"This late-night favorite caters to college students (and their budgets) at nearby University of Maryland. The famous weekday special — two eggs, two pancakes, and two strips of bacon — is only $6.95. Open for dine-in and takeout daily from 6 a.m. to midnight (and 2 a.m. from Thursday to Saturday)." - Tierney Plumb, Tim Ebner

The lady who greeted me was so nice she reminded me of the nice auntie that we love to be around. I was sat immediately and she recommended the French toast over the pancakes which is the reason I came in for the FT so that was perfect. The whole meal was good, French Toast with the powder sugar, crispy bacon, eggs and hash browns with a an OJ. Smashed all the good it was the perfect portions. Also the menu prices were pocket friendly. Now a days pocket friendly means poor quality, but not at this diner. I would most definitely return in the future.

Google
Great diner feel! Service: awesome! Our waitress was very nice and super attentive. Everyone there was nice. Food: comes fast and was very good. I had the creamed chipped beef. I thinner cream sauce, but good. My wife had a veggie omelet. Very good as well Definitely recommend

Google
Extremely long wait to be seated. The wait staff was pleasant and the food was good.

Google
I was looking for the "Breakfast Diner" experience. Not a fast food chain or franchise. College Park Diner nailed it. Service was good, I felt like I had two waitresses. The food hit the spot. I had French Toast, Sausage & Hashbrowns. The seating is a little small at the booths, if you are a larger person like me. I will be going back again. Thank you.

Google
This is a very nice breakfast spot. The food is delicious and the service is great! Kept very clean! That’s always a plus for me. Check them out!

Google
I ordered the two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. The two eggs were good. The bacon was good. The hash browns were undercooked. They weren't brown and the toast wasn't toasted. But other than that the service was great. Nice people. Pretty good atmosphere. Clean environment and the prices were fair. I'd go back and give it another try.

Google
Decent food at a good price. Nice workers, but they seemed a bit slammed even though the place is small. The biggest issue I had was the decor looks like no maintenance has been done in well over a decade.

Claire S.

Yelp
While the special advertised was not entirely accurate - available only Monday through Friday - our Saturday visit still offered a delightful dining experience. The portion sizes were generous, leaving us very satisfied at the end of our meal with a little extra to spare. Despite the misunderstanding about the special, the prices remained reasonable, and the servers were genuinely friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was cozy, albeit quite busy and crowded. Seating took around a 15 minute wait during peak hours, but the staff are incredibly efficient

Yelp
Was recently at one of the car dealerships down the street for service. Decided, with the long wait, to walk over to this diner. It is nice that they have many employees working here and all were friendly. The food though was lackluster. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a gourmet breakfast, but everything was bland with little to no seasoning. They have limited seating, as it is a small building. I was able to immediately sit at the counter, but there were people wanting for at least 15 minutes or so for a table while I was there during the late breakfast rush., I later discovered there is an IHOP down the street, so you may want to give it a shot if wanting breakfast. I won't totally rule out trying this place in a future, as I may give their lunch items a try.

Kate F.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 stars. Old school diner w no frills. I was a bit worried when we walked in, there was no music, and about four waiters sitting at tables, and nobody in the place. I quickly opened my Yelp app to make sure I got to the right place. We ordered breakfast for dinner and it was good. Nothing special to write home about, but it was solid. Would I go back? Probably not. But it was the perfect mother son date place before we saw a concert.

Matthew H.

Yelp
Great local space. Quaint sitting area, lots of widows. Very, very quick service, even for an omelet. Food was average. No Vegan options, but was expecting any.

Adam H.

Yelp
Last two times I've come here late night they've been closed. First time October 23rd showed up around 11-11:15 and there was a sign on the door saying that they were closed even though there were still people eating inside. Tonight I just tried to call around 11:05 for a takeout order, phone rang a bunch, nobody picked up. I drove past the diner and saw that there are people in there so I stopped to place it to-go order in person. The moment I open in the door a young lady loudly says "sorry sir, we're closed tonight!" It's Saturday and you advertise a 24 hour diner on Google but every time I show up I'm turned away. Sitting In the parking lot writing this review because I'm pissed off and hungry. The people inside eating and wondering why I was refused service for the second time in 2 weeks

Joel A.

Yelp
It is what it is, a small diner with no pretense. Clean and had a full parking lot for a early afternoon. Cook right in front of you like they do in that chain of diners in the south. Service was adequate considering only 2 waiters. I just had coffee but l will include the significant other's impression. She ordered eggs and scrapple with cheese grits. She is a self proclaimed expert on the grits, so it will be interesting to see. Grits came without cheese but the scrapple was right. Eggs were as ordered all in all not too bad at all will come again for a late breakfast if in the area.

Carly R.

Yelp
I will be a regular from now on, cause I go to school nearby and in the coming semester I'll be doing night classes, so this is a spot for quick eats. I came in on a relaxing Wednesday around 12:30pm. It's not crowded but I'd say 75% of the tables are full. Many couples or families here. I came by myself and it was easy to park and get inside. The staff was nice and efficient! She was busy with multiple tables but she still gave me my menu and order within 5 mins of me sitting near the bar. My breakfast platter came within 5 mins as well. Watching the lady cooking up the storm by herself with 3-4 tickets on the ticket roller non stop is amazing! She's so fast and efficient, I didn't even know she already finished cooking my order and it's right in front of me! The breakfast is actually surprisingly good. I know it's dinner food, which means it's fast and junky... But how she cooked the eggs with real gas fire, and no added salt to it, it's really good! I did put some pepper and salt afterward myself but I prefer a diner that doesn't over season their food. It actually reminds me the old style McD breakfast platter! (Larger in size, better in taste. Not the ones in McD now) That harsh brown was so crispy but tender, not salted as well! It might be personal preference here, but I love how she made it! Coffee is typical diner coffee, but on a good side. Some diner gives you really really bad bitter coffee, but heres somewhat decent. I am a barista myself and have very special requests with my coffee...so I can't judge it too much. All I'm saying is, it's not as bad as some and does have a tiny fruity sweetness to it! All in all this is a really good, fast, efficient, nice diner! No attitude and no annoying policy. (like you have to have 4 people to seat at the table, or you'll have to order $10/person bs. I've seen some places guys.) For open 24 hours and being so nice and fast? I'll come her more often! Esp if I have a class at night, I need to grab some food fast, this will be a good place! I love diners (maybe cause I'm a foreigner so this is a very American thing to do to me?), So I hope this diner can go on for another 50 years! I recommend this if you are an old school diner lover like me!

Johnny B.

Yelp
A true old school diner with great food and service. The waitresses we had truly cared about customer service and making our late night dinner a most pleasurable experience. In fact, my girlfriend had a minor injury earlier that was starting to hurt and when we asked for a small ice pack, we got a bag with more than enough cubes to sooth things. I hope the owner reads this because he/she should be proud of their staff. We will definitely return.

Shenique B.

Yelp
Was looking for a new breakfast spot to try one morning and found College Park diner. It was new to me but, based on the patrons when we were leaving, it is well-known in the area. When you enter, you seat yourself. It was our first time so the employees gently informed us. The location is cozy and the customer service was great. The food is typical diner food so no surprises for me. I had the french toast with bacon and hot chocolate. Everything tasted good. I'll be back one day for another cheat-meal breakfast.

Drew F.

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting from out of town (Hawaii), and we love diners and were looking for a late breakfast after hitting Costco. We were pleasantly surprised to find this little diner - literally, it's pretty small! But it was busy for even that time of day. I grew up in Baltimore eating chipped beef over biscuits and was thrilled to see it on the menu, and it didn't disappoint, brought back many wonderful memories. My wife had the steak 'n eggs and loved it. Cheap eats! Nice comfort food!

Matt F.

Yelp
I thought the food and service were great. Here's my full review: https://travelmystery.blogspot.com/2016/08/college-park-diner.html

Tim P.

Yelp
Sorry to say but this place has seen it's better days. Definitely needs a remodel. The food was fair at best and service as well. Love the style of the restaurant but from the parking lot to the bathrooms, it's a little dated.

Sherelle H.

Yelp
Judging from the outside of this place, you wouldn't think it was good. But honey let me tellll yoouuuu, this place surprised us!! It's a busy spot and I get it! The customer service was wonderful and the food was even better. Everything was so fresh and made to order. There were no long waits for the food which is awesome when you're starving. The inside isn't large at all, but they make it work. They only have table sizes of 2 and 4, so if you do come with larger party, you'll be split up. I recommend their pancakes, grits and hot smoked sausage! While in Maryland, we visited twice and almost came for a 3rd visit. Lol!

Robbie G.

Yelp
My sister and I ate a late lunch at the College Park Diner Saturday. We decided on breakfast and we were quite pleased with our choice. The diner (it has booths and a counter) could use some TLC but aside from a renovation which I know is a big endeavor, I would suggest that they replace old menus. The one I had was torn and stained which almost put me off eating. However, the rest was good news... the staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and directed us to choose a seat. Our server, Mia, was polite and attentive. We ordered French roast with eggs and bacon and pancakes with bacon. The food came out promptly and hot!! Unfortunately these days, hot food gets you 70% of the way there for me but fortunately the food was also really good. The eggs were actually scrambled soft with cheese as I'd asked and the pancakes and French toast tasted great even without the syrup. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Ms. R.

Yelp
This diner has the best open faced sandwich. I had the roast beef and my boyfriend had the turkey. The service could be better but the food made up for it. The cost of the food was reasonable too. We have been back since the first time we went and it was still amazing. +

Mike P.

Yelp
A College Park Icon! Traditional diner grub serving up heaps of comfort food. If you come late morning you can get a spot right away, just get in between breakfast and lunch. I had a craving for cream chipped beef on toast-AKA-SOS. Fortunately this specialty is on the menu and labeled as legendary. I didn't see any photos of SOS here on Yelp so I came here on a mission to fill in the gap here. I must say the creamed chipped beef was rather average so that's my opinion. Check out the photo for yourself and make up your own mind if it's appetizing. I will say I really enjoyed the hash browns on the side.

Kristina S.

Yelp
Amazing food, service and cleanliness. My new favorite spot in Maryland, we just moved from Texas. My only complaint is the Country Fried Steak, not a real meat patty. Aside from that, my fav is the Humpty Dumpty Omelette.

Taylor T.

Yelp
I love historic places like this that continue to serve the community. My visit here was truly awesome. I swung by for a quick breakfast before heading to a museum. There was a short line, and the friendly waitstaff (who were juggling multiple tasks) warmly welcomed me. They promptly seated me at a spotless table and fulfilled all my requests. The food was quite tasty and it gave me some Waffle House nostalgia. We never have diners like that in PG county. Overall, it was an immensely enjoyable experience, and I want to give a shout-out to the manager for handling the busy crowd with impressive professionalism. From a managerial standpoint, it was truly commendable.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Good double burger with bacon and no bun. Not greasy at all and fast service even though I arrived at noon exactly. They serve breakfast all day and it is full of people. Ambiance is nice, above the grill is a collection of bills from around the world. The waitress was a little slow on refilling my drink but I could have been better at making eye contact instead of writing this review.

Barkley A.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible thought with the cars and people In and out place should be good . Was terrible service the teens and kid's prepping food are terrible! There is one maybe two adults over 40 All they do is greet people . Won't be back Absolute terrible service!

Joan L.

Yelp
Always love a good diner. College Park Diner is located very close to University of MD. It's pretty small so I am sure it gets packed at times. 17 year old and I ordered omelets and they were perfect. Our food came quickly. My coffee was refilled several times. I enjoyed watching ye female short order cook behind the counter do her thing. Not much else I could ask for in a diner, except maybe oatmeal on the menu?

Marc M.

Yelp
Simple fare, simply done, nothing but wonderful. Limited experience to one fast morning. Unfortunate bun warmers to bake their coffee, but the reflux I expected was absent, and the coffee was fine. I had a simple turkey sausage sandwich, my wife had the grandma's favorite. The hash browns had sone oil on them, as they should be IMHO, but not more than I expect, no real oil flavor, w/ lightly crispy edges. I prefer them a bit more well done, amd feel confident if I ever return, they would acquit tharlt request admirably. The turkey sausage (I don't do pork) were links that had lightly dried ends, but held enough moisture and enough sage-tly flavors. Being right on Rt. 1 might cause some problems with traffic, but this old building has a young staff that can do the Diner concept proud.

Jah L.

Yelp
The food is Greatttt! The Customer Service is Wonderfulllll. This is my go-to spot when I don't feel like cooking. Been going for years. They can use a face-lift. But if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Stacey W.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. The food is food. I loved the burger. At first I was like these are so small but it was the perfect portion with fries in my opinion. I still wouldn't mind a little bigger size lol, but they were so delicious & cooked perfectly. The breakfast was good as well. I only visited this location twice and can say the service was alot better than IHOP that's a few blocks away.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
I thought I'll stop by today and order a chicken tender meal off the kids menu for my son . Luckily I paid attention to the food before feeding it to my son . the outside was almost over cooked and the inside was still raw throughout the meat. Never again will I eat here that is so nasty .How could you serve people under cooked food . I should've known better when I saw a roaches on the floor after waiting 22min for a take out meal that I ordered over the phone .Every tender was under cooked smh

Sandy H.

Yelp
This was an amazing breakfast. The service was great and everything about the food was perfect. I would definitely go back.

Andre H.

Yelp
I ordered the French Toast with bacon and eggs and they did not disappoint. The French toast was on point. Definitely will revisit next time I'm in the DMV.

Jessica A.

Yelp
How can you not love this diner. I've been coming here for years, and I don't think the food has ever been sub-par or of low quality. It's your typical diner where the kitchen is not closed off, so you can see the chef cooking your food. I probably get the same variation of food every time I visit, but I love breakfast food so I'll always choose a meal that includes eggs and hash browns. I got the French toast platter which is topped with powdered sugar, and I substituted the meat with the hash browns, and I also got my eggs scrambled with cheese. It's such a filling meal for a reasonable price! The staff is always friendly, and service tends to be quick except during your typical brunch hours. So go on a less busy day and time and not on weekend mornings because you might be waiting a bit longer.

Sarah C.

Yelp
I went here on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. First of all there's limited parking so you'll have to park in another lot and walk over. Also when you walk in there's two lines. One is for takeout where you just order the food right at the register. The other line is for dine in. And you just sign a yellow legal pad with your name and wait for a table to open up. We got seated maybe 15 mins after we got there. I ordered the French toast with eggs, bacon, and a side of hashbrowns. The French toast was really good but the eggs were not seasoned at all and the hashbrowns were a little underdone and under seasoned. The only plus was we got our food really fast after being seated. Overall it wasn't bad if you're craving diner food but not sure if I would come here again.

Tyler R.

Yelp
I went into the place this morning in the early hours. Wasn't packed which was good for my time there around 6:40 am lol. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and boy, was it delicious! I've been here a while back and remember how good the food is. Benefit of the doubt was going there before it usually gets crowded, as most others have commentated. I know that I'll be coming back to this place again, especially early before school begins at UMD. Wonderful, hardworking staff attending there!!!

Dawn M.

Yelp
Super fast service. You spend more time deciding what you want vs getting what you ordered. Staff is very nice too. I come here every time I'm in town.

Marcela G.

Yelp
My favorite spot since I was in high school 2005. Great customer service, friendly servers, the food comes out fast and always tasty. Fresh coffee all the time. The wait is a little long sometimes but it's worth it.

Jin D.

Yelp
I don't remember a worse meal in my life . It makes Waffle House look like Ruth Chris .

K V.

Yelp
Excellent gem in College Park for just an old school regular breakfast. They have excellent customer service.

Cecilia E.

Yelp
love this place, friendly service, they can get really busy so it may take longer sometimes but still good overall, better than going to a ih*p or something. truly a classic diner!

Mykal H.

Yelp
Happy environment every time I come is this place! I've been coming here for about 5 years and have never had a bad experience...food is pretty damn good too! Service is always on point! Keep up the great work!

Tony K.

Yelp
Went here with some friends. It's probably one of the busiest restaurants in town on a Saturday morning, but for good reason. We did have to wait a half hour after putting my name down but I was determined to try this diner. I got the corned beef hash platter with two eggs over easy, home fries and toast. They have huge portions and you absolutely get your moneys worth. I noticed how many vegetables they managed to stuff in my friend's omelette and it looked beautiful. The coffee was good too, average diner coffee. Great place to break bread with some friends.. I'd definitely come back for breakfast and perhaps even dinner.

Siska N.

Yelp
Typical diner hole in the wall with awesome foods. The place always packed, you can get your own table unless when it's full, then you kind of have to put your name. Servers are incredibly fast, efficient and friendly. Food comes hot and made to order, and the price is reasonable. The portion is big, parking is small and this is close to UMD, so there's always mix of crowds. Highly recommended for quick old style diner breakfast.

Greg H.

Yelp
Great food and customer service! The customer service is great and it's very comfy and a cozy environment at any time of the day.

Rodrigo R.

Yelp
Love this jaunt! If ur looking for a nice home cooked meal vibe in the college park area look no further than cp diner! Ordered the spicy sausage entree and french toast and was very pleased. I imagine their other menu items would have met my standards as well. looking forward to visiting this location on many future occasions

John W.

Yelp
Best place to eat late in College Park , diner is traditional breakfast. Made fast - best AFTER THE CLUB eatery in College Park.

Nessa R.

Yelp
Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Yum. Cute little diner near U of M. They have everything you can think of, it's a diner, eggs, bacon, hash browns. Pancakes. You know the whole enchilada. Well, not an enchilada but you know what I mean. The best diner around this area, there are not any diners in this area which makes this place always stay packed. You can get on the waiting list and if you want to skip the crowds come early. Over all, good food, not crazy expensive and yummy. Only qualm is that every one and their mama, literally, comes here. Guilty!!! Of being a mama and coming here!

Abby W.

Yelp
This is one of the only classic, non-chain diners in the area anymore. There is usually a wait when you go on a weekend morning, but it's worth it for the delicious breakfast food. Because of the long wait, sometimes the service is slow, but the vibe is relaxed anyway, with no need for a rush. The food is classic American breakfast, with other options as well (I've only ever ordered breakfast). I love their eggs and waffles.

Sasha P.

Yelp
Amazing little spot we came across during our stay in Maryland. Women run, little wait, SUPER fast service, and amazing food. I got French toast with eggs and bacon and my partner got the Big B. We ate so quickly we forgot pictures and completely cleaned our plates. Everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the French toast. One of the best I've ever had.

Emoni S.

Yelp
My co-workers and I came here for a quick bite to eat, and that's exactly what that was. I ordered a burger which didn't come with the pickles I asked for but the meal was still pretty decent. I didn't like the fries at all so I just ate my burger and was satisfied. My co-workers ordered an omelet, French toast, and hot chocolate. The service was fast because it was around lunch time and it was not crowded at all. It wasn't anything to die for, but it served the purpose for diner food. The best part was when it was time to pay it wasn't a hassle because we all paid separately and it was quick and easy. This was a great spot for if you want something quick but not fast food with a small group.

Alana M.

Yelp
I've ordered carry out from this place many times. Even on they're best day the food isn't great. It's just good enough to eat when you want to cure a hangover and I always liked that I didn't have to wait too long for my food. It's just reliable. The last couple times however the food has been barely edible. I can't believe I paid about $17 for a vegetable omelet with cheese and a side of turkey sausage only for it to be absolutely gross. The home fries that come with it had so much burnt, hardened pieces that it was difficult to pick it out. The omelette was just a mountain of cheese inside. Even the biscuit was as hard as a hockey puck. To make matters worse I waited about 30 minutes for the food, much longer than normal.

Yvette W.

Yelp
Hubs and I have a 3 visit rule. Today was our 3rd and we've found our new diner. We've visited on a weekday and during the early afternoon so maybe others are having a different experience other days/times. The service has always been friendly and quick. The coffee is decent. No greasy film floating on top like some other diners. The food ,always breakfast, was good. 6oz steak actually cooked MEDIUM as I asked. Cheddar eggs scrambled medium as I asked. Home fries were perfect for us. Love the grilled biscuit. Nice touch. My Husband enjoyed his fresh hot crispy waffle. Sausage patties were yumm. Bacon was baconing! I've seen the grits...I'll pass. I asked to taste the white gravy...pass. The corned beef hash is from a can but I still liked it. We're coming back for burgers and fries next time. Saw a lot of that coming out of the kitchen. I also like that when it's slow they close down a side and clean. They clean the entire diner including bathrooms mid-day. It's old. It's outdated BUT it's a DINER. That's part of the character. I like this spot

Ms. E.

Yelp
This Diner needs to be remode! plus the Spanish waiters don't listen when you tell them how you want your food cooked! Then Get mad when u ask them to make it over! smh! Food ok but not all that

Van Anh N.

Yelp
Good food. 24/7. Good service I've come here a couple of times now with friends really late at night. Ihop is my go to for some late night after drinking breakfast food, but we decided to try college park diner bc the ihop in CP is highkey bad LOL :(. Anyway I went one time after a concert at like 11pm and another time after a party at 4am. There weren't a lot of people there, but one time there was a young family with a wide awake baby LOL so I guess this is the place for everyone at any time??? Anyway good service and good food. We were able to fit 6 people at a tiny booth and they let us pull over a chair on the side. -- I've only gotten the Omelettes and they're all really good. Hash browns are really good too. You can really tell the food is home made. It's good. I recommend CP diner over ihop!!! ;0000 -- My friend tried the country fried steak and it was really good too!!!!

Pieter B.

Yelp
Service was GREAT and it was only 06:05 in the morning. I was greeted with a smile and the server was very friendly, felt like i was having breakfast at home with my family. I will definitely recommend it to anyone, prices are decent and food is really good. Only reason why its a 4star, when i order a hash brown, i expect a fairly sized fried potato cake, not a plate full of grated potatoes (overwhelmed not discussed). Over all great experience.
