Google
I drove by this place all the time and wanted to try them. So on this day my father was getting his car serviced so we decided to walk there and try them out! I'm so glad I suggested this place. The food was good and the waitress was really nice! You must come!

Alis C.

Google
I had eggs, hash browns and sausage. It was really good. My sister had spinach omelette and the spinach was not really cooked and it was still big leaves with hard stems. That would be my only complaint

Caitlyn H.

Google
Fantastic breakfast/brunch/lunch option. So many tasty items on the menu but I always seem to fall back on either the avocado benny (ask for a grilled biscuit instead of an English muffin, SUBLIME!) or the shrimp and grits. Both excellent choices. Service with a smile doesn't do the staff justice. So friendly, accommodating and eager to make suggestions that will elevate your palette's experience. This is one of my top choices for dining.

Google
Slim Jim sandwich, fries, BLT. Yum. Our first time here. Lots of booths. Quick service. Great coffee. Spacious dining room. Easy parking. We’ll definitely be back.

Google
We love this locally owned diner. Very good menu, great service, and friendly people all over. There is plenty of parking, and the interiors are well donr, and very welcoming. It is not as fairly priced as it once was, still worth the money for a local business. Highly recommend

Google
Our toast was burnt, we sent it back and the second toast was just bread. I asked for over easy eggs and they sent out well done eggs ( hard yoke ). I sent those back and they sent me eggs again that was over cooked. The bacon was old, the waitress had a serious attitude when we complained, When I asked for the manager, The owner/ cook took our food and said he wasnt going to argue. It was the worst dining experience I've had.

Leah L.

Google
I had avocado toast with 2 eggs over medium. The toast was thick and generously covered in avocado and feta. The eggs were on top. It was very good.

Google
This is seriously the best meal I have had in awhile The food is fresh everything is fresh would absolutely come again

Yelp
A local diner that hits the spot in a pinch. Been here several times for lunch and the food it always fresh and quick. The service is excellent and there's never a wait to be seated. Typical diner and Michigan favorites on the menu. They have hot soups, chili, salads, burgers, wraps, and sandwiches. I've gotten the chicken avocado wrap several times and each time it's delicious. Grilled chicken with fresh veggies on a pita served with ranch on the side. I usually get fries which look to be double fried so they are nice and crispy. Free refills on pop and you pay at the counter when done. Easy come and go within a lunch hour. Love the attentiveness and appreciate the quick service with quality ingredients. Will have to come back to try their breakfast menu, which has all my diner favorites.

Yelp
Incredibly busy place with quite an array of offerings. We were both into soup and entrees....fish and chips, ham and cheese etc. All excellent. Soup homemade and incredible amount of chicken in it (lemon, chicken, rice). Vegetable side was really fresh corn....not canned and cooked to death. Very inexpensive and real food vs the typical fast food places. Will visit again for sure.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast. We both had omelets that were tasty. Service and portions were great. Will return when in the area.

Yelp
Always a reliable breakfast spot that's quick and affordable. Can't go wrong with their skillets

Phil R.

Yelp
Service was great! (even for a busy holiday morning) good spot for families to enjoy food together! Highly recommend the avocado chicken BLT

Yelp
Solid breakfast and lunch Service is solid They up-charge 3% you if you pay by card

Yelp
Pretty weird that the restaurant doesn't have an updated google profile for their Troy address. My experience was so bad I had to go to Yelp. My partner and I barely touched our food; my eggs Benedict meal was soggy and inedible. My partner got a basic breakfast of bacon eggs and toast and they still managed to make it wrong, and wet?? It was like we were being served high school cafeteria food. We sat at the counter and the entire time the staff were running in to each other and fighting. I saw so many arguments between the staff it was disturbing. I am so grossed out by this place I wouldn't go back if you paid me.
google avatar

Maureen B.

Yelp
Cute diner and quick service. This was our first time and the parking lot was packed. Worried we would have to wait on a Sunday morning. We were seated right away and the food was great. Would return here again. A must go for breakfast and they skillets were amazing and fresh.

Yelp
Carried out a cinnamon French toast, was also considering their huevos ranchero too, but settled on the cinnamon French toast since it's the weekend, a Greek skillet and a baby Greek salad to go. Order would take about 10-15 minutes to make it up. The guys here plowing the parking lot are driving around like madmen, two red trucks hauling butt. They are going back and forth to push the snow out into the side of the lot. It's good there's only a few cars in the lot. My husband moved our car as they were driving rather fast, he didn't want us to get showed in at all. They were in and out in less than 8 minutes. In less than time than it took to get our food even. The Greek skillet isn't bad, the side of cinnamon toast wasn't a good idea, it's an upgrade cost and is bland, stale even. Not toasted at all. The first time my husband hasn't eaten more than tow bites of his toast. The side of cinnamon bread was rather stale ready to be used for French toast, not as a side of toast with a skillet. I took a bite of the cinnamon French toast before we even left the parking lot. It was okay. Not crispy or crunchy at all, rather soft and soggy. A bit more time to crisp up wouldn't have hurt it at all. The rest of the French toast was okay, not as special as I had hoped. The carry out order comes with the Kraft pancake syrup, which has corn syrup, sugar, caramel flavor and other artificial flavoring. I opted to use the Canadian maple syrup at home instead. The baby Greek salad was packed in the small to go container. The dressing is the pink beet infused at least. The salad as a whole isn't bad. It has a more of ice berg and romaine lettuce. The Greek salad was the best part of my meal.

Yelp
Great food (try the rye as strange as that sounds), fast service, and a friendly wait staff. Nothing I have ordered has missed the mark yet.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. Their soup is very good! The chicken and dumpling is my favorite.
google avatar

Toni T.

Yelp
I haven't been to this one in quite a while, but I remember the food was very good and it's been at least 2 years. So I went today and met my son who I meet every Saturday. I ordered the spinach feta scramble which comes with toast and choices of a side and I chose pancakes and I'm mad at myself. I didn't take a picture because it was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Every ingredient was so fresh the spinach was beautiful the feta they could've put a little more in, but it was wonderful. The service was wonderful . We go to a lot of different restaurants. The ambiance was OK... I highly recommend this one to everyone. Enjoy.!!!

Yelp
Super cute & clean Coney Island diner on 14 Mile, j E of Coolidge. Was craving a good Greek salad decided to give this place a try. My husband ordered fish & chips. Both meals we satisfying and the pink creamy Greek dressing and tartar sauce were on point! Waitperson was very friendly and it was a good experience.

Harlan K.

Yelp
Great service nice people amazing food you don't even have to ask for more water it gets there very fast and isn't always that busy

Brooke G.

Yelp
Overall a great breakfast place!!! Good prices and the food was delicious. You definitely don't want to go here if you are looking for an "aesthetic" brunch place lol. It's your typical diner feel. The waitress and cashier man were very kind. Quick service and didn't even have to ask for condiments. I would come back here again 100%!

Yelp
I'm not certain why the reviews are so high, but based on that, we tried this place out for dinner and it was a complete fail. First impression was that the waitstaff looked/smelled like they just came from chain-smoking. The menu was impressive, a lot of variety, so it took us a few minutes to order. We started with a saganaki- it's my favorite, but not here. Our waitress said "I think I put too much brandy on, but I love the big flame!" Ok, first of all, I use to make saganaki all the time when I waited tables, and you only put so much brandy (2 tbs at most) for a reason. Never should it look like saganaki soup, which is what we received, the cheese had no time to cook on the skillet. It was edible, but far from the standard. We each ordered a soup, mine, the French onion, was the worst thing ever; One bite and I was done! My bf ordered the lemon rice soup and it was pretty bad, too. Very thick, more like a pudding. It became clear that the kitchen and/or waitstaff knew nothing about food prep or the common motto- if you wouldn't eat it, don't serve it. We ordered the small Greek salad- which was huge- and a patty melt. Two things that we figured would be safe, and they were! The small salad is more like a large, and the patty melt, well, it was standard. Long story short, we will not be returning to Col's.

Yelp
I have been coming here for a while now. I mostly come in on the weekends and get breakfast. I came in last night to get the Country omelet. It's biscuits and gravy the omelet is made with sausage and hash browns inside the omelet have sausage gravy on top. It's so delicious, and customer service is always stellar here. Food is always very good.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with a very clean and updated look inside. Waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Had the fish sandwich, which was hand battered and very tasty. Chicken noodle soup with dumplings was delicious. I was told every is made fresh in house.

M J S.

Yelp
We brought a group of 16 for lunch the other day. We had called ahead and Col's was more than ready for us. Everyone --from the manager to the waitresses to the bus boy-- was friendly and nice. We were served quickly and efficiently and the food was great. My husband and I both had omelets; others had skillet lunches and sandwiches. Cols is clearly a well-run team of folks. We'll be back!

Renee P.

Yelp
Hmm. So I am giving 2-3 stars because this restaurant is a good local community establishment. But. I wanted breakfast for dinner. I work at Beaumont and was called in for work Saturday for a trauma. Ok. Col's is open and I'll be out by 7pm (Was out before 7 but...) Went to the one at 14/Coolidge and it has hours posted on the door that they are closed at like 3?? So then ordered from their place at 12/75 and the omelette was burrito style I will drive anywhere for an omelette to be all combined.. NOT sautéd stuff with overcooked egg for a burrito wrap. I literally drove from 15/Coolidge to 12 mile and I-75 to get breakfast for dinner Will still go to Cols for some stuff but not on the top of my list anymore. Update your hours. Things like omelettes are important. I will NEVER go back for breakfast. Pics are from the hours posted online and pics posted of their omelette online from Yelp reviews THESE ARE NOT THIER HOURS. THESE ARE NOT THIER OMELETTES.

Yelp
Got a carryout for breakfast and grabbed a salad to take to work... corned beef skillet was ok and had lots of onions and peppers, but didn't have enough saltiness for my tastes considering the corned beef should be the star of the show. Ordered OE eggs but got no seasoning, over hard eggs... maybe it cooked more by the time I got it home... but I've gone to places the same distance or further away and eggs got home perfectly cooked. Never got my wheat toast either but the potatoes were more than enough for my carb intake for the day. The chicken salad was their saving grace. The chicken was juicy and delicious... awesome ranch dressing to boot! My daughter got a grilled chicken greek salad and was raving about it. I will definitely be back for the salad, but breakfast was a flop for me!

Yelp
The BEST of the BEST!! Food is awesome! Service is Awesome! The price is what Ames Cols my favorite Diner in Michigan. You MUST have breakfast here!

David M.

Yelp
I think two stars is pushing it, but here goes my review. Went there around 11 AM on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. Greeter was great and immediately seated us. Took quite a while for our server to come over to take our order and had to give the greeter a heads up to go flag her and get her over to our table. Put the order in and took about 10 minutes to get our food which in a slow restaurant seems a little excessive but that's OK. I would give the food very average rating as it was pretty mainstream breakfast fair. Never saw our server again after the food was brought to our table, which was an issue, because I never received my toast. When she finally did come over 15 minutes later, I said I didn't receive my toast and asked if I wanted it, and I said well now my meal is over now. Don't think I'll be going there anytime soon and you'd be better off going to a Denny's in my opinion.

Yelp
It was our first visit for a carryout. I had the Berry Salad. It came with warm pita bread. I will have it twice (nice big portion). I really enjoyed it. My wife had the perch dinner with baked potato and vegetables. She also enjoyed it. Their service was exceptional and we will return!

Logan G.

Yelp
Solid place for breakfast with consistent service each time I've been. Parking lot can look daunting when busy but each time there's been tables available and service that is good!
google avatar

Suzanne D.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant and I won't be going back. Ordered a carry out. Immediately as I was walking in.. I noticed worker's staring. Approached the counter to pay and an employee purposely came by me and looked me up and down multiple times. He proceeded to get the cashiers attention, as she was putting my salad into a bag, he got her attention, she immediately turned around and looked at me. He went around to the kitchen and had multiple guys come out to stare. I took my salad and proceeded to leave..once again, they continued to stare. I came from the gym(pants/T-shirt) Felt so uncomfortable, aggravated and disgusted. Staff was rude and annoyed. Will not be returning. People now days are ridiculous. Train your staff to treat people with respect.

Yelp
Best diner in the area. Inexpensive breakfast always available. Good specials. Homemade soups, fresh basic salads, coney is on point. It's not gourmet fancy but that's not why you're here. You're here for a good home cooked meal. Specials for seniors, kids, day of the wee, etc Owner and staff is very nice and attentive. Get desert!

Tom W.

Yelp
We went for breakfast this morning. We ordered within 5 minutes, then waited 30 minutes. We never received any food! The Staff was so busy filling to go orders, the rest of the restaurant got zero attention. No one taking care of the restaurant customers. our waitress completely disappeared? We asked the Manager wher our food was? She walked away and never tried to come back to us. Horrible service and we will never go back to this dump. In a Town with a lot of food choices, no need.

Pat K.

Yelp
Much larger than it appears from outside. Clean, cute diner with friendly staff and exceptional cooks! Food is excellent and large portions. Priced right. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Tracy B.

Yelp
Amazing huge breakfast at a very good price. The place was clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and attentive. The rye bread tasted like it was baked there. Fried potatoes were perfection. Lots of meat and well cooked. I would highly recommend.
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
Perfect local diner. I've never been inside, only ordered via UberEats (which BTW almost always has Cols Place as a free delivery option). Fantastic lemon rice soup. Better than normal grilled cheese, made with Texas toast. Hand dipped (really!) chicken strips and home made ranch. All of the things someone who eats like a toddler would love.
google avatar

Bonnie N.

Yelp
Love the chicken dumplings soup. And most of the meals I've had were good and the service has always been top notch.

Yelp
This place is an absolute joke. I placed an order on Grub Hub (paid in advance, obviously) and my husband went to pick it up. Two chicken strip pita meals and a plain hot dog. Honestly, it can't get much more simple than that. Husband comes home and opens the bag and there's only ONE chicken strip pita meal and the hot dog. On top of being short one of our dinners, they charged my husband for what he had picked up. He was confused why they were charging him for it since it was a Grubhub pickup, but he's not one to argue, so he just paid for it. I called up to Col's to explain what happened and had to wait on hold for over 5 minutes to talk to some pompous jerk who is supposedly the owner. Said his name was Beckham. I was polite at the beginning trying to explain what happened, but he cut me off and started trying to play the blame game. He didn't apologize for screwing up our order or for having to hold for so long -- he told me that *I* needed to call Grubhub to make sure they didn't charge my card (he offered to do it after I was appalled by this response) and that my husband should have known he shouldn't have had to pay when he picked up the food so that was his fault. I was truly blown away by this guy and his excuses and the fact that he wasn't the least bit apologetic. The best part was when I asked if he would make the other meal for my husband to DRIVE ANOTHER 15 minutes to go pick up, he responded with: "I will not make any food for anyone for free" and said if my husband wanted to come pick up our other meal, that he would have to pay for it. I was so disgusted by his horrible attitude and customer service that I told him he would be seeing my Yelp review and hung up the phone. Well, here I am! And now I just got an update from my husband: The owner knew who he was when he walked in and approached him on the defense and started being a little aggressive with his attitude. *I'm not sure what this guy's problem is, but he should not be the owner of anything.* My husband being the extremely level headed person that he is, was able to handle him and they ended on an okay note (have I mentioned my husband is a saint?) He gave him two free pieces of cheesecake and a pop. A little too late now, dude. I truly hope that one meal was worth losing what could have been a repeat customer. Though, the food was pretty mediocre, so I'm not sure we would have been back. You would think with an attitude like his, the owner would have the food to back him up. Clearly not the case here.

Yelp
I love Col's. Great food, with huge portions and great prices. Add in a friendly and helpful staff and it's a no-brainer. I come here more now that the other location (at 12 & Stephenson) is closed due to a fire (they're rebuilding). Both are equally good and I have been a Col's customer since I first found them.
google avatar

Kelly F.

Yelp
Another wonderful stuffed French toast breakfast fantastic presentation and great company with Frank and the Cole's restaurant team
google avatar

Ranetta A.

Yelp
I love going to neat diners. Col's is a nice spot in a very convenient location. Their food is delicious. It's the service that was impeccable. Both of the owners came out of the kitchen to speak and check on my meal. I love that type of personalization and attention to detail. The portions are great and they have Real potatoes not the frozen kind!! I've been back three or four times and I will continue to go back!! I've had the breakfast special and the country skillet. I couldn't finish either of them. I didn't want to be too full going into work.

Paula E.

Yelp
They are very friendly. Quick service. Good food at reasonable prices. I love the Spinach and Feta Scrambled Eggs. They have the best rye bread!!! It comes with pancakes that I get-to-go for breakfast tomorrow!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
I promise I asked this woman that I TIPPED if all was in the bag "yes" fucking wasn't. And they were DEAD. Very disrespectful and low class and y'all wonder why so many ppl don't tip on carry out I never will for this restaurant from this point forward
google avatar

Bee R.

Yelp
This restaurant tries hard to please. They have great daily dinner specials. The salads are amazing. Good comfort food. Diner fare. I think the Fish dinners are the best. seasoned perfectly. Big portions. Excellent value. do yourself a favor & drop in for a meal. The owner is always there so the quality is top notch.

Tim W.

Yelp
Use to visit the 12/Stephenson location because it was easy and the food was ok! Went there with a co-worker to grab a quick lunch and as we were finishing up I hear all this commotion I look over and see the manager screaming at this homeless veteran who turns out was just standing in the vestibule trying to cool off on a extremely hot summer day.. after I said a few words on how wrong I thought the manager was I was going to invite the man to come in and have a meal at my expense, unfortanetly the man was gone! We must respect those that fought for our country and our freedom! I was willing to overlook the bland food and shitty service I usually received from col's but I just can't give my business to a place that treats veterans this way!

Yelp
This establishment on the corner of Stephenson Highway And 12 mile plus their is another location on the corner of 14 mile & Delaware just before Coolidge. I believe the one Stephenson Highway & 12 mile has officially permanently closed??! I would NEVER step foot into this establishment EVER again. I don't care if I was starving to death!!?' First, my husband brought me home a Greek salad with chicken from the 12 mile establishment. At the time I was in the middle of doing something I took a bite after I shook it all together in a bowl. I could not get to the garbage /toilet quick enough!!! The chicken was spoiled!!! I then smelt it and got sick again. Okay, fast forward 3-4 weeks later I'm out during the day with my friend we needed a quick bite to eat we both ordered a bowl of soup and the same (Greek w/ children to split) salad . Mind you we were at the location on 14 mile & Delaware. Usually, this would be out of my norm , however since this was a different location I gave them the benefit of the doubt. So her & I are laughing and whatever, eating our soup the salad comes, we both started to eat and we BOTH could NOT make it to bathroom quick enough so we had to bring back up ALL our soup & whatever salad on our plates!! At this point I had, HAD enough. I was PISSED! I went and explained to some man in the back of the kitchen HOW pissed I was!!!! Also what had happened 3-4 weeks prior @ their other location. I said here I am trying to give you a second chance and I get burned again!! And the waitress says well we don't sell a lot of chicken on top of the greek so the chicken sits a lot in the fridge. "I said ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????" How nice they covered our bill, they were going too in my mind whether they wanted to OR not!! The next morning I called the Health Dept. apparently the 12 mile & Stephenson location this turned out to be their 3rd -4th violation on cleanliness/food storage etc; Apparently, the one on 14 mile passed because they knew they were next on the list for a visit from the Health Dept. So they had their ducks in a proper row so to speak. SO ..... OMG are you ready for the grand finale?? My parents own a fairy large steel company over in that area. I had not told her about this whole nightmare of this salad stuff. So we went out to dinner my husband & I with my parents and we get on the topic of COL'S & the whole salad thing. My mother had this blank stare, she then proceeded to say, that they were JUST there FOUR days ago and she ordered the Greek salad with the chicken and the SAME thing happened to her!!!!!!
google avatar

Kimmy S.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken pita special and a grilled chicken pita to go and got home to find out that they hadn't put the fries in the bag and were now closed so I couldn't call back. Needless to say, unhappy.
google avatar

Lindsay F.

Yelp
Standard, run of the mill diner. Greasy spoon eatery, bustling and average noise level dinner atmosphere, typical fare. Clean booths, attentive servers, food came out hot but nothing spectacular, nor disappointing. I am not too sure why the category is "American (New)" as the fare really was very typical of what you would find at an American Diner.
google avatar

Christina F.

Yelp
Our church moved to this area a few years ago so we started coming here. I've been here four previous times and *all* the experiences were not good. One time the food was cheap and crappy. The rest of the times, the problem was service or lack thereof. Even the busboy was horrible one time. This time is different! We (party of 8!) were treated like royalty and the food was good too. (What you'd expect!) Brittney greeted us and checked up on us even though she wasn't our Server. (Our server, Shelby, was delightful as well!!) if you want a good family-style meal with top notch service, give the new Col's a try. (I don't recognize ANY staff from previous visits!)
google avatar

Sue J.

Yelp
This place is great. I felt bad because it was virtually empty on a Saturday night at 6pm. Go here! Fresh, quality food. Friendly fast service and a large menu! They are open 24 hours except Sunday. This time I had the club sandwich and hash browns. My mom had the burrito which was huge and loaded with fresh chopped veggies. It was easily enough for 2 meals.
google avatar

Wesley L.

Yelp
A great family restaurant down the street from my work. Great lunch specials! The chicken Greek salad is the best I've had in this area. I love it. The bbq chicken wrap and burgers are delicious. The service is super fast which is good for a fast lunch. Bonn is my favorite waitress!

Sam S.

Yelp
I live nearby and order carry out from this location quite often for my family and I. Whether I'm ordering breakfast, lunch or dinner, the service and food are always top notch. The cost of the food in comparison to the portion is also very reasonable!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
I've only had breakfast there, but everything I've tried has been good and the potion size is large.

Yelp
Just had the best chicken strip pita ever!! I didn't even know it could be approved upon!!
