"Built around an 'unexpected' theme, I found Common Place suffered from an unclear identity and inconsistent execution: Joe's oysters with pea foam were surprisingly flavorless, his ricotta dumplings were oppressively rich, and Chris's beet doughnuts had 'zero beet flavor.' Fatima's tartare was hurt by burnt garlic chips, Claudette's bone marrow effectively vanished, and her ice cream was overspun and grainy; her skyr-miso-chickpea-white-chocolate-cherry-pickle extravaganza — served a little warmer than room temperature — baffled a Bromberg, and the decorative ferns drew criticism. Judges concluded the restaurant lacked a coherent concept, so despite some flashes of creativity it ultimately fell short." - Rachel Sugar
