Combo Donuts is truly a hidden gem of South Lamar! This place has the best kolaches, and the most incredible donuts, in all of Austin. The dough they use for everything here is out of this world and makes all their products so fluffy and delicious. Margaret and her family are also the kindest, friendliest people- I’m happy to support such a great local business. Combo Donuts really can’t be beat! We are from out of town with our kids. I am not a big donut person but went our first morning for the kids breakfast and then every morning we were here because they are the best donuts we have ever had. Amazing. Owner was super nice too.

Their donuts tasted doughy and slightly under cooked. The small kolaches didn’t offer a good meat to bread ratio. For two small kolaches and three basic donuts my total was just under $11.00. Pretty disappointing all around.

The best doughnut shop in Austin. Doughnuts are fresh, soft, fluffy, and delicious. My office loves it when I bring these to work, and visiting friends/family always want to make a stop here before starting their day.

Melt in your mouth. Seriously. These donuts are so fluffy and delicious. I love donuts. I love donuts so much that my wife and I had donuts at our wedding instead of cake. I wish we would’ve had THESE at our wedding! We ordered regular glazed, chocolate glazed, and cream filled eclair. This is definitely my new donut spot.

I am very picky about donuts and would have to say that thus far this place has THE best in Austin. More trendy places have crazy toppings but the donut base is terrible. Here its no frills, basic toppings but the donuts are FANTASTIC-- glazed donut was tender, chewy, and not too covered with sugar glaze. Good size too. At 99cents each, probably the best deal in town.

They may not have tacos 😉but the ham n cheese croissant was amazeballs! The donut holes are fluffy balls of glazed happy and the coffee is good too.

Like other reviewers had indicated, wished we were better informed about their schedule. To save everyone the drive here is a photo of their vacation notice. They will reopen on Thurs, JULY 13th!

Donuts so good they will turn a donut hater into a believer. The fact that I haven't written about Combo Donuts yet amazes me. The love affair I have with their glazed donut is truly the romance of the century. I will start off with the kolaches before I get into my ode to the glazed donut. The kolaches are actually spectacular. The jalapeño kolaches have whole jalapeño slices in them instead of just being in the sausage which I enjoy. I'd like to say I know a thing or two about kolaches being a born and raised texan, and these are my favorite in Austin by far. They really aren't trying to do too much, they're just a classic done EXCEPTIONALLY well. Honestly, that is Combo Donuts whole thing, classics done exceptionally well. The donuts aren't anything special or innovative. Not a maple bacon gold plated donut in sight. But, when I sit down on the patio with a cup of milk and eat my glazed combo donut it is truly me and that donut against the world. I seriously do not know what kind of sweet love they put into their donuts, but, I have been going for the past 2.5 years and have a religious experience every time. I love combo donuts. I love how you walk into combo and it's just the funniest little ambiance, truly a good ole ma and pa hole in the wall donut shop right on s lamar keeping this neighborhood alive and well. I have never been to combo and not seen the sweet lady who is always at the front. If combo ever tried to shut down I would chain myself to the building in protest.

Small locally owned business. I am not a huge donut fan but the donuts were very good and my friend who loves donuts says it's "the best strawberry donut she's ever had". The woman who helped us was very sweet and friendly and the kolaches with the hot dog and cheese were super tasty and fresh!

Hole in the wall donut shop that was absolutely fantastic. The donuts are light and airy (yeasted) and the chocolate caked donuts were full of flavor and had the right amount of crunch to them. The Apple fritter was outstanding as well and who could say no to a cinnamon roll?! The woman working the counter was incredibly friendly, very quirky and very helpful. Also absolutely worth the price over some of the more extravagant and elaborate donut places around town.

Soooooo good. Very quickly has become a Saturday morning tradition for my girlfriend and I. The kolaches are amazing and their glazed donut is my favorite in the city.

Oh my doughnut goodness! Combo Donuts is a total game-changer. Their kolaches? I'd name my future pet after those little pockets of joy. And don't even get me started on their donuts - they're so soft and squishy, it's like biting into a cloud of happiness! But wait, there's more! The owner is like a sprinkle of sunshine - cute, friendly, and always ready to make your day dough-lightful. If you haven't been here, you're seriously missing out on a hole lot of goodness!

Fantastic donuts. They have a croissant kolache that is randomly so good. The ladies who work there are as sweet as the food they make. Stop in and give them a try!

Holy moly. I did not look at reviews - just happened to be in this strip mall at the pharmacy and went in to get a donut for the kid. My god. The simple glazed is the platonic ideal of a donut. I don't even really like donuts. But damn. They know what they're doing. I have no pictures to share - they were all gone in minutes.

While the store isn't fancy, the Apple Fritter was outstanding!!! Woke up Sunday craving a classic Apple Fritter and was dismayed to see that most of the swanky donut shops have a lot more complex stuff ans miss this staple. Neighborhood reviews were strong for Combo so we gave it a try. -Apple Fritter (5 of 5 stars): smashed so no doughy middle, just the right ratio of glaze (one side only) and just crispy enough -Classic Grandma donut (5 of 5): so light yet crispy! -Croissant Sandwich (4 of 5): flaky croissant, oodles of bacon... downfall was American cheese not cheddar and the micro reheat ... but we were so pleasantly surprised to have this protein rich option to round out our sugar rush Definitely will be back!

Tried for the first time today (was in the area and noticed all the great reviews). I must say, their donuts are very, very good. They have your standard selections you would typically find in many donut shops. Their apple fritter was my favorite and their yeast donuts are a nice plump size and delicious. I haven't tried any of the kolaches yet. The girl behind the counter seemed a little "over it" for whatever reason....but as long as I got my donuts I'm happy :-)

Nothing super fancy about this shop. It's in a strip mall. Just has a couple little tables. But the donuts are incredible! They are fresh and the service is fast. The Applefritter's are my favorite. If you're looking for fancy donuts maybe try somewhere else. But if you're looking for good reliable donuts, this is your spot!

Combo Donut is an absolute gem. To explain why is going to reveal my inner old man but here we go: You know how every place seems to have a loyalty program, email campaigns, and multi-page menus that take a long time to puzzle out? And they just keep getting more expensive? Combo Donuts serves donuts. They're all right there. You walk up to the one counter and get them. They also have decent tacos. They also have the same drinks you grew up with in your local deli/corner store/whatever. The donuts are great - light and fluffy as if they mated with a cruller. And they are so dang affordable. Thank you Combo Donuts for being simple, tasty, and cheap.

This is the best donut shop in Austin. I have scoured the city for donut shops and combo takes the cake. It never disappoints. Their traditional doughnuts are light and fluffy but also substantial. The size is great and each donut will run you somewhere near $1. The owners are so nice as well! They remember my boyfriend and I's order and remember what's going on in our lives which is so sweet. There is a $5 card minimum, but that's not hard to reach LOL. If I only want a donut and don't have cash, I'll get a couple extra and give them to some of the homeless people on North Lamar. Their kolaches are also great! Big fan of the jalapeno and cheese Kolache. Combo donuts is so awesome !

I was visiting my daughter from out of town this week and was looking for a donut shop. I ran across this in my Google search and read the reviews, and I'm very happy to say that this is one of the best donuts I've ever had. The person working in the shop was very pleasant and friendly and I highly recommend the donuts here. Affordable and great quality.

COMPLAINT I Do Love this place. It is hands down my favorite shop in the area. But today I had a very annoying experience. I frequent the store 2-3 times a week. I spend on average $15-$20 per visit and I always leave an additional optional tip. I talk this shop up to friends and family and they have all fallen in love for the place as well. But after I had paid $16 for my kolaches and donuts (plus $3 tip) I turned to the coffee station and grabbed 3 coffee creamers so I can enjoy my purchase with the coffee I had made at home. As I put the creamers in my bag the girl behind the counter, in front of other customers, yelled out "Those are not free." Excuse me? I am a loyal customer, I am a good patron, I tip because it's courteous and I see others leave without tipping- often, and you are going to call me out for coffee Creamer packets?? It felt VERY unprofessional and very uncalled for considering how much money I spend here on a regular basis.

So good. The lady behind the counter was so sweet. The donuts were awesome, especially for the price point. They accept credit cards, but bring cash because small businesses like this run on tight margins, and transaction fees really take their toll. Go here!

Both the traditional and the cake donuts are delicious here. Rare to find a reasonably priced, family owned gem this close to downtown. Probably because their donuts are great!

Hidden gem! It's easy to miss because it's next to a Starbucks. But it's so great here. Owners are nice. Might not look like it's going to be a great buy but it is.

The donuts and kolaches are amazing! (Blueberry and strawberry frosted are my personal favorite donuts), but the real reason we come here so often is Miss Margaret. By and far the sweetest person I have encountered in the Austin service industry. Her and her husband own and operate this little donut shop, definitely my favorite in Austin! Also you can buy single Capri-Suns, which is awesome.

I went here expecting a basic donut but came away with the best glazed donut I've ever had, hands down. They also have great kolaches. Always fresh. Small family run business, highly recommend.

This place is the absolute definition of a hidden gem. For several years, we've enjoyed coming by, chatting with the incredibly friendly woman behind the counter, and getting the same, high quality glazed and chocolate-frosted donuts and kolaches. I don't know how they get the texture of the donuts to be so soft and fluffy, but it really just melts in your mouth. We've never had anything less than a fantastic experience and feel lucky to be able to order them over Favor (we're still quarantining). Can't recommend them highly enough!!

3.5. A nice little mom and pop donut shop right next to Starbucks. Can't say that the donuts are the stuff that my wildest dreams are made of when I'm dreaming of bouncing on donut clouds, but the donut holes had a nice, crunchy glaze on them. The kolache isn't exactly my speed though; some people like the sweet outside and the texture of the kolache dough, but it doesn't appeal to me as one cohesive kolache with the meat and the bread. Bring cash. Prepackaged beverages available to-go, and coffee is also available. Just one variety... this ain't Starbucks! Keep walkin' for that fancy pants stuff!

I came in and was greeted by the lady behind the counter. She was so incredibly nice and welcoming! I brought donuts in for my work and they absolutely loved them! I love this small business and I will definitely be supporting them from now on.

The lady in the morning is so sweet and the donuts were tasty and soft. Don't try to get to the homeless man who stands outside, he's a jerk.

Combo donuts is my favorite in the South Austin area, and probably all of Austin. I've been going there for years, and there is wonderful consistency in all of their items. I've never been disappointed in the least (well, ok, except for when the person in front of me snagged the last of my favorite croissant! Don't go buying all their sausage ones after reading my stellar review, OK????). Margaret, who usually runs the counter, is one of the warmest people you'll meet. She even learns the regular's names and orders, and will always have smile to share with you. Bonus: There's a Starbucks nextdoor, if you want to grab coffee, too!

Where do I start? The service is so warm and welcoming! The lady behind the counter was a sweet endearing woman who made me want to hug her and thank her for being such a bright light in this world. Ok, now for the food; Chocolate sprinkled donut was perfect! Light and fluffy with great sweetness and not over sweetened at all. The sausage kolache had a perfectly sweet breading that was chewy and delicious with a great balance of salty juiciness from the sausage. Great quality food and spectacular service!

Best Kolaches & donuts in town! Also the lady that is always there is super sweet! I will always go here when i treat myself! Definitely recommend trying them out!

I'm a little partial to another donut spot, but this place is close enough to where I'm staying that I couldn't go anywhere else. It's in a busy little strip next to a coffee mega-chain. Parking was tight, and this morning at 10 the whole strip was busy. I was greeted by a super friendly staff and as I ordered a line quickly formed behind me. They must be doing something right. The donuts were excellent. No weird aftertaste that you get in some places. Spicy kolaches - also on point. I love a good kolache, and these were pretty damn good. Not too much bread, just enough heat, but I could totally use a little more cheese.

I felt like I needed to write this place a review because a moment ago when I ate their extraordinary glazed donut, I audibly moaned. Alone. In my office. I'm moaning just thinking about it. I've decided to spend my day eating these donuts until i'm sick. Happy Friday!

Family owned donut shop. Never had anything bad here. Grab your $7 mocha latttee espresso foam thingy at Starbucks and then get a donut (lots of options) croissant sammich', breakfast taco or sausage kolache next door for a fraction of that price and you are ready to conquer the world!! Well at least until your sugar/caffeine buzz wears off :) Good place to take the kids and let mom sleep in.

Great food!!!!!! Owners are so nice! Eating here every morning during quarantine!! Staying open during the pandemic using utmost caution. Really appreciate the food quality and service. Stopped in here because the kid likes donuts and I like kolaches and tacos. I can't speak to the donuts, although my kid said his eclair was "awesome". The tacos looked a little scary in their saran-wrapped shells and I had further doubts when she popped it in the microwave to warm it up. After all that (and salsa that looked like Pace Picante), it really wasn't that bad. I guess bacon does make some things better. The kolache was fairly standard for a B level kolache. Sausage to bun ratio was a little off, but I liked that they used actual jalapeno instead of a jalapeno-impregnated sausage. If I was in the area, I'd go back.

Love the kolaches and the donuts love the business owners they are so nice and friendly and I feel safe there because they do still require the mask :) and everything it's not expensive
