Highlights

"Generous cuts of meat greet you as you enter this brasserie, making the house speciality blatantly clear. The quality of the charcuterie, perfectly cooked red meat, french fries and delicious sauces are quite stunning. A paradise for carnivores!" - Michelin Inspector

Quite nice place, service is good (not excellent). The meat is solid, very tasty and fresh. The starter menue needs some additional non-meat dishes to go well with the main course I would say. Otherwise everything was pretty good. I appreciate the good quality of meat and the explanation of the waiter of each type. I would definitely be going there again.

Google
This restaurant gets a definite recommendation from both of us and we’ll be coming back for sure. It was our first time trying bone marrow as we were curious, but we ended up not being big fans of it. Past that, we opted for wagyu as our main and we were blown away. To end the night we shared the chocolate fondant, which was extremely decadent and flavourful. All the servers and the manager were polite and attentive. A must visit for a great dinner!

I had been in Brussels for two days and tried at least five different places to find some good meat, and I can say that this was the best I found. It is a great welcoming place, and the master will show you a quick story about what you are about to eat before you order. I would say that if you want to have steak, you better be more than two people because it will be a lot of food. The price is over the average I had, but it is worth the quality that you will get. The staff was very fast and polite. You can't have tap water here, just that you know.

Had dinner here last night. Sat on the bar area opposite the library books. We could see the chefs at work and had a chilled out evening. Service was good but not intrusive. I would have preferred a back to my seat though as personal preference. Both said it was the best meal we had out in a long time.

Google
My favourite place in Brussels. A must try for meat lovers :) Tried the burrata, carpaccio, burger and entrecôte :) Update 5 years later: everything was just perfect and the quality remains exactly the same over the years. Had the wagyu beef burger as well as the beef fillet and everything was divine. Update again: the wagyu tasting option was WOW. I literally died and went to heaven.

Google
Had the prime ribeye and fillet Both medium rare The fillet looked a bit raw but it's actually ok inside, it's just the cut surface that looked raw However, the outside of the fillet was a bit too charred and slightly bitter at some places Did not expect that for a €38 steak The ribeye was fine but definitely overpriced and had better steak at cheaper price The chips were stale and soggy The waiter got our drinks order wrong so we sent it back then he came back and said 'did you not tell me this?!' Sounded a bit condescending but maybe it's the difference between languages Overall, the service was fine and quick

Google
Incredible quality! It is not cheap, but the quality is adequate. I took the pork of Bigorre, the cooking was perfect, the special soy sauce was marvelous. My friends who took the entrecôte were very satisfied too. Fancy and tasty overall.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great steakhouse in Brussels, this is it! Comfortable place, excellent service, delicious food.

Yelp
A renowned place for steak in the land of mussels and frites. Tons of options if one is not in the mood for steak. We had the wagyu cheeseburger and the signature colonel ribeye. They were ok. Not bad but nothing spectacular either. Service was quite good. We paired it up with a nice carmenere wine. Plenty of dessert options as well.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant in Brussels with hard working staff and incredible food. We had the bone in rib-eye steak for two and the crème brûlée for dessert. Every bite was savored and it was absolutely delicious. I recommend Colonel for locals and tourists alike.

Yelp
Marvellous place to taste meat. Réservâtes is absolutely necessary Service is very gentle.

Yelp
The meat is good - particularly the starter of Wagyu and Kobe was fantastic. Same with the accompanying sake which was of very high quality, not a given outside of Japan. The service is swift but the place is very formulaic - the quality of the main course chateaubriand for two was very good but for this price range you expect it to be excellent. The portion size for 80 EUROS was 3 slices of meat each, the fries were under-cooked and downright bad whereas the accompanying salad came straight from a mixed supermarket style bag with some vague dressing. Fine but eminently forgettable and lacking any culinary input of the restaurant itself. The chocolate fondant was goey (good) but very sugary and though baked off freshly tasted as if it had been prepared well before - likely a day+ if not more. Total for 2 with a good bottle of Nebiolo was 310+ EUROS and this is where its an issue, the quality/price ratio is out of kilter. The other issue we had is that having reserved online, we received multiple mail and text messages enjoining us to be on time. We were 12mn early and were roundly sent away from the open restaurant to wait outside (no table was filled yet) because "them's the rules". So dont be early and I am pretty sure if you are late, beware, as they would most likely kick you from your reservation.

Yelp
The food was awesome. I had the aged KOD beef and cooked to perfection and very tasty!! Everyone else's steak was also perfect from the hangar steak to the filet and the chateaubriand. The gents at the front desk and serving were all wonderful with service and recommendations!! Definitely a busy spot and would go back here again!!

Yelp
Wow. Exceptional steak does exist this side of the Atlantic! Sorry Ben and all my other favorites but this is a superb place and the quality and style does remind me of my NY favorites. Certainly the best restaurant I have been to in Brussels. Starters consisted of the Iberian ham and some sausage. Fabulously delicious and the flavor was subtle but had great depth. Loved it We decided on a steak to share and so we selected a nice cut from cattle raised in the middle of France with lower marbling and lower fat. The dry aging process gives the meat a more smokey and gamey taste that I love. It also allows for a rare steak to be at its best so I asked for it to be cooked more towards the rare on the medium rare scale. Perfect! The accompaniments were steamed vegetables and Belgian fries. Of course, mayo was provided and the thick cut fries engulfed the flavor and tartness of the mayo, begging for more consumption. Not good. BUT Great!!! There was no room for anything else. Nice service. Attentive and NY style. The owner came over a few times and said hello and we chatted about the beauty of the US. But there is certainly beauty in Belgium and Colonel plays its part. Thank you. Will be back.

Yelp
I was told you couldn't get a good steak in Belgium... I would argue otherwise. Check out this set up. Hidden spot, great ambience, excellent food and high-end service. But, definitely make reservations.

Yelp
Great steakhouse in center of brussels can't go wrong owner is managing restaurant which is a plus cause service is truly the best you can ever get in brussels Quality is superb and food came at right time and right temperature of steak will be back when I am in Belgium

Yelp
The butcher walked is through the selection of meats and gave recommendations based on our individual preferences. We all shared some amazing Kobe beef as an appetizer and then I had ribeye as my main course. Simply amazing! They only cook the steaks medium... a big plus. The French fries are cooked in beef fat and taste amazing. Pleasant cocktails topped off an amazing meal. Really fantastic steaks.

David K.

Yelp
My wife and I had a really nice lunch here. We both got ribeye steaks and fries, and we split a dessert and a bottle of wine. The steak was good, but not excellent, but the fries were nearly perfect. We had the deconstructed Snickers bar for dessert, and it was fantastic. It was also a very good decision to split it, rather than trying to go for individual desserts. Colonel occupies a slightly weird space in my mind, because I was pleasantly surprised that the meal was as inexpensive as it ended up being, and yet for a €€€€ place, I would have been happier paying a little bit more and having a better steak. I have to wonder if the quality had to do with the fact that we were there for a late lunch rather than at a normal dinner time.

Lissa H.

Yelp
As a steak lover, I knew I had to try out this restaurant today. Immediately when you walk in you see the case of steaks you can personally select from to dine on. The atmosphere is trendy and chic. I called ahead at 7pm to ensure I could secure a reservation and was informed to come in at 9:30pm when I menrioned they close at 10pm I was told it was ok. My entree, the grilled Black Angus ribeye steakn belgian fries cooked in beef fat, mixed salad & bearnaise sauce (entrecote grille Black Angus, frites a la graisse de beouf, mesclun de salade, sauce bearnaise) arrived quickly and the steak was very tender. Despite the restaurant listing closing at 10pm patrons were still eating dessert and conversing when I departed at 11pm.

Yelp
This place is a very cool meat lovers paradise. If you prefer you can pick out your specific meat to be cooked. I had a great steak that was very flavorful and tender so I was pleased with my meal. The only thing that could be improved is that the service was a bit slow. I came with a group of six and it took a while but the food was worth the wait. It gets packed so you will need a reservation.

Floris V.

Yelp
Had a great Friday night meat-feast here with the guys: we shared two Cote à l'os Holstein and one Longhorn together with the Rubia Gallega faux-fillet. Mouthwatering, savoury, juicy fat and tender, beautiful! The beeffat fries were outstanding as well, service stellar and atmosphere amazing. The bill wasn't cheap, but definitely worth it.

Yelp
A steakhouse first and foremost, this is a posh and trendy place in Brussels to have a lunch or dinner. Just off of avenue Louise, easy to walk to. I came for lunch and had the daily offer with includes a starter and main dish for 24 euro. It is almost haute cuisine, with small portions of sublimely delicious food. I enjoyed the meal very much. The season is for scallops, so don't miss out. The place is lovely with an open kitchen and fresh steaks on display. Attracts a professional and mixed crowd at lunch. I found the service to be very good. Not cheap, but not too much above the Brussels average. Check it out. I recommend it.

Yelp
If you're a meat lover, this address should definitely be on your to-do list in Brussels. The meat is amazing, properly matured and the fact that you can choose your piece of beef in their small butchery is great. If you're not familiar with Normande or Salers meat, don't worry, the owner will give you some good advice. The atmosphere is nice and the place is well decorated, in modern industrial surroundings. Even if a bit noisy. We were there with a bunch of friends, all meat lovers, and would recommend it without any doubt. It's a bit fancy and expensive (+/- 75€ pp, including wine) but it's worth it. The only - slightly - disappointing note: we were hoping to share a last drink with the owner before leaving, which didn't happen. What a pity, that's always at that moment that you can enjoy the (his)story of the restaurant. And I can bet that this one will have a long one...

Yelp

Yelp
I rarely give this kind of rating but while the food was great the service was shocking. We were a group of four women just wanting to have some cocktails and good meat. After 10min wait to get the menu, 15 more to get our cocktails and to order, and an hour to get the food, one of the meat piece arrives way overcooked (asked for blue and it was medium rare). We point this to the waiter who looks unimpressed, goes back to the (open) kitchen and comes back to discuss our knowledge of what blue is.... It was pretty dismissing and we all wondered whether they would have done this to tree other tables where older men where having dinner. We insisted: it's meant to be a meat place so the minimum is to know how to cook the meat. When he came back to serve the meat the waiter was clearly taking the piss, almost bowing in front of us. We complained but clearly this is not a place we would ever go back to, unless we grow a pair which seems to be what you need to be considered by them

Yelp
Excellent authentic food! Also very expensive! Clean & sanitary environment, friendly service.

Yelp

Yelp
Just... sigh :) And they have a lunch menu and a terrace in the sun. Decor lovely. If you like meat: go!

Yelp
We looked forward to eating at Colonel as we saw a very good review of this restaurant in a flemish magazine and ofcourse because we are meat-lovers. Immediately we were impressed by the decor. Its a very well thought of and beautifully designed restaurant. There was also a lot of ambiance although it was very loud inside. Staff were very friendly although we didn't get any guidance with the menu and we had to ask a lot of questions before we got answers we were looking for. As a starter we took the meat platter with simmental, rubia gallega and chianina. The meat was of very good quality although the portion was very small. It's a dish so they say 'to share' but in in my opinion only for 1 person as a starter. For mains we chose the black angus entrecote. We asked to have it cooked medium rare and sadly it was cooked to far for both of us. As a side we got a salad that was drenched wet in vinaigrette (was the vinaigrette already put on the salad a long time before?) and fries that were so salty we couldn't finish them. The Bearnaise sause that is given with this dish is good but not homemade what I think should be a must for the price you pay. The least to say were very much disappointed in our main dishes especially for the price we paid at the end of the evening. In our opinion there are better meat restaurants in Brussels that are maybe not as trendy but serve the same quality meat for a lot less money.

Steven C.

Yelp
Came here twice in a row as it was that good. Benoit and Anais were amazing and the meat is just splendid. Highly recommended if you're in Brussels !

Frédéric D.

Yelp
Adresse absolument fantastique! Le cadre est moderne et agréable, la viande d'une qualité dans concessions, et le service réconfortant. J'y retournerai lors de chaque passage à Bruxelles, un nouveau classic.

Yelp
Greatest place on the planet!!! I love the food here so much that I have been dreaming of moving here ever since we visited 2 years ago. The filets, the burgers, the ribeyes are all out of this world. Everything is so fresh, cooked w such care, its just amazing. I cant recommend enough!
