This is such a great model railroading museum. It has a very wonderful layout, with interactive components. We went on a day when there was a large variety of visitors. There were young children, older children, even older visitors. I loved watching the volunteers run the trains. They even offered information about certain parts of the layout. It was time well spent!

Great fun for the whole family! It was worth the short trek from Fort Collins to see something completely different. I'd recommend coming when volunteers are there running the trains (3 days a week), because you can ask questions and they will tell you some jokes. The miniature displays were fascinating, as much as the trains themselves. The scavenger hunt was fun for the kids, and they got a little prize at the end even if they missed a few.

Google
What a beautiful HO scale layout featuring 25 scale miles of track, beautiful scenery, multi era buildings and an incredible amount of memorabilia. The volunteers are fantastic. We look forward to spending more time here, after we move into the area in the coming weeks.

Google
Very nice model railroad set up. Lots of activities for kids. If you have a High Plains library card you can get a free ticket.

Bring your imagination and disappear into a world meticulously crafted for any fan of the railway. Though the layout is expansive, each minute detail is expertly crafted. An ode to the railroad, but also a beautiful work of art. Everyone should come and visit this place at least once.

Google
One of the best in the US! Great model railroad that is fun for all ages. I came to the museum to see the UP X4014 Big Boy come through CO with a whistle stop.

Yelp
I came up to Greeley to see the arrival of Big Boy, the largest steam locomotive ever built. The planned stop was next to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum. So I went to see all the memorabilia and the model railroad layouts. What a fun time. Lots of history and amazing layouts with trains and miniature buildings. Also a cute miniature circus made of Legos. Then, Big Boy arrived. Wow!!

Yelp
This place is absolutely incredible. I have always loved trains and just couldn't pass up stopping in while I was in Greeley. I was astonished at the level of pure artistry of the train lay outs and the landscapes and towns people have made. You can view the trains from cat walks above the displays or you can be down in and around them on ground level. The place is clean, well laid out and well run. The people were exceptionally pleasant and clearly shared my passion for trains. I really wish this place was closer to my house as I would love to volunteer in a place like this. It's model train heaven and I spend several hours checking them all out. Plenty of parking and a great building.

Yelp
Really fun model train museum. I wish it was a bit bigger or cheaper, but still fun to visit and spend time at.

Yelp
So much fun for all ages! Very well displayed. We like to bring all of our visitors to Greeley to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum.

Yelp
Great for all ages! I had a great time looking at the tiny features and for the dinosaurs. A fun experience that lasts at least an hour.

Yelp
This museum kept 5&7 year old, and a 71&78 year mesmerized for an hour and a half! Fabulous displays and a volunteer staff who love what they do adding another layer of WOW to a fabulous experience .

Yelp
This place is amazing!! From young to old it will capture your imagination and curiosity immediately! The attention to detail is insane! The volunteers that run the trains are wonderful people to watch and chat with. They have so much knowledge and are eager to educate. We were told it took them just over 5 years to complete the museum but over 10 in design. You can really tell how much went into it. I defiantly recommend coming with some time to spare. It is worth walking slow and looking at all the details, watch the trains run through and listened and watch the conductors. I will defiantly come back here again next time I'm in town.

Yelp
The coolest model railroad museum I've ever been to! Such a neat place to visit in Greeley! I love how the people who are guiding the trains take it seriously and talk to dispatch with everything they do. They have a small souvenir store as well. Overall, this was a great museum that I'd def come back again!

Yelp
This place was absolutely incredible! I loved trains as a child and had a train set that I had so much fun with, so when I saw that this museum was only a little over an hour drive away, I had to go! First, the location is so nice, being right next to an actual railroad with trains running by every so often definitely added to the ambiance. They had adequate parking and it was easy to find. Once inside, it was mesmerising! There's fun I-Spy games to keep you engaged for all ages and the details on some of the terrain and design was insane. You could easily spend upwards of 2 hours here just diving into all the small details. It's obvious a LOT of thought, planning, and skill to make someone's dream a reality. All of the staff & volunteers were really helpful and gave us lots of information. You can even go inside a sleeper car, which was really cool and immersive. Even though I'm not in the area, I hope to return many times and I look forward to my next visit! And with such a low admission price, I can't complain. Highly recommend.

Yelp
What a terrific find! The attention to detail and helpfulness of all the employees (volunteers maybe?) was awesome. They were full of info and ready to talk and answer any questions. Kids and adults both loved it.

Yelp
What a epic model railroad! Visited on a Sunday, they opened right at 1pm. The admission attendant couldn't be nicer. I was given a detailed map of the layout with detailed description on the backside. Lots of railroad historical artifacts and examples on the second floor catwalk. Climbed into the authentic full sized caboose, the kids will love it. The layout itself is epic in scale, detail and variety. Scenes change from rural, urban, mountainous and even dockside. Although I didn't participate, I noticed several kids with a scavenger hunting list as well as several dinosaurs hiding in the layout. The trains have sound and on the day I visited, there was a long Union Pacific live stock train that had pig and cow sounds emanating from the boxcars. Don't miss the big red buttons in various spots on the layout- they trigger a animated part of the layout- don't miss the forest fire scene! Visit! I recommend it!

Yelp
This is a really fun destination in downtown Greeley. They have (model) miles and miles of trains running through cities, mountains, industrial parks etc. There's an area for kids to get very interactive with, and a few spots through the displays for adults to as well. There are several really nice volunteers scattered about to answer questions and tell stories. Make sure to ask for a scavenger hunt list, because they have lots of fun hidden throughout.

Jacklyn S.

Yelp
Fun place to take the kids on a winter day. It was pretty quiet on Friday morning in January. My one and two year old loved playing with the kids train toys, going in the caboose and watching the model trains go by. It's not terribly big, but we were still here for 2 hours. We'll be back!

Yelp
First time visiting. Came across it by accident on YouTube and went within a week. SO impressed I purchased the family membership and plan to go back this weekend to spend more time. Highly recommend - for all ages.
