This hotel is located near Grandview, not in the middle of Pittsburgh. We chose it because it is near the top of the Duquesne Incline, which allowed us to visit their observation deck and get wonderful photos of Pittsburgh's rivers and city scape. The hotel appears to be located in an industrial area, so there's nothing within walking distance. |The lobby and our room didn't smell fresh, but it was too be expected since both were close to the indoor pool. The desk staff was very polite and accommodating. We left way before breakfast so we could beat traffic, and he said, "Let me at least get you some coffee or juice. " I appreciate that kind of extra attention to service. |Nothing special about the room. It was clean and the TV had plenty of stations. As with most Comfort Inns - it was a good value for the price.

I'm really very satisfied with this stay! The hotel is conveniently located, and the surrounding transportation and dining are all very convenient. The room is clean and tidy, the bedding is comfortable and I sleep very soundly. I especially want to praise the young lady at the front desk for her excellent service attitude! When checking in, they were warm and considerate, patiently answering questions, making people feel particularly cared for.||The facilities are also very complete. The Wi-Fi speed is fast and the shower water pressure is sufficient. It's very comfortable to stay. I especially thank the front desk for their excellent service, which made the entire journey more pleasant! I will definitely choose this place again for my next trip! Highly recommended!||👍

Sold out of rooms. we have a choice reservation. but it was cancelled due to a choice app problem. claimed they called. never got a call or email. only email we received says confirmed when we booked. Update: booked Cambria in Downtown. No issuing using the choice app. It was a wonderful experience unlike here.

We checked in for one night because my son was attending camp in the area. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we entered the room we noticed that it wasn’t very clean. The couch had multiple stains, the bed had crumbs from previous desks and someone else’s hair. We just decided to suck it up for the night. The next morning I was trying to straighten up the sheets and found mouse droppings ON THE BED! Unfortunately, I should have read the reviews of others before booking this hotel. It’s a shame because the staff was really nice but we won’t be returning.

Clean and quiet with a very friendly staff. Enjoyed our stay and felt safe. Would definitely stay there again! I hope they consider adding some more vegan options at breakfast (especially a plant-based milk).

Horrible check-in experience. The manager at the front desk refused to acknowledge our booking from Expedia and told us that our room was unavailable and we had to figure it out on our own. He essentially called us liars and we spent a half hour trying to convince him that we had booked the right room. He was trying to get us to spend more for a room with smaller beds and told us our room didn't exist...which was a lie. I wound up speaking to his manager on HIS CELL PHONE where she told us that our room DID EXIST and she would give us the "one time courtesy" of giving us the room that we had paid for...which DID exist. This took 30 minutes, after we had driven 6 hours with a 2 year old. Once we got into our room, the pull out bed for our toddler had no sheets. We called the front desk to ask for assistance and he told us to go find house keeping and ask them ourselves...LOL!! I didn't realize that this was a DIY hotel experience??Horrible hospitality and confrontational front desk staff. We will stick with Airbnb's and skip the Discomfort Inn, thank you very much!

Absolutely Disgraceful – Avoid This Hotel at All Costs||||If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at Comfort Inn on 1100 Banksville Rd in Pittsburgh was hands down one of the most infuriating, unprofessional, and disrespectful hotel stays of my life. What happened here should be a red flag to anyone considering staying at this location.||||Let’s start with the theft. During my stay, my peacoat—an expensive, sentimental item—disappeared from my room. I immediately reported it to the front desk, expecting at least a show of concern or an attempt to resolve the situation. Instead, I was met with dismissiveness, condescension, and outright denial. No one took accountability, and no serious effort was made to investigate or recover my stolen property. It was swept under the rug like it didn’t matter, and that tells me all I need to know about how this location values its guests.||||The staff here, frankly, have no understanding of customer service. I was spoken to rudely, brushed off, and treated as though I was the problem for daring to raise concerns. There was an ongoing blackout in the area during my stay, and instead of offering support or fair accommodation, the hotel jacked up their prices, gouging customers in the middle of a power crisis. It was shameless. While the lights were out and temperatures dropped, they saw a business opportunity rather than a chance to support the community. This level of greed is unacceptable and downright unethical.||||The rooms themselves were mediocre at best. Dingy halls, outdated decor, and a musty smell that greeted me the moment I opened the door. Cleanliness was questionable, and the comfort level—ironically—was nonexistent. And let’s be honest: no amount of clean sheets can make up for theft and a total lack of human decency.||||This establishment has zero hospitality and even less integrity. The way I was treated—like a nuisance rather than a paying guest—is appalling. And if management reads this, know that your reputation is bleeding. Word of mouth is powerful. People deserve to know what kind of operation is being run here.||||I travel often, and I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels over the years, but this one stands out in the worst possible way. Save yourself the headache, the disrespect, and the risk. There are far better, safer, and more professional places to stay in Pittsburgh.||||Comfort Inn on Banksville Road is a disgrace to the Choice Hotels brand—and a liability to any traveler with expectations of dignity and fairness.

Slept at this hotel for 5 days and my stay was excellent. The hotel was cozy and warm with its staff being helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and were kept cleaned with their daily room services (I appreciate the new towels and bed sheets each day by the cleaning ladies). They have free breakfast which they have good options to eat. They also have a fitness room (treadmill, lift, and weight balls) which were just suitable for my needs. One thing to be mindful, the elevators runs a bit slow so I do advised using the stairs if you are going 1-2 floors up/down. The hotel location is close to downtown Pittsburgh, only just 10-15 minutes drive away. And its nightly price to stay are affordable too so that is a win-win. Overall, great place to stay the night and I will stay again whenever I come back to Pittsburgh.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel last year and the pull out bed was filthy. I travel to Pittsburgh once a year. I am very disappointed by the customer service. My card had an unauthorized transaction over $100...I went to the front desk and was assured it was a hold and would not post. I returned home and transaction posted to my account.. contacted hotel the man that answered at the front desk became loud and told me there wasn't a charge on my card and continued to disagree with me in an unprofessional tone. I choose this hotel because my grandchildren can swim when we're there. I definitely won't be staying again for our yearly trip.

Yelp
Reasonable price for this area. Was right by the road, but surprisingly didn't hear much traffic in the room. Definitely not a hotel that you can get to anything by walking, so you'll need a vehicle. It shows a little age (squeaky shower, leaking faucet, etc), but overall average shape. Free breakfast with a few hot options. Unfortunately, had someone yelling/screaming (sounded angry) in the hallway multiple times in the night and didn't hear any staff come to try and quiet them down. I felt slightly uneasy, which is why I ultimately gave this a 2-star rating.

Yelp
The rooms were nice sized and clean. The pillows and bedding were horrible. The sheet on my grandson's bed had a medium size hole in It. My bottom sheet had a hole from a cigarette burn in it. The indoor pool is very small. The breakfast was not good. The waffle mix tasted sour. The muffins were not good either. Not the greatest if experiences.

Yelp
Last minute decision to visit our son at the university of Pittsburgh. Found a room at this hotel for 2 nights. Very clean, comfortable and friendly. Especially Terri. She was awesome and sweet. The staff was very attentive to anything we needed. There is breakfast served in the morning. Cereal, waddles , egg and sausage. Biscuits and gravy and lots of other items. Something for everyone!! The room was great. I know I didn't take pics. The sheets smelled clean. Everything was clean. The pillows were comfortable. Lots of plugs for charging devices too. Our stay was great. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Yelp
I booked 2 standard king rooms at this property for my husband and myself along with my daughter and son-in-law. At check-in at 4:45 pm, we told that only one king room was available, and so my daughter and her husband took the room with 2 queen beds. Our room was dirty; there were multiple handprints of some unspecified substance all over the headboard of the bed. My daughter who is 7 months pregnant received a phone call after midnight from the front desk claiming that they never paid for their room and that they needed to leave so another person could stay in the room because the hotel was losing money on it. Needless to say this was very disturbing to all of us. It was resolved but not to my satisfaction. The next morning the breakfast was definitely substandard. The waffle batter was like water. The coffee and orange juice were undrinkable, and the milk for cereal and/or coffee had a weird chemical taste. This hotel was basically a dump for $250 a night and I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again.

Yelp
They charged inflated prices for the game and was told they had a shuttle to the game, the shuttle was a lady driving a car and added too many people to the car so had a women sit on her husbands lap. They said they had a pool but could not get in with door key as told. No one at the front desk when we tried to inquire on the pool and we couldn't call front desk because the room phone didn't work. The room had an odor. Breakfast ended at 10 am even though the game the night before didn't end until after midnight and didn't get back to the hotel until after 1 am waiting in the "shuttle" ride. No one at the desk when we left to discuss with.

Yelp
A little mold on the wall was wondering why my room had an old food smell like garlic but just was tired and wanted to hit the sheets just to find out the comforter was dirty the next day when I went to put water in the fridge well that was the smell old Texas roadhouse meal in the fridge smh I did call the front desk someone came up and sprayed which was nice

Yelp
Good hotel. Checked in before the Steelers game. They offered a "shuttle" which is not the typical shuttle we expected. $15 cash per person for round trip. It's more of personal drivers that take you and pick you up from the game. The driver we had was great; pick up service after the game was ok - multiple groups waiting and people jumping in the car as it arrived - not as organized. Hotel room was spacious. Clean. TV pulls out & turns towards bed. Breakfast is basic and slow to refill. Front desk associates are nice.

Yelp
Clean and brand-spanking new looking, this Comfort Inn made for a very comfortable stay in Pittsburgh. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 1 night on a Friday-Saturday stay and we were surprised at how new this hotel looked. We stayed in a King Size Bed room, which included a wall-mounted LG LCD, a microwave and mini refridgerator. The room was roomie and very clean. In addition, the hotel also provided a complimentary hot breakfast from 6-9am. Unlike the room, the breakfast was a bit disappointing. There wasn't much of a selection, but the eggs that were served weren't great and the sausages were just OK. The eggs were not scrambled, but in an odd form I had never seen. The eggs were flat, with the yoke in the middle, but the yoke had solidified with the whites. The breakfast also included bananas, apples, oranges, cereal, mini muffins, danishes, waffles, yogurt, coffee and juices (orange and apple). Despite the disappointing breakfast, I would still definitely recommend this Comfort Inn because the cleanliness of hotel and rooms and the rather low price of a stay.

Yelp
From the start, the staff was extremely friendly. We got up to our room, which was very reasonably priced for Labor Day weekend, and it was big and very clean. The elevator did seem a little scary, but that wasn't an issue. The pool was nice and big. Next time I stay, I will remember my bathing suit! All in all, I am fully satisfied with my stay. If I ever do come back to Pittsburgh, I will definitely be staying there again!

Yelp
We used this hotel for our family vacation and it was a great stay. The front desk clerk went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. It was in a great location with not too much traffic. The room was a nice size and the pool was great for the kids. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area.

Yelp
Weekend in Pittsburgh and some spare honors points to burn. My brother suggested this particular hotel for its location. Full disclosure: I prefer staying over by Robinson because it's an area I know. Here we are trying something different on the other side of town. I will not hold the location of this place against it. But really it's not an area I'd go out of way to stay at under different circumstances. The traffic getting over there near the Liberty bridge is a B on a normal day. While I'll give them a break on location, there are other things that just don't work. One elevator. One. For a busy hotel, having only one elevator just makes no sense to me. Also, breakfast is a total cluster. So many people, not enough tables, not enough food. They ran out of simple things really quickly. Like ketchup and coffee. It also seems like there's approximately one housekeeper for the building who couldn't get around to our room until 2:30 right as we were coming back. And the thing that makes this place difficult for me to want to return to? The Internet is probably one of the worst of any place I've stayed to date. It's great to have it but only if it actually works. It dropped out constantly and you could load no pages when in use. We're the rooms nice and the decor overall lovely? Yes, it's actually a very nice suite setup, but the little annoying things were hard to let go. I can tolerate a lot if the Internet is decent. I know it's terrible to base so much on that, but we all know the stakes here. This hotel should seem far promising than it actually turns out to be. It just seemed to miss the mark in too many ways in my opinion.

James B.

Yelp
Very nice. Not the newest but the staff is really nice. The coffee machine was not working and the owner personally went to the kitchen and made me a cup of coffee without me even asking. Great customer service!!

Jeff M.

Yelp
Just checked in - you might have heard about this raging pandemic? Clerk, no mask. "I've never worn one. I have a breathing problem." If management is dumb enough to go along with that s*** God knows what else they put up with. Booked for five nights, checking out after one. Not going to attach a pic of the guy but I'll send you one if you like, Choice Hotels.

Yelp
Stayed here for a work trip, and it was everything I needed. The hotel is clean and fairly new, and the staff is friendly. There is a gym and a pool which is nice. The gym could use a couple of updates- some free weights would be good, and the buttons on the treadmill and stationary bike get pretty stuck so they're basically useless. I didn't parttake in the free breakfast, but from what I could see it looked pretty solid for a hotel buffet breakfast. The location is also pretty convenient since its just a short drive to the strip and downtown. Overall, pretty standard, but good!

Yelp
I am Diamond member with Choice hotels and I have never been treated so poorly at any hotel in my 20 years of corporate travel. In the middle of the worst thunderstorm in decades with flash floods all over Pennsylvania the manager in this hotel gave away my guaranteed reservation because he could sell it for more after midnight. These people are scum and deserve none of your travel dollars. Diamond Club... Over 100 nights with Choice Hotels last year... How much do you think they care about your stay? 1 in the morning in the lobby and this profiteer is literally standing over me blathering about the fine print in something on the website while I try to book another room. He has totally refocused my efforts on writing a review so the world can feel how this kind of welcome feels after a 3 hour drive that took 6 hours. Please sir, continue to berate me and tell me how this my fault because I did not answer my phone when you called less than an hour to ago to alert me that you were giving my room away. Yes continue please... show me the names of the other three guests you will put out on the street tonight. Knowing that I am not the only one makes me feel... like you are an even bigger snake! Perhaps you could help me find a room nearby? Nope not even a mention of that no idea who has rooms tonight and you don't care where I stay as long as it not with you... Ahhh no worries kind sir...I was able to find another room nearby. Thank you so very much for all you have done for me tonight.

Yelp
Super clean and super nice. Breakfast was great. Coffee available all day. Pool was new and clean. Perfect location- 2 miles to downtown. Only thing that stunk was check in was at 3 and our room wasn't ready until after 3:30. Not usually a big deal but when traveling with kids- that makes things hard.

Yelp
I usually stay at this hotel when in Pittsburgh and really like it! Super friendly staff, always easy parking, quiet (the walls aren't paper thin), spacious rooms and always a good rate when I'm staying here. It also isn't far at all from the main/central part of Pittsburgh!
google avatar

Yelp
My best friend and I stayed in this location and naturally as a choice member she decided we should check in for some overdue R&R. The staff especially Larry were absolutely amazing! The room was remodeled and immaculate! The indoor pool was clean, stocked with towels, modern furnishings and heated! Breakfast is included and there's a small semi secluded covered outdoor space to get air, smoke or even grill if you chose! Super impressed with the entire experience especially the price! Awesome accommodations!

Yelp
Not sure what the lackluster reviews are about for this place. It's brand new. It's reasonably priced through any third-party vendor. The location is convenient. It's clean. The staff is friendly. Not much more I could expect. For the people complaining about the breakfast...it's a free continental breakfast. No...the eggs are not prepared by Wolfgang Puck, but in a pinch, if you want to get some free food in your gut before embarking on the day, this gets the job done. If you want a really delicious breakfast, go somewhere and pay for it. The scrambled eggs and bacon were serviceable. Would I be disappointed if I went out to breakfast and got served the same stuff? Certainly. Are they reminiscent of the bacon and eggs I ate at a strip club buffet in 2009? Yes, but that's neither here nor there. I've stayed here twice in the last two months and the only gripes I have are that the Wi-Fi sucks, so you need to use a personal hotspot and the address of the place can send your GPS on a long detour depending on where you're coming from. There's a road that runs up behind the place (Banksville Ave., not Banksville Rd.) between the hotel and the light at Crane. You'll can save time by using that - otherwise you'll get routed through downtown 85% of the time.

Yelp
It seems that they revamped the whole establishment in past year or so. Everything including lobby, breakfast area and rooms appear new and shiny. Being nostalgic about this area, I decided to stay here instead of downtown. Good decision! We stayed overnight and our bed was really comfortable. Washrooms again had shiny new faucets with clean and fresh feeling. I had some questions regarding my credit card charges and they were met with patience and courteous service. Plenty of parking. Downtown is less than 10 mins drive so you can save a few bucks which would be definitely more than weekend parking near PNC park. Very happy with my stay.

Yelp
I had a good staying here, employees are friendly and ready to help you out anytime if you have any request. Hot breakfast, and very good coffees i can say which i liked it, they have decent clean pool and Gym. All over good stay and i will stay again. I took it out 1 star not particular reason but still they can do better for 5th star. Thanks

Yelp
Very underrated hotel with new amenities and lovely front desk staff. The exercise room, pool and lounge are great. The hotel and rooms are modern and incredibly clean. We had booked a double room with a sofa bed through a third party but the room we received on check in did not have the sofa bed. The woman at the front was very helpful and within 5 minutes we were moved to a new room with the beds we needed. We were very happy with the service. The beds were comfortable and the shower head had great pressure. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area! Great price and multiple restaurants nearby also.

Yelp
It was ok. The food was ok. The service was ok. The room was huge though. I loved them. Two beds, a futon, a tv, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a nice bathroom. The pool was a little small, considering how many people would be staying there. The gym was nice too. They also offered lemon water, trail mix, and fruit downstairs. The walls were thin though. You could hear everything from the other rooms. Overall, it was ok.

Yelp
checked in October 18th at 9:00pm Day shift clerk was pleasant. Nice rooms for the price. Room had microwave, cofee maker, and small fridge. breakfast area is well stocked and clean. There is an indoor pool and a laundry room

Yelp
I tried calling multiple times to make a reservation at this hotel and no one ever answered the phone. I finally ended up calling Choice main customer service, who verified that this was the correct number. At one point I called and it rang and rang, then someone picked up the phone just to hang it up again. I don't know anything about this hotel other than with this kind of miserable customer service, I don't know why anyone would choose to stay here.

Yelp
Great breakfast. Awesome pool, it needs to be warmed up a little more for my liking. Clean and comfy rooms. I totally recommend this place!

Yelp
We just stayed there great location! Close to everything price great. Breakfast great. Coffee all day. We had pool to ourselves. Gym.. Frontdesk friendly Vinny n Maryellen for breakfast area. Clean rooms n hotel. Definitely worth it .. was like 10 min to get to stadium ,casino downtown . Definite I would stay again

Alyssa H.

Yelp
We were visiting from Denver and everything about our stay here was great! The staff were especially personable and helpful. The room was beautiful...very clean and very well-maintained! We would absolutely recommend this location for those looking for an affordable hotel in Pittsburgh!

Yelp
No complaints about our 3 night stay here. Couple miles to downtown, but can be confusing to drive around as it's on a one way and you always feel you're circling around (which I think you are in Pittsburgh). This was a no brainer for us with a 3 night stay, 3 kids. Free hot breakfast saved us a bundle on eating out, and kids loved the pool. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. You need a car to get around, nothing is in walking distance but like I said, short drive. We are from outside of Toronto and found the traffic extremely manageable, even the night of a Pen's game.

Yelp
Crappy motel. First one of the card keys they gave me were faulty. When I pointed out the defective key was the old school swipe type of card, the clerk assured me it would work on the automatic locks. After two trips telling her no in fact it didn't work, she finally gave me a new card. The suite we rented was okay. The floor plan was a bit silly with the couch/lounge area positioned far from the TV. The crib we asked for was filthy dirty with food and other assorted fluid stains. When I asked for a crib sheet, they acted like I asked for the moon. Of course they don't have appropriate sized sheets or blankets available to cover the disgusting stains. On one of my many trips to the front desk, I slipped on a slick patch on the floor and fell heavily. When I told the clerk, she asked me to show her where. I did limping all the way. She never apologized, asked me if I were okay, and worst of all insisted I fill out an accident report (on a random blank sheet of paper) while ignoring the slick floor - another accident waiting to happen for the next unsuspecting person.

Yelp
We spent three nights at this new hotel. The good news: clean, in-door pool, pretty quick ride to downtown Pittsburgh. The bad: for a new hotel this place has VERY NOISY air conditioners--so loud that they interfered with our sleep. The building is new and yet the ice machine (also VERY noisy) was out of order during our stay and one of the towel racks in the bathroom was already coming off the wall. We had NO wifi in our room despite the efforts of the front desk clerk who came to our room to get it going. The biggest problem: This is a large hotel with a VERY small breakfast area. Guests were eating in the lobby and taking things to their rooms because there were no seats available, even at 7:30am when we were usually having breakfast. We cannot recommend this hotel.

Jay B.

Yelp
I made a reservation on Expedia.com. I booked 2 rooms because a friend grew up in Dormont and wanted to stay close to Potomac ave while she was in town. I booked the rooms for 2 adults and 2 kids in each room. I left a message through Expedia asking if they had a pool and if I could get connecting rooms. The hotel rep who replied said that the pool was for registered guests only and no pool parties are allowed. Also they did not have connecting rooms. I was so confused. I never mentioned anything about a pool party. I was hoping that they had an indoor pool so the kids could have something to do during our stay. What hotel rep responds that way. I guess when you ask if they have a pool they assume you want to have a pool party! Isn't the pool there for the guests to use? I cancelled those rooms immediately, if you treat customers like that by making accusations because I asked a question, I will spend my money somewhere else. That was the first and last impression. Beware of hotels like this. If your children are not welcomed to play in the pool, go somewhere else.I will never spend my money at a hotel where children are not welcomed!

Savannah C.

Yelp
My dad is in a wheelchair and needs a roll- in shower, not a tub with a chair. My parents stayed there in March, and everything was great, they were given a room with a roll-in shower. They just called and wanted to book another room and they asked for the room with the roll-in shower that they previously had. They man on the phone first said they didn't have rooms with a roll in shower and then when questioned (because my parents had stayed in a room with a roll in shower at that location) he said all the roll in showers were taken out and are now gone. When asked politely to speak to a manager or someone higher up, we were transferred to a line where no one picked up. I called again, spoke to a different women, she proceeded to again transfer me to a line where I was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I then hung up and booked a hotel somewhere else. I would never recommend this place as they clearly do not abide by ADA standards. They will be reported and hopefully fix their illegal issues.
