Columbus Circle

Middle of the road. — Columbus Circle is a powerful lesson that history is rarely simple. As you walk through this iconic location, you are in a space where pride & pain, celebration & condemnation, exist side-by-side. I wish I had known about the Holiday Market going on here, before I went to Bryant Park. Wonderful gift and food vendors without all of the chaos and crowds. I mean, go to BP for sure, but go to Columbus Circle first!

Columbus Circle is ready for Christmas. Great shops but it could use a merchandising mix. Whole Foods great place to take a break for soup etc.

Columbus Circle is a busy and iconic area at the southwest corner of Central Park, surrounded by the Time Warner Center, shops, restaurants, and transit options. It’s a convenient spot for sightseeing, shopping, or grabbing a quick bite. The atmosphere is lively, especially with the constant flow of locals and tourists, and it’s very accessible from nearby streets and subway lines. A vibrant, central, and perfect place for combining sightseeing with nearby attractions.

The monument to Christopher Columbus was installed in 1892. It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1857. I went there at dawn.

As a tourist when I rose up from subway that didn’t smell so good onto the surface level it felt like I’ve arrived in another world with grand and shiny skyscrapers and mega malls. It’s a good starting point for a city walk in New York city and I walked from here to Time square then to grand central terminal. The walk wasn’t too long and all the sights along the way were very engaging. It’s really an amazing city.

Safe. To walk Nice scenery.. closeby are .. horse carriages .. you can drive around ..(At central.park).. ..alot of high end hotels

If Christopher Columbus would have land here today, he would have certainly lost his mental balance. Surrounding a beautifully crafted Traffic circle are iconic skyscrapers touching the sky like the giant redwood trees. On it's steps are cute food trucks vending food from all over the world, we had Pizza from an Egyptian American. And at the entrance of the Central Park, that stretched from here till eternity, were Cycle Rikshaws pulled by Hindi speaking young men. Overall a great place to start your exploration of the NYC.
