Ordered from here one rainy Friday night because i didn't want to step outside. They have my favorite cheap bottle of Malbec in stock (Alamos baby!) so I ordered a few bottles to keep in the house. Ordering was super easy online. My doorbell rang less than an hour after ordering and the woman who stood there was literally the cutest, sweetest thing ever (I think her name was Liz?). She works the Friday night delivery shift so I'll definitely be seeing her more often. As soon as i ordered, I also received a 15% off coupon for my next order. Definitely my new go-to place for wine delivery :)

Ten years ago, a friend told me about how she had to return a bad bottle of wine to a wine shop. I remember wondering how bad the bottle could have been for her to return it; only tonight did I realize what she meant. When a group of friends and I went to drink a bottle of the Marqués de Pluma, Ribera del Duero with dinner, we realized it was so acidic that we could not consume it. However, since it was too late to return it, we were left with only water. Given that it was New Year's Eve, it would have been extremely disappointing had we not been prepared otherwise. Eek! Methinks not.

Placed an order online for in store pickup. When I placed the order I received email and text confirmation. Called the store as well to confirm the order. Drove 40 mins to the store only to have them tell me the price is now double. Cashier tried to convince me it wasn't the correct bottle because the label is different. Labels change all the time but it's still the same bourbon. She tells me I can have one bottle for what I paid. Why was the order confirmed and charged if it wasn't correct? I was already paying well over MSRP but now they want to charge over 300% of what some stores are selling it for. I understand the concept of supply and demand but if you're trying to market you business online do it right. Wasted over 90 mins my time plus gas and tolls. STAY AWAY!

Blaming myself now for being lazy. But cmon really Columbia Wine, 3 hours and still waiting for a $60 delivery..called twice each time the delivery person was "on their way". Next time I will save money and time walk across the street to buy from our usual always reliable AC wines and liquors 1045 St. nicholas. They still care about their customers.

I've been using their app for ordering bourbon and wine. Excellent selection. Delivery can take a few hours but they never fail to deliver. Excellent wine selection.

Service is great, they were interested in helping me find a wine I was interested in. I bought an amazing still rosè with a beautiful bottle that can be utilized for other liquids (such as water!)

The price gauging is out of control... $16.99 for the Alamos Malbec when it's $12.99 at a nearby store. $4 difference for the same bottle of wine. Everyone needs to know that they should shop around! "Discounts" don't make up for marking up the prices this much.

So, I've been in the hood for 5 years. I know that Columbia Wine Co. has gone through a plethora of management, employees and staff throughout the years, but they've always been the tried and true wine, beer and sprits company in the hood. They also deliver up until like 11pm or so. That makes them AWESOME and gives them at least 1 out of 5 stars. Today, however, they are BULLSHIT! They did a Rose Wine Tasting event and the consensus was that they were offering 10% off purchase of the featured wine. That sounded great, I tasted some awesome wine, I came with 3 friends, we ALLLLLLLL purchased wine. Crazy thing is none of us were given the 10% discount. We all were rung up by "Clerk 080" and she conveniently forget there was an event going on. Listen, I don't mind paying for quality but a wine tasting, the whole point, is to introduce people to new wine and spirits, and often times offer discounts so folks will purchase a bottle of something they would not have otherwise been able to afford or would have known about. To not apply the discount is shady and down right dishonest. I even asked the chick if she applied the discount and she said, YES. I'm looking at my receipt now, I see the cost of the wine, I see the tax, and I see the total, what I DON'T SEE is the 10% discount. It is what it is, I honestly don't wanna deal with the nonsense of having to call, discuss, and even possibly have to go back up there so I'm leaving a YELP in response. What gets me, what pisses me off and honestly disgusts me, isn't the mistake its the arrogance of her having the chance to rectify the situation and she CHOOSING not to. Again, I specifically asked if she applied the "10% Rose Fest Discount" and she specifically said, YES. So, what else was I supposed to do? UNFORTUNATELY my recipe is saying something different. Anyway, that said, I'm sure people are going to continue to frequent this place because it's convenient and they deliver, which is a MUCH welcomed convince, however, FYI there is another wine store between 174th and 175th in the 4100 block of Broadway called PALACE WINE AND LIQUEURS. It's chill, the prices are just as good if not better, and they are nice and helpful. To be fair the manager (I'm assuming she was the manager) at Columbia was REALLY nice and sweet, we had some good conversation, but loosing money is loosing money, and that's never a game I want to play! I don't care how nice people are. Just an FYI... CHECK YO RECEIPTS!

Great neighborhood wine and liquor store! I've been coming here for years and am a big fan. The store itself is nice and clean, with a good selection. I'm not primarily a wine drinker, so for me they have plenty. I am, however, a bourbon man and their selection is pretty good! They're also keen to help you or give you recommendations. On occasion, I have seen tastings and samples, which is fun. They also have delivery, how cool is that? Several times I've called them up and had hooch delivered to the crib. The were also open during snow storm Stella, so bonus points for that. Just because there's a blizzard doesn't mean I'm not tryin' to get my swerve on! All in all, great shop, keep up the good work!

After every bad day, I am faced with a decision on my walk from the A to my apartment: "It's been a bad day, should I treat myself with some wine? You know you'll have a happy experience..." I have enough self-control that I don't come in here every day, BUT Columbia Wine Company does a really fantastic job of enticing me. They have an unbelievable wine selection that may even be overwhelming for some. The staff is so friendly, though, that they will help you find what you're looking for & even offer their own recommendations. A selection of hard liquor is behind the cash register, in case you're not really in the mood for the grape juice. They also have free wine tastings several nights per week, & if you end up purchasing one of the wines you taste, you get 10% off. Also, there's a REWARDS CARD. Yep. There are discount incentives to your weekly bottle of vino! I see there seem to be a lot of negative reviews for their delivery service. Honestly, since I live so close, I'll probably never utilize it. If I ever order a wine delivery from a store that's a block away, I'll probably strongly reevaluate my life choices. But...never say never, right? Although I'm disappointed in the nightlife, the grocery stores, & the laundromats of this area, thank God I at least have a reliable liquor store!

NOT happy at all. First it took 2:30 hours to get my order. I ordered a bottle of Svedka and Fuki Plum wine. After about an hour I called to see what is going on and the girl tells me that she had been trying to call me because they don't carry the wine. I had no missed calls but whatever. I then replaced the order with a white Zinfindale but when we the order finally arrived, not only did they send some different plum wine instead but my vodka was some Stolich brand or some shit. No thank you to this place, I will never order from here again.

Nice wine shop one block from CUMC. It has a pretty sleek look that reminds me more of an art gallery than a wine shop, which is not necessarily a good thing (I prefer wine shops that give a warm vibe). A pretty solid, albeit not particularly adventurous, selection of wines. Reading the other reviews it seems that they jacked up their prices lately; I certainly didn't find it particularly cheap, considering the location. It's more like 3 1/2 stars for me.

This store is fantastic. It's so inviting, the staff is always so nice and polite, and incredibly helpful. I've found my two new favorite wines bc of this place. They have wine tastings pretty frequently and are more than happy to have you try all of them, and a pretty good amount of them too :) Great prices. Very organized. Selection is unbeatable (they have EVERYTHING) The atmosphere is nice too. Not a typical liquor store that you usually find in WH. It reminds me of something you'd find in a small southern town, just a little more modern. You should go here, definitely & Highly recommended !

Wow, what a great neighborhood find, great wine. Very helpful staff will give any suggestions. The bourbon, rye and scotch selection is awesome. I prefer bourbon so that's great to see. Cool place and good prices. They have a discount table in the back that's worth checking out. Overall great spot, great help and great selection for a neighborhood joint. Oh yeah and they deliver!

I walked in today to buy wine today and the staff was arguing with each other. I was pursuing the rose section which is by the stairs and the employees kept pushing by me rudely, even though they could have walked around me. It was frustrating to have them yelling at each other around me so I just left. I would rather just go somewhere else if that's how this store is gonna operate. Also they were all eating pizza on the floor in front of everyone. I would be horrified if this was my store. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

Everyone was really friendly and welcoming and the girls behind the counter as well as who I believed was the owner helped me pick out a bottle of wine after a particularly bad night. They were right on the wine of course, but next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to get some more from them!

Attempted order via delivery.com. Order was confirmed by Columbia. An hour after placing order, called to be told that they were backed up and orders were just going out. Hours later, when order still not received, I called Columbia and was told they never received the order. Calling delivery.com, they claim order was placed and confirmed. They called Columbia to be told that order was likely misplaced. TL;DR - Placed order with Columbia via delivery.com and never received goods.

Maaaan. No one Acknowledged me. I literally came to washington heights to shop for my library as I do every December. I just left The New Bennett Wines with a bottle of Glenlevit 21 and a Lagavulin for waaaaay less than my neighborhood Wine Shop. You would think the staff would notice the tan of the wood, the burgundy of the box and the or the large rectangular shape of the box stretching the plastic bag to it's limits because of the Lagavulin. People no longer Value customer service or even value the service they are providing. For anyone reading this, you can go to Brands on 145th Street near Broadway, I got a Glenlevit XXV for $275 after leaving this joint, they also have a great wine selection from local vineyards. I will say, I bought two bottles of Glenrothes from this place last year, and the older guy who helped me acknowledged everyone while still helping me.

Once again they've closed deliveries early. This inconsistency in delivery times creates a bad impression of the business. Update: I placed another delivery order and received a call shortly after my order. I called back thinking they may want to apologize but in fact the manager Christian called to ask that I change my review. Nothing else no "I'm sorry sir", no "How can we rectify the problem." After agreeing to change it Christian responded "ok then I'll send the order out now." I guess they think it's ok to strong arm their customers into good reviews. I agreed to change my review so I'm gonna do just that. I called today to speak with management after refusing to give me an email address I was "banned" by Christian. How this little punk ever got a management job is beyond me.

I'm so lucky that I live down the street from this wine store! Every person who works here is so friendly and helpful. My family was visiting NYC so I wanted to buy a nice bottle of wine for us to split. Monica helped me find the perfect wine for my price range. They also offer a punch card-so the more you shop, the more you save. Amazing wine amazing customer service, check it out!!

I'm really not understanding how they have people working there without a mask. I started to go in but when I saw the tall guy with no mask I turned the other way. No mask....No wine.

I always find an excuse to make my way here. There's a great selection of wines and great customer service. I always get great wine recommendations from Chris. I have not attended their wine tastings nor whiskey tastings--but it's on my to do list. I highly recommend visiting! :)

A wine and liquor store with a SELECTION? In Washington Heights?! YES. Dozens if not hundreds of different kinds of wine are stocked in this store. The staff have all been very pleasant and very knowledgable, and the occasional wine tasting that happens is always nice too. Plus, their liquor selection doesn't JUST include the old standbys - they import liquors from all over the place. Thank heavens for this place - I just wish I was a Columbia student, so I could get the 15% discount! Ugh!

Company does not honor the price listed on line. Was offered a comprise instead. BUYER BEWARE!! Poor service and lack of respect for customers. Poor representation of the community....

Wait... a store with alcohol, in The Heights, without bulletproof glass windows at the register? You had me at "hello." Yeah, yeah, yeah it's all apart of that gentrification monster I hate so much but sometimes, even in all the bad stuff we find something good right? Like this place! It's classy fo' cheap! Their prices are fair, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, plus they have a good selection. What more can you ask for? Hurry up and buy! Keep them in business! Pick up a drinking habit! Actually they can help you with that, as they have wine tastings some evenings from 5pm-8pm.

I honestly don't know how this place gets any good reviews. Currently I am waiting on an order I placed about 2 hour ago (for the 3rd time). When I called the store the woman on the phone barely apologized about the wait and said it would be about another 20 minutes. I work in customer service and I would never treat my guests the way this company does.

Columbia Wine Company is one of those rare gems that just happens to be hidden in Washington Heights, out of all places! It's located right off the 168th subway station (A,C,1) . Personally, I think this place is amazing because they have a variety of wines to choose from and the prices are decent. You won't find another place this far up that offers such a vast array of wine selection without breaking the bank. The staff is extremely friendly, as well.

Being a wine lover, one of the first places I tried when I moved to the Heights was Columbia Wine Company. I now go there at least once a week. I can't say enough wonderful things about the store. They have an amazing selection of wine and spirits, including two delicious vodkas that are inexpensive (White Nights and Sobieski), St. Germaine, Mamajuana, and Tanteo, an incredible infused tequila. They have wine (and sometimes spirits) tastings Th-Sat 5-8 so I always get to try something new. Victor and Humberto are incredibly friendly and helpful and I have never felt that they looked down on me for not being able to afford more than $15 for a (good!) bottle of wine. In fact, it's the only store in my neighborhood where I can walk in and be greeted by name. It's cool to be able to call them my friends. I highly recommend Columbia Wine Company. They're the best of the best.

This place used to be great. I remember when the owner was there often and he helped you pick wines. Now the staff is miserable and they don't know anything about wine. How can you be miserable surrounded by wine and how do you have staff that don't know wine? Bottles were dusty and the selection is okay.

This is not the closest liquor store to my apartment (that distinction goes to the liquor bodega on 177 and bway where you walk into a bulletproof cube and make your selections by pointing), but it is the best. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly and they have a nice selection of wines in a good range of prices. Lots of solid bottles under $10 which is great, plus some really good values in the $10-$15 range. Also a decent selection of liquor. Plus the experience of shopping here is just so damn pleasant, which is in sharp contrast to the rest of the immediate neighborhood's liquor options that you've just gotta love this place.While this would probably be a 4 star anywhere else, for the neighborhood, it's an easy five.

Nice wine store. Good to have in the neighborhood. Hours are great. Two issues, though. First, some of the staff can be pretty juvenile sometimes. Too much messing around. Makes some customers feel uncomfortable. Plus, most of the staff don't know that much about wine (though a couple do). Second, prices are pretty high. For instance, I can get a bottle of Joel Gott cabernet sauvignon for $15-$19 at most wine stores in Manhattan. But it's $21 here. Dr. Loosen riesling usually sells for $12-$13, but it's $15 here. On average, this place seems to charge 20-25% more than other wine stores in Manhattan. Not sure why.

I'm pleased to have added awesomeness to report! My partner and I celebrate our anniversary the other week. Unfortunately, we didn't think to pick up wine before heading out to dinner. But we wanted to make sure that we had our brand without lugging the magnum around all night. So we popped in to Columbia and asked if they'd hold a bottle for us to pick up on way back from dinner. They were 100% helpful! We bought the bottle, they tagged it with our info, and the cleark even recognized us when we came back in to the store. You've definitely solidified my business, Columbia!

Seconding Michael C. on this one. Finally -- a liquor store in the Heights that doesn't put two sheets of bulletproof glass between you and its salespeople. This place is a massive improvement over every booze seller within a thirty block radius. The classiness is palpable here. But Columbia Wine also manages to avoid pretension, mainly by emphasizing friendly service and, more importantly, cheap but high-quality wine. The owner clearly knows what he's doing -- my group bought several bottles, all under $10, all tasting like they should have cost much more. The cherry on top is its selection of relatively exotic liquors, like Sagatiba cachaca, previously unseen out of Brazil, and Brugal, the Dominican rum. My only gripe: couldn't they have come up with a more original name?

Actually, one of the nicest wine/liquor stores I've been to in Manhattan. The service is very friendly and there is plenty of variety. Do it.

I really like this wine shop. Good selection and good prices. The staff is helpful and know their wines, so they help me make better wine purchases. They're also nice people and I like going there for their free wine tasting too.

A cute seller of (mostly) wine and (some) spirits just steps away from the Columbia Medical Center campus. The store is very clean when compared with the other stores in the area and the staff that work there are pretty knowledgeable about the products they offer and are eager to find you a good match. The wines are organized by regions (although some folks may not notice the highly positioned labels) and the liquors, etc are grouped by similarities. Yes, yes, I know the name says "wine" but still I wish that their selection of foreign liquors (sake, soju, etc) would be a bit more extensive.
