Why Temescal Neighbors Are Pissed at Popular East Bay Natural Wine Bar and Restaurant Snail Bar | Eater SF

"A family-run Italian deli with outposts in Pacifica and Redwood City, Colombo’s Delicatessen will open at 1 South Park Avenue, Suite 103A near Oracle Park and plans to launch with online sandwich sales this fall before celebrating an official opening in early 2024." - Lauren Saria

Google
Zac, deli staff and sandwich makers keep this deli at the top of the list. Breakfast and lunch menu's are awesome. Italian foods and wines are amazing.

Google
I was really disappointed with the sandwich I ordered. The roast beef was completely undercooked and looked almost raw—not safe or appetizing. As you can see in the photo, it was just thrown on top, barely resembling a finished sandwich. On top of that, the ingredients were carelessly stacked, and the bread was already falling apart. I expected something fresh and well-prepared, but this felt more like leftovers thrown together. I ended up not eating most of it. Definitely not worth the price, and I won’t be coming back.

*updated Google says they are open but they are not open today Monday aug 12.can you guys or google update your hours accurately ? We ordered 3 Togo and they are delicious. 2 BYO(roast beef Swiss on sweet French roll ) and (turkey mozzarella on focaccia )and 1 Tuscan on slice sourdough.:) Been coming for long time . I luv the fresh breads. A small word of polite advice to help others when ordering if they don't know what to get , label what sandwich it is your posting , a lot of people ask what is what based on pics and I have no idea either lol ;). So today I labeled the pictures hope it helps someone decided on what to get .

Google
I love their sandwiches. I love how I can order through their website and go pick it up especially how busy it gets. I love the selection of Italian condiments and pastas and tomato sauces and calabrese pepper spreads. I picked up a pint of Fiorellos Tony Spumani and it was deli-cious. They have frozen Gnocchi and raviolis in their freezer and their Deli case is so drool worthy. I always pick up some mixed olives and calamari salad. Check Groupon for cash back offer if you haven't already. Love this sandwich (and more) shop!

Google
Gone downhill over the years, use to be a great place. phone call order with explicit instructions to be light with mayo and mustard. Picked up a 17.50 sandwich which is crazy and didn't realize until we got home that they put extra mayo and now have a soggy worthless meal

Google
We got two sandwiches for lunch. This is an Italian deli which does about as good a job as your going to get on the west coast. Sandwich selection is really good. I like the godfather. The “Boston grinder” is a really fun option except it is supposed to be made with oil and vinegar not mayo. Sometimes the Italian rolls are a little too crusty. The imported Italian groceries or deli items are nice and give you some shopping time while waiting for your sandwich.

Carrie R.

Google
Sandwiches are huge for the price, it was nice being able to save the second half and eat it later in the day. The staff are focused and respectful. It is a solid sandwich joint with chips on the side (paid separately).

J W.

Google
Ask for taste of chicken salad, it was spoiled. The cashier was very apologetic. Ordered two sandwiches a hot & cold. The meat on hot tasted funny & was told the cold was just ok. Paying $38.75 for two sandwiches and throwing more than half of each away was a total waste of money. So disappointed in this place.

Yelp
This is an update to my previous review. I am a believer that if there was something bad happening, and an issue has been moved in a positive direction, we should express that. The business has been doing MUCH BETTER!!! The store seems more hopeful, which I appreciate. I've been going here for 30 years, and I was sad to see the direction it was going in. If you live in or are in Pacifica, hit up Colombo's. You will not be disappointed! Good job, Colombo. Cuz while I love Woodside, nobody is trying to drive allllllllllllll the way to RWC.

Yelp
Don't give up!!! Though you can see some of the struggles, they are a long standing institution in Pacifica, and need your support. And the sandwiches are still great! Please contribute to your local businesses. Otherwise big corporate will take over.

Yelp
Got some steak sandwiches at $19 each, but it is not the same as before. The steak filling was quite tasty though some bits were just too chewy. I don't know what happened to their Dutch crunch bread, but it was dry and powdery (we got 2 and this Dutch crunch bread was not it), however the sourdough bread was still good. I went back and looked at my previous review and i'm no longer able to vouch for their steak sandwiches.

Yelp
Colombo's have been on our list for a while so we were excited to try on our free Sunday afternoon. Excellent sandwich, wonderful and friendly customer service. Great location with easy parking. Lots of seating inside and a great selection of chips and sodas. I had the Hobb's Gobbler and my partner had the Godfather. The only reason I'm giving this sandwich spot a 4/5 stars is for the pricing point. Fresh ingredients and delicious bread that really stands out like Colombo's are hard to come by so I get why their prices are slightly higher than other spots. Because of this, I'd come here once in a while as a treat and recommend friends and family to come too.

Cheryl J.

Yelp
Delish! Amazing sammies....huge portions. Homemade potato salad was great too! Nice selection of Italian groceries too.

Yelp
Wow this is the 3rd time I've ordered again from Colombo's and Bravo!!!! The sandwich was plentiful and fresh! The turkey is back and on point!!! I'm in heaven!! So happy. Going back to my Turkey Cheddar sandwiches once a week! Thank u.

Yelp
I'm really sad to have to write this review, but I have to say, I have never in my life seen a business fall as hard as Colombo's has in the last 20 years. This deli is a shell of its former self. There are no longer grocery items, Italian imports, or freshly made Italian specialties. There is no energy or excitement. Nothing. The deli is basically 90% empty and it is extremely dirty. It's creepy actually and very uncomfortable. Ohhh Colombo's what a sad state you are in my old friend. Now to the Sandwiches. Wow, they were so bad I could only eat half of one before tossing the 2nd half to my dog. The bread was stale and literally breaking apart, as if it were made from one gigantic crouton. This bread was likely 4-5 days old, extremely dry, and falling apart b/c it was so brittle and stale. It was 100% not edible, and if I hadn't driven home 20 miles after purchasing it, I would have returned it. The portion size of the meat has come down by around 60-70% of what it used to be. These were large, robust subs for many, many years, and now they're skimpy and embarrassing looking sandwiches served on 5-day old bread that should more appropriately be used for making croutons. The meats are still passable, but the entire sandwich experience was so weak, there is literally no reason to ever return to this establishment. It's a shame b/c I am a multi-decade regular. Also, I wouldn't even think about getting any of the salad items in the deli case, they all looked old, definitely not fresh, and very unsanitary. COLOMBO'S - If you are going out of business, just close your doors and move. Don't raise prices and fleece your customers on the way out the door. That's lame.

Timothy S.

Yelp
I mean just don't use their computer system to order? I guess I may have made a mistake. I just wanted their godfather sandwich as is with extra banana peppers (I paid for extra) . I received the meat that should be included w artichokes, the base amount of banana peppers which should be included w the sandwich, no cheese (their system was charging for any cheese, I thought I would get what was listed at least!), there is mayo and mustard all over it, it is only suppose to have oil and vinegar per their board. I don't know wtf I got but it is not what I wanted at all. will not go back

Yelp
This place is in an old neighborhood, but has a steady flow of customers coming in and out most of them was raving about the sandwiches. There was music playing so the ambience was it at home feeling. the cashier was very friendly. We ordered just so that we could share. I ordered the clubhouse which was on crunchy bread and it was really good. We also ordered the Godfather. The bread was a little hard, but that was the type of bread it was. It had excellent flavor so I wished I could've combined the of the Godfather with the bread of the clubhouse, overall this was a good experience

Yelp
My husband and I love this deli for delicious sandwiches when coming to Pacifica. I have a soft spot for a traditional Italian style deli like this one. They have a fairly no frills counter style approach but have great speciality and more basic "build it yourself" sandwich options with various meat and veggie options, beyond just the typical lettuce tomato onion, you can add avocado, artichoke, etc, as well as an array of meats and cheese. You can get hot or cold sandwiches on their freshly baked bread. One thing I would recommend is calling ahead or ordering online because on a weekend around lunch time they can get a little busy and the wait for a sandwich can be 10-15 mins or longer.
google avatar

Sophia D.

Yelp
The bread makes the sandwich and the homemade bread here is delicious!! I got the sourdough and it's crispy on the outside (without hurting the roof of you mouth) while soft and fluffy on the inside. It also did not get soggy at all and held the ingredients really well. We ordered a toasted pastrami sandwich with provolone, lettuce, jalapenos, onions, pepperoncini, mayo, garlic sauce, and mustard. I loved how they use a fattier cut of pastrami here, it was juicy and wasn't dry at all. The sandwich came out to $20 after tax and tip, definitely pretty pricey for a sandwich. It was also on the smaller side compared to other deli spots. It's busy here but they're pretty fast and efficient. There was ~5 parties in line ahead of me and I was in & out in 15 minutes. There's 2 tables inside if you want to enjoy your sandwich in the deli!

Yelp
Came with a friend to try to watch some whale (none) so we thought we'd stop off and get a sandwich. There was no signage so we couldn't find it at first and had to call to make sure they were still open. There are some empty fridges in the place so either they are re-stocking or not as busy as they used to be. Everyone was friendly but the place is pretty empty. Most people had sandwiches to go even though there are a few tables to have a sandwich there. Ordered a roast beef on sourdough with everything but cheese on it and even though the bread was fresh and had a nice crunch, there was nothing special about the sandwich. Sorry, but I don't think I'll be going back.

Yelp
Hmm, it seems that the quality and quantity of the food and service has been spotty and on the decline. This was my go-to spot in Pacifica for sandwiches, but it's difficult to make it a go-to any longer when the time it takes to make sandwiches is so prolonged, and the hours posted are inconsistent with the actual time the place closes (it varies). The environment inside seems to have changed too with empty shelves; not sure what that's about, but I do miss being able to get non perishable Italian groceries here like dried squid ink pasta.

Yelp
I placed at order with Colombo's at 4:30pm on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 through their website which prompted me to their DoorDash User interface. It turns out they closed early that day (3pm rather than 6pm like they have stated online and on their door) due to being short handed in staffing. So I went down to the store only to find it closed!! No big deal, right? Just come in and have them rectify the issue, right??? Nope!! I came in the next day and they said to take it up with DoorDash. Then Doordash said to take it up with them. I have called, emailed, and even did the website inquiry on Columbo's website to no avail. It's a month later, and I haven't reached any resolution. They essentially ghosted me over $48.70. I'm never coming here again, they are overrated and Upper Crust Deli down the road 8 minutes (still in Pacifica) is better and cheaper. They also have softer Dutch crutch to. So if You're an SF Native like me you'll appreciate the difference. Or just go over the hill to Little Luca Sandwiched which alway has the best snadwiches. Below is what DoorDash told me. Please see the attached pics as well. Hi George, Thank you for contacting DoorDash! Upon checking your order, I see that it was placed directly from the Merchant application. Since the payment is directly made to the restaurant, we just act as a delivery partner. They do not give access nor we have the authority to process any compensation. I request you to reach out to them for further help. I will assure you that they will definitely assist you with this to your satisfaction. The orders placed through Door Dash application will be completely taken care of by us but this order is handed over to them as they are the owner of the authority for the payment. Only the Dasher from us will be picked to deliver the food. Your reference number for this request is 630007906. Best, Preshika DoorDash Support

Yelp
I got 2 sandwiches called the Godmother and the Meatball Sub. The bread on both was very hard and dry (might be due to being overly toasted and/or the bread itself is not fresh). The ingredients on the inside were all really tasteful, but it was harder to enjoy because of the bread. I prefer Lou's Cafe, Mr. Pickle's Sandwich Shop, and Ike's. I've never had a problem with quality there before. It could've just been a fluke, but I always prefer my sandwiches toasted so I might think twice before coming back to Columbo's. I really like Columbo's meatballs though, much more than the meatballs at Mr. Pickles so it is a shame. Looking at the other reviews, the bread seems to be a recurring issue from years ago so each meal could either be a hit or miss.

Yelp
This place is absolutely fabulous. The bread is made in house and made with quality ingredients. The deli meats are mostly cooked in house if not imported in. The cheeses here are fantastic and are brought in from all around the world. Service is a bit slow which I am very okay with. They take their time in their perfected craft. Don't rush it, it's worth the wait, promise. This place makes daily soup specials along with monthly sandwich specials. Check them out before you head in! The market portion is a bit small BUT it has a lot of gems. From frozen house-made ravioli to hand rolled gnocchi, you'll find plenty of ingredients to make a bomb dot com dinner. Place is very casual, it's a market and deli. Don't expect a full service because it's intended to go. Plenty of parking onsite Cash and card is accepted. Minimal in store dining (take a walk the beach is 2 minutes away). Friendly service Plenty of vegetarian options Big portions

Yelp
My friend has been raving about this place for a while now and he decided to take our friends and I there! The location is located in a shopping center next to Safeway. The inside was very quiet with no other customers there. I was immediately met with the expansive menu of all the sandwiches they have. I was between the Godfather (my friend's favorite sandwich) and the Club House Sandwich (my tried and true sandwich). Ultimately, I chose the Club House Sandwich. My order took a while since the restaurant ran out of the Dutch Crunch Bread :(. I was slightly devastated for a moment, but after recovering, I let them replace it with sourdough bread. Once I got my order, I was excited to try it, but when I took the initial bite I noticed my sandwich was really dry. After adding more Mayo to my order it got better and overall it was a good sandwich, but not a phenomenal one. I was slightly disappointed with the sourdough bread because I was excited to try the Dutch Crunch Bread. In the future, I'm going to try to make it back to this restaurant to try a new sandwich with Dutch Crunch bread and hope for the best they don't run out. Shoutout to the staff for being helpful, knowledgeable and patient with me!

Yelp
Huge sandwiches! I think I got a turkey and cheese sandwich with a dutch crunch bread. The bread was really tough and rough on my palate but had a sweet taste to it. My food was packed very well and tasted great with a side of chips. Perfect to take out to the beach for a picnic :)

Susan K.

Yelp
Excellent service. Sandwiches are wonderful and bread delicious. Go before noon so you don't have to wait. They get crowded.
google avatar

Cyn M.

Yelp
Shelves and coolers empty, bread didn't seem fresh, looks like they are going out of business.

Yelp
Great Sandwiches! I've had several of there Sandwiches with no complaints, but I love their breakfast sandwhich! Fresh house made bread with a great staff!
google avatar

Alycia D.

Yelp
If you're ever visiting Pacifica this place is a must! It doesn't look like much from the outside and is located next to a grocery store, but the sandwiches are AMAZING! It's a family owned shop that offers a variety of sandwiches, foods, and a store. The menu was a huge wall and hard to choose from! The bread is baked fresh and the ingredients are super fresh. The sandwiches are so big you could honestly eat half and save the rest for later. We ordered the sandwiches to go to eat them by the beach! The service was attentive but the 20 minute wait for the sandwiches was well worth the wait. But there is an option to call ahead to order! They double up the meat and veggies. It's well worth the wait and the drive. Easily the best sandwiches I've ever had! I will be coming back in the future.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Used to be a favorite, but seeing has changed in recent years- Don't ask for sliced wheat bread: it's dense and dry. Meat proportion has decreased as prices increased. The formerly lively interior shop is dreary and empty. Try Upper Crust back in the valley for a no-frills quality sandwich experience.
google avatar

Siyi T.

Yelp
Tasty juicy sandwich with a wide selection of breads and toppings! Portion is big and can be shared by two.

Yelp
This was such a star find for me! My group and I happened to be going for some hikes on this side of the bay and I literally searched up "best sandwiches, Pacifica" only to have this pop up (and I am so grateful it did) It was very unassumingly located next to a Safeway in a shopping plaza but as soon as I got in, the line was LONG. I got the highly reviewed roast beef sandwich on sourdough, and my partner got the godmother. I also couldn't help but snag a rice crispy treat & what looked like freshly made focaccia on my way to checking out. The sandwiches were fantastic, especially the quality and texture of the bread. We also ate the focaccia warmed up over the next couple of days and it was so fragrant, flavorful, and fluffy! I would love to come back whenever I can, too bad I live so far away!
google avatar

Sara H.

Yelp
great flavors but disappointed in the little amount of meat I got for a 16.99 sandwich. see picture for reference.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Passed by this place a lot finally decided to try it out, walking into the place it looks like a really small mini market, but they do have a lot of different sandwiches, they make their bread in house. I ordered the roast beef bomb, my sandwich came out in less than 10min, they were pretty busy, one thing to not the Sandwich was pretty good meat quality is definitely on point, There's a lot of parking in the lot outside, they do share with Safeway but still plenty of parking,
google avatar

Manpreet N.

Yelp
Came here to get lunch about two weeks ago. I had placed a phone order and they had told me that the sandwiches would be ready in thirty minutes. I get to the place to pick up my sandwiches and I was told that I had to wait another thirty minutes. There was no effort made to apologize. I was simply told that they were working on other orders. I tried The Manor and The Rockaway which were their panini sandwiches. I liked The Manor as I am a huge lover of pesto but I found The Rockaway really disappointing. I found the sandwich dry without any sort of sauce or dressing to tie all the ingredients together. Needless to say this was a disappointing experience and I will not be coming back here.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
I was a regular customer all through high school + and the sandwiches were flippin delicious. we'd wait in line for an hour. was surprised there wasn't a line today when I brought my husband and kid by for a sandwich today .... it wasn't the same. the Lt. Colombo used to be a symphony of flavor and texture and this sandwich was dry and bland. perhaps this was an off day, but for $17, I was seriously unimpressed. not sure I'll be back :(

M J.

Yelp
I wish I'd read the newest reviews before driving there. It's true the shelves are empty; and you can no longer buy frozen pasta. It feels like they are closing the store. There is a weird vibe with an empty store. I ordered the Godfather which was delicious; however, the portions have significantly shrunk with the meat and cheese sliced razed thin. It's not a good value for $20. It's time to find a new deli after going there for decades.
google avatar

Adrianne W.

Yelp
My BF really likes these sandwiches. We did think the Dutch crunch was off. The texture was dry and not good. He's got other ones on different bread and liked it better.
google avatar

Clarisse T.

Yelp
i was curious but it was not bad but not too special either. i guess i had much expectation. i got the breakfast sandwich with hot sausage/link with egg and cheese. perhaps i should have used another type of bread and maybe that would have made a difference! i may try another sandwich!
google avatar

Sara Marie J.

Yelp
Amazing sandwich's and deli. I've never had anything that's just ok, everything thing is soooo good.

Erica H.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. The environment was home comfy. And the food was delicious and good portion size. Would definitely come again
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I were really looking forward to real Italian deli sandwiches, so we stopped here 10 days ago. We were the only customers. I ordered a hot Coppa sandwich on Dutch crunch and hubby ordered the Godfather also on Dutch crunch and ordered 1/2 lb of Coppa to take home It took them over 20 minutes to make 2 sandwiches. We took the sandwiches to a park and we're SO disappointed when we unwrapped them!! Both Dutch crunch were so blackened that we could only eat the inside fillings. If we didn't have other places to be, would've gone back to complain in person. We will NEVER return again.

Janelle D.

Yelp
I ordered and enjoyed the Vegetarian sandwich on the house baked focaccia w/ Swiss cheese. The ratio of everything in the sandwich was on point and very satisfying, the only exception I would have enjoyed more would have been a few more slices of avocado (I initially thought they had forgotten to add the avo before I found a small portion on the bottom layers). The focaccia bread was also a very delicious choice, with a soft chew & rich flavor. If you're in the Pacifica area and looking for a satisfying sandwich, Colombo's is your spot!

Ashley M.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. This is our egg salad sandwich- it was supposed to have "everything" on it. It came with egg salad, cheese and bread. No mayo, no mustard, no lettuce, no tomato or anything. How did anyone working think this was okay for a sandwich? Unfortunately, we didn't notice until we came home so we had to add everything ourselves. Super disappointing.

Jean H.

Yelp
Colombo's is not the shop it used to be to be after being sold! I ordered sandwiches online to which we were told to pick them up at 4pm. When we arrived they were closed. The next day I went back to explain my dilemma and asked for my sandwiches! He wanted me to pay for my sandwiches a second time and when I said no-I just wanted my order he called me every name I could imagine and threw the sandwiches at me! If I could give them no stars I would! Never going back! Also the sandwiches weren't as good as they used to be too! What can you improve?-a lot!

Yelp
Had the godfather. Really great sandwich. Super fresh ingredients and large portion was well worth it.

Yelp
Sandwiches have been at the top of my cravings list all month, so I've decided to go on my own sandwich tour around the Peninsula! My latest stop led me to Colombo's Deli. Ordering was super simple, as I went on their website, scrolled the menu, and opted for the steak sandwich. Ordering direct from their website is the way to go because you are able to easily make customizations and they'll give you an estimated pickup time. This was my 2nd time eating the steak sandwich, because the first time I got it I didn't read the menu carefully, and didn't realize it didn't come with lettuce and tomatoes. 2nd time around, I added the lettuce and tomatoes, plus truffle butter ($14.50). The sandwich came out around $18 with tax and tip. For me the bread can make or break a sandwich, and the dutch crunch didn't taste fresh. The vessel for any sandwich is the bread, and my sando was too much bread and light on the sandwich fillings. The steak itself had little to no flavor. The steak cut into strips lead to the meat falling out of the sandwich. I think one big piece would work better for this sandwich. The house garlic sauce was good and definitely adds to the flavor of the sandwich. I also ordered a side of mac salad, which was also underseasoned, tasted better when I added extra salt and pepper. Overall, I think the steak sandwich was a miss for me. I think next time around I'm going to stick to deli meats since they use Boar Head, which is my fav of all the deli meats.
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
Sandwiches are really good here, even coming since the 90's but they're super slow when it comes to making sandwiches, order ahead of time or else you'll be waiting 20-30 mins for your sandwich, and make sure you open up the sandwich to make sure what you ordered is what you get. I have had many times to where it was lunch time and you bite into your sandwich and not what you ordered. Cheese has been incorrect, mustard was the wrong kind, no veggies that you said you wanted are incorrect or not even inside. It's sad that you have to check every time. I was the only one in there this morning at 8:30am 9/19/24 and they still got my order wrong. Just don't understand.

victoria s.

Yelp
I ordered a steak and cheese sandwich online and picked it up and brought it home. The meat was all fat, and there was more onions than there were steak and I ended up having to throw away the whole thing after two bites.

Yelp
Is Colombo's closing? I have always been a huge fan of this place. I no longer live in Pacifica but when I do visit I always grab a sandwich or two there. I do think this last visit on Tuesday will be my last. I ordered a Lt. Colombo sandwich and was so disappointed. No teleme cheese or pate. Instead a thin slice of jack cheese and no pate. Why do you advertise this speciality sandwich if you don't have the ingredients or let your customer know? The place doesn't have any signage and fridges are empty. My husband got The Godfather and was also disappointed. Poorly made and meat was lacking. Felt sad to see this place look like this and even sadder that the quality of sandwiches go so down hill.

Max R.

Yelp
I moved to Pacifica about a year and a half ago....I've desperately wanted to make Colombo's my regular spot for sandwiches but after several tries to give them my business they've failed so many times that I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I grew up on the Mr. Pickle's in downtown San Mateo. Moved to SF in College and enjoyed everything from Arguello Super's famous turkey sandwich to a classic Italian at Molinari's. Living back on the Peninsula for some years I love a good sandwich everywhere from say Little Luca to a high end market's deli counter. So, when I found Colombo's I really wanted to like the place even though my partner told me it wasn't that good. So, I've gone in several times now and this review is a recap of the experiences. 1) The wait. It's RIDICULOUSLY long. What are they doing back there? I'm shocked as this place doesn't have a line out the door like many other establishments which I've been to and it appears to be well staffed, but you sit there for about a minimum of 15 minutes sometimes upwards of 30 minutes waiting. I don't see a mass of pickup orders in that same time either. A sandwich here or there, a few in one order or something. But many times they've got 3-4 people back there working the counter making sandwiches and they seem to churn them out super slow. I don't know if they need to adjust the model they're using (i.e. perhaps it's one person per sandwich and they move on versus having an assembly line or something). Honestly, I have no idea what's so slow. Maybe the employees are coming back with some hazy and glassy eyes after their breaks and are just moving at 20% of what normal speed should be...whatever it is I think they need a better system and some pep in their step to get orders executed faster per customer. 2) The Quality The quality of the ingredients isn't anything bad, super cheap or gross, however it's nothing outside of traditional deli meats and fare being offered. With that said, on my most recent experience one of the sandwiches ordered was a BBQ beef and the beef was not only skimping, but it was super dry and not satisfying at all. It tasted as though it was old and had been reheated and lost any sense of moisture in the meat. Tasted more like chopped leather shoelaces in bbq sauce and not beef. The other ingredients on some sandwiches from the turkey to salami have been fine, but it's really hard to have bad deli meats in a deli in my personal opinion. 3) The Stock & Selection They pride themselves on things such as having fresh bread, but sometimes they're out of stock of something somewhat important. One time, I went with their reuben as I love a good reuben and they didn't have rye bread. Now, it wasn't like I just had a hankering for a reuben that day, it was their special of the month. I'd hope that they'd have enough rye to ensure that they can make their special. Other times I asked for something on Dutch and they were out of Dutch. I appreciate the selection of deli salads, additional items like dolmas and such inside the deli case. The selection of things like chips & ice cream isn't bad, but nothing super special or too unique to me. The things like ravioli & sauces are nice from an aesthetic standpoint, however the lack of anything super fresh or more competitively priced makes it less valuable as a practical offering. 4) Prices The prices wouldn't be bad IF the sandwiches were better. In the year and half or so, I think that the sandwiches have become noticeably worse. How then are they going to justify the rise in the prices? For what they're charging for sandwich I think it's worth looking elsewhere.

Yelp
Went to Columbus's to collect on a coupon special which they did not honor... Said they ran out of product... extremely poor customer service in explaining the situation... Anyway, I think Oceana market makes better sandwiches... That's where I will continue to do my business.

Yelp
No more oven roasted turkey even though signs say there is. Really cheap turkey substitution now. Shelves and deli cases empty. What happened? Used to love this place but something has changed.

Yelp
This place has gone waaaay downhill. I've ordered this sandwich before and had no problem, but apparently it's now too much for them to handle. I called and tried to get a soft roll with Italian sausage red sauce and provolone. They said they can't do that. I then asked for a Sicilian (Italian sausage sandwich) plain with marinara, they can't do it. I asked if their meatball sandwich came with marinara, it does, they cannot however put it on the Sicilian sandwich. End of the day I got a sandwich that they forgot the cheese on and maaaaybe just barely 2 Tbsp of sauce.

Yelp
Always a great sandwich. Lots of meat, fresh bread and nice service. Depending on the time you go, there is no seating so we just eat in the car. Great family business.

Yelp
This has been my favorite deli. I was in there about a week ago and it looks like the place is shutting down. Hopefully that's not the case. They didn't have Teleme, and the meat section looked pretty limited. I'm not sure if they are struggling for business but it was busy on a Tuesday afternoon despite looking like they were going to close down the shop. Let's hope they stay in business and return to their normal form of being a fantastic Italian deli.
