"A cocktail bar with the goal of feeling like a living room at an elevated house party achieves just that. Creative cocktails abound and just as much attention is paid to non-alcoholic creations. The short wine-by-glass list is similarly thoughtful and brought to you by wine bar and bottle shop Company, which is part of the same group. Amongst all the art, knickknacks, and vibes, you’ll find a camera for selfies with friends, which bar staff later post on its camera club. The bar offers snacks, including tinned fish, but you can order from next door restaurants Friendship Kitchen (the bánh xèo and vegan wings are phenomenal), Tropicale (tostones, arepas!), and Rollin’ Fresh (sushi burritos!). By day, Collector hosts a coffee shop called Slow Haste, with seasonal beverages, like banana caramel cappuccinos, befitting the cozy, artsy space." - Anastasia Sloan

"A little over a year later, in early November 2023, the two opened Collector in the Northeast Portland restaurant complex the Ocean, transforming the former 24th and Meatballs space into a chic‑yet‑laidback lounge they describe as 'New York industrial loft meets beach cabin.' A gallery wall displays Snyder’s art and Morrow’s photos alongside knickknacks from their travels, estate sales, and thrift stores, reflecting the designers' impulse to translate graphic design into hospitality. Guero bar manager Ben Skiba composed a 10‑cocktail menu that spans spirit‑forward drinks like the Italian Jazz Club (a martini riff with sundried‑tomato and basil‑infused gin) to citrus‑forward cocktails such as the Buried Luck, made with pisco, rhubarb amaro, passionfruit, and citrus bitters. The bar emphasizes hometown pride, using Portland‑made products—the Broken Clock pairs Push x Pull cold brew with vodka, Tuaca, and Braulio; a rotating natural wine comes from Chausse Selections; there’s an Old Friend lager made by Level Beer and a rotating tap from Duality Brewing—and, since it sits next to micro‑restaurants like Friendship Kitchen and Tropicale, Collector keeps its food offerings snack‑forward (tinned fish, ice cream sandwiches) rather than full entrees.
