The 10 Best New Restaurants in Florence, Italy - Eater

"Europe has a tough time with Vietnamese cuisine, but this Florence outpost is making earnest strides thanks in part to its chef’s close ties to Vietnam. (A chef’s association in Ho Chi Minh City sent a few representatives oversee the early menu and kitchen training.) Here, regional Vietnamese dishes are served in a minimalist tearoom in the heart of Florence’s Santa Croce quarter. Expect delicate bowls of pho, vermicelli spring rolls, flat dumplings imbued with lemongrass, and tamarind shrimp plates. The imported tea selection includes unique lotus and artichoke varieties. Finish it off with a slice of banana-coconut cake." - Coral Sisk

Best pho and best tea I have ever had! The vegan pho is amazing. You have to come here. They even have WiFi. The place was very busy in the evening but you can reserve online.

Google
Amazing and authentic Pho. The soup and broth was so good. Recommend the beef pho and the chicken pho if you don't eat beef. The staff was super nice.

Google
Absolutely delicious. The flavors were fresh and balanced just like they describe with their focus on yin and yang. You can really taste the care in every dish. The prices were great too especially considering the quality. A fantastic spot if you're looking for real Vietnamese food done right. Highly recommend.

Google
We tried 2 different Pho’s (beef and chicken), entree rolls and desserts- all were fantastic! Full of flavor, fresh and very tasty. Service was very friendly and super efficient for a busy restaurant.

Google
Food and service good Summer roll with their sauce was good. Pho tasted home made and not from packet. Bun cha was enjoyable. Artichoke tea is good for cold weather . We also had their ginger lemongrass. Much needed for us asians to warm up 😁

Google
I really want to love thid restaurant since it’s the only (?) Vietnamese restaurant in Florence, but the visit here fell short of my expectation. They use some typical Vietnamese flavours in their dishes, at the same time there were many things that make the dishes lacklusting. Pho was lacking taste, wasn’t served with hot sauce or fermented garlic. The glass noddles in seafood salad were overcooked. The filling in spring rolls was too thick and chewy. The lemongrass ginger tea was served cold and reminded me of hand washing water. The portion is very small so we had to order a lot. The waiter was friendly but he smoked outside the restaurant. I was craving for Vietnamese foods while in Italy but sadly this restaurant didn’t help much.

Google
As a Vietnamese family from Australia we were missing our Vietnamese food and came across Com Saigon as it was close to our place. The pho was delicious super flavourful with fresh meat. The meat was perfectly cooked too. The rice and pork was also very good. Service was good and outdoor seating was fun.

Google
Very good vietnamese restaurant. High quality and varied food, many options for vegans. Only negative thought: expensive vegan rolls considered the number

Yelp
We are a Vietnamese family from Houston, Texas, visiting Italy for the first time. After 10 days of pasta, pizza, and sandwiches, we were all dying for some pho and com. This is the only Vietnamese restaurant we found in Florence. Our expectations were low but we pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes offered. We sampled many dishes: egg rolls, spring rolls, Banh Khot, Banh Beo, Bo Kho, pho Tai, Com Thit Nuong, Canh Chua Tom, Cafe sua da. As expected, none were outstanding, but they all were good enough to satisfy our craving. The owner/chef is Vietnamese. If you're looking for your Vietnamese food fix, give this restaurant a shot.

Yelp
As a Vietnamese American visiting from USA, I was thrilled to find a Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered the lemongrass beef and pho tai. The beef was really good. The pho was good too but the broth was not on par with what I'm used to from the states. That doesn't mean it's not good to other people. Maybe their broth is on par with European pho broth. That I can't answer. The service was very attentive. Maybe it's cause I spoke Vietnamese with them. And thankfully I was able to speak Vietnamese since I don't speak Italian. But I did notice the server providing excellent service to other tables around us.

Yelp
Walked by while strolling though the city and made a spontaneous reservation for the next day. Ironically, it was probably the best meal we ate in Florence. The owner was the most gracious man and he made sure our dinner was perfect. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh and served with a smile. We ordered two types of summer rolls, eggplant with crispy shallots, ginger tofu and a seafood salad. I am not sure why there are negative reviews about this restaurant and I would highly recommend giving it a try. Fantastic meal and amazing cocktails too!

Yelp
Order took 45 min when the server said it would take 15 min. We ordered pho to go, it was packed cold. Basically I waited 45 min for cold pho.

Yelp
Had dinner here with friends and was pretty pleased so came back another time for lunch by myself. I asked for a table for 1 with no reservation and was just told "no" by a white man who seemed like the owner, and he then just proceeded to walk away without any explanation or anything. I had to stand there and wait for him to get back to ask him "why no?" and he very aggressively and rudely said "look around it's full" without even giving me a chance to wait for a table. I said I can wait considering that there was 1.5 hrs left till closing, but he said "no" and then immediately said something to the other employees next to him in Italian that was clearly about me. I understand that I did NOT have a reservation and that is why I may have not gotten seated immediately. But never in any restaurant have I been to treated me so RUDELY with a one word answer of "no". Additionally, restaurants always (at least in my experience) give a wait time for a walk-in table. The fact that I was literally told ONLY "no" and "look around it's full"and basically shoo'ed away by the owner is just unbelievable. Another real issue was the difference between how he treated the women in front of me who are WHITE versus me an ASIAN woman. He was incredibly nice to them but was EXTREMELY rude to me. For a restaurant that makes money off of ASIAN FOOD, it is incredibly ironic that the white male owner is fairly rude to Asian customers. I never make negative reviews like this but this had to be said. Just absolutely the worst restaurant experience I've had in the world period. Being an Asian in a country like Italy is already challenging, so I usually seek out Asian restaurants as they tend to be much nicer. To have this VIETNAMESE and ASIAN restaurant have an EXTREMELY rude owner is incredibly disappointing. Will absolutely not come here and would NOT recommend this restaurant at all unless you wanted to treated terribly by the owner.

Yelp
Incredibly rude owner/host. Told us there were no tables left for the night at 9pm (for a place apparently open until midnight) yet other locals just walked up without reservations and got seats. We ended up getting takeout which was just so so. The owner kept cursing us in Italian for us standing there waiting for our food.

Yelp
Best (and only) Pho in Firenze! Absolutely delicious, just wish delivery was possible!

Yelp
Ummmmm wtf how is this place so good?! I had 0 expectations for a pho spot in Florence of all places-- and it's the only one in the city! But WOW the flavor was all there. It was reaaallllyyy good. The bowl was smaller than other restaurants but still hit the spot and filled me up. Turns out the cool is a super nice Vietnamese lady who came out to say hello! Super nice people and VERY good pho. Florence--you got lucky!!!

Yelp
Great Vietnamese food. Menu includes a large selection of items. Both meat eaters and vegetarians will be happy. Service is consistently good.

Yelp
If you have any understanding of how Vietnamese food tastes in the States or elsewhere, do not come here. As a career service industry worker, I avoid one star reviews at all costs, but was massively dissatisfied and disappointed in this establishment. We made a reservation after looking to mix it up, and our server left us at our table for over forty minutes before coming back to take our order. Mind you, the restaurant was about half full at this point. They sat a few different tables of Italian customers next to us and immediately took care of them, got their food out rather quickly, and the servers checked in on them regularly throughout service, while completely ignoring my partner and I. After delivering the wrong beverage, it was about another twenty five minutes or so before we received our food. As we waited, I started to grow suspicious that maybe I wasn't the only one who had this experience here and decided up their Yelp. I read on in horror as my worst fears were confirmed. As all of the other Italian tables around us were beginning to finish their food, our dinner finally arrived. We got pho, bun chay, and the mussels. The quality is about what you'd expect from a cafeteria style set up and we didn't even finish our food. Bland, imbalanced, overpriced, and leaving more than something to be desired. I'm not the kind of person to burn a spot on an app just because the food isn't for me. But when the service is also absolutely horrible? It's gonna be a no from me dawg. So here I am, an anti-yelper, and one of the many deeply disappointed customers, urging you not to waste your time at this restaurant. I'd leave a zero if I could. We finished our night at the kebab spot two doors down from here and it was great. If you find yourself in my shoes, go get a kebab.

Yelp
12 euros for 2 tiny pieces of beef in the pho, in addition to 1 coperto for absolutely no service. One of the worst phos I have had. This place would be closed for business after 3 months if it was in New York. Worse yet, terrible service. Came right when it opened and waiter refused to seat me at a proper table while all 3 tables were available. She later seated two other parties without reservation, who came after me. She refused to let me change table even after I explained that I have a cold and cannot sit next to the door. I will not come back again.

Yelp
Today I came to this restaurant and had very bad experience here. The incompetence waiter took all the wrong orders. After I told them that they gave me the wrong foods, they insisted the foods that came out were the what we ordered. Later on, I talked to another waitress about this mistake when I got the bill, they didn't even apologize. And I didn't mention that the foods tasted like someone found it in the trash can and served to you. Take my advise and don't come here to eat this trash foods.

Yelp
My favorite pho place in Florence. Really the only real Vietnamese food here. I get the boiled beef pho soup and sometimes order the fried pork and shrimp spring rolls to share if I'm eating with friends!!

Yelp
Where do I start? The terrible service? They were pissed we had the audacity to walk in two hours before closing and ask to be seated for dinner. Bland food? And minimal choices? They don't even have Pho Ga and they serve the only pho they do serve with next to zero sprouts etc. Or how about the pork in requested vegetarian dish? Thanks for that. We sent it back just to have it brought back to our tables with pork still in it. Peanut sauce is served as a watery I don't know what...honestly the WORST Vietnamese I have ever had. Period. Hands down. Ever.

Yelp
Wish I could give this a ZERO star. Really bad tasting food, unappetizing quality. The food was subpar to standard, this is no where near what authentic Vietnamese food should taste. Should have listen to what other reviewers have said before come here. The food here taste like someone bought it frozen section of the frozen aisle and microwave for 3min, then served it to you. The waiter was clueless on how to treat their customers. Didn't offer any refreshments when sat down, and took forever to take our order. When the food did come out, it was completely the opposite of what I ordered. OMG, what's so hard about writing down the number we selected and punch it in the cashier machine. It wasn't busy, nor was our order was that hard. But that showed you how unorganized this establishment is. Just save your MONEY and STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!
