Collège Hôtel

Disappointing from the very start. Chose this place as they offered secure parking in the city. Car lift did not work and we were trapped. Very hot and claustrophobic and we rang the alarm bell many times to NO réponse. Very worrying. Eventually help came after we had to ring reception. I speak excellent French but it may help other visitors to have instructions in other languages.|Staff trying to be helpful but really seemed out of their depth. They explained that, due to an international event on in Lyon hotel prices were higher that weekend. £270 for one night’s stay WITHOUT breakfast seemed excessive. Didn’t know this when we booked months earlier!|Understand the hotel’s design concept but the room was shabby at its best. |The guest pre stay booking form we completed online prior to leaving the UK, they seemed to have no acknowledgement of until prompted to confirm our requested details. |We will not be returning although we visit Lyon often.

I was warmly welcomed upon arrival. I was given a parking space, which I really appreciated. Afterwards, I was kindly shown to my room. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly overall. The location of the hotel is perfect. During breakfast, Julien entertained us wonderfully and made us laugh. The breakfast itself was excellent, and Julien explained where everything was and how it was arranged. I would gladly come back anytime. Thank you, Hotel Collège!

this hotel is certainly an… unforgettable experience. it’s designed to look like a children’s boarding school which i found creepy, picture black and white photos of children staring at you everywhere. the rooms were nice but pretty tiny. it’s located in a great location but just keep in mind the creepy vibe😂

It was great stay, location clean but no refrigerator in the room. Even though the area is busy, the room was quiet. Simple room and good service as well.

loved everything from the ecofriendly concept at breakfast to the room layout, staff is lovely, location is perfect. simply no negative point, highly recommend and will be back for sure!

Excellent location in the old part of the city. This hotel does a great job of getting the basics right - ambience, cleanliness, friendly and efficient staff, nice breakfast buffet.

Room equipment is very basic and more befitting of a 2 star budget hotel, bathroom idem.||Bed was ok but 140 mtr wide and the room barely has a window||Breakfast very poor and items were not or hardly replenished

This hotel is in a great location: near the major public bus line, near a couple of squares surrounded by shopping and restaurants, short walk to the river and location of river tour boat departure point. It takes its name and theme because the hotel is near various schools and colleges, so when you walk in, the lobby looks like a comfy conversation area in a college. The breakfast room looks like a classroom. School desks line a hallway. Even the rooms look like a college dorm. But that is why this is 4-stars instead of 5. The room are clean and the decor is cute, but there simply not enough flat surfaces to put things on. No closet, but a locker instead. Best of all - the rooftop bar, which hosts a happy hour every afternoon! That should push the rating to 5-stars, I guess! It's a nice place to stay in a great location.

Great service people but very dirty room. Mould in bathroom. Food and who knows what on walls. Definitely not a four star hotel.

This was a lovely place to stay. The location was so convenient, right in Vieux Lyon and only a mile from the Fourviere Basilica. Plus, it's right next to the bus stop that will take you to the airport. The room was large and spacious, clean and beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's even free water bottles in a little fridge on each floor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

First impressions were very good, le welcome is extremly good, le room clean, the hotel is very original, it was a college before, and it's kept many objets from it's history Breakfast is very good and the breakfast room is just wonderfull The only bad news is that outside there are many bars and restaurants as its a very lively area, so it can be quite noisy, ask for hi up room, the 7th floor for instance and a room on the side or back if possible, we stayed a Saturday night maybe other nights are quieter. All in all a very nice and original hotel We will be back next time we come to Lyon

I'd expect much much more from a hotel that's 4-stars. The location offered by this hotel was nice, but that's about where it stopped! The rooms are cold, and hard feeling. Furniture is cheap (Nightstands are cinderblocks). I understand the "College" concept, but it could have been executed much better. This can't be compensated for by the free softdrinks they offer. The receptionist was very rude and didn't communicate with her other colleagues. We thought they money charged for parking was a bargain. However, we arrived just 1 hour after we'd arranged to pick up the car, and were charged for another 24 hours. We were not informed ahead of time, and they lied about the time we said we'd arrive back. They were very rude and non-negotiable about charging our credit card for the charges. I've always though French people were very friendly, but I truly think this lady didn't like us because we are American. If you want location and free soft drinks, stay here. If you value anything else, say customer service. Stay elsewhere.
