"Everything about the Columbian Country Club is a big mood, from the sexy, curvy wooden bar to the black and white celebrity shots that dot the walls. The biggest mood of them all is the B.A. Sundae — and it takes some big dessert energy to order an ice cream sundae at a chic cocktail bar. It comes with a bruleed banana, Ferrero Rocher chocolates, ganache, and, as a finisher, gets topped with an amarena cherry. Partner it with one of the many house martinis, a glass of Champagne, or go hard and get a Senor Harvey Wallbanger made with mezcal." - Courtney E. Smith
"The squat, concrete building housing this bar doesn’t look like anything at all from the outside, but the inside is stunning. Dim lighting cascades over lush velvet and leather seating, textured wallpaper, and quirky black-and-white photos of Hollywood stars from bygone eras that dot the walls. It is a cocktail bar for the most part, but it does offer a menu of bar bites, including bao buns, crab dip, cobbled eggs (its take on deviled eggs), and excellent garlic fries. The space is set up for solo acoustic musicians and DJs, and there is a hidden light-up dance floor under the carpet that can be unveiled for the reception. The space is small, so it’s best for weddings and receptions of a similar scope." - Courtney E. Smith
"This Old East Dallas spot has been enticing folks from the West side of 75 out to party. The windowless space is lushly decorated with rich fabrics and has an old-school, beautiful bar. Come early for cocktails and live music nightly, or come late when they literally roll up the carpets and turn on the dance floor (reservations are highly recommended and frequently required). The cocktails tend toward classics, like the cosmopolitan, Old Fashioned, and Harvey Wallbanger. It also has an array of martinis, which is the house’s specialty. There are free valet services." - Courtney E. Smith
"Columbian Country Club is keeping it very exclusive for New Year’s Eve. Tickets priced at $400 per person and have limited availability — get them by coming in and purchasing. The bar is all-inclusive, the appetizers will be passed, festive party favors shall be handed out, and a midnight Champagne and caviar toast will happen. There will be a DJ and a dance floor. What else could a person want?" - Courtney E. Smith
