Took all afternoon to get our lunch when it wasnt even that busy. Overcooked old chips and looks like the chicken breast has been cut right down to save money that it barely exists. Also found it unfriendly and it had an unrelaxing atmosphere with staff constantly always rushing around you. Use to be our go to local but we won't be going back.

I ordered the fish meal yummy snapper, my meal was not good. The fish was the size of the palm of my husband's hand, it was dry and tasted very strong like it was old. The chips were just warm and soft, tasted like they were reheated. The only fresh food on my plate was the salad. I didn't eat the chips or the fish. I said to my husband the chips taste like they were scrapped off someone else's plate. Another person at our table also got fish and they didn't eat their meal either. All the dinner meals came out on lunch size plates, and garlic bread 3 pieces. Others at our table were also disappointed with their meals, and after reading people's reviews I can see why they go elsewhere. I should of taken a photo of my meal. The last meal we had there was not flash either but this time it's a real turn off. But not to worry, we won't be going back there ever again.

We came here at 3pm initially however they were only serving bar snacks so we said we would come back at 5pm for the dinner service. When we arrived back we were asked if we had made a booking. When we explained that we came earlier the server seemed quite put out but kindly gave us a table. Unfortunately she forgot to give us a menus or water so we sat the for about 20 minutes waiting and it made us feel quite awkward. Luckily once the waiter arrived who was lovely kindly gave us menus and got us some drinks in the meantime. From this point service was top notch, the food was perfect and the serving sizes were great. My husband ordered the ribs which he said were the best ribs he has had in nz. And I got the spaghetti bolognaise which was absolutely phenomenal. 100% will be back but next time with a booking so we don’t make trouble for the servers.

This used to be my favourite restaurant without a doubt I was going once a week because I was always promised good, quality food. Unfortunately that is not the case with the new owners. A regretful $45 spent on a cold meal, I ordered medium well done steak & I received the steak cooked to well done it was very dry. By the far the most disappointing experience I have had here. Though I do wish nothing but the best for the new owners.

Extremely disappointing meal. Table of 4 with 2 bills - we ordered one after the other and our food came first, it was then 30mins later (and after we had finished ours) before our daughter & son-in-law received their meal. The crumb coating on our chicken was thicker than the chicken itself, the chips tasted stale and the mushroom gravy had a single slice of mushroom in it. The nicest part of the meal was the salad. The portions were tiny, left hungry and ended up going home and having toast. Great place to stop for a drink but I’d give the restaurant a wide berth.

I’m deeply disappointed with how management treats new employees. I will never step foot in this place ever again. They were happy to allow a girl who has a vommitting bug to work and when she said she could not spread the bug around the owner hung up on her!

Alright Restaurant, if you're looking for a good enough meal or drink in Stratford, NZ. then come here! Food: If you like spending money on decent meals (excluding overcooked and undercooked) then I'd say it is ok. The drinks normally always are the best things in restaurants, so wasn't suprised. Service: Food did take a bit longer than expected from a restaurant, but if you've got the time then no worries. Atmosphere: If you're into cabin(ish) style places then you'll really like this place. The outside area is nice, there is a pool table inside for a bit of fun. Overall if you're either going out for a drink & meal with your friends or on a lucky first date and you live in stratford then come here! Thank you for your time of reading this, take care and have fun!

Dined in about a week ago when visiting Stratford township, a warm family feeling bar restaurant with nicely prepared food. The speed of food service may not be perfect, but our group has enjoyed the atmosphere and experience there for our lunch. Will visit again when going back to that part of NZ in the future.
