Colombo Kitchen Putney - Hopper and Kottu Bar

Literally the best Sri Lankan food I’ve had in London - brought back childhood memories of one of my best mate’s mum cooking. We had a cocktail each, followed by the mixed starters plate (absolutely fabulous esp the vadai, fish cutlet & mutton spring roll), then we had both the plain & egg hopper followed by rice with mutton curry & blackened fish (I believe this was grilled mackerel) - wow, fabulous cooking! We also had the palm sugar cheese cake, which was so lovely (not too sweet & was just perfect). We got the privilege to meet Chef Sylvia who was so humble & lovely. Our waiter Kesh was perfect & super helpful & friendly. We loved everything here & would definitely return with friends !

Two of us visited this authentic Sri Lankan place to refresh our taste buds. One of the reason I visited this place is specially to taste the Lamprais and I have to admit it’s the best Lamprais I have ever tasted in UK. For drinks we ordered two mocktails (Classic virgin mojito and Colombo Sunrise). We started with their sharing platter (non-veg) which was nicely presented with most popular Sri Lankan savoury snacks. For the mains we ordered Fish Lamprais and Seafood Kottu. We were desperate to try Watalappan but was too full after the mains. Food is really delicious, very well presented, really enjoyed each and every bit of the Lamprais wrapped with warm banana leaf. Staff is really friendly and nice. Colombo Kitchen is a hidden gem in East Putney serves best Sri Lanka cuisines. I would highly recommend this place and will visit again!!!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Colombo Kitchen Putney – Hopper & Kottu Bar! The food was truly the best Sri Lankan cuisine I’ve ever had in London — authentic flavours, fresh ingredients and every dish tasted incredible. A special shout-out to Kesara and Kanishka, who provided exceptional service throughout the evening. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming — they made the whole experience even better. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would… and maybe even donate my taste buds to science so they can study what just happened. We recently visited Colombo Kitchen in Putney, and honestly — what a ride. The evening started with a mutton roll so crisp and juicy, I briefly considered proposing to it. Then came the veg crispy curry puff, which was so good I had to fight my partner for the last bite… (we’re still together, but it was touch and go for a moment). And then… THE MOMENT. The live kottu. Hands down the best we’ve ever had. The chef chopping away like a Sri Lankan DJ — that rhythm, that aroma… I nearly clapped like I was at a concert. The fish curry tasted like it had been simmering with love and life advice. The veg lamprais wrapped us in so much comfort, it should come with a duvet warning. Cocktails? Let’s just say they were smooth enough to make us believe we can dance. (We can’t. But they gave us confidence.) And the grand finale: The jaggery cheesecake. If happiness had a flavour, this would be it. I’m still thinking about it. I may have dreamed about it. No shame. On top of all this, the service was exceptional — warm, friendly, and the kind that makes you feel like you’ve walked into someone’s home rather than a restaurant. In short: If you’re in Putney and you don’t go to Colombo Kitchen, you’ve made a life decision I cannot support. We’ll definitely be back… probably too often

The curries were absolutely delicious — rich, aromatic, and full of authentic Sri Lankan flavour. Both the king prawn and pork curries were beautifully cooked and perfectly spiced, with generous portions and great depth of flavour. Friendly service and a cosy atmosphere made the meal even better. Highly recommended!

Colombo Kitchen is the best Sri Lankan restaurant in London that I’ve ever tried. The food is absolutely amazing. Full of authentic flavours, beautifully cooked, and always fresh. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Every visit feels special. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Sri Lankan cuisine.

Outstanding Sri Lankan Dining Experience! I visited Colombo Kitchen in Putney with two friends and had an excellent experience from start to finish. Being Sri Lankan myself, I can confidently say the food was truly authentic and genuinely felt like a taste of home. We ordered the seafood fried rice, chicken biryani, and the iconic lamprais, and every dish was packed with flavour, cooked perfectly, and beautifully presented. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into the authenticity and quality of the food. For dessert, we tried the kithul cheesecake, which was a real standout and something quite unique. If you are looking to try something a bit different and out of the box, I would highly recommend it, as it is not something you will find everywhere. One of my friends also had the Marie biscuits with condensed milk, paired with Sri Lankan coffee, which was a lovely and comforting way to end the meal. A special shout out to Dinuka, who looked after us during our visit. His customer service was exceptional, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which really elevated the whole experience. Credit also to all the staff and waiters for their professionalism and warm hospitality. The restaurant itself was very clean, hygienic, and well maintained, which added to the overall positive experience. Overall, I honestly could not recommend Colombo Kitchen enough. 100 out of 100 for food, service, and atmosphere. If you are in Putney and craving authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!! 🇱🇰🍽️

I took the Uber Boat all the way to Putney to check out this hidden gem. Denu welcomed me right at the door and invited me in—coincidentally, that was exactly where I was headed. I was promptly seated downstairs by the window, where the ambience was warm and relaxed. The server was exceptionally attentive, offering food and drink suggestions that matched my preferences perfectly. I had my eye on the mutton Lamprais, but since it’s only served on weekends, he suggested the mutton kottu instead. Absolutely delicious (opt for mild if you’re not big on spice). The lychee sangria cocktail was the perfect finishing touch to an already wonderful lunch. All in all, a fantastic meal in a charming spot.
