The 8 Best Restaurants in Taos, New Mexico - Eater

"Located in El Prado, just north of Taos, Common Fire changes its menu according to seasons only a Taoseño would recognize: first winter, second winter, and monsoon. Here you’ll find comfort food favorites like chicken soup with house-made noodles, barbecue short ribs, and mustard-spiked mac and cheese. All of the bread is made in house, and the selection of wood-fired pizzas and flatbreads also showcases the kitchen’s deft dough skills. [$$]" - Justin De La Rosa

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to so far for atmosphere and quality of food! The service was a little slow and we were somewhat neglected at first, but the food made up for the service. We ordered a few drinks, extremely reasonably priced, and a margarita pizza to share. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and not too salty, the cheese was fresh, and the crust...their bread is just to die for!

Spent Thanksgiving this year in Taos (visiting from Denver Colorado), my girlfriend and I went here for dinner. It was awesome, we were glad to spend the evening here and the service was excellent! Nice vibe and great they were open on Thanksgiving. Had the wagau steak and would definitely recommend.

Soft spoken waitress, a wonderful porch, neverending water, great music (e.g. Chet Baker, Tom Waits), nicely priced local draughts, and an enticing menu. The bread is truly one of the best I can remember. Mac and Cheese are grown up tasting and I will certainly try to recreate them, green curry nicely spiced and with a surprisingly non-Asian mix of veggies (peas, carrots, zucchini, celery). Every dish was tasty, well prepared, and incorporated a pleasant surprise. We ended the meal by sharing a morsel of fudge. We hadn't quite left when we started discussing our return to this wonderful restaurant.

Wonderful ambience & great music! The flatbreads are delicious. Didn't care for the Lil Dipper, their take on the French Dip, needed horseradish. But the views made up for this tenfold.

Beautiful outdoor patio to enjoy delicious food. Found the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Service was good too. We had the smoked salmon tacos and roasted corn and asparagus and the hummus plate. Everything was fresh and lovely.

Overall, a fun experience. The bread is out of this world good. Several of the entrees were also excellent. The braised lamb was a bit overcooked and under seasoned. Along with being hastily prepared and presented, it was just ok. Good beer and wine selection. The wines, while very eclectic, did seem lacking in the reds with only 3 options. I appreciate offering off-centered eclectic wines, but there could have been a couple of other choices in my opinion. The staff is VERY pleasant and attentive. However, the feel of the room seems a touch chaotic with only one main server working the floor. Overall, worth visiting and trying their interesting menu.

Relaxed atmosphere and owner's true love of food comes through. Reasonable prices with good portion size. Love the big green salad although found the summer version a bit light and lacking in complexity compared to the one I had in winter that was memorable enough to make me return again for that salad. Not so true this time. Pork shank dinner was saucy and spicy and meat was falling of the bone... Perfection. Should have gotten some bread to soak up the sauce but was to full. Love the 10 oz beer for $3. Thanks Common fire for a fair price beverage... Made me want to try several 😀. We will be back. Patio looked nice but was still full at 830p. No problem, inside is comfortable and kitchen views are a fun distraction anyway.
