The Best Bars in Dallas

"This Old East Dallas spot has been enticing folks from the West side of 75 out to party. The windowless space is lushly decorated with rich fabrics and has an old-school, beautiful bar. Come early for cocktails and live music nightly, or come late when they literally roll up the carpets and turn on the dance floor (reservations are highly recommended and frequently required). The cocktails tend toward classics, like the cosmopolitan, Old Fashioned, and Harvey Wallbanger. It also has an array of martinis, which is the house’s specialty. There are free valet services." - Courtney E. Smith, Kevin Gray

The 12 Hottest New Cocktail Bars in DFW

"Elegant cocktails in Old East Dallas? Yeah, it’s possible. This New York-style martini bar and tequila lounge was inspired by a historic Jewish country club in Dallas of the same name that closed in 2004, after 100 years. It features loads of decor from the original country club, and a menu flush with excellent gins and tequilas." - Courtney E. Smith

Holiday Restaurant Openings in Dallas Include Shodo Sushi and Cenzo’s Pizza - Eater Dallas

"Then there’s Columbian Country Club, which will open on Ross Ave. in East Dallas on December 22. Owners Brian Rutt, Justin Kallhoff, and Jonathan Rosenberg, partners in Alice, the Asian-fusion restaurant which is just around the corner, were inspired to create it in honor of a 19th-century Jewish country club of the same name. The mission on its website is also 'to capture the essence of New York City’s golden era and the timeless allure of the martini.' So, obviously, the martini menu rolls deep, with other classic cocktails and a curated array of Champagnes and wines featured. The bites also veer towards classic meets homey. There’s caviar served Texas style, a parmesan bagel, and Nonnie’s Doozie (a turkey pastrami sandwich on marbled rye)." - Courtney E. Smith

Google
Tried out Colombian Country Club in Dallas and overall had a great time. The food and drinks were solid. Service was friendly and on point too. Only downside was the music being super loud, which made it tough to hold a conversation at times. Still, the vibe was fun and we’d come back again.

Google
Such a cute little cocktail bar, I wish we would have made a reservation especially for a Saturday night because we had to stand in the standing area. The drinks were great, it’s a moody setting, perfect for date nights, and they had live music. Bonus that they have matches, I love collecting them. I’d definitely come back.

Google
Made reservations for a table a few days in advance (highly recommended) and walked right it just before 10pm. It’s a small space but we still really enjoyed the vibe. A live band was playing British rock, our server was friendly and efficient, and the crowd was energetic and fun to hang with. Saw plenty of people turned away for both having reservations, and there was only a small line waiting to get in. Yeah, this is a club where you better dress the part or plan ahead but those are sometimes the best kind of

What a great place for cocktails and conversation! The service was excellent and I greatly appreciated the staff’s immediate resolution to the reservation challenge. The sushi was delectable. Fresh and delicious. We let our attendant choose and it was amazing!

Amy is an angel. She helped me find my phone and she’s just overall an amazing cocktail waitress. I love the vibes here , it’s a hidden gem. 💎

I’m so disappointed with the service of this place. One of the security guys inside of the venue was extremely rude to me and my friend as soon as we walked in. We were by first bar ordering a drink when he was hand selecting who was going to the main room when I asked if we could get in as well he said “they were here first and you are not going to tell me how to do my job” Wow super rude! Then he went and told my friend she could get in and that he was talking to her and not me. The bartender saw the whole interaction that gave us complementary shots and apologized for him. It was my friend first time and believe me we are not coming back. The venue is beautiful, the music was okay but the terrible service made the experience terrible.

Google
Pros: bartenders make excellent drinks and are attentive. Vibes are fun. DJ is cool! Cons: Security picks and chooses who he lets in with improper dress code. My fiancé had nice shorts and a polo and was denied entry - “no shorts allowed”. Came inside another night and this other dude had cutoff jeans shorts on and another with shorts and a t-shirt on. There are literally two (2) single stall, unisex restrooms in the entire establishment. Be prepared to wait in a line! Ridiculous.

Google
I had a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience at this establishment. From the moment I walked in, I was met with an unfriendly attitude, but the situation quickly escalated when I had to interact with the manager—a gentleman from Argentina. His behavior was shockingly unprofessional, laced with condescension and blatant discrimination. Rather than assisting me or addressing my concerns with any level of courtesy, he spoke to me with hostility and made several inappropriate, dismissive remarks that felt personally targeted. His tone and body language were aggressive, and he made me feel completely unwelcome. It was clear I was being treated differently than other customers, and it left me feeling humiliated and angry.

Yelp
What a lovely bar. The bartender knew the obscure drinks on my Top 100 cocktails list. Super comfy, not overpriced, and live music (but not overpowering with sound). Will definitely come back. Tip, make a reservation for the good seats.

Yelp
Mixed feelings!! First, the entrance is a little scary. It's in the back of a building, almost in an alley, so you feel like your Uber driver is getting ready to murder you. Luckily, there is security outside. Once you're inside though, complete 180. The entire place gives old Hollywood, 1920's vibes. I came around 8pm on a Friday night & the place was empty for the first hour. They had a live musician on the piano & he took our song requests so that was fun. The staff are super friendly and attentive. Once it got busy, there was a mix of people coming in, mainly girl groups or date nights. They don't have a large food menu, just a few appetizers. The vegetarian options are fries & bagel bites. It was all delicious! I would give this a place another chance & come back later in the night.

Yelp
I came in on a Saturday night around 9:30 and got placed in a standing spot since there were no more tables or bar spots available without a reservation. This was fine for me since I prefer standing anyways. The ambience and decor was classy and posh around the main bar area. They limit the crowd so you can actually move around, but you feel somewhat confined to the area that you are assigned to which isn't ideal if you're looking to mingle outside your group. All the cocktails are around $20. I didn't think the old-fashioned was anything special but the mazel tov Mezcal drink was superb. The live music they had that night was excellent. Tips: The valet and entrance are around the back. You should probably make a reservation.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful experience. The appetizers were delicious as were the drinks. My friend had a Paloma no alcohol and I had a mojito. The manager was so professional and kind to us simple moms from near Denton. We listened to Danny Joseph in one of the most elegant and cozy bars! Such a fun and memorable experience. We look forward to returning soon.

Yelp
This place is a true hidden gem, once you turn into the parking lot you will see the entrance it is at the back of the building. The staff greets you outside and offers valet parking. At first, the host at the door didn't seem very welcoming, giving off a bit of an attitude--no eye contact, short responses, and a vibe that suggested we didn't belong. However, once we were seated, Edona E completely changed my perception. She was an exceptional waitress--sociable and attentive, making us feel valued rather than just another table to serve. Edona checked on us frequently to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The drinks were excellent; I started with the Colombian margarita, then had the Cosmo, and I can't resist my favorite, lemon drop the "Baller Lemon Drop Martini was a hit." This was our last stop for the night, we came mainly for the drinks and music this time. I'll definitely return and try the bites on the menu as well. I would recommend this establishment to others ! See you again Edona thanks bunches "Tru"

Yelp
This was a super cool cocktail bar that I checked out with my friend. We were seated in a corner booth. I ordered the Pink Lady cocktail and my friend got an Espresso Martini. My drink was fine but the ambiance of the place was great.

Yelp
We popped into this spot for post-dinner drinks and dessert on a Wednesday evening. We were highly impressed with the bar, bar tenders, drinks and dessert trio we ordered. The desserts were fantastically portioned and delicious. There was live music via a pianist in the back of the restaurant which really added to the speakeasy-vibe of the restaurant. The space is a bit small, but the ambiance, music and staff truly make it a fantastic spot!

Yelp
Trendy cocktails in a swanky space. When we went, the live music wasn't too loud for the small lounge which was a plus. Our service was good, but note that they don't split checks for groups.

Yelp
We loved it! We went early and the drinks were amazing! Our server recommended food choices and all of them were phenomenal. The decor is really cozy and beautifully done. It was so hard to believe it is where Bar and Garden was. We left right as live music started - good timing for us as I do think that would have been a little loud for us. I want to get a group and go again.

Yelp
I have already been here 3 times and they just opened! The ambiance right when you walk in is stunning, so classy and a beautiful interior. The drinks are always great, strong and flavorful! I haven't had too much from their food menu, but they have good snack options. Service is also good, the wait staff is attentive to you. I love the live music as well. Definitely recommend for a nice cocktail night out!

Yelp
colombian country club is a sister location to alice. they are both very posh and stylish places to get cocktails. i went to ccc on a saturday night. i would recommend making a reservation, because they do not take walk ins. but if you chance it and try to walk in, and you are declined just go around the corner to alice! this is a cocktail bar, so definitely expect to pay upwards of $15/cocktail. the service is very friendly and stylish. there is a tiny dance floor which i find nostalgic, and they have lil tables to sweet talk a date. it's dark and intimate. so definitely a great date spot! unfortunately, i was unable to have any food because the kitchen closes at 12a... i plan to visit again... a lil earlier because i have my heart set on the caviar items on the menu!

Yelp
Stunning bar! Crowd was a good age not super young or old. Staff was attentive despite it being a busy Saturday night. Live band was great! Drinks were good slightly expensive!

Yelp
Hidden gem off of Ross Avenue. Posh, retro supper club vibe. Live music that you can have a conversation over. Really nice drink menu, not too hipstah. Limited food selection but suits the room.

Yelp
Fun vibe and beautiful bar. Service left something to be desired -- not overly attentive or friendly. We came on a Saturday night and they had a DJ playing so it was incredibly loud. I couldn't even hear myself think. They take reservations and have lots of seating but there were a lot of people standing around. It didn't seem like that kind of bar and it made the experience very chaotic and cramped. Drinks were good, albeit a bit pricey.

Sergio S.

Yelp
Guy at door was asking for cash .. worse experience ever. He acted like we didn't see was he was doing .. I do not recommend this to anyone unless you $100 with you ... this place is bad so bad !!

Jenna R.

Yelp
Seriously the worst place ever. Drinks are disgusting, and cockroaches are everywhere. Will never spend my money here ever again, they were very discriminating against my friends. The door guy was actually pretty nice though and hope he finds a better job.

Yelp
What a cute lounge! I went here for a nightcap after dinner on a Saturday night. Very cool concept and space. The live music adds the perfect touch. I will note, be sure to make a reservation as it does get pretty packed! Definitely the spot to be.

Jane M.

Yelp
We made a reservation but we were running a tad late and they were very accommodating when we called about it. The service and drinks were great. The live music was a cool vibe but a tad loud for the atmosphere. Overall, we had a super fun night and would go back!

Yelp
Wood grain with leather seats. Windows so dark need a flashlight to see...it certainly fits the mold of gilded age America. Hoping the concept is the right fit for the neighborhood and it thrives. It will feel warm, comfortably worn, and casually cozy in no time.

Alex G.

Yelp
It has a great atmosphere but the wait was ridiculous. I made an appointment for 11:15 and did not get sat until 12:10. I was very disappointed. Because we weren't sat for a while we decided not to order food and just get a drink. I do wish they would have sat us at an appropriate time because then I would have had a better time.

Bobby A.

Yelp
DISHONEST PLACE. This place stole from me, didn't own up to it, and refuses to give me a call back. I was persuaded to purchase a "VIP Membership" bottle which they flaunt allows you to have your bottle on hand for future visits to drink from, to skip the wait without a reservation, and attend special member only events. A few friends also bought their own bottles, some multiples. I moved away from downtown Dallas so had not been in a while but I showed up in December without having been since the summer. Surprise, surprise they can't find my bottle I purchased which are supposed to be locked up front with name tags. I then got accused in front of my two guests of "you must have drank it all" and have it brushed off. I have only been three times prior and used the bottle on those visits to invite a guest for a drink so that's not at all correct since that is only six drinks and a bottle is approximately twice as many drinks. This place has zero accountability and doesn't care. The bartender that was not waiting on us that day then grabs a used bottle from the shelf and tries to give me what's left in the bottle (respectable but not after being insulted and accused by the waitress). My two guests and I on this visit got up and left. I asked for the manager to call me about the missing "VIP membership" bottle. No call back. After a month, I get a text from them about a special member only event coming up so I respond again asking for a call back about the missing bottle but still no response. They clearly don't care about anything other than upselling you and taking your money upfront. No one has called me, they took my money and failed to provide the service and product they sold. Great concept, horrible execution, zero responsibility, and failure of management. Avoid this place. The other reviews go to show how disorganized and dishonest this place is.

Jackline M.

Yelp
Two stars. Ambiance and live music. Sat at the table for over 30 minutes no waiter insight. The audacity of a cleaner to place his knee right on my booth seat and clean a mirror behind me is ridiculous. Where is the all the dust particles going right in my drink. Cleaning should be done before your patron's arrive. Such a shame would not be back.

Steven W.

Yelp
Rude and unprofessional service. Made a reservation but seated people waiting in line without a reservation before us and then tried to stick us in the bar area, which was not what we reserved. Management had no clue what they were doing and were condescending and unapologetic - making the situation even worse. There are too many nightlife options in Dallas to put up with this basic BS.
