"Housed in the building that dates back to the late 1800s, the space offers a few different dining experiences. On the casual side, there’s the Tap Room Bar & Grill, with a menu of burgers and sandwiches, salads, and gumbo. The Seiler Bar serves from a polished dinner menu from Wednesday through Saturday. Try the veal chop with truffled potato wedges or the blackened gulf fish meuniere." - Beth D'Addono

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic spot. Food here is great. Patty melt, great. Poutine, great. Wings, great. Excellent beer selection. Quick service on a busy night. The only real criticism is that the servers don't take orders at the table. You have to go to bar to order. Not that it's a problem, but we sat there for a few minutes before we figured things out. Love this place.

Yelp
The Columbia Street Tap Room has long been the go to corner bar in downtown Covington. Located in a vintage building and home to musical entertainment on weekends, it's somewhat of a local institution. My wife and I stopped by on a busy Friday for lunch and enjoyed the efficient and friendly counter service, the sandwiches and draft beers, as well as the laid-back, extremely casual vibe. Don't expect fancy here, but you can expect a tasty sandwich (the All American burger and the patty melt are my favorites) and a good frosty brew.

Yelp
My wife and I have been here a couple of times over the last two months. We come for the beer. But we have had two pretty good eating experiences here. One night we had the wings special and a burger that we split. Both of those were really good. A few of the wings were overcooked, but Otherwise it was a good meal. But then we came for Thursday night steak night. My wife got the ribeye and I got the prime rib sandwich. Until then I had never had a good ribeye at a steak night. They're always chewy and overcooked. This one was cooked perfectly And was incredibly tender. The flavor was fantastic. But my prime rib sandwich was even better. Again it was cooked perfectly. The bread was delicious and soft. Everything was fantastic. And the beer selection is always on point.

Yelp
I decided to drop in and try a burger because people have raved to me about them. I didn't realize the kitchen closed at 2 so i hurriedly ordered a burger and took a seat. People were getting ready for live music and were scurrying around. Nice feeling and atmosphere. The burger arrived and it was delicious! One of the best I have had! I will be back!

Yelp
Food. service and best bar in area. Seen some of the negative comments and they hilarious. If you are not sitting at the bar: read sigb-order FOOD here ya pretentious a holes. And Seiler bar and Tap HAVE THE SAME KITCHEN Good god, you people should stay home. We do not want you out.

larry b.

Yelp
Great music venue. Food not so much. The Seiler bar next door is much better. So enjoy.

Amy G.

Yelp
Solid local place in downtown Covington along historic Columbia Street. What comes along with the great bar foods/sandwiches, and ridiculous selection of craft beers, will be a really great live music venue! Many weekends you can see a fabulous live music act along with the ability to be served great drinks and food. Many Covington locals know this is their "go to"!

Steven D.

Yelp
I've been here a few times. I mainly come here for the craft beer. They have a good selection and always rotating to new Louisiana releases .

Joseph S.

Yelp
Best lunch in Covington. Shrimp Caesar wrap is loaded with fresh shrimp, the dressing is perfect and the wrap tasty. We'll be eating lunch here for a long time.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool looking bar and if I lived in the area I would likely frequent this place. It is a bit confusing as the bar is part of another bar the "Seiler Bar" which as it was explained to me is only open at night and serves more fancy food. I found myself wondering if the people that opened and ran this place might be confused folks from Alabama that need to name their schools/teams multiple things like with Auburn's war eagle, tiger, plainsmen etc. etc. All joking aside there were really nice folks working here and it does seem like a pretty nice joint with a good ambiance. Well I had already eaten half of a Bear's roast beef po boy but I rarely get around this part of the Northshore so I decided to push my limits and get their small burger which was decent but I have most assuredly had far better burgers and this small burger would not compete on the Southshore. Overall I think this would be a cool bar to hangout in but I would probably sample some of the other food before I would try the small burger again and they do have a larger version that might be better and more juicy delicious. I am sad I did not find the patio or even know of it's existence until I read other reviews of this place in more detail after my visit as it was a glorious day and the patio would have been fantastic. I certainly need to further investigate this establishment during proper night time hours.

Yelp
Just your average dive bar. The food was just okay but the drinks were strong. This is definitely a locals place where everybody knows everyone. The crowd is older as well. The music is literally my middle school playlist (think 2005) nobody wants to listen to tswift followed by the pussycat dolls followed by nickel back. Just no. Would I go back? Ehh, It wouldn't be my first choice but if I'm with someone who wants to go I wouldn't protest. Also I don't know why yelp says they're closed today. They are open Saturday during the day and night.

Tatum C.

Yelp
This is one of the least favorite bars I've been to. The terrible way the staff and owners treated a multitude of guests was shocking and disappointing. No one I went with will be coming again.

Angie T.

Yelp
This is a review for the food, not the bar. I stopped in for lunch one day. It was great! They serve american classics and of course, seafood. Here's what I got: Tomato Basil Soup-rich, creamy and perfect. Served with a big dallop of melting butter and french bread to soak all that yummy soup up, this soup isn't low fat by any means but boy is it goood. Buffalo Shrimp app-served with ranch dressing and celery sticks. Very, very good and I'll be back for this dish alone. Club Sandwich-classicly simple and very good. The Tap Room is a good place to have a quick lunch in downtown Covington. Try it if you're in the area.

Marina C.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible service! Rudest management I have even seen. Would never come back again.

Katie G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun night, don't come here. Very rude staff and the bar is overrated. We had more fun at the other bars down the street.

Cody K.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood bar set on the corner of one of the busiest streets in Covington. Everyone here knows somebody. You may not know that couple, but you will by the time you leave the place. The atmosphere here fosters conversation and warmth. Don't let the divey ambiance fool you; the food is fantastic. The gumbo is some of the best I've had in the New Orleans metro, hands down. Fresh Gulf fish, Veal, and tomahawk porkchops also make an appearance worth trying. If you're looking for a place to write home about, you've found it.

John L. H.

Yelp
This is actually a review for the Seiler Bar which is part of, but separate from, the main Tap Room. Seiler Bar is the fancier cousin of the Tap Room. While the Tap Room caters to a younger crowd, Seiler Bar seems to be going for the young professional and somewhat older crowd. This is not a bad thing, unless you're a young malcontent. Because it is affiliated with the Tap Room, the beer selection is excellent. There are several different IPAs, and the bar likes to focus on local brews such as those from Chafunkta Brewing in Mandeville. I had no idea that brewery existed until my last visit to this bar. If beer isn't your thing, there is a large wine list along with all of the premium liquors. My favorite part of the bar is their patio. If the weather is nice it is a great place to sit with friends. It even has a fence that faces the street which makes for excellent people watching on busy nights. If you're in the Covington area and want to avoid the crowds next door, check out the Seiler Bar.

Yelp
I loved this place! We stopped in here to check out a band: Lost in the 60's- a 60's cover band. The space is perfect for a band and it didn't feel cramped at all and there was a lot of space to move around without feeling smothered. The bartenders were nice and they have a nice selection of beers on tap. I didn't even know they served food, but after reading some other reviews I realize I have to go back and actually eat here.

Jimmie R.

Yelp
Maybe I visited some different bar than the other reviewers. For one thing, I had no idea they served food. It wasn't a very friendly place either. Our bartender was OK but it was obvious this was a local hangout spot and no one spoke to us while we were there other than to take our order.

Meagan G.

Yelp
Burgers are great, cooked medium. I love the chili burger. The specials are also excellent. Pictured is lump crabmeat w/ grilled asparagus. Also, a small plate with crawfish pasta. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual.

Lacey D.

Yelp
My experience here was average good, and average service. Nothing was especially terrible. But unfortunately, nothing was especially good. I wouldn't choose to go back, but wouldn't protest if someone else wanted to.

Yelp
Once upon a visit to New Orleans .... I stayed in a town called Covington. One of my best girlfriends, and now resident of this lovely town, was taking me on a nighttime tour of downtown Covington. The clean, quiet sidewalks, the lingering smell of smoke and BBQ in the air, and the rhythm of music starting to fill the dimly lit empty streets. She told me this was the place to have some good beer on a Monday night. Perfect!! We grabbed a spot at the bar, but I did notice that there was an extensive dining area. Indoors, as well as a large outdoor patio. The bar area also had lots of tables, mucho space for dancing and swinging. The beer list was certainly extensive, most of which I had never heard of before, but I was proud to order local Abita Brews. After bobbin my head to the music for a little while, the bartender, who was very attentive, offered to put in some food for us. We enjoyed creole crab cakes with roasted corn, and I had my first SHRIMP PO BOY in like 5 years. Super tasty, just what I wanted. The live music was awesome as well. I was also noticing the lineup of artists that they book from the past, and it looks like some pretty good stuff comes through this town. If you ever find yourself on the Northshore of good ol' Louisianna, find downtown Covington and stop in for a cold Abita!!

Yelp
I'm going to give this review a 5 star which I rarely do but I have to put this in context. I went on a night that was probably the busiest night of the year for The Tap Room/Seiller Bar. We had a group of 8 and sat outside of the Seiler Bar for Dinner. Our expectations were low considering the setting. After being seated, The waitress came up and got the drink order without a hitch. The waiter came up and took the food order which, because everything looked good, we made simple; Every Appetizer except the Alligator dish. Once he left the table we all figured it was going to be a long wait and frankly, we were fine with that since it was more of a drinking occasion anyway. 15 minutes passed and they started bringing out the plates and silverware with the food following shortly thereafter. Pretty astounding considering the standing room crowd and general mayhem all around. How they were even able to assemble a competent wait staff on a night like this is amazing. I would have a hard time posting which of the dishes I liked best. The tuna, beef short rib, blueberry glazed ribs, Shrimp Roumelade, the Fried Green Tomatoes, The Calamari, Oysters en brochette, Crabmeat Tomato salad, were all very good and I'm not saying that in a relative sense because they were so crowded. These dishes were good on a standalone basis. If I came in at 7pm with just my wife and it was not crowded, these dishes would have been remarkable. The fact that they had them out on time and so well presented with great flavor puts these dishes and this restaurant on par with anything on the Northshore. I'm talking sophisticated, nuanced dishes that rival anyone around. Every single person at our table left impressed and I'm talking about a finicky group.

Joe S.

Yelp
1st the staff is as friendly as I've every experienced, all smiles. 2nd Didnt have to wait very long for my food (which was awesome).3rd THE FOOD WAS GREAT. I've been to some fancy places and this by fear is one of the best.

Becky K.

Yelp
During the day the establishment is a restaurant. The food is good and is a decent price. At night it turns into a bar room. There is live music on the weekend. Expect to pay a cover charge, usually about $10. Security is tight and you will not be allowed to bring your drink outside. The bar caters to the 30-50 year old crowd of couples and divorcees alike. Usually shuts down at 1:30am. Casual atmosphere but everyone dresses nice. Dress code enforced.

Catherine P.

Yelp
As far as I'm concerned you shouldn't be able to call yourself a tap room with only 30 beers on tap. Food was great though!

B J.

Yelp
I've frequented this place off and on for years, and I can tell you one thing, this place is now gross. Has the floor EVER been cleaned, has the bar counter ever been cleaned - it is nasty and when I ate lunch at the bar a few weeks ago, two cockroaches were climbing on the bar counter. Food is decent but if you present it in a nasty environment, it doesn't matter. Add to that the bartenders don't give a sh*t about anyone - they could care less about you, what you order, no interest in helping you, etc.

LeeAnn F.

Yelp
The crab claws are to die for - fantastic atmosphere and beautiful bar - the staff was extremely friendly - will definitely return

EJ V.

Yelp
Went to Seiler Bar on Wednesday night. I ordered the striped bass (grilled) on a bed of roasted corn, fingerling potatoes, lemon butter, topped with crab meat. I eat out all the time and at higher end places. The dish was quite possibly the best meal I have had in a year. Complements to the kitchen...

Heather P.

Yelp
As we walked into this place we immediately felt a chill, I thought it was the AC but quickly learned that no, it would be the cold shoulder from every employee. I actually felt like I was bothering the bartender asking for a menu. Then had to basically beg for drinks. Once the food was served had to ask for utensils, OK yes I asked for utensils, wanna guess what I got?? a knife, that was it. Now I did order a burger but there were fries and I tend to like to have a fork. Oh and the burger, while it was asked how I would like it cooked I don't think anyone listened. Wanted med rare and it was about as well done as you could get. Got the bill, paid and was never talked to again. Not thank you, not have a good day, nothing. So if you enjoy rude, non welcoming staff, sub par food then this is the place for you.

Kelly H.

Yelp
So after a several month absence I have started frequenting the Tap Room again. Anyway, I thought I would go ahead and update the review. 3 stars originally - I'm actually conflicted on this - but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and stick with the 3 stars that I gave them nearly two years ago. Why the conflict you ask? How shall I put this - the food quality has kind of gone down. I don't know, It used to better. It's still decent but it kind of ends there - it's decent. Not great. Not terrible, but not great. Service is still friendly at times. And yes, I had forgotten how uncomfortably packed the place can get on weekends with live music. However, I must admit that the bands are usually pretty good! Due to the beer selection, which remains better than average, and the quality of the music I'm sticking with the 3. New bottom line: It's OK. I think my friend John hit the nail on the head - it isn't a bad bar it's just not a great one.

Katie P.

Yelp
My favorite spot in Covington to grab a beer and food. Beer and food specials every Wednesday and live music. Today the crowd is smaller due to the weather. Great spot to wind down at the end of the day.

Shin M.

Yelp
I came here on a Thursday night with two coworkers. There were no open tables so we sat at the bar. The bartender was nice, it was her second day of work. I asked for a non alcoholic drink with pomegranate in it and she gave me basically a pomegranate slushi in a martini glass. It was delicious and I loved it. For my appetizer, I got the crab gumbo. It was ok... it tasted like clam chowder. For my meal, I got the 6 oz filet with potatoes. The potato was completely deep fried but still pretty good. The steak was very good. It was a lovely pink color and very juicy! For dessert, they only had two choices- creme brulee or a lemon tart. I really dislike creme brulee so we got the lemon tart. All I can say is I had one bite and it was tooooo tart. But the steak made this review an overall 5.... I would definitely come back for it!

Wes R.

Yelp
Really a cool little place that's actually a bar I wouldn't mind being in. Not a dive, not pretentious. Somewhere right in that sweet spot. Food is great and prices are as well. Except for 6$ beers.

Danielle W.

Yelp
Very cute little town. Tap house was a nice little place to enjoy a few beers and visit with friends. Service was ok could have been better. Would come back again to try the food.

Shawn L.

Yelp
Too bad I have to give one star. The service here sucks. Most overrated bar in St. Tammany Parish.

JK L.

Yelp
Average dive as previously noted. You order at counter. Why does the poor cook have to serve you the food? Girls at register were not overly friendly. They never update the website on daily specials. It is stuck on Monday! Won't return.

Bill M.

Yelp
Good place to grab a beer and watch the game. We had fried green tomatoes, which was delicious. Had buffalo wings which were just ok. Could have used a little more spice. Beer selection was great. Featured a lot of local breweries.

Nancy R.

Yelp
Tonight ... One ceiling fan working ..... White linen night ......the house was packed with 4up

David S.

Yelp
A lot of folks think of the Tap Room as just a bar but it is much more than that. There are a lot of places to get burgers on the Northshore but the burgers at the Tap Room are the best ones going. In addition their chicken and sausage gumbo is one of the best gumbos I've had in a restaurant. The selection of beers is very good. They rotate in interesting selections quite often and their prices are much better than other local taprooms. Their service is also very good, with bartenders who are willing to help answer and beer questions and a waitstaff that is very hospitable. The only objection that I have is that the live music gets so loud in this place because of the brick walls that it is hard to enjoy music and food with anyone you are interested in conversing with.

Lorryn M.

Yelp
Great food! There is one girl who works (or atleast used to) the lunch shift who has a serious attitude problem but everyone else there seems really friendly. The bar tenders do a great job to serve everyone even on busy nights. Great place for music and drinks

Patrick B.

Yelp
I'm a local Covington resident, and visit the Seiler Bar and Tap Room quite often. Although there are many really good local dining options in the area, we decided to try the Seiler Bar menu on Friday, seated outside on the patio. We had the speckled trout with BBQ shrimp topping, which was absolutely outstanding and our wait service was terrific. I can't recall her name, but she was also working the main bar, and did a great job checking on the party. My only caution: if you don't smoke and don't care to be surrounded by it, dine inside. It's cigar and cigarette central on the patio.

Caroline W.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It has two bars one more like the old public bars they used to have in England, this is where they have the stage set up for the groups that perform here. The other bar leads to the patio which is lit at night with fairy lights so feels very continental. The waiter who served our table was very attentive, we all ordered something different so had the range of the Chicken, Drum and Steak all were very tasty and we finished with the bread pudding which was shared by two. The chef finishes at 9pm which works quite well as the bar can become very busy after then as the live music starts at 10pm. I will be back again

Ashley C.

Yelp
This place used to suck, now its awesome. And no I dont work here! I have noticed a huge difference in the turning around of this business. The food and staff are awesome now. This is my favorite lunch spot with my girl friend in covington! The chicken wrap add veggies, its AWESOME.

Brooke E.

Yelp
My husband and I went here the other day for lunch and we both got the Club sandwich.......it was the BEST club sandwich I've ever had! The meat was juicy and flavorful, the fries were crispy and hot and the beer was cold! It was delicious!

Sayseye N.

Yelp
I see many of the reviews date back to old management, so they're not really useful. I found the food to be excellent and the service pleasant. What impressed me most was the selection of craft beers and the knowledge of the staff about them. best around.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Great food, good beer and wine selection and great staff. Make time for an evening here!

Jim R.

Yelp
Came in hungry at 9:05 and was told kitchen closes at 9:00. The place was not too busy so I think they could have accommodated me.

Kristie M.

Yelp
Good prices on food and drinks. They have nice food specials during the week. I especially like their meatloaf. It's in a good location in Downtown Covington and the environment is very relaxed and casual.

Cherie O.

Yelp
LOVE the Tap Room. food is always good. the chef is creative and the specials are good.
