Genuinely authentic coffee, roasted in house & prepared to order. If you are a true coffee lover, this is a spot that you must try if you are fortunate enough to be in the area. Our service was stellar, the drinks were excellent & the atmosphere inside was great, a lot of locals it seemed, as well as some of the local PD. They had several options for whole coffee beans that they roast in store that you can purchase & take home. This place takes coffee seriously, which I also do so it was a perfect match for me. The menu also has some food items listed, we chose only to get coffee. Overall this was a 5 star experience & better than any of the other shops I have been to in the area.

First time into this establishment immediately, I was drawn in by the art lighting and the breathtaking atmosphere. It’s very clean very quaint and it feels like a step into the past. This is such a relaxing atmosphere and the staff were very professional and accommodating with MY interest and inquiries about the different types of coffee that they offer. On this first time here I paired myespresso with a blueberry muffin and was able to find a seating easily and rest my feet for a long morning.

Google
The guy never stopped what he was doing to take my order; I had to tell him while he was doing whatever it was he was occupied with. Ordered a the only smoothie they have, a 4 berry, and a veggie burrito. The smoothie was good but the burrito was very good. Super hot, and obviously made to order. I’d go back for another burrito and try the coffee.

Google
Stopped in for a coffee and was immediately greeted by a friendly staff and a cool, welcoming vibe. My daughter and I love visiting coffee shops around town, and this one definitely stood out. I had a white chocolate hot coffee and a breakfast burrito—both were delicious! I wasn’t with my daughter this time, but I’ll definitely be bringing her back to check it out. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Google
Nice little independent business, my review is only for the coffee itself. When I went in, I assumed the usual barista was on break or something because there was an older white guy there as usual, the first thing I asked was if they had a light roast, but the guy looked at me as if he didn't understand. I explained that I don't like French roast i.e. Starbucks taste, and he just said "it's espresso". I took a chance and ordered an Americano, and as I suspected, it tasted like $tarbucks; bitter and acidic. It was the kind of coffee where, when I got home, I had a nasty taste in my mouth and had to brush my teeth and use a mouthwash. I buy my coffee online, normally Ethiopian late roast, and I never get that nasty taste of my mouth afterwards. Anyway, it's a nice little business, I just wish they had different levels of being roasting. It's the Starbucksification of coffee in America.

Google
Best code I’ve ever had. I love their French roast and buy their espresso!

I ordered an iced chai tea latte and it was good. The woman was very nice that worked there. The man not so much. I also got two veggie breakfast burritos. The man made my drink then it just sat there for like 5 mins while he walked around doing other things. When he came back to the counter he handed me my drink and told me I could go sit they would bring me my food. I said it’s to go. He looked at me annoyed and said I know that. The woman was nice and friendly. The veggie burrito is nothing to brag about. It was bland and so was the salsa. I had a friend recommend this place to me but it was just meh. I probably won’t go here again. Not impressed. There are other coffee shops with better food and hospitality.

Google
it was my first time going to this coffee spot, its so cute and the atmosphere is amazing. upon arrival a sweet man held the door open for my friend and i. we then got to witness the kind interaction of this man being a regular here at this spot, they new his order and name by heart and tended to him with such generosity. truly adore seeing such interactions. the barista seemed to be in training, but she did so amazing and was very kind. i literally haven’t had a coffee this good in a hot minute so i will be visiting again!

Yelp
Yes, amazing. Friendly, expert cafe service plus they sell whole bean and ground. I'm keen on their latte!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place while in town for a business meeting. I was running behind and hadn't had any coffee. So glad to have found this accident! That was a full bodied espresso and they had oat milk options. I now know where I'll be having coffee anytime I'm down here.

Yelp
I love the look on the outside! As soon as you walk in, it loses its charm. It's dark and gloomy, very sparse seating, and almost nothing on the walls. It's also just an awkward entrance with a bulky freezer right when you enter, and 2 rooms that are disconnected by a roaster and a counter to order at. I got their batch brew, which was a pretty good cup. nothing to write home about, but got the job done. $3.50 and $1 refills if you hang around long enough to utilize it. Overall, not my favorite place to grab a cup and would not be a go to spot to meet up with friends.

Yelp
Unfortunately the manager was not courteous in handling an issue. It's not the "issue" that matters - it's how it wasn't handled. After placing my order to have in (not to-go) and paying, the cashier then told me their policy and that I had to sit outside. There is no outside seating and there are no tables outside. She wanted to give me a lawn chair. I had to get a refund. The point is that I should have been told BEFORE placing the order. I don't have an issue with their policy. I have an issue with the lack of foresight in communication, and no signage on the door stating their policies upfront. First place in Colorado Springs in over 2 months that I have had this issue. The manager wouldn't even look me in the eye when talking to me.

Yelp
Stopped here to grab some coffee before driving to The Incline to hike. I believe the owner was working this morning, he was super kind and open to sharing about their establishment. If we were staying longer it looks like they host lots of events as well!

Ky N.

Yelp
Had their breakfast burrito, but I ate it too quickly forgetting to take a picture of it because I was super hungry. Burrito was great with the green salsa they provided. Cappuccino was fluffy, and I was lucky enough to smell fresh beans being roasted there. It is a small and quiet cafe until the roaster is turned on. I'm used to noisy machines as I previously worked at several cafes, but I don't know if others can work with the noise. The service was great. It's a small shop and they were very nice and friendly. Hoping business picks up for them as it was pretty quiet the first hour I was there.

Yelp
Perfect Coffee ( and Apple cider) roasted freshly every morning, try their veggie burrito. They are super friendly.

Yelp
The gentleman that was here at noon on Thursday was very chill. Coffee was much better than the chains. Had a meeting here and I'll have more here

Yelp
We went to CO Coffee Merchants for their steak dinner last night. It was FANTASTIC! Everything was cooked to perfection, including the very tender beef filet, the roasted carrots and the fully loaded baked potato. We had great service and Eric kept checking in with everyone to ensure they were happy. You can't beat, nor have I ever seen, such a wonderful a prix fixe meal in COS for only $44pp including a drink. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I loving coming here whenever we are in the mood for a cup of good coffee ... or two, haha. We also buy whole bean coffee from this place because it makes our morning every time we drink their coffee. Guatemala is one of our favorites as a regular coffee
google avatar

Yelp
A nice local place with arguably some of the best coffee in town. Their pastries are top notch, and their service is excellent. I rarely see the owner or his staff not greet returning customers with their first names. The jazz music and simple layout make it a regular stop for me. Definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a quiet setting with good coffee.

Yelp
You have to do Friday night dinner!!! Can't say enough about the experience! Excellent meal and great dinner music! Filet mignon and Frank Sinatra!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious coffee! Staff is very knowledgeable and welcoming. Everything is roasted in house.

Towon J.

Yelp
PSA if you're looking for amazing coffee you have found the place! I moved about six hours away so of course I try the local coffee spots. After trying quite a few different roasters I have come back to where I belong! The stuff is better than the reviews! These coffee beans are on another level!!! I'm currently enjoying Malawi. Thankfully they ship!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I HIGHLY recommend this place! I am new to town and needed a place that was close to me. I walked in and was enamored by all the neat stuff, being able to see the roasting machines and bags of beans made me super happy. I loved how laid back it was but clearly a very passionate owner. He was super friendly and you could tell he was very community oriented. Not to mention THE best cup of coffee I think I've ever had!!! I will absolutely be back and buying beans for my family who doesn't live here and telling my friends who do, to come here!
google avatar

Yelp
Colorado Coffee Merchants is my go to spot for amazing coffee and some delicious food. I'm generally always running behind but CCM have fast and amazing service so I've never had to wait. Everyone is so incredibly kind and by the time you've gone in twice, they've learned your name. Definitely try some of the food!! I recommend the veggie burrito or the ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. SO GOOD. Also grab a bag of coffee to go. I was stationed in Colorado Springs March 2019 and I think I've gone at least once a week to buy a new bag of coffee to take home with me. Honestly the best place!

Yelp
I went to Red Dog coffee in Manitou Springs and the coffee was particularly good. I am a coffee snob. I hand (and power) grind my own and many others. So I bought some bags. And more bags. And had them shipped to my place. This stuff is so good I found myself getting rid of my other beans. Yesterday, my wife and I decided to go see the place. (we are going tomorrow too) and the food and vibe was great.

Alexis S.

Yelp
Once you get fresh roasted beans it's hard to go back to store bought. Not having to take multiple bathroom breaks, getting sweaty, or jittery can really show you the better side of coffee. While it's definitely on the more expensive side; there's really no need to explain the craftsmanship that goes into these beans. Just your good ol' local and friendly coffee supplier.

Gabrielle Q.

Yelp
My husband is a coffee fanatic and wanted to try this. I got the chai and thought it was decent. I do like mine with more spice, but there was only so much they could do with it being a premade powder. He got a vanilla latte and said it was pretty good. It was a little more bitter than he was expecting, but is excited to try the coffee beans.

Sammy K.

Yelp
A bit pricey but great variety of very good roasts. Always helpful and friendly staff.

Hannah W.

Yelp
I have always been impressed with this coffee shop. The best ones are made of kind people, a story behind the coffee, a homey space, and other reasons to be remembered. Colorado Coffee Merchants captures the best of these. Eric is the most welcoming presence to be greeted by every morning. He always knows my order and remembered my face when I thought I was just one of their many happy customers. I would go to this coffee shop before any others in the world and I am so grateful to have met him and the kind baristas that work here. I am moving and I will miss my daily chai run so terribly. Thank you for being so memorable in my life and most certainly, being one of my favorite Colorado memories! Thank you Eric for being so kind to me & my baby, we will miss your warm welcome every day.

Nick W.

Yelp
Asked if I could work there and ordered a latte, I didn't get checked out immediately so I began to work and the big bald dude was yelling $6 not free at me then proceeded to turn up the music and gave me a stink eye.

Yelp
I love this local coffee shop. Great customer service. Delicious coffee. Great quiet place to be alone.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The owner here is in the right place. He clearly enjoys what he does. I'd say he has a true passion for coffee. I always know I can come here for a delicious mocha and the food is tasty. I learned a little bit about roasting while I was in there enough so that I'd go on to buy a fresh bag of roasted beans. I also grabbed a sack of coffee chaff for my garden which is located in the back of his establishment. Please stop by here if you are a lover of coffee. I promise you will not be disappointed in your experience.

Kristie S.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, I got a frappe and breakfast... it was great! If you are a coffee snob, like me, you'll love it too
google avatar

Yelp
While the coffee is good, the customer service is terrible and we won't be back. We went in this morning (Saturday around 9:30) and there were 2 people ahead of us in line to order and 1 behind us. When we get to the counter to order, after saying one drink the cashier (older man) interrupts me and gets the order for "Tom", apparently a regular, behind me! He then proceeds to ignore both me and my husband as we are trying to pay, getting payment from Tom and finishing his transaction before coming back to us. I should've left at that point because it was another 4 min or so until our coffee was done AND he got the order of people behind us before completing ours. Bad business practice to ignore new guests for long timers.

Enoch G.

Yelp
Hands down the best black coffee in town. Finally stopped in a few months ago and I was floored at how good the coffee was and found out it's air roasted.

Leandra E.

Yelp
The roasted coffee beans are pretty pricy But the owner of the place he's got to be the most non-personality rudest guy every time I go in there. And I always give him the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe he's having a bad day or something but it seems like he has zero personality ,is what I've come to decide. And he doesn't have a good selection for his lattes , just basic. they're really not that tasty. If you go up the street a little bit further you can go to the third building or the good neighbor cafe very close by. Much better variety. If you're looking for a good cuppa coffee I wouldn't go here !The owner of the place definitely needs a personality adjustment. I'm pretty sure today was my last day to ever go back. There's too many better coffee shops nearby that have better customer service and better coffee .I never gave a review before but today service from him definitely warranted a review. Very negative review

Clayton S.

Yelp
Small business that has excellent coffee and a great atmosphere! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick cup of coffee.
google avatar

Whitney C.

Yelp
Legit the BEST coffee you will ever drink. I drive a long way to buy these beans. This place has ruined me for any other coffee. Highly recommend! And they were following Covid protocols just fine while I was there so I felt safe.
google avatar

Marg M.

Yelp
The best place in the Springs for fresh roasted coffee beans. They carry a nice variety of different beans and roast them in small batches, so they are always fresh. The date of roasting is extremely important when it comes to a good cup of coffee or espresso. Coffee beans are best within 2 to 10 days after roasting. Older than 2 weeks the beans are losing their aromatics (flavor and fragrance) and after 30 days are stale.
google avatar

Yelp
Visiting family in CS and my mom always get coffee from here, so she took me along. I love espresso... a LOT of espresso, like 4 shots. And I like deep chocolate overtones. The owner was super nice and told me they make their own blend of espresso. I guess I'll be ordering coffee to be shipped to my house from now on.
google avatar

Angelica O.

Yelp
First time here and our barista, who I believe may have been the owner, was one of the friendliest I have met! Even greater coffee

Vik B.

Yelp
I've become more impressed with CCM the more I try other roasters -- I can't remember better beans from anywhere in the state. Their selections have also been excellent, they can give solid advice on their roasts, you can sample three or four of their blends each visit, their packaging flavors have been consistent, and the staff have always been friendly yet efficient. They all want you to enjoy coffee, no matter where you buy it from. This business appears geared more towards the "small drinker" than other roasters I've visited. About the only area for improvement might be that the food selection is fairly small, but the coffee is what I stop in for!
google avatar

Brett P.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Obviously focused on supplying good product to wholesale accounts while maintaining a great bar. Watched the staff interact with customers ... Makes this a happy place that I would come back to often if I were local. They are on a busy road and their signage is brown ... Which doesn't stand out well against the mountains. It's very easy to pass and not know where it is. Regardless, the regular stream of customers in the store means that people know they are here. Worth the trip!
google avatar

Nicholas S.

Yelp
Great place, excellent coffee! I've always liked the coffee here and speaking to the owner I see why. I've spoken to him on more than one occasion and he is a student of his craft and passionate about coffee. As icing on the cake, they sponsor art shows for local artists serving wine and snacks for no charge! Truly a local business worth supporting.
google avatar

Don A.

Yelp
This has been my home for coffee for several years now...a couple weeks ago the team here was supporting a community event and the shop was closed. My wife and I drove around stopping at a couple places finding the alternatives simply not drinkable for our now refined and spoiled coffee tastebuds. In addition, the owner is so committed to perfect drinks he is almost always the barista at the bar. The staff is incredibility friendly, knowing everyone by name...the customers getting to know each other as well. A real cross section of the community comes through here to start their day, and start it on a high note they do!
google avatar

Yelp
Coffee is delicious service is fantastic. It's a working shop for roasting coffee so sitting area is ok but could use a little atmosphere. New favorite! Keep coming back- increased the sitting area and all the coffee is awesome!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm new to town and came in for the first time today. I brew and grind at home so I came in looking for beans. The owner was there when I walked in and was so nice and friendly. He explained their business to me, how they roast their beans, how long they've been around, and their different types of roasts. I am an espresso drinker so he had the batista pull a couple shots for me to taste before deciding what I wanted to purchase. Delicious! Their espresso is smooth and caramely. No bitterness or strong acidic kick. This place clearly cares about what they do. It's obviously they are passionate about coffee. I would recommend anyone come here for beans or a quick latte or cup of Joe. I left with: 1/2 pound espresso beans - $11.00 Hot latte - $4.00 Great product and fair prices! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Having heard this was a great coffee place I decided to check it out for myself. I walked in and saw the beans in the Freezer after walking around a bunch of roasting equipment in the middle of everything. That was two strikes right there. Freezing coffee is bad for the oils and the degasing process after roasting. They sell v60 filters and the pour overs yet when I asked they don't serve v60. Strike three, we should have walked out after strike two. I tried their coffee which came out of one of the thermos warmers that assure you have stale coffee after the first hour of brewing. Sampled a few that looked appealing. And they were watered down weak coffee... I'm not saying it's gotta be Starbucks over roasted or anything but it was very weak coffee. My wife ordered an omelet and they charged us 12.80$ my coffee was only 2.50$ no reason to go here. Better coffee experiences with the principals office or fifty fifty coffee.

Yelp
I decided to stop in here last time I visited home (a few weeks ago), as I had never really noticed it in Colorado Springs. Anyway, I go in, and what appears to be the owner, totally started asking if I'd ever been in, where I'm from, telling me about the beans they roast, and that they mill their own flour etc.; promoting the business to me. I was really impressed. I told my dad about the place, and he said he would go there for his next men's meeting (a regular thing he and a group of men he knows have)... Anyway, as I went over to fix my coffee, I noticed no honey (lame) - I always sweeten my coffee with honey - as well as like one option for dairy, AND they charge a friggin' DOLLAR for refills from a colander! I was in a hurry and didn't ask for honey... Anyway, fast fwd the next week, and my dad goes there for the men's meet-up, and as he's fixing his coffee, he notices no honey... He mentions it to the man behind the counter and asks for some, and the guy was super rude to him, telling him they didn't have any (lamer). Maybe try stocking some LOCAL honey, and providing it as a natural sweetener option for your patrons as well as other types of dairy, and stop charging for refills. Very disappointing, as I love local businesses and supporting them, and so does my Colorado native family.

Frank V.

Yelp
I can forgive the cappuccino with 12 ounces of milk, and, the automatic espresso machine (Come on, you're roasting your own beans which is noteworthy!). But not wearing a mask shows an absence of collective responsibility. Anytime I've spoken to anyone who lived through WWII, not once has anyone complained about diminished individual liberties. Patriotism is being redefined in an unflattering way. However, I'd still support this small business over a chain.

Yelp
I love trying new coffee places and supporting local businesses over chains, so a friend and I stopped by to check this place out. Rustic exterior with a somple interior that houses bare shelves and minimal seating. We were acknowledged (I'd say greeted but the man looked annoyed that we were there) by a middle aged man who asked what we wanted. I advised that we were first timers and asked for suggestions on some of their drinks. Again, annoyed, the man shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know, and asked what I usually drink-- I advised that I usually order vanilla lattes. He looks at my friend who asks for a regular coffee, then he just turned away and started making what we assumed was his order while I finalized what I wanted. My friend drinks his coffee black, so when the guy starts steaming milk my friend says, "No sugar or milk in mine please." The man doesn't acknowledge him and keeps steaming the milk. We figure he didn't hear him, so I interjected before he added the milk to the drink and the man pushes a self-serve cup and tells my friend to serve himself in the corner. Again, we've never been and had no idea the "pour yourself" brews were in the corner. The guy places the drink he made in front of us and says it will be $7.50.Apparently he took it upon himself to just make a latte for me to get us both over with. Oh, and the pictures of eggs and omelettes from previous posters? Not anymore. The guy looked at us like we were complete idiots for asking about a food menu when other reviewers have shown and reviewed food and omelets from this exact location. We just paid the $7.50 to get it over with, but right as we thought things couldn't get more Awkward the man make sure that we know not to bring the cup back to him and to just leave it on the table. On the plus side, at least he finally gave some Direction? The Latte itself was okay, nothing spectacular. If you're looking for customer service and great coffee, I take a hard pass on this place.

Yelp
Ambiance: A coffee roaster retail shop where you can also purchase coffee drinks. Order at counter. About a dozen or so tables available if you want to savor your beverage there. On recent visit, all tables were occupied with businessmen and their laptops. This is a place where a lot of working folks meet their clients and vendors for meetings while in the field. Service: Exceptionally friendly. Counter help warmly greet all customers, strangers and regulars alike. Drink: A really good cup of coffee. I am a fan! Overall, I can whole heartily endorse this place. It's locally -owned, so you feel good that more of the dollars you spend here are kept in our local community. I just wish they were open on Sundays!

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of hot coffee. So it says a lot that I walked in there for the first time today, asked for a mocha and loved every drop of it. It was my first visit to Colorado Coffee Merchants and I'm very pleased. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the shop has a very chilled, relaxed atmosphere. They also offer wi-fi, which is always a plus in my book and makes it a great place to chill if you want to hang out or need somewhere to get away and get some work done. Not exactly being a coffee connoisseur, I don't really have much to compare to as far as quality and flavor goes, but it stands to say a lot that I really enjoyed my coffee when I'm not a coffee drinker. It was also nice to walk into a coffee shop and not be overwhelmed by a million choices and overly complicated brews with names that tell you nothing about what you're drinking or what's in it. I'll be making more visits here. For a morning cup and to chill with friends.

Yelp
I love coffee. I love the coffee beans here. I love the people behind the counter. I love coffee!!!! Oh, wait, I think I already said that... If I'm in a rush and need a coffee pick me up, Colorado Coffee Merchants isn't actually my first choice. First of all, I don't like driving on Fillmore if I can help it, and sometimes I really need a drive-thru (which they don't have), and honestly I hate the parking lot. BUT I love buying the coffee beans for home. If you're the type who wants a cozy little coffee place to sit and chat with someone, or just be relaxed and comfortable, I'd say, right now, until they make a few changes, this isn't the place for you. They've got a few tables and chairs and also at least one area to sit outside but it just doesn't exude the cozy atmosphere I personally love about coffee houses. However, like I mentioned before, the beans are delicious. And, the barista is always genuinely friendly. If you need to choose some coffee beans for home, ask for some guidance. They are more than happy to let you know what your options are and what they personally like. The service isn't really very fast at all, but it's very personal service that you don't get much of anymore.

Yelp
While I do not drink the stuff I purchased 1812 for my mother and sister as Christmas gifts. BOTH rave on the smell, flavor and how good it tastes.

Sandee D.

Yelp
Great not so new discovery. Long time established coffee roaster with great coffees and delish breakfast Kolaches. Quickly becoming one of new "go-to's" especially as some of the others get crowded with students.

Yelp
Like Lance, I am also not a coffee connoisseur. I feel confident, however, in saying that Colorado Coffee Merchants is the real deal. During my last trip I watched them roast the coffee in house, which is awesome on several levels. It was cool to see, smelled good, and speaks to the quality of coffee you're going to get. Free wi-fi in a clean, kind of industrial and low-key atmosphere. I like their simple menu, as well. If you want something and you're not sure if they can do it, just ask! On my first trip there I was craving a White Chocolate Mocha but didn't see that on the menu, and the barista said she could make it without a problem. To boot, it was the best mocha I've had. I have the feeling this is how coffee is supposed to taste. I can only imagine how much I would love this place if I knew more and enjoyed the taste of black coffee. The staff is really great: consistent, knowledgeable and friendly. I also heard the barista tell another customer that they donate their tips to charity, and they take customer suggestions for which charities they should donate to. F'n A!
