I came here on a beautiful day - 71 degrees, and perfect. What drew me to this place was the patio because I love eating and having drinks outside on nice days. The hostess did not let us sit outside, stating it was closed. There was nobody at all sitting inside and there was a couple sitting outside. That doesn't sit well with me. I see why this place is completely empty at 1pm on Saturday. What a joke. I live next to this place and could have very well become a regular here. Instead, I do not recommend this place and will not return.

I love colony I used to go to them all the time when I lived in Connecticut. Told them a few times to come down to Virginia when I was up and saying it was a gold mine. They had finally came to Arlington and soon after Potomac. They need one in Loudoun County 😎.

This might just be my new local favorite Pizza joint. Got a pepperoni and sausage pizza which was delicious. Pizza looked great and ingredients were perfect. Very high quality pizza for a low cost. The drinks were very affordable too. The waiter and GM were very nice, friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to come back and try a different pizza. Also want to come back when the weather is nice so I can sit outside.b. Highly recommend if you are looking for some tasty no gimmick pizza

I have been in and throughout this area for years. Lots of changes around here but this place is got to be seen and stopped by. Rediscoved here remember being back here but wow a must stop for a great pizza or a drink on a hot day! A great place to be!

They had the beer I needed and some tasty flat pizza. Music playlist was awesome(mid 40’s dad here). Service was very friendly but a tab slow. Would go again. Happily.

I’ve been coming to Colony Grill for over two years now, and it’s consistently been one of my favorite spots. The bartenders are always friendly and on point, and it’s an amazing place to bring kids or even a whole team after a game. I’m honestly shocked at some of the low ratings—this should be the premiere pizza spot in Potomac. It’s leagues better than Potomac Pizza, Papa John’s, or even Frank Pepe’s. The pizza is unique, consistently great, and the vibe is always welcoming. Highly recommend.

Colony Grill has a rather limited menu in my opinion, but u now have one outstanding choice that I order every single time I go there: Pizza Salad. I used to always order the full pizza with tomato sauce and cheese with a full salad on top- but it was so large that there always leftovers. (Not a bad thing.). This time, I ordered a half salad with the whole cheese and tomato sauce pizza. Still fantastic - just no leftovers!!

Colony is a local landmark and a pizza institution ... for those with kids, it may be the pizza spot that these youngsters associate with team bonding after a game to celebrate a win or nurse another loss. The pizza and ambiance are average (at best), but the restaurant is still a special place that anyone will enjoy. The space is clean -- feels spanking new) -- and I've seldom seen more than 3-4 tables occupied during my visits (yet it stays in business). Servers are young and cheery and will make you feel doted on. HITS: Pizza salads are the bomb here MISS: Pizzas with sausage or string onions ... the Margherita pizza es no bueno.

I ordered an iced tea, and so did my one coworker. The other two ordered sodas. This restaurant does offer free refills (important detail). I finished my tea before the waitress had taken everyone's orders, so I said "would it be possible for you to leave a pitcher of tea so you don't have to keep coming back? I'm going to drink a lot." I thought I was doing her a favor since the glasses were small, and last time I was there it was like pulling teeth to get refills. At the end of the meal she asked whose check to put the tea on. I was a bit confused, but just said "put it on mine," since the other person who got tea didn't drink any of it. Anyway, we get our check and my tea-drinking coworker wasn't charged for a drink at all and I was charged $12. There is no pitcher of tea listed on the menu. To be clear, the soda drinkers didn't have any tea, and she didn't bring any extra glasses with the pitcher. The whole thing just seemed a bit sneaky. I would've been fine with my coworker and I paying for individual teas, and me getting 3-4 refills, but I thought this was the kinder option so she didn't have to keep coming back. The pizza is decent, and the hot oil is good.

This is obviously a place the owners are using as a tax loss because no one would say this is good pizza. I've never eaten a piece of pizza that had less flavor. It's like they have refused improvements because they want to make sure to reduce their tax burden at the other locations. No way this thing could be a chain with what they are serving here. PS I've never been in a bar on a Sat afternoon that had games on all the tv's and it's been completely empty. WEIRD.

This place is great if you know what you are going into. I love this type of bar style pizza, crust is very thin and crispy. They have a bunch of different toppings you can add and a salad pizza as well. When we went they also had some special seasonal pizzas. Service was a little slow as it seemed they only had one server for everyone but she was very nice and made it a point to check in on us. We sat outside but when walking through bar area there were several TVs and booths that looked cozy. Yes the menu is limited but I'd rather go to a place that specializes in something that's good.

Not good Even for families with kids. The place is practically empty, which should've been a tip off on a Friday night. It is maybe one step above frozen. Overpriced too

The pizza is a different style from what you might be used to, but it's excellent. Thin crust with favorable toppings. The space is great with very good outdoor seating. The downside to Colony Grill is their limited menu. I just don't get it. Colony would be so much more popular if they'd add salads, perhaps sandwiches and/or appetizers like wings. Not everyone in every dining group necessarily wants pizza -- which means that they're a lot less busy than they should be. We only eat here once every several months for when everyone is in the mood. But if you want a tasty thin-crust pie in a family-friendly environment, I recommend it highly.

All they have is pizza. Pizza crust didn't seem fresh ( frozen kind or premade) I haven't had pizza this bad for a while The service was good.

I really tried my best to like this place because they make hoi oil pizza. However, I am disappointed at their limited selection and the fact that they only sell pizza and that is all they can do. If you want thin crust pizza, The one in the Montgomery Mall has a much better one.

Never had hot oil pizza but i definitely recommend it! We really enjoyed the friendly staff and delicious food. The pizza is thin and great flavors. Will be returning!

Finally got to try this place. Pictures online make it look like a sleepy, run down place, but its actually a newish restaurant with a pretty nice vibe. The bar was big and busy, although the beer selection was your typical big brand beers with nothing really exciting. The pizzas were actually very good (ordered them charred), but i feel like the topping are very scant. Since you pretty much built your own pizza, one piece of sausage on a slice is disappointing. I am not suggesting loading up the pizza, but there was literally one piece of topping on each slice. I think that if the beer selection was better, I'd return more.

Review #100! Stopped here randomly for a "late" dinner and didn't realize it was just thin and crispy personal pizzas and a bar. I've only recently found out about this place although it's been opened for a year - it's located on the back side of Cabin John Village so not a lot of foot traffic. I enjoyed the ambiance, it was 8:30pm on a Monday night with the Olympics on, but no one else was there. We were greeted immediately and asked where we wanted to sit and we picked the bar. The bartenders and staff were super friendly and we enjoyed watching the Orioles game and the Olympics and chatted with them. We were told the hot oil pizza was their signature pizza so we ordered it with mushrooms. It was tasty but personally it tasted like the grease from a spicy pepperoni that came out, not sure I'm a fan of the hot oil but the pizza was good. Also had some Blue Moons and tequila shots. Solid 4 stars all around.

We recently discovered this place in Connecticut and had a wonderful experience, so we had to try this location. We did a carry-out. The restaurant was pretty quiet, but it was on a Sunday night at 9 pm. We grabbed a quick beer while we waited for the pizzas. Both pizzas were tasty.

I was visiting family and we had pizza night at this spot. It was spacious and very clean. The vibe was a little odd - like it couldn't decide if it's a bar or a family restaurant. But what really matters is the pizza, right? Especially since that's all they have. No apps. No sides. I would rate the pizza as good with room for improvement. I dug the crispy thin crust, but the toppings were sparse with a capital S. The stand out to me was the option for spicy oil - so unusual and crave worthy for sure. It was pretty empty for a Friday night so go show them some love!

Fantastic find - looking for Connecticut style pizza in Maryland this is a can't miss. Fair warning, they ONLY sell pizza. But it's damn good pizza if you're looking for thiny thin bar pie with good undercarriage no flop. For those who know they know. For those with kids they service milk and chocolate milk. #win

Phenomenal. Dave gave this place an 8.4 in Stamford. They do it just as well here. My favorite pizza place I've been to. Don't order it take-out (eat it off the metal pan) way better that way.

This is not your typical pizza with a thick crust and globs of cheese (gross pizza). I went to the original Colony Grill at Stamford, CT about 10 years ago, and have been dreaming of this pizza ever since. You gotta get the pizza with hot oil. Colony Grill pizza was better the next day, re-heating from my air fryer then at the restaurant, no joke. Best pizza place in the DMV area.

Don't think of it as a restaurant but a nice bar that serves pizza. It has a unique very thin crisp crust. Nothing I have ever had before. There is a salad pizza if you don't want pizza. Nice to see a new non chain restaurant and not another bank. Lots of TVs playing sports if you want to watch a game and eat pizza.

I can think of a few things worse than eating here. a hangnail. dropping a brick on your toe. we were 5 on a Saturday at 5. we more then doubled the patrons. first, they only serve pizza. only pizza. one so thin that it only has one side. and the paper plates they give are easier to cut then the pizza. the onions walked over the pizza. the meatballs were smaller then my gerbil's nuts. there is no sauce, the wine glass are so thick are small. you could throw them out to the parking lot and they would survive. the 5 hot oil's can't be disguised. it might as well be wd-40. that might be better. finally. the wine. tiny pour. and really zero in taste. below even that. the waiter, Caleb an the manager were very nice. but what are they going to say. you made a big mistake coming here?

I was rooting for this place to become a staple in the neighborhood and preserve that small town feel. It's great to look at, but that's about it. You can only get pizza here, and drinks. And, the limited pizzas are just ok. Something about the paper plates also just seals it for me. This is not a "serious" place. I'd love if it was a place where you could sit for a whole football game on Sunday and order different apps in addition to pizza, but this isn't it.

Love this place. Their pizza is great. The service is phenomenal. Love the ambiance as well. I wish they had some appetizers but this place still deserves 5 stars. Definitely check it out!

This place is stupid. They want to be an Irish pub but then serve pizza and literally that is all you can get. No sides. No ustensiles. No phenomenal entertainment. No nothing. Paper plates. They clearly just want to make all of their money off of alcohol sales and deliver the minimum food requirement. I'd rather go to a good brewery with a food truck because it's basically the same thing. What are they thinking???

I'm shocked that this is a chain restaurant. All they serve is pizza, and it's possibly the worst pizza I've ever had. I'm a fan of thin crust in general, but this was flavorless. I guess I should have been warned by the shamrock sign (Irish pizza?) or the virtually empty restaurant on a Sunday evening. I think they had better add some other things to their menu fast because if you only serve one thing and it's not good, you'll be out of business soon.

The pizza was what I expected and the drinks were good. I'm from Chicago originally and I understand that this is pub style thin crust pizza. Its not deep dish. Its not think crust. Its thin and crispy. Going in knowing that, it tasted great. The employees are friendly so there is nothing to complain about.

Very slow service the first time I came around. The food that I got was very average. Second time I came around, I didn't want to eat there so I got "Shake Shack". However, the manager kicked me out. The only thing that was decent was the good theme to the setting. Other than that, I hate this restaurant, and have very bad experiences. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!'

I loved this place, the whole vibe was comfy. Pizza is thin, crisp and cheesed all the way to the edge. I had a hot oil and meatball, but i prefer plain. I did though have to add some salt because it was just lacking a little. But i enjoyed it. Bring more Connecticut style pizza to MoCo!

The pizza was excellent! we shared one with half onion and half salad pizza. Great price, and the pizza was so so good! our server was attentive and very pleasant. we will definitely go again soon!

Wow - What an add to the neighborhood. Had the opportunity to try the new Colony Grill in Potomac recently and what a find. This is a pretty straightforward place -- Thin Crust Pizza and an awesome bar. They specialize in Hot Oil on the pizza and it is amazing. The servers are great company and I can't wait to go again.

I am from CT and know good pizza, and this aint it. Went with 3 other adults and one kid. The adults all agreed, the pizza was tasteless. My 13 year old liked the matzoh style pizza, but he likes Dominoes so... My mother in law said adding salt helped lol. Yikes! They only serve pizza so they better get it right or they're in trouble. The server was friendly.

Went here a little after opening. The vibe is a little weird, maybe because it seems like it has to be lively but isn't that popular yet. Ordered out and the women taking our order were locals and very nice to talk to. The pizzas were ok, could've been better, but might be biased because we're from New York. Also odd that there's nothing else but pizza at an Irish bar but, oh well.

OMG, where to begin...this place cannot stay in business. Service and Ambiance are Ok -those are not the issue-. The main issue? The pizzas are absolutely horrible. They are flavorless -for the 1st time ever I had to put salt on a pizza-. It tasted like cardboard. And a salad pizza?? What is that? A regular house salad tossed in top of a thin crust pizza. And PLEASE! Paper plates -dessert size-. Am I at Chuck-e-cheese??? It was almost infantile. I just cannot fathom how this place stays in business. On a Friday evening, it was almost empty. Jeez! No wonder why.

Me and my family were in town last week from Jersey and decided to stop by Colony Grill on a whim. We had joked during our trip that we wouldn't be eating pizza because we wouldn't find any good pizza in Maryland, but boy were we wrong. With a name like Colony Grill we went in expecting to get burgers and steaks and were a little bummed to find out that they only sold pizza, but the pizza ended up being fantastic and was honestly up there with my favorite spots back home. I normally don't like when the bartender ends up being our server at a table, but the bartender Tommy gave us the best service and had such a friendly personality. My wife wanted to leave when she saw the menu but he convinced her to give the salad pizza a try and she absolutely loved it. They are known for their hot oil pizza, which I tried on the side and it was a really nice change to spice up the pizza. We talked to the manager for a bit too (I believe his name was Jimmy) and he was also a pleasure to speak with. 10/10 experience I would highly recommend!

We may be biased 'cause we know COLONY from Stamford, CT. We say, first hand, that it is as good, likely better than the original. Eager, attentive service - not intrusive. Food is limited to the COLONY specially crafted Pizza with creative options (toppings). Beverages abound. You will find that pleasing accompaniment. Ambiance is minimalistic but comfortable. We've been back three times already. Highly recommended.

I guess I don't understand the concept. It's an Irish bar that sells just pizzas. Literally nothing else on the menu. The pizza is OK. Other than St Patrick's Day, I'm not sure why I would go back.

And kind of tasteless pizza?) what in the world is the concept of this place? No appetizers? No desserts? Just literally pizza in an empty restaurant in a strip mall in Potomac. What a great new addition to Cabin John. I remember when the choices here were only Popeyes or Roy Rodgers. Visited for the first time the other day and it was great. It has a real old style bar and one thing on the menu- paper thin, super flavorful pizza. Their signature hot oil is a treat too. If you are looking for a trendy it space with a menu half the kitchen can't cook appropriately, then this is not your place. If you want a super pleasant staff, good food, and nice ambiance, then this is your place.

Quite literally the worst pizza I've ever been served at a restaurant before. I would be embarrassed to have eaten this if it was frozen, it was a joke in a restaurant. Somehow they don't even have anything besides pizza. Cardboard crust, tasteless sauce, and bland cheese, literally how I'd expect a pizza from a dollar store to taste. I'm convinced every positive review has to be from friends or family because this seemed like a practical joke more than a restaurant.

If you like crunchy cracker thin pizza crust this place is for you. If you are looking for generous toppings this isn't the place for you Because the crust is so thin the sauce and cheese aren't heavy- if they were, this thin crust pizza would be soggy. Although we enjoyed the pizza, it wasn't high on seasoning, A tad more oregano might have made it perfect. We liked the hot oil but it's only for those who like hot food. The plain cheese without hot oil was good too. Watch out for the stinger - long green pepper though! It's extremely spicy. The pieces were large - recommend the double cut. You also can customize how brown the crust is and whether toppings are light, regular, or heavy - nice to have options since the menu is limited. If you think the Irish theme is strange, read the restaurant history on the website and it will make sense. There are other pizza places I like better but Colony Grill is a good addition to pizza diversity in the area!

Great to have a full bar and large dining room option at Cabin John. The space is large and includes outdoor seating. The pizza is unique, with thin crust and the hot oil toping. I enjoyed it with a decent selection of draft beers. We've gone 3 times and had plenty of servers available with quick service. My only suggestion would be to add a couple choices of appetizers.
