"An inspiring extension of the hotel’s sustainability ethos, this nearby regenerative farm led us through its biodiverse “food forest” and then served a hyper-local meal sourced entirely from within a 20-mile radius—only the salt and oil came from elsewhere in Hawaii—showcasing a way of farming that emulates nature." - Claudia Fisher Claudia Fisher Claudia Fisher writes, edits, and strategizes for women's lifestyle publications in NYC, with a special interest in beauty and style. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Common Ground. From the option to explore the stone dam, to the farm tour and then the exceptional meal, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. I was particularly grateful for the care that the team gave to our dietary request. We also had the pleasure of talking with Chef Marcus after our meal, and hope to come back on our next trip! We highly recommend this exceptional venue for anyone looking for a first-class, beautifully sourced meal in a lovely setting, with the bonus of learning about the benefits of regenerative farming.

Google
We did the farm tour and dinner after, and loved it! It was interesting to learn about the sustainable farming practices. All the food is from the island, most right there from on property. We even saw the chef go out to get a few herbs and vegetables for dinner! Relaxing pace for the tour and dinner. My kids (15, 12) and I arrived early to do the short hike to the waterfall at Stone Dam (beautiful, easy hike, we did it in dresses / flip flops, though be warned it is mostly unshaded and was quite warm on our day. Depending on yourself, you may want sturdier footwear and clothing). Dinner was 100% local and so good! Even our picky eater found stuff they liked, especially dessert. Dinner changes frequently based on what's in season, but that's the fun. We relaxed after as well on the covered porch with a beverage. Family friendly, there is open area near the dining area if you need to walk around with kiddos. Highlight for our kids (besides the food) was Charlie the farm dog. Highly recommend, worth the price for the experience!

My wife and I had a great time at Common Ground last night. We booked the tour, dinner and lea making. Everything was great. The tour was very interesting and then dinner was very good. Finished off with the lea making which was also fun and something different. Purchased a few locally made items from the gift shop. Highly recommended if you want to see and experience something truly local. We also got a discount through the Westin Princeville.

Google
Great farm tour by Will and Karen. Very informative. We also had the dinner and dessert which was amazing. Everything that we ate was from the islands. From the farm or from another island. Wonderful afternoon. Definitely shop and support farmer’s markets. We also visited the beautiful easy walk to the Stone Dam. Fun times.

Emmily B.

Google
Absolutely loved this! Great light hike to the dam prior to arrival. The tour was wonderful, they started us off with a complimentary mocktail. Our guide was very informative. She enjoyed our 6 year old on the tour and gave her lots of food to try. The tea to try on the tour was nice. The meal was to die for. Everything used was from the farm or local farmer. Love that this is a fully regenerative Farm and trying to instill and reteach the Hawaiian lifestyle.

Google
Interesting experience but the food was not as good as we’d hoped. A beet bisque was the highlight. Other dishes lacked a cohesiveness and a distinct impression of random ingredients tossed together and not really properly seasoned. The pricing reflects the experience and not so much the food value. That said, we created warm memories as a family dining together in a beautiful garden setting.

Melissa B.

Google
Highly recommend this incredible tour of the farm. We learned about agroforestry and saw plants growing that were prepared for dinner. It was such a simple, nature-focused experience.

Claudia S.

Google
This is an experience worth having. You learn so much about agriculture in Hawaii and the importance of regenerative farming. And you'll enjoy one of the best meals you've ever had. I definitely recommend trying it out.

Yelp
Did a tour, dinner, and lei-making program. This place and this tour are still in developmental mode. "Hippy-dippy" is the FIRST feeling I got from this experience. But, I walked away feeling like a scientific process is the basis for this farm's future. Liked how they discussed/presented the animal use on the farm for regenerative soil. They had lots of umbrellas available, which was really good-- and really needed. Recommend borrowing one of their umbrellas even if it's sunny when you start the tour. Would like to have had a bit more "jokey" entertainment during the tour. Drinks were expensive. Dinner food was good, but not to-die-for memorable-- other than the use of farm's flowers in the food it wasn't too noteworthy. I can tell that the chef did a fantastic job of preparing the food. Restroom was clean and nice. The head-wear lei making was really cool. This part of the experience made our visit great-- moving it from a 3-star to a 4-star rating. The three ladies that helped us make the leis did it really well. However, they offered to take pictures of us with our phones, and their pictures turned-out so-so with lighting. Would recommend this for anyone who hasn't done this before, but I will wait a couple years before returning to see how this tour has improved.

Yelp
We enjoyed an absolutely magical evening at Common Ground! Our experience began with a lovely greeting from Prema, our host and Experience Manager. We were given all the information we needed to enjoy a pre-dinner hike to the Stone Dam, which included waterfalls and a lovely tropical garden. Next, we met Ro for a group tour through one of the property's regenerative forest gardens. We learned so much about the garden structure, benefits and different plants with the histories on the island. As our tour concluded, our chef greeted us with an overview of the farm to table meal we would enjoy with 100% of the food to be known and traceable origin. Most of the ingredients were direct from the farm! Our meal was nothing short of amazing! Local greens, ono fish cake with tree tomato gazpacho, braised beef with taro mash, collard greens and Japanese eggplant, topped off with a gorgeous mango sorbet. The bar also has a great selection of wine and fresh ingredient cocktails/mocktails to complement your meal. We will treasure this beautiful experience and look forward to returning in the future. Mahalo Common Ground!

Yelp
Common Ground in Kaua'i is more than just a farm tour - it's a deeply nourishing journey into regenerative agriculture, local culture, and culinary artistry. From start to finish, the experience is intentional, immersive, and absolutely unforgettable. As someone with a deep appreciation for sustainable farming, I was blown away by the passion and knowledge shared throughout the tour. The commitment to regenerative practices isn't just talked about - it's lived here. Walking through the thriving landscape, you get to see firsthand how food can be grown in harmony with the earth, and it's both educational and genuinely inspiring. The culinary experience? Next level. Every bite was vibrant, fresh, and rooted in the local bounty - a perfect reflection of the land it came from. The chefs crafted dishes that were not only delicious but full of purpose and story. Paired with fresh-made cocktails (crafted with the same farm-grown ingredients), it felt like a true celebration of place. The drinks alone deserve their own five-star rating! A beautiful surprise addition was the lei-making workshop. It was such a joyful, grounding moment - hands-on, creative, and filled with the spirit of aloha. Sitting in the open air, surrounded by flowers and good company, it felt like a peaceful pause woven into an already incredible experience. Whether you're a foodie, a farmer, a creative, or just someone curious about where good food really comes from, Common Ground offers something special. It's thoughtful, authentic, and full of heart. I left feeling inspired, connected, and already planning how I'll plant my next garden/mini farm. (No relation to the Netflix series by the same name, but what a collaboration opportunity waiting to happen?!)

Yelp
Delicious meal that was a treat for our whole group, which needed to accommodate gluten free - Celiac, dairy and nuts sensitivities and two small children. The meal had "wow" moments with each course, full of artistic presentation and novel local flavors from hyperlocal ingredients. Within our group we reflected that it's rare to have such a hearty meal (in this case 4 courses) that actually leaves you feeling refreshed. We did the dinner and lei making which was very fun. The plants and orchids used in the leis were beautiful and smelled amazing. I only wish we had a chance to learn more about the regenerative practices on the farm, perhaps for that we needed to sign up for the farm tour. Ideally we would have been able to do the farm tour, dinner and lei making all in one itinerary. Would definitely do this again and recommend to others!

Yelp
The island is so pretty already but the Farm to Table was an incredible experience. Our company hosted an event here. Everyone there is dedicated and passionate about what they provide. The ginger flower smell was in my drink and I couldn't stop smelling because it smelled so good the little hike by the dam was also good. Thank you!

Yelp
My husband and I were excited for a unique experience on our 2nd trip to Kauai. I thought the farm tour and dinner at Common Ground was interesting but has room for improvement. First off, we tried to go early for the Stone Dam walk they advertise but couldn't find it. There were no signs or maps and no one greeted us. Another dinner was going on and the staff didn't acknowledge us. It felt kind of weird and like we were intruding. We finally did find a road to the stone dam but it said "no entry"... we went down anyway but it was unmarked after the first sign so we turned back. The tour started later than advertised. The tour guide was inexperienced/nervous and not well informed. He shared a lot of interesting "facts" but my husband and I have good general knowledge and particular interests in culinary and gardening so we didn't really learn anything new. The guide actually said a few things that were incorrect. We didn't hear much about the history or inspiration for Common Ground. When the chef came out, post tour, I expected him to go over the menu and share inspiration and sources for all the food. He didn't do that. He just kind of said, "go eat!" I would love to have heard more about why they chose the items on the menu and what was actually in everything/how it was prepared. I just expected a lot more focus on the food than there was! There were no serving utensils out when we got to the buffet... fellow guests founds them in a basket and put them out. The food itself was very good! It was cool to try some new things and things I wouldn't normally choose for myself if I was at a restaurant. I have no idea what was in some of the dishes because the menu board wasn't specific. I was disappointed that the only drinks included were tea and water. Their cocktails were pricy and they ran out of the one that sounded remotely worth $18. I was VERY disappointed there was no dessert. The tour guide teased dessert but was actually just telling us to buy $20 chocolate bars from the gift shop. I heard a few people express confusion about that, thinking there were chocolates for us. Overall I think this experience needs to add more to make it worth the cost. Better customer service and training, more background and informative tours, maybe an h'orderves before the tour? A signature drink besides tea? A dessert!

Yelp
The farm is beautiful. The tour was not very entertaining. Tour guide gave a lot of interesting information, but it kind of went long on certain topics. Would have liked to walk more of the farm including the cows they had out back. Cocktails are pricey and so was the lunch $135 per adult and $65 for kids. In my opinion, you can spend the money in a better experience. Definitely not worth it for the kids who barely ate the food. Definitely geared for adults that are up for something new being open minded and to try new things. There concept is great, grow and eat everything from the islands. For me it's a one time experience only.

Yelp
We did the farm tour and dinner tonight at Common Ground Kauai!! Kalani was our farm guide and he was awesome! His explanation of the farming system, plants and different food sources was informative, interesting and we could all tell that he has a passion for what he does! He explained so much but he did it in a way that was very conversational. After the tour that 4 course dinner created from foods grown/sourced from the farm was delicious! We highly recommend this tour!

Yelp
I'd like to start by saying I really admire and respect the mission of common ground. It's so important to take care of our soil & farm responsibly. However, the evening we booked at CG was overpriced and felt like a school field trip. When I booked I imagined walking through the farm trying lush fruits and herbs. - no just tea they sell in the shop. The dinner courses were incredibly spaced out and left the staff walking awkwardly around convincing everyone it was tasty. "Good right?" Drinks were not included. We left before the lei making because we didn't want to miss a sunset in Kauai. I think this event would work better as a morning breakfast or lunch situation since it is so slow paced. It just didn't feel like something to do going into the evening. The staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Just wasn't something we really enjoyed for the price we paid. Perfect for those who are into horticulture and like a slow paced event.

Yelp
Farm to table. Regenerative farming. Agro Forestry. Sustainability. These are some of the terms that the crew will introduce you to as you browse a small part of their farm, and explain the history, function, and future of Common Ground, and Hawaii. All of the crew was great, and had awesome rapport. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and had such a great passion for their mission. Food was decent, and about as fresh as you can get. Their menu changes so I won't speak on anything in particular, other than that the experience is worth the price. They source their ingredients from their own farm and local farms, so you know it's all fresh. I think it's worth it to experience something like this, and learn about what "living off the land'" can really mean. I hope they continue to grow and bring a more sustainable future for posterity!

Yelp
Amazing and the highlight of our trip! We were talking to other guests at our hotel and they were raving about the amazing experience they had at Common Ground. Reservations are needed and we wanted to go same day. I called and they were able to work us in. I'm so glad they did! We were advised to arrive an hour early if we wanted to walk to the stone dam. We did and what an amazing walk it was. You get to explore the beautiful backcountry and see a dam built in the 1800s. It was a beautiful walk, the trail is well marked with signs but it does get muddy in a couple of spots. The staff saw us pull in and handed us umbrellas prior to us heading out. The tour was super informative. Why does Kauai import 90% of the food people eat? That's a good question and these guys have the answer. They show how they grow food using methods that are good for the land without relying on pesticides and other destructive practices. There is so much information about this, they do a good job at giving you a good overview. After the tour, it was time to eat. We were beyond impressed with the meal that was prepared with 100% Hawaii ingredients down to the oil and spices. They did a great job in explaining what went into every dish. I'm pretty hard to impress with food but I was actually impressed with every single dish presented. This was served buffet style and there was plenty of food offered. Dessert was a selection of local fruits. They do not refine sugar in the islands so don't expect dessert to consist of chocolate cake. Even the signature cocktail offered relied on syrups they made themselves with local fruit. We would have loved to have spent the whole day with the crew there. Super informative and after being in Kauai many times, this is the best thing we've ever done!

Yelp
What a hidden gem Common Ground Kauai is! If you are looking for a unique experience and to really learn about the amazing food grown in Kauai this is a must. The tour was informative and gets you thinking about what you want to start growing at home. The dinner was delicious and fresh! The staff is super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for a gourmet meal in a beautiful setting away from the crowds this is it.

Yelp
I highly recommend visiting Common Ground. Our visit included the Lei making with Elvirine Chow. I have taken other lei making workshops on Kauai and this was by far the most wonderful one. Not only is Elvrine the teacher with the best vibes I have encountered, I also found the materials and environment so supportive to creativity. Also, there were children in my class, and I could see how supported they felt to the process. Elvrine made a real effort to help all of us engage in (her words) perpetuating the art of Lei making. She is a real gem. As to the serious work Common Ground is doing to further agroforestry as a practice, I was educated and inspired by their mission. I will go again, because our group toured in a real downpour of rain! Despite that, I still learned a lot! Don't be discouraged if weather is a factor in your visit. The food! The farm to table experience was really memorable. Four courses. The salad was remarkable. A variety of textures, vinaigrette made from vinegar sourced from their farm, little nuggets of something divine I didn't quite figure out. Amazing. Short rib and taro/ubu gnocchi with mac pesto. Dragon fruit sorbet. A meal I will remember. The service of the food is casual yet very attentive. Just what I wanted. 100 % value and a great experience!!

Yelp
We signed up for the 4 o'clock dinner and 5 o'clock lei-making class. As instructed we showed up at 3:45. No one greeted us when we arrived.m and we were confused when no other people showed up. As we made our way inside, we checked in, were shown to a gift shop, and told where some water could be found. We were still not told what to expect at this point. We found a place to sit and waited. Not once did anyone mention "we have a tour group currently touring the farm, and they are running late. We'll start dinner when they get back..." or anything of the sort. 35 minutes later, the tour group got back from touring the farm. The chef came out and introduced to them briefly what the meal would include. We were excluded from this discussion and felt very out of place. The food... having chosen this location based on other reviews for "best food on the island," we were quite unimpressed. Most of the food was over-spiced: - mint & radish were WAY too strong in the salad - strong kimchi alongside the frittata - beef was way oversalted - alongside the beef we were served bitter beans Having arrived separately from the group doing the farm tour, we sat isolated at the other side of the dining area. While the director came and said hi, he never introduced himself by name. He assumed we were there for a different tour. We felt more out of place when, at 4:15, he looked at his watch and asked if we were there for the 5 o'clock tour. Nope, your operations are just running behind... The entire experience could use some improvement. If I could give some advice, it would be this: - give your employees name tags - be punctual. We wasted over half an hour waiting for the tour group to come back. If you tell us 3:45, someone should be there AT 3:45 to let us know what's going to happen, when. - make it clear what is/isn't included in the meal. We were told many times to "go get drinks," referring to the mocktails, cocktails, and other drink options. Drinks were NOT included in the $130/plate meal. On this topic... list out your drink prices! - explain what is in the meal, and why you've chosen it. Tell us what grew where and explain the health benefits. - go visit other agro-tours on the island. Check out Lydgate farms. They do a wonderful job welcoming people, presenting a lively tour and experience. They are engaging and fun. Common Ground is not... On the Lei-making side: - Ivory and Hi'i were both amazing and warm. If anything, they should be the face of your operation. They were welcoming, polite, and set clear expectations for what we would be doing.

Yelp
My sons and I had a wonderful tour and dinner, the staff was educated and friendly. It's the best meal we have had in a week!

Rebecca N.

Yelp
What a great experience!!! The farm is amazing, meticulously organized and efficiently run. Truly, it's a work of art. The staff were all friendly, warm, and helpful. The farm tour was nice. I was hoping for more opportunities to eat fruit straight off the tree but it was more educational. The dinner was SO good! I loved it, my husband loved it, my picky kid ate some of it and my non-picky kid loved it. It was 100% island made farm-to-table. The lei making class afterward was a perfect ending activity. The two young women teaching the class were so sweet and helpful, and they were really fun! Overall I would definitely recommend this opportunity, and we will definitely return here next time we are on island.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Very unique experience and Willow (our tour guide) was extremely passionate and very knowledgeable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great and beautifully presented. It was educational and fun. We enjoyed the lei making a lot as well. Overall we enjoyed it very much.

Eric Inaba I.

Yelp
If you like healthy food and to experience the island culture, this is the place to go! When we walked up we were greeted like if you were attending a family gathering.! After we received the details for our event, we were offered water or beverage from a small bar. We opted for the dinner n lei making class. Dinner was great with fresh healthy options sourced locally. We sat at a large table with a group that just returned from a farm tour. This was nice because it gave it a luau family vibe. We met a lovely couple with their 4 1/2 yr old son who was very polite with a big personality. I need to take the tour of the farm on my next visit to comment more on the sourcing of the ingredients of our meal. The lei making was after our meal on another piece of the property by a pond. I wish I remembered the name of the ladies who ran the class. The lady who ran the class has a book on how to make leis and offered to sign it for us. Her helper was a sweet young woman that had talents of making leis from a child. As I understand the property has gone through iterations and is ready to embark on another, so I would recommend in checking out their website or giving them call to receive their latest offerings. Thank you to the entire staff and welcoming us as family, the special gift for our anniversary n your aloha spirit!

Yelp
We attended a tour in October and had a wonderful experience. My husband loves reading about regenerative farming and thought the tour was really informative and we all learned a lot of interesting facts about local Hawaii produce and farming. The food itself was incredible. All locally sourced and really interesting stuff we haven't had in Hawaii before. All the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend using some bug spray before you go as the mosquitos were definitely prolific. Highly recommend and I would do it again.

Yelp
The opportunity to create an educational, interesting, tasty, and engaging tour is completely missed. Coming from the foodie mecca in northern california, The Gourmet Ghetto, we are very familiar with farm to table concept kitchens. We have experienced it done very well, and now we've experienced it done very poorly. It's sad really, because the passion is clearly there, the folks running it don't seem to have hospitality experience at all. Upon arrival there is no direction provided as to what to expect. We waited for about 30 minutes while others arrived. Finally, a young woman came out and gathered us. She then said that we would all go around the circle and introduce ourselves and tell something. I don't know about anyone else, but our family wasn't comfortable doing this. The "farm tour" if you can call it that only took us about 40 feet from the pavilion. We walked out to some stands of fruits and medicinal plants. We tried some tea. We then listened to a 90 minute dissertation on the evils of "big pharma" "big food producers" etc. Which is fine, we agree with some of this and disagree with some of the claims. While listening to the political opinions, etc. We enjoyed getting bitten by some sort of bug - later that evening my hand swelled up and my kids legs had large, painful lumps. We took benedryl when we got back to our house. We were told it was open seating, when dinner was finally going to be served... There was some confusion - but it worked out fine. Three dishes and a dessert were served. There were some interesting flavors. The portions were "ok". the food selection (recipes) were hit or miss. Taro gnocchi should probably not be tough and cold. All in all - not worth the money. Sadly... it would be amazing to see these folks do well. The 90 minute talk could be shortened to 30 minutes and done in conjunction with the meal itself. There could be a self guided portion that allows guests to move at their own pace through the garden, and history of food in Hawai'i. Here is my recommendation: Create a self guided tour with signs that talk about the first indiginous plants and have a stop with those plants (botanical markers) and a sign. You could even have it on podcast and we could listen to the talk at each station. Next - offer clear prices and drinks upon arrival - and a map of the property. Finally - at dinner - have one of your team talk about each course as it is served and point out the ingredients and flavors. ALSO recommend Insect Repellent! Some was passed out - but by the time it got to us it was nearly empty. We would have brought our own had we known.

Yelp
Nice one hour walk through the farm explaining the plants we were seeing, how they got to the island, what they were used for and how best to grow them. Afterwards we were served a lovely meal from food harvested there.

Megan G.

Yelp
Amazing food! Excellent staff! Loved the store. Ali gave a great tour. Property was beautiful and learned a lot. Only downside was the need for bug spray. We walked to the stone dam and got eaten alive by the mosquitoes; not exaggerating. Wear bug spray if you want to survive. Had the most amazing mai tai ever.

R L.

Yelp
I think the website is a bit misleading in terms of what the farm tour offers. We signed up for the farm tour and dinner. The tour was a tiny piece of the land with maybe a few plants here and there which the guide talked about for longer than necessary. It wasn't really a tour but a walk through of a small area. The grounds are beautiful and dinner was interesting and tasty so Kudos to the chef. I don't think it's worth the steep price of $145/person and on top drinks are extra. I love the idea of regenerative farming but there is definitely room for improvement for this business to justify the steep price.

Mark S.

Yelp
It was amazing on many levels: Food for thought, food for the soul, food for an evening meal, and perhaps food for the garden you may grow or improve upon when you get back home. If you are a visitor to Kauai, Go! You spent the money to get to there, now spend some for this unique, lasting experience.

Yelp
Wonderful evening learning about regenerative farming, and trees and plants., The people at Common Ground are passionate about a sustainable Hawaii. They are converting land used for sugar farming, and then guava to a food forest, restoring the soil and ecosystem. Sophia provided a very informative tour and then we were treated to dinner made from food sourced from only Hawaii. We enjoyed learning about a broad range of food and medicinal plants and trees. this project is worthy of all our support.

Yelp
I couldn't recommend the lei making class more! As someone, who has lived on Kauai for 7+ years this was such an insightful, immersive experience into the local culture and practices. It was such a great way to meet other local folks as well as visitors. The table is preset with a beautiful array of flowers before everyone arrives. The fragrances, as you could imagine, were incredible! Nalani and Ivory made me feel so comfortable as I figured out the intricacies of making lei po'o. This is an experience that I will not soon forget. I would highly recommend this to visitors and locals equally. 10/10 !

Yelp
Really enjoyed our farm experience and dinner here. They are the most authentic farm-to-table experience, literally growing everything you eat at the dinner on their farm. It was a great experience getting to see the farm and then sitting down to a beautiful meal. We did the farm tour and dinner and got to the farm early to walk out to the Stone Dam. It was a short 15 min-ish walk on even and mainly flat terrain. Stroller friendly. We did the experience w our 2yr old and 5yr old, not that it's geared towards kids, but they were entertained or entertained themselves over the course of the 3.5hrs we were there. There is a short downhill portion to the stone dam. The dam was in a beautiful lush little area with many blossoming plants. Worth the walk. We returned to the farm at 4 to start the tour. We were greeted with a nice display of various fruit, which were all interesting and delicious. Got to try the tangerines, tree tomatoes, Meyer lemons, star fruit, watermelon, apple bananas, and limes that they grew right there. They also had a refreshing tea made of an interesting plant and a perfume-y flower infused water. The guide taught us about agroforestry concepts and showed how Common Ground was practicing what they preach. We got to feed a very friendly cow some of her favorite leaves, which the kids loved, and saw all the different plants growing on the land. It was fascinating learning about the history of the plants and how they keep the land productive all year long. The dinner was served buffet style and you bus your own table. The dishes were gorgeous. They also took our severe nut allergy into consideration when preparing the menu, which was greatly appreciated. Can't remember all the beautiful ingredients that went into the dishes but some standouts were: breadfruit, purple yam (ube?), chiku, papaya, guava, and green papaya. There was a delicious stew made from the beef of a local farm as well. I also really enjoyed the green papaya salad. Overall, a fantastic experience- highly recommend!

Yelp
Our Common Ground farm tour with dinner was one of the highlights of a great trip to Kauai. Our group of 4 went on Thursday January 23rd. I am kicking myself for not getting the name of our guide because he was exceptional - passionate, friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the concept of a "food forest" then enjoyed many of the herbs, vegetables and fruit in our meal. The drive from Poipu was a bit of a chore but well worth the effort. This experience is expensive- but that is true of many dinners or Luau's on Kauai. This is not for everyone- the food is served family style. If they run out of something- let them know they will bring more out. I would not recommend for younger kids - - while everything is casual and there is room to run around- the food and conversation will be interesting for 13+

Yelp
Not worth the money (& they ran out of food). We really wanted to like this more. The tour started late and was informative, but you only see 2 rows of plants. Our kids would have liked to maybe see animals (they talked about cows and chickens but neither were out). The food was served buffet style and quality was nice, but we were toward the end of the line, and they had run out of the main dish by the time we got there. When we asked them about it, they said that they didn't have anymore (despite saying they had plenty in the beginning). So without much protein, we ended up having to stop for another dinner on the way home. It really rubbed us the wrong way that we spent over $400 for 3 people and they didn't really seem to care that they had a handful of guests not get the main dish. Only water and tea are included. Alcoholic drinks will add another $17-18 a drink. Dessert is just a fruit plate. They don't use sugarcane because they don't grow it here anymore, and I was excited about a creative dessert that didn't have added sugar. After not getting the main dish, a fruit plate was very underwhelming for all the money spent. We don't mind spending a premium for this concept if it's executed fairly well. This seemed like they were taking advantage of us though. The walk to the stone dam is nice but you don't need to be a guest to do this.

Yelp
Loved this garden tour and learning about interplanting and sustainable farming strategies. The dinner here was incredible (four courses and food all locally grown) and an amazing value!! Cannot say enough great things about this farm and food experience. Also highly recommend doing the hike to stone dam beforehand.

Yelp
A great way to learn about new types of sustainable agriculture and a delightful meal, created by people who are truly passionate about good food. Sav, the guide, did a great job pointing out all the things in the garden tour with good explanations of core concepts. It will be interesting to see how this space evolves.

Yelp
I was so incredibly excited to visit Common Ground given their mission and the opportunity for my children to learn about sustainable farming practices. The tour was thoughtfully done and you can hear the passion that the employees have for the ambitious project they are embarking on. However, at $500 for our family, we were excited to have a delicious meal based on what they and the surrounding farms have produced. The food was absolutely awful - there were four vegetarian dishes and one egg-based dish. I had prepared my children that they needed to have an open mind because they would be eating e.g. taro but even dishes with more common food were over and poorly seasoned to the point that they were not edible. We stayed as long as possible to be polite as this represents the passion and hard work of Common Ground but my strong recommendation to the group is that they just make a green bean dish with garlic and salt. It strangely let's the fresh flavors of the beans themselves come through and be enhanced, rather than cooking beans to shriveled oblivion and then seasoning them until they are unrecognizable. I highly recommend going to Lydgate Farms instead - they allow the tour group to participate in the Farm tour by trying the different fruits, just the raw fruits that we perhaps would not have tried or appreciated on our own.

Yelp
Ww had a wonderful time on the farm tour last night. We learned a lot about regenerative agriculture. After the farm tour we had a delicious organic farm to table dinner served buffet style. Grass fed local meat was available as well as plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. My husband said, "My dinner tonight is better than last nights luau dinner. "

Yelp
Our experience here was better than expected. The tour guide was so enthusiastic about the information that she was sharing and I was surprised to learn that she was a new employee. We learned so much about what needs to take place for regenerative farming and the meal that was prepared for us afterwards was very good. After dinner we walked to the stone dam. The walk and setting was simply beautiful and should not be missed. It was a very pleasant way to spend an evening.

Yelp
Honestly, it was bad. The tour was good and we learned a lot about the plants and how they grow on the island. When it came to actual fruit tasting, they gave us absolutely nothing during the tour. The meal at the end was awful. Nothing was seasoned well, and everything was bitter. There were only three types of fruit giben at the end, which were good, but they were very skimpy on the amounts. The director gave a short political rant that excluded reason. Overall, I do not recommend this tour. Save your money for literally anything else.

Yelp
A wonderful experience! So interesting to see how they are becoming stewards of the la d and helping to regenerate fallow ground. Plus the food was one of the best meals I've had on the island!! Not to be missed!

Yelp
Expensive for what the experience is. Half of the meal was breadfruit based and lacking in flavor. The rambutan, pineapple, and bananas were good. The tour was very lame and the shortribs were tough (but flavorful). The tour may have been better if the regular tour guide was around but apparently he was on vacation. The whole thing seemed kind of disorganized and was maybe 1.5 hours between the tour and dinner. We paid $115 pp and wish we had spent that money on a chocolate tour instead.

Yelp
I wanted to write and express my deepest appreciation and send a big mahalo to Team at Common Ground. I had the most amazing experience this last Thursday Sept 1st which also happened to be my Birthday. It was an amazing coincidence that DJ started playing Stevie Wonder " Happy Birthday " at the exact moment that my cake was coming out! I was certain that it was planned but turns out that is was a gift from the Universe. I will never forget that! ( Dj came to me later told me that she did not know its my birthday but just choice that song at the moment which turn out perfect timing :) The delicious farm to table dining and gracious service was very well received and only complimented by the great vibrations and comfortable relaxed environment that is Common Ground. My guests all had a very memorable and enjoyable time and we plan to return at every possible opportunity to support this wonderful venue. We anxiously look forward to watching and participating in the growth and development of Common Ground and greatly appreciate the efforts to bring this wonderful place to share with People and Visitors to Kauai.

Yelp
Even though we have been Kauai residents for 31 years, we were totally enthralled by the farm tour. Jon was so informative in a very captivating way. Even though we have studied permaculture and ran an organic farm, we still learned so much and came home and ordered a bunch of the plants that he recommended. The ticket said we would be served appetizers, but they gave us an all you can eat dinner buffet of roasted free range chicken raised on sight, lots of fruits and breadfruit prepared like home fries. We especially appreciated that it was all outdoors, including the meal, so we felt Covid safe. And having the bar open before the tour gave it a festive feel.

Yelp
I live on island. Decided to do all the "touristy things" for my 49th birthday. We did the farm tour and dinner. Absolutely LOVED their regenerative farming model. Learned so much and am inspired to eat locally. Taught how to be in a good relationship with nature, and be able to grow food that doesn't need pesticides or is environmentally taxing. The food was absolutely incredible. The chef picks from the garden and makes delicious, healthy, colorful, high caliber meals. The bar tender was so fun and sweet. All the staff go out of their way to make the guest experience exceptional. Highly recommend. So glad I spent my birthday there. My family and friends loved it so much, we are going to volunteer there. A must do while visiting Kauai

Yelp
I agree with the previous poster. Expensive for what the experience was. However I like the idea of supporting regenerative farms. At home we do this by purchasing from them as much as possible. So in a way it's okay that' the tour/dinner is so much per person. If I were to suggest something that would mean a lot to the guests but very little to the hosts (considering how much it is per person and how many people they take on a tour at a time), I would suggest they include dessert in the dinner. I don't know if my husband misread the post but he thought for some reason we were going to have some kind of chocolate dessert and he was very excited about it. It turned out the dessert was literally one "sample" (this is the word that woman used when handing it to us) of chocolate. The piece of chocolate was about the size of a marble. When you are planning to do all your dining in one place it's pretty common to think dessert is coming. And while small is fine.. the size of a marble just feels silly and def doesn't sate even the smallest of sweet tooth's. It is hard to imagine why they would choose not to offer a sweet buffet style much is how they serve dinner (you serve yourself). As far as the dinner: was all veg and fruit with beef stew. Taste was okay to good. They are working only with ingredients on the property which is pretty cool! As far as the tour: was informational certainly. Not much to see as is small but you can def learn about regenerative farming and ecosystems. The tour was is probably exactly what it should be/what you might expect, just maybe smaller than one would imagine.

Yelp
What a refreshing experience! The staff who hosted us were incredibly kind and so excited to share what they're doing on the farm. Having the opportunity to first learn about what is being grown, the processes, and then being served a delicious meal is an experience I'll never forget. I also happened to visit Limahuli Garden earlier today which demonstrates agricultural practices from thousands of years ago. To see that Common Ground has created its own version of that example of sustainable agriculture was truly inspiring. This is a must-do on your trip to Kauai!

Yelp
Well there's a lot of pressure for a first Yelp review so I'll go into more detail than normal. I'll start with $45pp for brunch or $60pp with bottomless campaign / mimosas. The theme here is "farm to table" so all the food is super fresh and local. Mostly (if not all) grown on the grounds and now they only do Sunday brunch to maintain quality over quantity. They had a amazing live musician that really sets the mood for this venue. I would have bought a CD if he had one. And lastly about the venue, it was a very peaceful open setting that's perfect for the north shore. Now for the food - they had an a la cart blackened Ahi Benedict (included in the buffet price) that was one of the best Benedict's I've ever had! I had two aside from the buffet. They mixed it up with some different local options, one of which was a fruit I've never seen of heard of. Lots of options, including fresh breads, mini scones, salad bar, poke and jumbo shrimp (head included) biscuits and gravy and about 6 awesome deserts. Awesome fresh OJ too. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the home made sausages, triple thick cut bacon and potatoes weren't hot and it was a little pricey. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be like that or the tray heaters went out. Got a few pix for ya. Enjoy.
