The 9 Best Instant Coffees Out There | Eater

"Praised as arguably the best instant coffee on the planet but with clear trade-offs: relatively expensive (one serving runs between $2 and almost $4, minimum order four boxes of eight servings), bulky single-use capsules slightly larger than a Nespresso pod, shipped with dry ice and requiring freezer storage. Instead of freeze-drying, the concentrate is flash-frozen with liquid nitrogen and packaged as an ice puck that’s flushed with nitrogen to prevent oxidizing, so “the coffee is never dehydrated. Instead, it’s frozen like Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back, ready to be revived at your whim.” When reconstituted, the cups can deliver “all of the nuanced flavors and delicate aromatics of an immaculately prepared pour over,” with tasting notes spanning jasmine, bergamot, clove, blueberry — “What you taste in a Cometeer coffee can be kaleidoscopic.”" - Oliver Strand

I found cometeer at a mall pop up here in NJ Then I ordered boxes The box’s I was sent are not the flavor profiles I like. I’ve been giving them to friends an co-workers. Not a fan of apples, grapes, tea etc flavors in my coffee. I’ve reached out to the company via email this morning and I’m hoping they do the right thing and send me the flavors I like to make it right. Until then I can only give three stars. It’s a great concept but can’t recommend at this point.

I just had the most horrifying and discriminating experience at the pop up Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall today. I’m an avid coffee drinker and was really excited to try this product. The man at the stand asked me what I was looking for- I told him I love dark coffee and I’m looking to try something hot. He then rolled his eyes and told me he was going to give me iced medium. When I asked why, he rolled his eyes and turned his back as he prepared the cup of iced coffee. I asked him if he was having a bad day and if everything was ok he said “ I’m having a great day, you just don’t look like the buying type”. I was completely in shock and I asked him what gave that impression. He tried to explain as he looked up in the air and eventually said you just don’t look like you’re interested in buying so I’m just trying to give you this coffee in a timely manner. I let him know I drink coffee all day, am a mom of 2, and a therapist who lives and breaths coffee but even if I’m only interested in testing it I can’t believe he would discriminate and insult a customer like that. I took a card to escalate this. I’m appalled and the worst part is my 2 daughters were with me, luckily they did not hear this disrespect but I’m totally turned off from the brand and will not be purchasing ever because of this experience.

Really poor tasting coffee. After getting a sample I ordered $225 of frozen capsules. Almost all except the joe brand tasted undrinkable. I gifted to a family member who ended up throwing them out citing how terrible they taste

Purchased a one time variety pack and two weeks later I was charged for 56+ capsules, and theee times my original purchase. I wasn’t subscribed to any monthly subs. They refunded my money but if I didn’t catch the charge, I’d have to keep their product.

Disappointing Experience with Customer Service and Discriminatory Behavior I recently visited the Cometeer mall kiosk at Westfield Garden State Plaza., intrigued by their promotion offering free samples to help promote their brand. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but positive, and I left feeling disappointed and unfairly treated. On two separate occasions, I was directly impacted by what I can only describe as inconsistent customer service and, frankly, behavior that felt discriminatory. The first incident occurred when my sister and I visited, and she was handed a free sample of coffee, but when it was my turn to receive mine, I was told that only one coffee could be given per group or couple. I understand rules, but it struck me as odd that the policy was applied so selectively. My sister, clearly part of the same group, had already received her sample, and I was then denied mine with no satisfactory explanation. This felt frustrating and confusing. The second encounter was even more perplexing and disheartening. When I visited again, the staff member continued to move his tip holder away from me while actively asking if I had “never had coffee before.” To me, this felt condescending and borderline racist. I can’t help but feel that his questions were based on my identity, especially given the way he interacted with me versus others. His attitude made me uncomfortable, and I left the store feeling excluded. As someone who has worked in digital marketing for nearly a decade, I understand how crucial brand image, customer experience, and word-of-mouth feedback are to a business’s success. What I experienced at this coffee shop was not just disappointing—it was completely unacceptable. Rather than feeling welcomed or valued as a customer, I was left feeling dismissed and discriminated against. This kind of behavior not only undermines the effectiveness of any marketing campaign but actively damages the brand. Based on my experiences, I would never recommend this coffee shop to others. No promotion or product can make up for the lack of basic respect and professionalism I encountered here.

Beware of Cometeer ‘s overly aggressive billing practices after their introductory offer. The customer service of this company matches the quality of theirs coffee— both extremely unsatisfactory.

I walked into the place after seeing they had free coffee. I really liked the idea as a college student so I asked the girl at the desk if I could buy a couple boxes after seeing them in the fridges they have in the store. She said yes and I said perfect how about if I want them delivered and she said they do deliver (mind you, if it’s a subscription, at this point she probably would be like yes we deliver because it’s a subscription bc how else are customers going to receive their products….). So she told me that I can get 2 boxes free (one that day in person) and another that came with the delivery, and I was like wow okay that’s pretty cool, it’s a good promotion. I placed my purchase and said that I never heard of this place or this concept before and she was saying that it is a cool thing blah blah blah not mentioning the subscription at all. One month later I get another charge to my card for 90$. Turns out this was a subscription and she did not tell me that so they charged my card without giving me any notice or getting permission. On top of that, when I tried to find a phone number to call the next day, they only handle any contact through email. So I emailed and they canceled my subscription but did not apologize for any of it. Lastly, it’s been 10 days and I have not received a refund as they said, so once again I have to email which is dumb because they are making it difficult for me to get my 90$ back. Don’t get me wrong, the coffee is really good, I finished it all quick and was even intending to buy more that week, but after I got charged and found out I was signed up for a subscription without any notice that I was, I am no longer buying from this business and I highly suggest that you consider how hard it is to contact these people and the lack of transparency.

Impossible to cancel your subscription. You can't trust this company. If you can't trust them to cancel a subscription, how can you trust enough to ingest their product?
