"Iconic West Village hangout Cornelia Street Cafe may have closed in January, but now owner Robin Hirsch and various performers have banded together for a pop-up in Brooklyn. Called Cornelia Street in Exile, the pop-up will feature three nights of performances including poetry readings and music from David Amram and Co. and Arturo O’Farrill. It takes place April 5 through April 7 at Brooklyn Commons at 388 Atlantic Ave." - Stefanie Tuder

I've only used this place for meetings but it's great for just that. When I do decide to attend its open Mic night I will let you know

It is almost impossible to elucidate all of the reasons why I absolutely LOVE this cafe. The food is delicious - the House Salad is scrumptious, the Hibiscus iced tea served in a lovely glass is delicious, and the pastries are excellent, especially the macaroons, which are beyond delicious, and the Ginger Cookie with the lemon icing. But it is also the diversity of patrons I love, the feeling of being part of a community, the fact that one can be surrounded by patrons but can still focus on a book or do work on a computer, the diversity of events held in the back room, which adds to the diversity of the patrons, and the fact that the walls have been painted with lovely colors, and they now serve wine and beer. It is a lot of fun to spend time in this cafe, and observe all that is going on! Also, it appears to be an excellent place to hold events, such as musical gatherings, film showings, improv gatherings and plays. I have no idea how one schedules an event here, but I think one could easily call and find out. I really love this cafe. And the staff is sweet and works hard!

We came here for lunch on a weekday and the place was busy so our order took a while to be completed. The food was tasty (black bean soup, whitefish sandwich and avocado toast) and the staff was very friendly. Lots of people have meetings or work on laptops in the large back room, but there is also seating in the front room and at the bar.

One of my good friends recommended Commons Café… It is truly a great place to meet up with family and friends. From day one Marisa, Diana and Shakespeare were Amazingly Exceptional. They carry themselves extremely professional, they are genuine with the service they provide, and I love that they are down to earth and compassionate when interacting with the customers. My experience has far surpassed any expectations… I have enjoyed countless more visits and have become a regular. I continue to thank my friend Sandra for her recommendation… This is definitely my go-to place when meeting others in my network and socially. I look forward to meeting Melissa the owner to express my sentiments about her great place and Awesome staff.

A cool, cozy shop with a somewhat hidden back performance venue area. I went to a thesis reading here recently for graduating MFA students from Pratt. It was so cool. I love these spaces that allow creative people to come together and share good vibes. I was also happy that they had Prosecco at the bar!
