This place is located in the Asian District, right by the entrance of the Mekong Supermarket, on the right hand side as you enter. It also has its own entrance, just right at the front. The place is casual, a little grungy, maybe it’s the dark decor and furniture…. The tables are all set with silverware, napkins, straws, condiments, so that part is convenient. We came on a Thursday around lunch time, so it didn't take long for us to get seated. There were about 4 other tables occupied besides us. They have cold water carafe with lemon and that was nice. We looked over the menu and ordered shortly after being seated. Our entrees came rather quickly. We ordered: (1) #28 with grilled pork chops and (2) another com tam with beef (can't recall the item number on the menu). Both entrees came with a small bowl of soup with pork (complimentary) and it was cooked to perfection cuz the meat was so tender the broth was just so comforting! This is one of the biggest star items for us! The broken rice is ok, not the best but also better than some I have had. As for the main/selected proteins: The grilled pork is quite thin but tasty. Has grill the criss-cross grill marks, so it looks nice. The beef was a little sweet but still tasty. The stars, to me, were all supporting items that came with the rice plates which makes the meal enjoyable: 1. the pork soup I mentioned: EXCELLENT! 2. the pickled cabbage (tartness and sweetness were perfect!) 3. the bi - nice and dry as they should be 4. Tom cha was more eggy but still tasty 5. the Tau Hau Ky was surprising DELICIOUS! One of the best I have had! The sauce (nuoc mam) is on a sweet side but I think most restaurants make them just as sweet. Overall, I would come back here again for the complimentary pork soup and the Tau Hau Ky! Those 2 items are worth the trip for sure!

Google
The best broken rice spot in AZ! Amazing 10 meat plate!! Everything they have here is excellent. Dry noodle, soup, fried Cornish hen, you name it.. it’s awesome.

I wanted to try new flavors and yes this was a great experience. The menú has pictures so your eyes can decide what to eat. I really liked the rolls (number 2)

Had a great experience at this Vietnamese restaurant in Mekong Plaza! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My son and I really enjoyed both the meal and the relaxed atmosphere. Only minor downside was the menus—they’re definitely well-loved and could use a refresh, but that didn’t take away from the great experience overall. We’ll definitely be back!

The service is friendly and the bun is excellent (it's what we always get). The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is very tasty - but it had lots of ice, next time I'll ask for a smaller amount of ice. The way they prepare the steak is excellent. I've had the pork as well - both are great.

Cozy little Vietnamese restaurant in Mekong plaza across from the grocery store. My food was pretty good but the wife's was really fatty. With this covid scare I would think that the elderly gentleman that refills the water would work on his handling of the water cups and hand cleanliness. Would most likely try again. 10/2023 back for another try - solid 4 stars. Spring roll are great. Prices have gone crazy high btw.

Google
Top quality food. Broken rice dishes are one of my favorites. The owner and family are back and take care of you. Worth a stop if you are shopping at the market.

Yelp
Genuinely one of the best restaurants (not just among Vietnamese or Asian food) in the Greater Phoenix area. They are known for their broken rice plates, especially their 7 and 10 meat plates. Also, trust me when I say get an order of their eggrolls... I'm not one to usually like eggrolls but theirs is truly special. Fast service and great environment in Mekong Plaza, you don't want to miss this place.

Yelp
A casually convenient restaurant located in the Mekong Plaza, serving hearty, delicious food since the early 2000's. This is one of those places that I frequent for very specific items whenever I have a craving. These specific items being the #3 Nem Nuong fresh spring rolls and the #22 broken rice plate with seven items. The spring rolls are always so tasty, crunchy and refreshing. The broken rice dish is a hit or a miss depending on the visit. Sometimes the flavor can be spot on, other times the pork chop ends up being a bit bland. What I really appreciate about this place is how extensive their menu is, there's lots of options for everyone's varying taste buds. Portion sizes are generous here, so you're guaranteed to leave feeling full every time! Service is always fast and upbeat. This is a great spot if you're in the mood for comfort food or in the area but on a time constraint and are looking to grab a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Came for an early dinner on a Friday. Got the #28 with a grilled pork chop. This came with pork soup, clear and clean broth. The pork chop was on the thinner side, but tasty. It was the first time I had a steamed pork egg cake, which was nice when crumbled and mixed into the rice. My friends enjoyed their meals (two got vermicelli noodles bowls, and another also got a broken rice dish). Ate one of my friend's spring roll, which was delectably crispy. Filling and light. Overall, nice spot to get some rice or noodle dishes in the Mekong Plaza! Straightforward but nice service. Would recommend some fried spring rolls to go along with whatever you order.

Yelp
I had number 70 and my husband had soup with chicken and shrimp. We loved it. The service was great but the food was delicious. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
There's no pho or beef noodle soup here--only pork or seafood noodle soups. The vegetarian options are pretty basic, nothing too exciting. I guess I should have done more research, as I just assumed most Vietnamese restaurants would have pho.
google avatar

Yelp
Casual dining situated in Mekong Plaza. I enjoy coming here & usually order the same thing with the same upbeat server. Grilled porkchop was marinated in a tasty sauce, sitting on a bed of broken rice, that took up the size of the plate it came on. Pickled vegetables were good & a welcome crunch. Fried shrimp egg rolls (5) are a must with sweet fish sauce for dipping. No frills here but always leave happily full.

Yelp
Com Tam Thuan Kieu has been a part of my life for nearly 20 years. I still remember ditching high school with friends just to grab lunch here, and even when I was far from home--or feeling under the weather--this place was always on my mind. There's just something about a plate of rice with seven meats that hits my soul in a way nothing else does. I crave it at the most random times, and it's one of the few restaurants where I have zero hesitation about rolling in solo at 10 a.m. on a weekday, grabbing a corner seat, and just going to town.

Yelp
My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant before and the food was pretty good during this most recent visit. The ambiance is very casual and there is a lot to do inside of the Mekong Plaza. Our server was really nice but they didn't come by that often, which is actually a good thing sometimes. The both of us enjoyed our food and it definitely filled up our bellies.

Yelp
Located in Mekong Plaza, Com Tam Thuan Kieu is one of my fave Viet spots! Their nem nuong is the absolute best in the Valley! Their rice dishes are all fantastic as well.. although, if you really want a treat, then get the Com Tam combo with pork, shrimp, meatloaf, and all the usual accompaniments! It will have you smiling from ear to ear and leaving with a full belly! I imagine a day when I walk in here and it will be like that scene from Cheers when Norm walks in and the entire bar stops, looks, and shouts out "Norm!" in excited fashion. It hasn't happened yet, but their service is always terrific, friendly, and with a smile! Gluten-free options are plenty! And if you're craving something that normally comes with gluten, then don't be afraid to order it gluten-free - they are happy to accommodate your dietary restrictions (where possible)! Gluten-free rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS*****

Yelp
Com Tam Thuan Kieu is great for a quick, satisfying meal. Although the menu was extensive, the server gave us his recommendations, which was helpful. The service was efficient, and our food was served fast. We ordered the #30 broken rice plate and #69 vermicelli noodles. Both dishes were decent for the price. The crispy egg rolls in the vermicelli bowl were delicious. Also, I appreciated the complimentary bowl of broth that we were given. My only critique was the pork chop; I wish it had a more charred, smoky flavor. Compared to other broken rice plates I've had, the pork chop here was a bit lacking. However, the food was tasty overall, and I would return for a quick meal if I were craving Vietnamese food.

Yelp
I've never been here before but it's a solid spot in az for com tam, super good pricing, the egg was really good too!

Yelp
These spring rolls were perfectly crispy and delicious. The dipping sauce was the ideal match, enhancing the flavor. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable, with friendly service. I recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit during peak times.

Yelp
The best broken rice spot in AZ! Amazing 10 meat plate!! Everything they have here is excellent. Dry noodle, soup, fried Cornish hen, you name it.. it's awesome.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was wonderful and smooth. Ambiance was well put and tidy. They give you a side of hot soup broth with your meal for you to enjoy as well :)

Yelp
The best broken rice in Mesa, AZ! They do catering as well! Yummy nem noung spring rolls. My favorite is the beef short ribs on broken rice and their fried egg rolls

Yelp
On the list of CNN's World's Best dishes is the Vietnamese Gỏi Cuốn. It's also on my list too. What's not to love? They're seriously one of the best foods out there. It's confined in an edible package, you get greens, you get noodles, and you get protein. Love it! At Com Tam thuan Kieu, I like to get the #3. You get four fresh-grilled pork sausage spring rolls and it has lettuce, mint, pickled daikon, cucumber, a crispy fried wonton wrapper, and chive wrapped up nicely inside rice paper wrapper. It's served with an amazing crab & pork sauce. Just squeeze in some chili paste and it's perfection. I've had their rice plates before and from what I remembered, it was good! The staff here are friendly and are very patient.

Yelp
Rice dish is really good depending on the toppings. Nem nuong (V meatloaf)- authentic and yummy Shrimp loaf/cake - very authentic and good Tau Hu Ky (Fried tofu skins wrapped with shrimp cake) - very authentic and good Sướng Nuong (bbq pork chop) - thin, dried and borderline tough. Thit nuong (bbq pork) - good flavor but thin, dried and tough Lap sướng (Chinese sausage) - can't really go wrong Bi - Julienne pork and pork skins coated with toasted rice. I like this better in another dish called Banh Tam. Cha Hap (steamed egg loaf) - lack flavor, not authentic. I had better in San Diego. No traces of fermented fish that I can taste. Soup that came with the rice is good but is on the salty side. Overall good, fixed my mềm nuong cravings.

Yelp
Best broken rice plate dishes out there. Been coming here for the longest time and quality is still the same definitely give them a try
google avatar

Yelp
Great service great food. If you in the area or shopping at Mekong you should swing by and try out the food.
google avatar

Roni K.

Yelp
An expansive menu-noodles and bowls and plates with a wide variety of protein sources. Service was quick at the lunch hour -we sat and were served and completed our meal in under 45 minutes. I had a vermicelli noodle bowl with chicken. Lunch partner had the same noodle with beef. Both bowls had veggies with the protein and noodles. Excellent flavor-will return!
google avatar

Tara L.

Yelp
Love this place! Their vegan options are great. Customer service is spot on. We drive from chandler just for this spot!
google avatar

Yelp
They are the unusual Vietnamese place that has soups but not Pho. No biggie as I knew this ahead of time. I think they specialize more into bun bowls and broken rice dishes. I think the service was pretty good and very friendly. I ordered the bun thit nuong. I would not say it is the best Vietnamese food I have ever had but it had decent flavor. Portion was not overly large either. I am just not sure with all the choices that this is the place I would come again to. Located next to Mekong Market. It is nice inside.
google avatar

Yelp
My go to place for Vietnamese dishes! It's been awhile oh how I miss this place. Yes I have noticed the price have gone up. It's called inflation everyone! Prices goes up every where. Gas, food, theme parks etc! Look if anyone has any kind of common sense they shouldn't be complaining about price increases. In order for mom and pop shops to survive they have to increase prices to pay the employees. There inventory price most likely have gone up as well. No business would survive without making changes. Apologies for the rant but I think it's a little unfair to give a business a negative review based on a price increase especially with how the economy has been all over and staff shortages. Overall the quality of the food and service has not changed one bit. I will continue to support the business and I understand why businesses raise prices. Love the food guys keep it up
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Parents came to visit from San Jose, CA. They were pleasantly surprised by how huge the plates are for the price point! Lots of rice but also lots of meat. Proportions were to their liking and everything delicious. They even came here two days in a row. We recommend #22, #30, & #31 for rice plates, #72 for vermicelli, #50 for noodle soup!
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
Came here to get some soup and pork chop for my wife since she was feeling sick. They don't have pho but they have a soup that is good in its own way (Hu Tieu Nam Vang). Had my order to go and they made it quick while being very friendly (great service) Located right in Mekong Plaza and fun to wander after
google avatar

Ruthie R.

Yelp
Ordered rice noodle soup with chicken and sliced pork and spring rolls with sliced beef and shrimp. The soup was okay. Though broth was so good, the meat was plain. It was missing something, maybe the chili oil. But overall it was good. It was a very light meal, so maybe adding rice might make it heavier. The spring rolls with the peanut sauce was the best part. I think I would go for that next time. Also their vietnamese coffee packs a punch and I'm a strong coffee lover. I know where to get my fix for strong coffee! I will definitely come again, but maybe order a different item.
google avatar

Qui V.

Yelp
One of my favorites places for those delicious grilled pork spring rolls, broken rice dishes and egg noodle soup. These guys are consistent with food quality and service!
google avatar

Susanna L.

Yelp
Love this place. Whenever I need a rice plate fix I come here. Generous portions of delicious charbroiled food for a decent price. Most Vietnamese places I go to don't offer broken rice anymore so thank you for this place !
google avatar

Serena P.

Yelp
I recently moved to Mesa and was craving rice. The com tam here is just as good or even better than the places I used to frequent in Cali! I got the 7 item plate com tam, everything was so fresh and high quality. The crispy egg rolls and thai tea are extremely delicious also! I like how the egg rolls are with the spring roll paper can't find that anywhere else. I'd recommend this place and come back due to the quick service! Ambiance is perfect for a vietnamese restaurant in my opinion!
google avatar

Asia G.

Yelp
Gluten free spring rolls!!!! I usually get the pork. One of the few restaurants that still use traditional rice paper to make crispy spring rolls. You have my sincere respect and gratitude. Since I can no longer do gluten, I'm thrilled to find the restaurant still serve their crispy spring rolls the traditional way. Many places have adopted the wheat based eggrollwrappers. While the rice paper takes a certain amount of skill to roll properly and the right amount of heat to get crispy and not burn while still being crispy. Today I ordered 3 to go.

Yelp
Look no further, u've found THE BEST restaurant for shrimp and pork sausage spring rolls in AZ! Best known for their broken rice (cm tấm) dishes, their pork sausage spring rolls are also a hit!! Want to make ur own spring rolls at home? U can!! Just buy their pork sausage! 1/2lb for $8 or 1lb for $14!!! Now that's what i call a blessing!!
google avatar

Yelp
Always a solid meal with good prices and large portions. Food always come out fast and hot!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Phoenix. They don't have Pho but they have so much more. My favs: Bun: Vermicelli rice noodles with your choice of toppings. Light fresh and tasty this is perfect if you're not looking for something too heavy. It honestly eats like a salad and CTTK's version is perfect. Com Tam: Broken rice with your choice of toppings. My favorite is pork chop but all the variations I've tried are so good and very filling! It comes with a side of wondrous pork soup that is the perfect start or end to the meal. You can ball out with the $20 version that can easily serve 3 or get a couple of toppings for $12 and still be stuffed. They also have a wide variety of other soup and noodle dishes. If I could eat here everyday I would lol. (Maybe I can reroll in life)
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
Great Vietnamese rice plates and bun noodle dishes! Yummy egg rolls (fresh and fried) They don't seem to have pho, so if you want that there is a pho restaurant in the same mall walking distance from this place.
google avatar

Kim Loan L.

Yelp
Always our place to dine when we are in the area and wanting a good rice plate. Consistent and so yummy. Their pork soup that comes complimentary with a rice plate is probably the best I've had, so simple yet extremely flavorful. Their rice plates are large enough to share. We love coming here!

Yelp
Com Tam Thuan Kieu Vietnam food the best special BBQ. Waiter/waitress very friendly They are close Thursday Don't forget Chek they are open hour,

Yelp
I ordered a takeout once and when I opened the veg bag, bugs flied out and I threw away the veg bag. The rest of the food seemed fine but I was hesitant to order from here ever again.
google avatar

Yelp
Flavor flavor flavor! Every single recipe is spot on here. Super authentic and delicious. Then again it's what I've come to expect from restaurants around Meekong Market. I even got a free mini soup I think in an attempt to show me how delicious their Pho must've been as well. I got some rolls and a broken rice dish, which I just couldn't get enough of.
google avatar

Ellie V.

Yelp
I love coming here and my go to for their 10 meat dish. You can have it with broken rice or the banh hoi. It feeds at least 2 people depending on how much you can eat.

Yelp
We have been coming to this restaurant for years as our family enjoys some of the food here. On our visit today we came as a group of 7 and we had the order typed up on our phone. At first we try to order the food in Vietnamese but the server in Vietnamese said to just show him the text and stop talking which was extremely rude off the start. We proceed to just show him the text like he asked which has specific details on it and he proceeded to get the order wrong. We bring this up to their attention and he begins to say we lie about the order and that he confirmed the order and that we lied and changed the order. After that he thought we didn't speak english and proceeds to turn to the kitchen staff calling us liars and talking more disrespectful remarks, by the time we get the food we keep noticing he keep talking and multiple times see employees peak their head from the kitchen one at a time with him and when we look at them they turn back in and walk in. It is an uncomfortable feeling when your server assumes you don't speak English and tries to talk down on you and your family and having employees constantly looking at you and talking about you. When it comes to getting the check we receive the tab and notice instead of charging us for the plate in which we were supposed to get rice and three meats, they chose to charge a different dish and charge the third meat as extra order which costed more so they cheated us on the bill too. We have been coming to this restaurant for more than 7 years around the time they opened this location. We have known most of the family that works here they even used to have another son work here who was always so nice and kind and helpful, we haven't seen him the past few times so don't know if he noticed things being done wrong or what and left or if he noticed the attitude that we saw today but this visit was very unpleasant and uncomfortable and very unprofessional. I understand it is holidays and there is a lot of business right now but there are a lot more professional ways to handle yourself. Could have easily just said my mistake or you misheard or even that there was just a miscommunication and it could be fixed and done but instead chose to act in a unprofessional manner to a family which has always tipped well and been close to others of the family, so very disappointed for this experience to be racially stereotyped assuming we didn't speak english to then talking disrespectfully the entire time...

Yelp
Fast service and amazing comfort food. Not too loud inside. Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Ordered the grilled pork over rice and my partner had the short ribs over rice. Both dishes were very delicious. I added a fried egg over mine and it was perfect. The soup and shrimp rolls that came with the meals were also very good. Service was quick and meals also came pretty quickly. Would definitely be going back.

Yelp
best Vietnamese broken rice in all AZ fav is crispy tofu shrimp paste and their nem nướng spring rolls with their dipping sauce. Must try!

Yelp
Spring rolls! I was craving these refreshing wrapped wonders so I headed over to get an order to go. I liked how there were multiple options in different amounts to choose from. I opted for the "phan nem tom cuon" to go: A set of 3 pork and shrimp spring rolls with lettuce, mint, pickled daikon and chive. At $6.99 it wasn't too bad of a price and the friendly guy at the counter said it would be ready in 10-15 minutes so I could wait or shop at the nearby Mekong Supermarket until it was ready. I opted to go do some shopping and when I came back around 15 minutes later the rolls were all securely packaged and ready for the trip back home. The rolls looked so delectable when I opened up the bag! They were filled to the max with veggies and meat. I especially loved the inclusion of a crispy crunchy little fried roll inside of the filling, it made for a lovely textural and taste difference to the softer meats and veggies. I did get one shrimp that still had its tail on it so I got an unpleasant chitinous bit towards the end of one roll, but the rest were delicious. I also enjoyed the peanut sauce that went with the rolls. Overall, a good place for spring rolls.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place twice within the last couple weeks and BOTH times my order was missing something. The first time it was an order of the shrimp paste rolls and I called right away and the male I spoke to advised that he would make a note to make sure we get one FREE in our next order. I called today for our next order and spoke to a different male this time, i was stating my order and mid-conversation a female took over. I guess the first male "forgot" to write down half my order because when my husband got home, we were mjssing my daughters dinner AND the free shrimp paste rolls. I called again and the female answered and stated sorry he didn't write down the order and sorry I thought you meant shrimp PASTE not rolls. I asked if there was a note of the issue from the last mistake and she said yes there was - SO WHY WERENT THE SHRIMP PASTE ROLLS ADDED? If there was a note?? What a shame because this place actually has good food but the customer service and the lack of attention to detail is horrible. People don't have time to drive back and forth for missing orders. My advice for anyone ordering here is I guess just check your bags for every single thing because they "forget" a lot. And don't even bother ordering through DoorDash because you'll for sure be missing something.

Yelp
FYI: I love their broken rice dishes...all of the above please!! If I am really craving rice, it has to be broken rice along with everything that comes with it. I love grilled chicken and the egg quiche and the veggies that come with one entree. Any of the charbroiled meats are just as delicious. I even love the chicken soup you get while waiting for the entree. The flavorings is just perfect! And of course you can't go wrong with any of the egg rolls - fried ones and spring rolls. Service is always wonderful! I'll be back again and again and again!

Yelp
You never go wrong with their broken rice plate. The meat is good and other stuff too. I love to order extra some spring rolls for the appetizer. Would recommend this place to everyone. Good services too

Yelp
After doing a shoot on Sunday, I needed comfort food. Com Tam Thuan kieu, Vietnamese restaurant. Number 54 soup gives me the feeling of being in a grandmother's kitchen where the right soup could make everything better after a rough day. If you live close to the east valley, come enjoy a variety of soul food. Located at Mekong Market.
