Collège Hotel (Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Its Art Deco façade is as grand and elegant as can be, but from the moment you arrive at reception, flanked by bins full of comically oversized pencils, it’s clear that the Collège Hotel intends to go all the way with its back-to-school theme. Fortunately it’s handled with charm — and, lobby aside, a sense of subtlety and proportion — and the hotel’s location, in the stunning Vieux Lyon district, is just about perfect." - Tablet Hotels

College Hotel | Best places to stay in Lyon

"In a former 1930s school, this fun, classroom-themed four-star hotel puts you smack bang in Old Lyon, within walking distance of Renaissance-era streets and the city’s famed traboules (covered passageways). Nods to the building’s past – from monumental crayons at reception to the desk dining tables in the breakfast room – fill the place. Many rooms offer stunning views over Old Lyon, the Presqu’ile and the hilltop Fourviere basilica, a mere quick funicular ride away. At night, the building’s exterior comes alive with dancing illuminations, making the terrace bar a theatrical spot for a pre-bed cocktail. " - Anna Brooke

Google
Collège Hotel has a charming, creative design and a very convenient location in Vieux Lyon, which makes it a great base for exploring the city. The reception staff are friendly and helpful, even if their English is a bit limited.|Although listed as a 4-star property, it doesn’t fully match the standard of a typical Austrian four-star hotel. The rooms have a nice atmosphere, but they can be quite noisy, as the windows don’t insulate well — the hotel even provides complimentary earplugs. The traditional key (instead of a card) adds character, though the door is a bit tricky to open and squeaks noticeably. The bathroom is simple and functional, with a similarly squeaky door.

The room was clean. The girl at the front office checked us in early, that was nice. The housekeeper accommodated us with extra comforter as I felt cold so that was kind as well. I haven’t tried their breakfast as I need a high protein meal and I wasn’t sure they had that. Hôtel definitely needs an upgrade. Everything looks and feels very dated.

The College Hotel truly is a fantastic stay. The staff were professional, friendly, and made check-in quick and easy. Our room was spotless, well-equipped, and extremely comfortable. We loved the central location for walking everywhere. Five stars—highly recommended!

Google
The Collège Hôtel was perfect for our 4-night stay in Lyon! The location is great, within an easy walk to so many fun neighborhoods and multiple metro stops. The team could not have been nicer and more accommodating and the terrace is gorgeous. The water bottle-filling station is an underrated amenity!

Google
Dreadful. They are lying about being a 4 Star hotel. It is one two Star at best. It is like Student acommodation. This is Basic, Basic, Basic. The kettle is not clean. The Iron Provided was broken. And we have been in the room for only 1.5 hours.

Google
We stayed overnight and had a great stay at the Collège Hôtel! Location Great location in Lyon near the old town. The facilities are fresh and updated and has a clear concept. Parking There is a parking solution close to the hotel but can be quite hars to get to. I'd recommend to first park outside the hotel and get directions from the staff. Service Great service and friendly staff that helped out with directions and questions

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location: near the major public bus line, near a couple of squares surrounded by shopping and restaurants, short walk to the river and location of river tour boat departure point. It takes its name and theme because the hotel is near various schools and colleges, so when you walk in, the lobby looks like a comfy conversation area in a college. The breakfast room looks like a classroom. School desks line a hallway. Even the rooms look like a college dorm. But that is why this is 4-stars instead of 5. The room are clean and the decor is cute, but there simply not enough flat surfaces to put things on. No closet, but a locker instead. Best of all - the rooftop bar, which hosts a happy hour every afternoon! That should push the rating to 5-stars, I guess! It's a nice place to stay in a great location.

Yelp
Great service people but very dirty room. Mould in bathroom. Food and who knows what on walls. Definitely not a four star hotel.

Yelp
This was a lovely place to stay. The location was so convenient, right in Vieux Lyon and only a mile from the Fourviere Basilica. Plus, it's right next to the bus stop that will take you to the airport. The room was large and spacious, clean and beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's even free water bottles in a little fridge on each floor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

Yelp
First impressions were very good, le welcome is extremly good, le room clean, the hotel is very original, it was a college before, and it's kept many objets from it's history Breakfast is very good and the breakfast room is just wonderfull The only bad news is that outside there are many bars and restaurants as its a very lively area, so it can be quite noisy, ask for hi up room, the 7th floor for instance and a room on the side or back if possible, we stayed a Saturday night maybe other nights are quieter. All in all a very nice and original hotel We will be back next time we come to Lyon

Yelp
I'd expect much much more from a hotel that's 4-stars. The location offered by this hotel was nice, but that's about where it stopped! The rooms are cold, and hard feeling. Furniture is cheap (Nightstands are cinderblocks). I understand the "College" concept, but it could have been executed much better. This can't be compensated for by the free softdrinks they offer. The receptionist was very rude and didn't communicate with her other colleagues. We thought they money charged for parking was a bargain. However, we arrived just 1 hour after we'd arranged to pick up the car, and were charged for another 24 hours. We were not informed ahead of time, and they lied about the time we said we'd arrive back. They were very rude and non-negotiable about charging our credit card for the charges. I've always though French people were very friendly, but I truly think this lady didn't like us because we are American. If you want location and free soft drinks, stay here. If you value anything else, say customer service. Stay elsewhere.
