We had stayed here before as the location is excellent and the common areas are beautifully presented, but had found our room a little lacking so went for a larger one this time. Unfortunately despite having a bit more space, we still found the room quite mean, austere and charmless. I realise the "school" theme of the hotel lends itself to a sort of "dormitory chic", but they've gone a bit too far with it for my comfort - meagre lighting, exposed cables, and a breeze-block masquerading as a night-table made it feel more like a Young Offenders Institution. Two nights was more than enough.||The breakfast is good and the dining area is charming, but the staff are a bit cool and disinterested (apart from one young guy as we were checking out, who had a bit of warmth about him.). Lyon can be a great place to stay and explore, but next time we'll go for a hotel where we can relax in our room a bit. After a long day's drive down from Northern France, we really needed something with a bit more comfort.

Has such an great stay here. Rooms were cozy but comfortable and clean. We had a room with a balcony and it had beautiful views. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Conveniently located. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The hotel's prime advantage is the location in the old town of Lyon. Near to every tourist sight, but also with good nearby communications and an onboard garage.||The garage is rather special since your car is lifted by an elevator to the garage floor. A bit narrow and tricky to park, but fully usable. 25 EUR/night.||The "school theme" is implemented throughout: interior, furniture etc. It's a little worn out - supposedly on purpose... The blackboard and chalk theme implies a lot of ... well black and white on doors, walls and furniture. If you like it - fine. If not - it's a bit dreary.||Rooms fair, albeit somewhat austere. AC present. Beds nice.|Nothing fancy, but ok overall.||Breakfast fine including fresh bakeries and even waffles.||The "main attraction" is however the large terrace built on top of the garage section. There's a bar where you can have a drink and a snack. Up there you have a view over vieux Lyon.||In view of the excellent location, the terrace, the garage and the fairly good basic standard, it must be considered as affordable.

A local friend personally recommended we stay here. Unfortunately the garage lift was broken and we’re told we’d have to park elsewhere. Fortunately, we found a nearby street spot. ||The room price had dropped considerably than what we had paid upon our reservation. This was disappointing. Our room was clean and with a comfortable bed ; however quite small and old & somewhat neglected for a 4 ⭐️ hotel. The location was convenient and luckily it rained so the late night noise ended early. ||The employees were very kind and polite.

Hotels need to supply a bed and hot and cold running water. Pretty much everything else is a bonus. On this visit therre was no hot water in the morning. Whether this is a one off or not I have no idea, but in June, in Lyon, it really isn't great! No apology and no compensation just added insult to injury.

Loved the place, a very unique atmosphere in the heart of old Lyon. The staff at the reception desk was extremely helpful and friendly and so was Julian, responsible for the dining room. Special thanks to all of them since they made the stay very comfortable. The car park is in the hotel with an elevator, luxury !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Collège Hôtel. The rooms were very comfortable, with good amenities, the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was superb. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

Nice and comfortable - lovely and friendly service from the receptionists. The sheets were not extremely soft but the towels were lovely: the yardstick to judge a hotel by, in my opinion. Really good central location too, surrounded by the old town and lots of pubs, bars, restaurants.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location: near the major public bus line, near a couple of squares surrounded by shopping and restaurants, short walk to the river and location of river tour boat departure point. It takes its name and theme because the hotel is near various schools and colleges, so when you walk in, the lobby looks like a comfy conversation area in a college. The breakfast room looks like a classroom. School desks line a hallway. Even the rooms look like a college dorm. But that is why this is 4-stars instead of 5. The room are clean and the decor is cute, but there simply not enough flat surfaces to put things on. No closet, but a locker instead. Best of all - the rooftop bar, which hosts a happy hour every afternoon! That should push the rating to 5-stars, I guess! It's a nice place to stay in a great location.

Yelp
Great service people but very dirty room. Mould in bathroom. Food and who knows what on walls. Definitely not a four star hotel.

Yelp
This was a lovely place to stay. The location was so convenient, right in Vieux Lyon and only a mile from the Fourviere Basilica. Plus, it's right next to the bus stop that will take you to the airport. The room was large and spacious, clean and beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's even free water bottles in a little fridge on each floor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come back again.

Yelp
First impressions were very good, le welcome is extremly good, le room clean, the hotel is very original, it was a college before, and it's kept many objets from it's history Breakfast is very good and the breakfast room is just wonderfull The only bad news is that outside there are many bars and restaurants as its a very lively area, so it can be quite noisy, ask for hi up room, the 7th floor for instance and a room on the side or back if possible, we stayed a Saturday night maybe other nights are quieter. All in all a very nice and original hotel We will be back next time we come to Lyon

Yelp
I'd expect much much more from a hotel that's 4-stars. The location offered by this hotel was nice, but that's about where it stopped! The rooms are cold, and hard feeling. Furniture is cheap (Nightstands are cinderblocks). I understand the "College" concept, but it could have been executed much better. This can't be compensated for by the free softdrinks they offer. The receptionist was very rude and didn't communicate with her other colleagues. We thought they money charged for parking was a bargain. However, we arrived just 1 hour after we'd arranged to pick up the car, and were charged for another 24 hours. We were not informed ahead of time, and they lied about the time we said we'd arrive back. They were very rude and non-negotiable about charging our credit card for the charges. I've always though French people were very friendly, but I truly think this lady didn't like us because we are American. If you want location and free soft drinks, stay here. If you value anything else, say customer service. Stay elsewhere.
