I ordered chicken salad, it was really fresh, came big portion, the chicken was really tender and delicious, absolutely loved it. My wife ordered a burger and she liked it too. Staff were all nice and friendly, everywhere was clean. It’s a good choice if you are in downtown royal oak.

Google
It's hard to find anything to criticize here. They run a good operation, and the burgers tasted awesome. I got the 333 slider combo with fries and drink, all for 15 bucks. Honestly, a 2 combo would have sufficed. The atmosphere is reminiscent of 50's era diners, I enjoyed that. Very clean place. The people behind the counter were consistent, but not invasive, and very friendly.

Burgers were alright. But don’t even think about ordering a side/appetizer (complete ripoff). Jalapeño poppers looked like they cut two jalapeños in fourths. Each one was just larger than the size of a quarter. The garlic fries order are about the same size/amount from a McDonald’s small order. Not really coated in much seasoning (compared to their normal fries). Do not recommend buying anything other than burgers/sliders unless you are fine with overpaying for a subpar side.

What a wonderful throw back joint! The food was fast, delicious, and fairly priced and the staff was wonderful. I will absolutely be coming back!

Stellar sliders, solid shakes, and chill atmosphere I ordered a double-cheeseburger slider and vanilla shake. The Slider: the bun is not cakey but rather a soft sponge-type bread that absorbs the juice of the burger well. This leaves a great meat-to-bun ratio, and the cheese melt is glorious, covering every part of the patty. I witnessed the maestro on the grill as he made my sliders, and he used the tried and true "pinch and pull" method of lifting the patty off the grill. I then saw him scrap the melted cheese on the grill and add it to the burger. It was a marvelous process to witness and a magical taste to experience. The sliders were hot, cheezy, and accompanied by caramelized onions and a touch of ketchup added for some sweetness. I was highly impressed by the double-cheeseburger sliders I ordered, so much so that I ate 5 in total. The Shake: It was creamy and delicious, and it was just right in that Goldilocks zone of not being too thick and not too milky. I ate lunch on a Sunday, and there were only a few other diners, so it was a very calm and chill environment to enjoy my food in. The service was prompt and respectful. I was not waiting long either for my order to be taken or delivered.

Google
The first thing that we noticed about this place was how clean it was. We got sliders. My boyfriend got the cornbeef sliders. (He gives em 6.5/10) I got the regular cheeseburger sliders, and I'd give em 7/10. The fries are some of the best I've ever had. 10/10. The oreo cookie shake, my bf said was 9/10.. I say 10/10. Best shake I've tasted, and I love that they give you the extra in a separate container! This place is vibrant and cozy, the prices aren't bad and the staff are all smiles and good moods. For all of that, we will be back! 😊

Just sat down here at the bar and it was amazing! The Reese’s milkshake and space cowboy burger were amazing and the garlic fries!! We will be back!

Google
Great burger diner in downtown Royal Oak. Stopped in for lunch while running errands in RO. Really unique and cool place. I love the commitment to both the old school style diner and the art / design in general. Our waitress and all the staff were very friendly and pleasant. The food came out quickly and was pretty good. The burgers were decent. The fries were good and we liked the Philly egg rolls. I would recommend Comet Burger.

Yelp
The ambiance was great ! It reminded me of an 80's diner kinda like in riverdale ! So if you're looking for a diner with that aesthetic I would absolutely recommend comet burgers. The food was a solid 9.5/ 10 for me. I got the comet slider I believe that had the egg on it. It looked really good when it came out and it tasted even better ! I personally just don't like runny egg yolk but it went really well with everything on the burger and I was so surprised by that. I definitely recommend :) The service was amazing as well... there was great customer service. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable about their food. I came here with my brother and my niece and they also said the customer service was pretty good. We enjoyed ourselves and most likely will be back !

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place and I finally got takeout the other evening from here. We placed our order over the phone and it was so loud on the other end we could barely hear what the girl was saying, and she was having a very very hard time taking our order. I was worried it would be incorrect, but they got everything down correctly. My husband got a patty melt, fries, and a fruity pebbles milkshake. The fries were cooked well but lacking seasoning, his patty melt was just ok nothing special, and he loved his fruity pebbles smoothie. I got a slider, cuzzy burger, corned beef egg rolls, and an Oreo milkshake. The cuzzy burger was so disappointing! I was really looking forward to it from all the good things I read about it, but honestly the classic slider tasted much better. The corned beef egg rolls were delicious. My Oreo milkshake was mediocre, wouldn't get again. Overall not terrible, but not amazing. If I did cone back I would probably just get corned beef egg rolls and their classic slider.

Yelp
A must try! We loved the food and the theme of this diner. I got an Earth burger, milkshake and fries - all delicious! The fries were perfectly done and the burger was one of the best black bean burgers I've had. The staff were helpful, the service quick, and the prices pretty reasonable. Would highly recommend, hope to be back soon!

Yelp
The Cuzzy Burger was the People's Choice winner at the 2024 Burger Brawl .... and I visited to try both it and the corned beef egg roll. The burger uses wonderfully melty Gruyère cheese is heavily sauced with: - Onion jam - Garlic mayo - Zip sauce The bun is perfection toasted. The patty has good beef flavor, but is overwhelmed by the sauces. The dill pickle slices are fresh, chilled and crisp. The sauces are excellent, but for my palate, too much ... but I am not going to fuss over it. The people have spoken and I accept their judgement. The corned beef egg roll is good, not great. Needs more sour, sauerkraut. The venue is best described as modern diner, well executed and clean. The unisex bathroom was clean. Sue was my server. She is knowledgeable, attentive and appropriately chatty. Value? This is Royal Oak. Rents are nuts. The value is good considering their Main St. location. Will I return? Yes; I will return, inspite of the city's unreliable, troublesome, lousy, half-baked, thieving, poor excuse for an automated parking system.

Yelp
Old school burger feel with a modern touch. People here are very nice and friendly. The food is great. If you're in Royal Oak and want some old school sliders check em out.

Ash P.

Yelp
This place is a small cute place in Royal Oak, Mi with friendly staff and service. Food cooked to order and the place is pretty clean . Must stop by to try the fries.

Yelp
Delish! Accidentally got bbq on my burger and loved it. Will return, probably tomorrow, lol. So good.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and we love this place. They recently changed ownership on September 15th. We met the new owner Lon, and he was super nice. He has been in the restaurant industry since he was 13 years old, for over 40 years. He was the owner of a few restaurants as well. Yes he did make some changes, but they were good changes. Instead of frozen sliders, he buys fresh sliders 5 days a week. They are now 2 oz instead of 1. They taste really fresh and delicious. The chilli cheese fries used to come in two sizes and in a plastic container. The paper would always rip and get into my fries. The fries were also soggy sometimes. The fries are now on a nice metal tin. They are actually crunchy and taste better. I thought the food was delicious. I saw some people say there was no fountain drinks. That was probably because he was getting a brand new machine. We had fountain drinks when we were there and we saw the brand new machine they got installed. He is planning on making more changes. He wants to make it more of a space theme because of the name of the restaurant. He said he will update the decor on the walls and all the seating. I understand some people are upset that there is new ownership, but Lon seems like a great guy. He talked to us for a long while and explained that his main goal is to have fresh food. He doesn't want to use frozen patties. He was super nice to us and we are excited to come back in.

Yelp
I have always seen Comet Burgers in downtown Royal Oak but never stopped by. I was browsing Uber Eats tonight looking to possibly order dinner, and they had a ridiculous promotion up: spend $15+ on your order, and get $15 back. I figured that had to be a mistake but lo and behold, it worked! (I'm not sure if this is because I have "Uber One," the premium version, or what ...) I ordered two sliders, no ketchup/mustard (I'm a burger purist), with just the pickles and onions; six mozzarella sticks; and a large order of fries. My bill was like $15.05, and with taxes and a tip, I paid about $5 out of pocket. :O The verdict: -Sliders: very good, though I wish it had more onions (those were tasty) -Mozzarella sticks: delicious, and still nice and crispy -Fries: still crispy, which was good, but could use some salt. Didn't taste like any was on it. Also a large portion. Although the company may not have made much off my order, they now have a new customer, as I will be ordering again when I am craving sliders and/or mozz sticks! I also saw they had fried mushrooms, which I love, and seasoned fries, so perhaps will try those next time. My only complaint is that from the time I placed the order, to the time I received it, was about an hour (and I live 10 minutes from Royal Oak), but I suspect this is more to do with Uber Eats than with the restaurant. Thanks for the discount and also the tasty food!

Yelp
i love comet burger, and their banana milkshakes are fireeeee, the service was nice, very polite people, and i loved the ambiance, sitting in there made me feel like i was in a movie :)

Kamani H.

Yelp
Got DoorDash from here a week ago!! Food was delicious and hot and fresh. And super quick delivery!! Can't go wrong with a cute upbeat diner ;) Come here if you want great service and a great silder!

Josephine D.

Yelp
Always a great experience! Delicious , Fast , Great price and adorable atmosphere we've been going here for years and love taking our daughter here now. It's Honeslty a breath of fresh air in RO... most places down there are SO overpriced. Also love the menu updates!

Kendra L.

Yelp
Very fast and friendly service! Our server was vey attentive. My grilled cheese and fries were above average. So why not 5 stars? The bathroom. Eww. It was a 3/10.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
I came in here on a whim because I was in the area. I like the retro decor. I had a couple of sliders and onion rings. The food was decent but nothing to get me to return. There are many options in the area, and I will give some of them a try next time.

Allie S.

Yelp
Great things Great food Love a hotdog Big big big shakes Really like the hotdogs and chili cheese fries

Phil R.

Yelp
Really good shakes and sliders! Service was good, the theme of the restaurant is really nice. Highly recommend the cherry shake and the Mac n cheese bites

Brian B.

Yelp
Best chocolate malt in Metro Detroit!!! Just like the 50s!!! Fries are yummy, the sliders are very tasty and the ambiance is unique ... eat here when you need to eat just for the taste, not the nutrition.

Johney D.

Yelp
Food was amazing, 10/10 service, checked on us a lot. Best recommendations to this restaurant! If you wanna jam out while eating then come here!! The place was playing music in the background. Ambiance was good! Amazing food 10000/10

Gianna P.

Yelp
comet burger slider is the cigarette of sliders. i washed my hands twice and my fingers still smell like the sliders. i think my clothes smell like the sliders. i've been burping and my burps still taste like the sliders. the sliders weren't even that good. i got a to-go box for my last slider and then i forgot it when i walked out. i was only a couple store fronts down when i realized but it was not worth walking two seconds back to retrieve it. you can download the mcdonalds app and use the deals and get two mcdonalds cheeseburgers for $3. their food made me sad and frown :( sad grey meat

Ben G.

Yelp
Got the 6 pack of sliders and the cheese fries. Burgers are not that great, way better off going to little bros for sliders. Waffle fries were halfway decent. Overall you can get better food for less elsewhere. I got takeout, I'm sure some of the appeal is dining area in the restaurant, but food is not that great.

Kaitlyn P.

Yelp
Change in ownership. No longer good. Almost all new staff. Will never go back. Sliders are thin, overcooked, bad ratio of bun to patty. Onions rings are now thick cut rather than thin and crispy. Mozzarella sticks are almost as good as what you get from the freezer section of the grocery store. Ranch is just packets of Kraft. No more fountain drinks, just can of pop. Ice cream cooler is gone - disappointed to not be able to get an orange cream cooler or Boston cooler.

Cleetus J.

Yelp
Comet is open again and under new ownership. Sliders are better than before if that is even possible. Waffle fries were great! Coney was amazing! Great service and tasty diner food! Ambience and mood are just right. Place looks completely remodeled. Will definitely be visiting again!

Michael T.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Very clean. Great service. Delicious diner food. Exactly what we wanted. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The grilled cheese was perfect. Reasonable prices. Totally perfect lunch!

Jakari W.

Yelp
Food is amazing, a great variety of things and the decor is fun to look at. Loved it. Service was good and very good portions.

Muhammed E.

Yelp
Comet Burgers is one of my favorite diners to go to in Royal Oak. I really like the 80's diner vibe in the atmosphere and reinforced with the long bar that stretches from one end of the restaurant to the other. My order included the Jalapeño Peppers along with the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I have a special type of weakness for deep fired jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese. It is the perfect way to get my taste buds celebrating! The grilled chicken sandwich here is on point. It is topped just the way I like it, and it is satisfying. The service here is always amazing. The waitress is extremely nice and on top of her game. The cooks and manager/owner are also incredibly nice. The employees here are well rounded people and it helps make a pleasant experience.

Kourtney A.

Yelp
I am SO sad, the new 'management' has made a significant amount of changes & they're not for the better!!!! Don't try and reinvent the wheel, the O rings r different, sliders seemed low quality and you can no longer get a fountain pop!!!! We used to come every Saturday and get our usual, but it's gone downhill since the take over and we unfortunately wont be back. Time to find a new slider joint !!!!

Michael T.

Yelp
We ordered sliders and the chicken cheesesteak from them via GrubHub, and those were both great! The fries, however, were unsalted and a bit bland. Overall, good experience. I'd be interested in trying to dine in and see how much better the food is fresh.

Verukah A.

Yelp
New ownership change, quality of food decreased and so did the quality of service. Nothing on the menu is special enough to make me return, and the ambiance sucks

A J.

Yelp
Love the new look. Sliders were excellent. We Also had the chili cheese fries that were great and they were not soggy like other places. My son ordered a milk shake and it was very good. Met the owner Lon who gave us great service. I will definitely be coming back.

Marquel H.

Yelp
I love this place. The food is great. I like that they have regular fries instead of the crinkle cut other slider places typically have. However the chili cheese fry is not like that from a coney place. But the claim to fame is the burger and it hits the mark. Yum! Shakes are thick. They legit slap. The menu is a little larger than other slider places. Good tenders, grilled cheese is ooey gooey goodness. All around great experience time after time after time.

Rosalyn P.

Yelp
Nothing was good about these burgers I had. I didn't even finish everything. I tried the regular burger slider and the chicken slider and didn't like either.

Immanuel M.

Yelp
The vibe of the place was nice, great customer service, but the food was mid, the burger was even more mid

Leah W.

Yelp
We order from Comet Burger at least once a month. Their chicken Caesar salad is the best one you'll find anywhere. My husband is also a huge fan of the monster burger and my toddler who is a picky eater will devour a plain cheeseburger without a fight. We've never had something we didn't like from Comet Burger which is why it's been our family favorite for years. They absolutely never disappoint.

Morgan H.

Yelp
Went in midday and we were the only ones there. Food was pretty good, service was good, food was fresh and quick. No complaints at all! Waitress did say it's more of a place you go to after a bar or party when you're already a little drunk or high. Says they get pretty busy on weekend nights so I'll be going back!

Diondra M.

Yelp
Stopped by when we realized Topcat's RO location was closed. Didn't get my crack fries, but did enjoy some good sliders & wing dings. Everyone was satisfied with their food, (sliders, fish sandwich, fries, and wing dings), and the price. Good service, good eats, and a retro feel. The space can feel a little small, but there is outside dining. Will definitely be coming back when I visit home.

Boris B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for about 15 years and Comet Burger has always been one of the top slider palaces in metro Detroit. The burgers are old-style: small and tasty with grilled onions and pickles. Get two... or six! That's the original American hamburger, folks, before it was twisted and adulterated by the big fast-food chains. I usually order the double cheeseburger (sometimes, two of 'em), and they're always perfect. The service is great, too! Little-known fact: Comet makes what is possibly the best vanilla malt in the area!

Hal N.

Yelp
I've been going here for years, maybe 10? They have malts, onion rings, and good burgers. For my health, and to save the planet , I've switched to their black bean burgers which I have with grilled onions and mushrooms, and I ask them to grill the sesame buns. It's inexpensive, and friendly w rock pop decor and 50s diner style. It's not fancy, but it's a gem. If Katy takes your order, please say hello from Hal.

Tqrnr X.

Yelp
So good :) The waitress is so nice she let my dad read the ingredients of the buns:)

Elaine R.

Yelp
I can't believe I drive past this place almost every day and never went in! It's your typical old school slider diner with great food and prices! I had some cheese sliders with waffle fries and a shake, and it was delicious! Don't be fooled: the sliders are larger than they appear, and my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach the night I came her! But it worked out because I had great leftovers for lunch the next day! I will definitely be back

Ying H.

Yelp
New ownership and new menu, no longer the same great food anymore. Our orders got messed up multiple times. Owner constantly creeped around us while we ate. This was my husband's favorite place to eat and we were super disappointed and probably won't go back anymore.

Mandy A.

Yelp
Mmmmmmm so good ! Love their sliders and cheesy fries ! Always on point! And more importantly, they have ice cream ;)

Mark C.

Yelp
Came in for they're known for the sliders. Really good not to greasy. Got two sliders fry and Coke. These are my favorite places to eat . The service was friendly . Cook the sliders right in front of you. The bun is grilled with the burger and onion nice mix. The inside is old style diner. A good place to check out.

Joey K.

Yelp
Unfortunately, not the same, famous, Comet Burger anymore. New owner took over about a month ago and pretty much changed everything. Menu, burgers, fries are all different, no more fountain pop- all bottles and cans. The staff looks depressed and the new owner creeps behind the counter not looking friendly at all. I used to go here every Thursday but now that won't be the case.

Yasir N.

Yelp
The food is good but it's been better the service tho sucks i got the receipt didn't leave tip cause it was a carry out and they just added 20% tip themselves and I found out when i checked my bank after totally not appreciated and never go back there again

Merlin T.

Yelp
Every thing !!! Burgers, fries and malts. Love it. Beef Patties. Two Sliders ComboComet Sliders

Zamanable H.

Yelp
Easy, quick walk to Comet Burgers if you are in the area to satisfy your cravings. The menu has a quite a bit to offer! Last time I was here, I tried the grilled chicken sandwich. Pretty basic but it was really well put together and the chicken was good right on point. It hit the spot for me. I wish the hours didn't change to close so early. This place used to be open very late before the pandemic.

Eirini K.

Yelp
My family and friends loved coming to Comet Burger... not anymore. New ownership . The food and quality has completely changed. Unfortunately will not be going back. So sad to lose a place we loved going to for 20 years.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Comet Burger has been a staple of the downtown Royal Oak scene for years now - it's a great place for late night eats...or Labor Day lunch, as it turns out. My daughter and I tried to attend Arts, Beats and Eats this weekend but we were turned away because we had our dog with us. We decided to grab some lunch at a place where our dog would be welcome (aka a place with a patio). Comet was open, not busy, and said our dog was welcome outside. We ordered sliders, fries, onion rings and milkshakes. It was about $20 for two people. Everything was tasty and well prepared. Special shout out to the onion rings, which were deep fried perfection (and the real reason I wanted to go to AB&E). The service was friendly and quick. We will definitely be back!
