Colors Urban Hotel Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki, Greece) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If ever there were a boutique hotel that does exactly what it says on the label, it’s Colors Urban Hotel Thessaloniki. From the outside it’s a classic century-old city-center building, blending in tastefully to the historic cityscape. Inside, however, it’s a different story: a riot of, well, color, its 37 rooms never lacking for visual interest, whether that means ultra-saturated background colors, street art–inspired murals, or both. They range in size from the aptly named Medium Doubles to the very large King Suite, which comes with its own balcony, terrace, and outdoor jacuzzi." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I visited Thessaloniki for the first time in Aug. 2025. Our stay at Colors Urban was wonderful. The staff was terrific, especially the receptionist, Georgia. The location was perfect. Easy walk to Ladadika (for delicious food), shopping, and the city's waterfront promenade. Highly recommend Colors Urban. The people of Thessaloniki were very welcoming.

Although I had doubts about this hotel, it actually turned out to be very friendly and child-friendly. The staff is truly wonderful and the rooms are very clean. Due to a mistake made by the agency, we ended up in a lower-category room in the middle of the building without natural ventilation, but because of the children we were moved to a larger room as soon as the opportunity arose. An excellent choice for a hotel in the center of Thessaloniki.

Really good stay. The staff were welcoming and polite, check in was easy and we got a room upgrade. The room itself was clean and bright, excellent air conditioning and the bed was comfortable. Had a good powerful shower. Excellent location, really close to the seafront and the Ladadika area with lots of restaurants and bars. There is a lift for taking your cases to rooms on higher floors. You can leave luggage if needed for a later departure. The only criticism would be that, as mentioned in previous reviews, the street noise is unusually loud. We managed to sleep through it, but really it was constant all through the night and do if you’re a light sleeper May need another option.

I had a very disappointing and stressful experience at this hotel. The first room I was given had a strong unpleasant smell and a window that opened only to the reception area, not to the outside, something that was never mentioned in the description. When I asked for help, the staff were unhelpful, rude, and even sarcastic, refusing to connect me with a manager despite my repeated requests for almost two hours. After I decided to leave, they eventually offered me another room, which at least did not smell, but again the window opened only to an interior space, not outside. As I was traveling with a small child and the hotel was fully booked, I had no choice but to stay, which caused significant stress and discomfort. Even worse, when I asked about a refund, I was told very late that it was not possible, leaving me in a very difficult situation. To make matters worse, during breakfast I saw a cockroach walking around in the restaurant area where food is served. This was shocking and unacceptable, especially in a hotel that claims to be four stars. The overall experience was extremely negative, mainly due to the unprofessional, unfriendly, and uncooperative behavior of the staff, combined with the unacceptable hygiene conditions. I also sent an email to the hotel but never received any reply, which further demonstrates their lack of professionalism. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families.

The absolutely worse hotel experience I have had in my life and I have travelled all around the world.||||I made a reservation over the phone for 2 people for 1 week and they mistakenly put it down as 1 person. They also asked for a bank transfer so that they don't pay card processing fees and instead I ended up paying 8 euros in fees for an international bank transfer. On arrival they asked whether I want a room with "sea views" or a room at the back which is more quiet when in reality they should have told me that the rooms at the front are so noisy you cant sleep instead of marketing them as "sea view" and "non sea view".||||My room was large and nicely decorated but pretty basic. It was facing the tsimiski street which they like to call as "sea view" which is heavily obstructed and the sea is very far away. You could see the sea through one of the windows and if you were at a particular angle - insane. The noise from the traffic was deafening. It was impossible to sleep with a window open and impossible to sleep with the windows closed as the air conditioning was badly positioned blasting the air right on the bed. The bed also had no slates but a makeshift base that was not flexible at all making the mattress really uncomfortable.||||All in one soap dispensers in the shower are acceptable at a hostel not a 4 star hotel. Toilet paper dispensers that dispense 1 sheet of toilet paper at a time are acceptable at an airport bathroom not a 4 star hotel.||||I slipped and fell when coming out of the shower even though I had put towels down on the floor. The floor was insanely slippery it was impossible to get up. As if it had been cleaned with something really powerful but not rinsed afterwards. I hurt my foot so bad I initially though it was broken. I couldn't move my toes. They took me to a nearby pharmacy and gave me EXPIRED disinfectant for a cut. My holiday was ruined. I couldn't dance at my sister's wedding or walk long distances. It took about 6 weeks to recover fully.||||The breakfast was basic. It reminded me the breakfast served at a hostel I stayed at in 2009 but worse. No croissants, only toast bread. Fried eggs and rubbery bacon was the only hot food and even that was not hot but room temperature sitting there for hours. The juice was cold when breakfast would start but a lukewarm watery mess later.||||An overall sense of a rundown hotel which was confirmed when the air conditioning broke down for the WHOLE hotel in the middle of a very hot June's day. People were complaining at the reception. The manager, Tasos had fled the hotel and left 20 year olds at the reception with no experience on how to deal with frustrated customers ! They kept saying that they were sorry but not word about compensation. I spoke with the manger who hardly made an effort to be genuine sorry but agreed to compensate me and reassuring me that he would personally take care of it. It never happened. IF YOU ARE PROMISED A REFUND DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING UNTIL YOU HAVE WRITTEN CONFIRMATION IT HAS BEEN ISSUED.||||The issues I have mentioned regarding, maintenance, lack of professionalism and bad breakfast have been mentioned by other over the course of YEARS.||||UPDATE: They emailed me with subject line “Compensation” saying they are offering me a 1 night refund after I complaint and to send them my bank account details. I sent them my details and they replied with “on second thought we don’t think you deserve compensation and that I had preferential treatment because they paid for my bar bill of 8 coffees (about 25 euros) what a joke ! They ruined a holiday and and me attending my sister's wedding completely and they estimate the damages at 25 euros. Complete lack of integrity and ethics. So take my honest 1 star review that you worked so hard for and I may take you to court at anytime within the next 5 years.

We are very grateful to the administrator Ariadni, who was incredibly helpful to us. Not only does she speak three languages, but she is also such a kind-hearted person who didn’t leave us in trouble. We had accidentally mixed up the dates and tried to check into the hotel on the wrong day, but she immediately helped us solve the problem, found an alternative, called them, and treated us with so much kindness. Because of such amazing staff, we have decided that when we come back, we will definitely stay at your hotel again. Thank you so much 💖

Nice hotel, well decorated, great center location. Here are the problems: - The room had some smell, probably because of the air humidity, once ac started and window opened it went away. - THERMOSTAT has 10 buttons, no instructions, all night I was turning on and off the AC. And yes somebody tried to set it up, didn't work -

We arrived early in the morning We were greeted by a guy whose name we unfortunately don't remember. He kindly took our suitcases for safekeeping, opened a map, showed us what to do in the area, and recommended. Amazing hotel, excellent service, the room was cleaned and tidied up every day. Sufficient and delicious breakfast. The hotel is on the main shopping street 15 minutes from the White Tower, less than ten minutes from the port. A 5-minute walk to the taverns to the right of the hotel. Highly recommend
