2024 Mexico MICHELIN Bib Gourmands

"On a breezy, tree-lined street in San Miguel Chapultepec, everyone sits shoulder to shoulder at a single communal table stretching the length of two parking spaces. The convivial setting suits this unassuming restaurant, which offers an all-day menu of comforting classics that revolve largely around the comal. A single chef weighs, presses, and griddles everything to order. The gordita especial, packed with chicharron and tender, shredded carnitas, is a favorite. Late night out? Swing for the chilaquiles chamorro with salsa verde and kick it up a notch with the fiery salsa on the table. Other hits include crispy flautas stuffed with melting cheese and a picturesque enmolada covered in a sweet mole poblano. Expect a wait come weekend brunch." - The MICHELIN Guide US Editorial Team

⭐️ A true hidden gem! From the attention to the food, every detail at Comal Oculto feels like part of a full culinary journey. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely friendly, we felt so welcomed from the moment we arrived. They took the time to explain each dish, which made the experience even more special. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting and a calm atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed dinner or even a romantic date. Everything we tried that night was top-notch, and the Jamaica mezcalita was absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for the warm hospitality, the amazing flavors, and such a memorable evening! 🌺✨

This was the best food of our trip so far. My wife looks up Michelin lists and local favorites when we travel, it's her favorite thing. We ordered 4 different dishes and the sauces were perfectly balanced, the meats were so tender and juicy, the tortillas and gorditas were amazing. The best hand made tortillas I had on this trip. They were thick but very moist and soft and would soak up the sauces and hot sauces perfectly. Also the hot sauces were a perfect mix of spice and flavor, but I also love spicy food so even the spiciest was fine for me. Coffee and matcha were also really good. We ordered a flat white and an iced matcha.

This was absolutely the best food we had in Mexico City, and I know that’s saying something! The flavors were unbelievable—I have no notes. The tamalito was my favorite! I have a few dietary restrictions, and they were happy to modify one of the dishes so I could enjoy it as well. Really a 10/10 experience and can’t wait to come back!

We had brunch early at Comal Oculto. It was our first meal in CDMX. The front of house was very cordial and kind. We tried the pork shank in a taco, gordita, enmolada and enfrijoladas. We also had a sope with mushrooms and garlic that was so good. We also had our first cafes de olla of our visit. All of it was delicious. I only wish we could go back.

Cute restaurant serving delicious food! Our server mentioned that they normally are only open for lunch but recently started trying dinners too, so we were pleased to get to try that out. 3 of the 4 dishes we ordered all came with very different mole, and our server even brought us some extra tortillas so that we could soak up some of the remainder. Highly recommend!

I love this place and have been going here even before the Michelin recognition. The food is super tasty and served fast and the staff is always nice and attentive. One of my fav places to eat in Mexico City.

Fun spot with really great food & drinks. We waited about 25 minutes on a Saturday, but there is a place next door to grab coffee or canned beers while you wait. The taco de chamorro (just like pork carnitas) was the best thing we had. Absolutely delicious. The best corn tortilla I have ever had. Salsa macha was so tasty with it. We also had a potato and cheese flauta - was just okay. The pollo enchilada with mole - our 2nd fave but the mole was too chocolaty for my friend. The onion & cheese quesadilla was interesting but nothing special. Definitely skip the Tlacoyos - so dry and flavorless. I live in Austin, Texas and eat a TON of Mexican food. Highly recommend sticking to the enchilada & chamorro tacos. Cocktails also very tasty!!

Amazing elevated mexican food and good prices for this area/type of restaurant. Best mezcalitas we had in CDMX.
