Top Chef Colorado Episode 8 Recap

"Built around an 'unexpected' theme, I found Common Place suffered from an unclear identity and inconsistent execution: Joe's oysters with pea foam were surprisingly flavorless, his ricotta dumplings were oppressively rich, and Chris's beet doughnuts had 'zero beet flavor.' Fatima's tartare was hurt by burnt garlic chips, Claudette's bone marrow effectively vanished, and her ice cream was overspun and grainy; her skyr-miso-chickpea-white-chocolate-cherry-pickle extravaganza — served a little warmer than room temperature — baffled a Bromberg, and the decorative ferns drew criticism. Judges concluded the restaurant lacked a coherent concept, so despite some flashes of creativity it ultimately fell short." - Rachel Sugar

My first time to Commonplace with my better half this Friday, and we just loved our time here. Situated in an old bank building, there's plenty of room to enjoy your coffee, study, or have a lunch date. Not only do they have delicious coffee and a great cappuccino, but they also offer a great selection of teas, hot chocolate, chai lattes and food offerings such as: bagels, sandwiches, muffins, danishes, cinnamon rolls. I loved how they transformed the old bank vault into the perfect little study/work nook. Thank you to Emma for the wonderful, friendly service. I now have a reason to return to South Knox for the perfect brew. And also want to try their winter berry bread that I saw in the case next time.

I am new to the area. So I was trying many coffee shops near me. Although service was nice, muffin was ok, coffee good but nothing too special, the furniture in this place was so disgusting. Every couch and cushy chair had stains all over. No one even seems to try and clean. It was so gross even where I will not return. A coffee shop for me is a place to relax or concentrate so hood coffee and atmosphere is important to me. So I had to get up and leave.

GO TO coffeeplace in knoxville. Its so unique and comforting that it creates the perfect ambiance to get some coffee and study or play a board game or just even hangout. On top of that their coffee is excellent, they make all their syrups homemade. I have not tried their food but it looked good. Overall is just a cool location that you have to check out. 4.5/5

This is one of those places that is unique because it has a very pleasant and calming environment. The food and drinks are great and fresh. The workers are very kind and patient. Plus, I love the very creative decorations and spots. I love the vault!. It had two private rooms that are fantastic if you need to be away and quiet to concentrate. They also have tables, regular chairs and couches and chairs that are more home like. All in all, I highly recommend this place. Every time I'm in the area I try to go there..

On a road trip through Tennessee and stopped here for breakfast. The shop is so cozy and quiet. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and quick. I had a hand and egg croissant with a cinnamon roll and black coffee. It was all fantastic. This place is the perfect coffee shop.

CommonPlace is my favorite coffee shop in Knox!! They have delicious lattes with creative seasonal flavors that they make in-house. I love how they are very community-oriented, hosting cool events like yoga and little small-business pop-up shops, making it more than just a coffee shop. They also have a wall where you can “take a mug, leave a mug” where I have found some of my favorite mugs:). Each staff member is also very friendly and helpful every time I go in! Annie is especially always so kind and personable. I love that the staff will bring your food and drinks out to you so that it will be served fresh. The owner, Eli, is also always making sure his guests have a great experience and feel welcomed. He did a wonderful job creatively turning an old bank into a comfy spot with cool features, like a room called “The Vault” and even a drive-thru. Highly recommend stopping by!!

Love this spot. They have a community board, lots of seats and work space, great food/coffee, and friendly service. They always bring your food and drinks to you which I think is nice. That way you can order and just get comfy and start on your work.

Such a gem of a coffee shop! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for catching up with a friend, getting some work done, or just relaxing with a great cup of coffee. The drinks are always crafted with care, and the pastries are fresh and delicious every time. What really sets this place apart is the vibe. It feels like a true neighborhood spot where you're genuinely welcomed. The staff is kind, thoughtful, and attentive without being overbearing. If you're looking for a place with good energy, excellent coffee, and a peaceful setting, this is it. So glad to have this little haven on Chapman.
