Whatever you do, STAY AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL! The minute we arrived, we were met with a group of people outside the front entrance smoking weed. Not that I mind terribly, but I had my kids with me. They were immediately uncomfortable and turned off. The hotel and staff seemed uninviting. The elevators were scary and unsafe, they ended up breaking down during our stay. The room seemed ok, however, the next morning, my kids were bitten up. We pulled back the sheets and found there to be bed bugs. Disgusted, I immediately called the front desk. I was noticeably upset, asked for a manager, to be moved rooms, or to be reimbursed so I could go to another hotel. The front desk gentlemen, Donnie, was verbally abusive, rude and completely non-empathetic to the fact that my kids had bed bug bites all over them. He ended up dismissing my feelings, said he did what I requested in contacting a manger, and proceeded to hang up on me. He stated I was screaming at him belligerent, crazy! NOT TRUE! I went back up to my room to wait for a manager in hopes she would understand my grievances. Ms. Selena Griffin, the supposed manager on duty, came to our room, also didn’t give a damn. She stated that I too was acting crazy, (in front of my kids) stated hotels have bed bugs, and she’ll move me to another room. We didn’t know where else to go, so we stayed in another room (which the fan wasn’t working properly, the lamp didn’t work, wood was feeling off the furniture) but after the way myself and my children were treated, we were too afraid to make any further complaints. A gentlemen whom was staying in a room across from ours, stated that he was there with a school group and complained that his student too had bed bugs and that she was staying in the room right next to our original room. I felt terrible for him and his students. He too stated he was uncomfortable staying in the hotel. I have stayed at many Choice Hotels and have always enjoyed my stay. After this appalling experience, I will never again! We were given a free night out of our three, but that doesn’t make it right by any means. Train your staff better! Clean your hotel, and take a etiquette class or two. No one should come out of a hotel stay looking or feeling the way myself and my kids do.
