host said "hope you don't mind a wait cause we are swamped". I assumed she was joking as there were only two other tables and they had 3 people working the kitchen. She was not joking. It took 45 minutes for us to get the two sandwiches we ordered. The price was decent but they were legit acting like they couldn't keep up with the demand even though the staff outnumbered the patrons.

Yelp
Super cute place to grab lunch/brunch and a few niche grocery items! Went here for a brunch date and we were not disappointed with the cinnamon roll French toast. I got a side of sausage to add some savory-ness and they went great together! Super cute spot with very friendly staff!

Yelp
I stopped by the Collective Market today for lunch. On their menu, they have a black dinosaur that designates what they can make vegan. I double-checked the dish I wanted to order and the person taking the order didn't even know that was an option. She seemed nice but confused, so I switched it to an avocado bagel, thinking that would be simple to be vegan. Nope. Came out covered in butter before the avocado. I took a couple of bites before I realized it and gave the rest to my nephew. Yes, I could have taken it back and the clerk had mentioned to just return it if it was wrong (?) but they were busy and I'd already waited too long. I usually don't leave poor reviews, I just avoid the place. But educating your staff and cooks about what is already on the menu should be a minimum. The butter has made me sick, so I'll be working through that tonight.

Wendy R.

Yelp
We had an amazing and creative breakfast. First visit to Collective Market. From the outside and the website I wasn't really sure what it was - that there was a restaurant, glad I read yelp reviews

Yelp
Collective Market is a welcome addition to downtown Hillsboro! They have a little bit of everything, ranging from local produce, meats, deli, coffee, baking supplies, and more. They also have fresh house made bagels and a deli case, not to mention a menu of lunch and breakfast items. Collective Market has fresh juices, cocktails, frozen wine slushees and soft serve sundaes. I love it! I can see us coming back for drinks or lunch and then heading over to D'Anu next door to taste some wines. I think it's very smart to combine food and drinks with a market since more people will probably buy the ready to eat stuff. The prices for the groceries range from okay to spendy but the restaurant items are pretty reasonable. Our wine slushees were $7. When we visited, they were about a half hour from closing (8pm) and the staff seemed pretty annoyed with the people who kept coming in. It would be nice if they stayed open later at least till 9pm on Tuesdays when more people are downtown for the Night Market or on Fridays for Friday Night Bites in the summer. But other than the hours, Collective Market actually seems like a fun place to grab a drink and a snack. Can't wait to go back!

Guy S.

Yelp
I haven't gotten much from this place but each time I'm impressed. Hands down one of the best bagels and cream cheese I've ever had. I believe they make both in house. The smoked veggie cream cheese actually has chunks of real veggies. The bagels are crisp and very rich with flavor. Not just a piece of bread like safeway bagels. Friendly service every time..
google avatar

Brent W.

Yelp
I've had breakfast here on three occasions. My favorite item so far is the sourdough pancakes. They also have good coffee. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The staff are very friendly. There's also a market inside with various items like house-made pasta and other Gourmet products. We always have an enjoyable and relaxing meal here. They have very good home fries as well. And the fresh fruit with the scrambled eggs was very good.
google avatar

Symone M.

Yelp
The building feels like a freaking igloo. They use fake cheese to make a freaking grilled cheese and lied and said it was cheddar. You'd think for $14.00 and being an organic place they'd have the common sense to use better ingredients. The waiter set my utensils on the bare table that was by far the most absurd thing that has ever happened to me like eww. And the table felt sticky.
google avatar

Colin B.

Yelp
When we first started coming here the food was great. Pretty much every time since then there have been a myriad of issues - long waits for food, dropped an egg from my Benedict, perpetually out of items for some of their meals. They've also not had their liquor license for 2 or 3 months so all of their delicious cocktails are now mocktails and their mimosas are, well orange juice (which is really good since it's fresh squeezed). The staff are friendly and have been apologetic at times when issues arise and the food is pretty good when they have the proper ingredients.
google avatar

Will B.

Yelp
We waited over 20 minutes for a single bagel to be toasted. It wasn't even cut into halves when we got it! Maybe its because we're from the East Coast but a bagel is quick food. If I wanted to wait that long Id go sit down somewhere. I wouldnt go to the counter of a grocery store. When we ordered our food they told us to grab a number and wait. We did. 20 minutes go by and still no bagel so we ask. Apparently they "forgot". They asked us if our order was under a different name. No one else ordered in the time span we were there. There was only 2 other tables there. It was incredibly slow. How do you forget? The bagel was "okay" but I wouldnt bother going again.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a little jealous because I have envisioned opening a place up like the Collective Market sometime in the future. Then my wife and I, we recently just moved to Hillsboro, drove past it, looked it up, and were immediately excited to see a place like this exists! Local fare, great vibe, good service, delicious food both on the shelf and from the kitchen. A mini farmers market! We're excited to sign up for some of their classes soon.
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
A restaurant shouldn't be "in the weeds" as bad as they were with 3-4 tables. It's a lovely spot and the food is good, but they really need to work out how to handle volume. We waited over an hour for two bagels. Drip coffee is pretty bad. A couple we chatted with prefers to bring their own take-out coffee from Insomnia when they brunch here. I hope this is taken constructively, because I'd like this place to stick around.
google avatar

Yelp
My previous review was removed because it was too honest, I guess. So I will stick to the facts: I hated this experience every time and it was gross. I won't be back. The prepared food is disgusting. I've been in three times and every time was worse than the one before it, so I guess third time was not a charm. I tried to give it a chance because it's local but just no. Not worth it.

Crystal H.

Yelp
As cute as this place is the service is extremely slow. I ordered a bagel sandwich with an egg that was way over cooked. The Chile Quiles is not worth ordering, they had no pork and served it with a bed of chips, onions, over cooked eggs that were not edible with a half of avocado. It should of never been severed and yet it was pushed out to be served. In the hand full of times I've come here for breakfast they do not have good cooks. It's sad to spend so much for a meal and get served bad food. There is nothing gourmet about their food. Sad to say but I won't be coming back and letting friend and family to skip this spot. My advice hire experienced cooks.

Monica N.

Yelp
I want to love this place, I really do. It's cute, they have a great menu, but they miss the mark. Service is verrrrry slow - it's not unusual for food to take 45+ minutes, and it's not unusual for orders come out wrong or missing something. Self service water, glasses, and utensils are frequently empty and not restocked unless a customer asks. Staff has zero sense of urgency and lacks good customer service.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Great bakery choices and also Vegan choices !! Service is great and very helpful Good selection of spices.

Sydney H.

Yelp
The bagels are made fresh from the store itself, making them quite delectable! Interesting and delicious options for bagels and house made cream cheeses. I highly recommend the Rosemary and Sea Salt bagel with Orange and Cranberry cream cheese, as well as the Da Bomb with Kimchi cream cheese. Yet, it is hard to pick and choose your favorites since they are all so good! Staff members are really friendly, good service. Food was prepared and served in a timely manner. Would definitely come back and order again.

Kiersten L.

Yelp
Not only is this the most wholesome farm type market in the entire Hillsboro and surrounding area, but the OWNER (or who I assume is the owner) is the most wholesome person as well! It's *hard* exploring with a toddler, but the owner made our time easy-breezy by allowing my son to play with and then take home some toy dinosaurs that were sitting on the counter. We also didn't get any funny looks when my child was snacking on the blueberries in our basket (that we were going to buy of course). Much appreciated! I will be back every time visiting this area in Oregon.

Kevin V.

Yelp
I tried collective market today. the mojo pork hash was amazing and I am definitely going back tomorrow. There aren't many fresh breakfast spots in Hillsboro and I am glad I found this gem.

Yelp
I love this place, it was such a great idea and really adds to our downtown community. It's a chill spot to pop in to and feels very welcoming. When I went in I was greeted by the loveliest and friendliest person. They chatted with me about vegan restaurants and foods in the area, helped us decide what we wanted to eat, and let us know about new vegan options coming into the market. It was a really, really good experience. The only downside is it is really meat-heavy in the products they sell, which does make me feel uncomfortable going in. However they have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free items too, we love to see it!

Rachael D.

Yelp
We have had good experiences at Collective Market. I would agree that the service was a bit slow but they are more of a bakery than a restaurant. There freshly baked Sourdough loaf and Cheddar Pepper Loaf are amazing! Also their bagels are really good - my husband got one with caraway and it was one of the best bagels I've ever had. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. I'll be back! Grateful this place is local :)

Heather M.

Yelp
No other local eatery is as fabulous!! Super impressed with this place!!! Food and customer service is on point!! Most everything is made in house and it shows!! Super home baked and amazing!

Chein K.

Yelp
The bagels are great! I will continue to stop in and buy some. I will not be dining here anymore. The menu keeps changing. First the delicious hash was served with sunny side up eggs, then it switched to these cute little over easy eggs, and now it is hard fried eggs thrown on top. No runny egg. Also, this place advertises vegan and vegetarian options. We had a friend in town this week and came in for brunch. The kitchen is open and we saw her vegan cinnamon rolls being cooked on the same grill that my bacon was being cooked. She has alpha gal and cannot have mammal products. I asked about contamination and the girl at the counter told me that the menu said the cinnamon rolls were vegan. We did not risk it and left with our items to go and went somewhere else for our meal. Sas that we left a tip only to get blown off by the person who took our order. She could have been honest when we asked.

Yelp
They have a nice selection of products and the staff is really friendly and accommodating.

Merri O.

Yelp
This is one of our all time favorite stops as a family. The atmosphere is delightful, the service is superb, the food excellent and the quality of goods is top notch. We love the neighborhood vibes of getting to pop in for soft serve ice cream or to pick up a baguette for dinner. They've got a large selection of local goods that make it easy to support our community and eat well doing it. Their brunch is fantastic-those crispy potatoes are amazing. We always feel so welcomed by the staff. The Collective Market is what Hillsboro has always needed and is no doubt an anchor for the community.

Janet B.

Yelp
This place is the best! Fresh, homemade, top quality. I've had several things from here now and everything was top notch. Today, we ordered a lunch board and my kids are chanting "five star review". They aren't wrong. This is really good food. If you stop by, everything is good, but don't skip the bagels. Some of the best ive ever had.
