Google
Amazing selection of drinks. Beer, wine, bourbon. Staff supper friendly. Customers/local very friendly. You're missing out if you do not stop by. Love this place.

Jessica M.

Google
staff is so mean. They treat you like it’s annoying to have paying customers like we aren’t the ones paying their bills. ask for IDs like it’s a problem you’re there asking for a drink & stare at you while you leave them a tip. they announced to the whole bar that they were surprised we were actually of age to be there to drink. I’ve never met anyone who has had a good experience there & they also have trash drinks. They definitely only get service because they are opened later than other bars in the area

Trinity F.

Google
Bartender EXTREMELY rude upon entering. we’re the younger crowd (obviously legal age). She **yelled** “I need IDs” which was expected but genuinely seemed upset to see us come in. Then, when checking ids she made a realllll snarky comment super loud about one of our friends being semi-freshly 21. Only one of us ended up getting a drink because the whole interaction was uncomfortable and we didn’t want to give them our business. Will not be back. 😊

Elisio S.

Google
Great local place for beer and wine. If I need to categorize it it’s a wine bar. They are extremely friendly and accommodating. These guys allow for food to be delivered which is awesome during trivia nights. It’s a fun place to spend some time with family and neighbors.

Kelly P.

Google
Great bartender!! Easy to talk to and was on top if things. AWESOME selections!!

Blake M.

Google
Outside seating with access to the bartenders inside is awesome. They had chilled water available which was nice because it was scorching hot outside. The specials they had were well worth it! Can’t wait to go back.

Aaron H.

Google
Great local spot. Beer was really good!

S M.

Google
Stopped in for an after dinner drink with friends. The place was packed and we were just about to leave but luckily there was a group walking out so we were able to snag their table. Great neighborhood spot of a glass of wine or cocktail with friends. Very lively atmosphere, bartenders were both attentive and friendly. A bit loud, so I wouldn't go if you're trying to have an intimate conversation!

Yelp
Frose. It's amazing. The service - amazing. The clientele - fun people watching. Outdoor and indoor seating, clean bathrooms, and a vibe you can take home via takeout liqour, wine and other drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
If I'm being honest I've only ever had the bourbon slushie or one of the other slushies (with a floater DUH) so I can't comment on the rest of the drink options, but it's always a good time. Lots of bourbon options, searing indoor and outside, and friendly bartenders. Bathrooms are clean, music isn't too loud, and they have a few TVs if you're trying to watch a game. I wish they stayed open later but I guess Norton commons isn't where you go to rage.

Yelp
What a fun bar to grab drinks at and catch up with friends. That is exactly what I was able to do. We grabbed wine (happy hour price until 6pm) and sat in their patio. Their house Rosè was quite tasty. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive. The only down fall is they only have a cheese plate if you get hungry. But no worries, there's plenty of restaurants around to grab food if the cheese plate isn't going to fill you up.

Aubri F.

Yelp
Staff is extremely rude. Had an attitude the entire interaction. Seemed displeased to have a young person who is of age to be in the bar. Will not come back.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Good place to have a drink. Sat outside on a beautiful day and drank wine. I got a Chardonnay ($9)and Prosecco ($8). The outside seating is under trees so it is cooler. There is also some seating inside but it is a small space. Lots of wine options and you can buy bottles. That also have frozen drinks($9)! To eat you can get bread and oil but not much more that I saw.

Yelp
We enjoyed sitting on the sidewalk patio after the art festival. Great drinks and food! Bartender was nice and service was quick. Will go back when we are in the area.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Great little bar. The atmosphere is pretty casual and calm. The drinks were top notch and the prices about average. It's a little small and will fill quickly. Great wine selection.

Yelp
Best bar in Louisville, staff is great Drinks are great, atmosphere is the best! It doesn't get much better than Commonwealth. They have a great selections of whines both to serve and take home, and very high end selection of Bourbons (Weller, Pappy, special edition Woodford... you name it they probably have it!) The staff is very attentive and they all make great drinks, if you need a recommendation they are always willing to help and service is very quick!

Stephen W.

Yelp
Outstanding establishment. Highly recommend. Excellent selection. Friendly neighborhood bar.

Yelp
My wife and I attended a Bardstown Borbon tasting event so it was our first time there. The Bardstown representative was helpful and informative. The staff was friendly and courteous. From what we saw, they have a large selection of Wines and Bourbons. We will be back to try them on a normal night.

Yelp
Updating review because I had forgotten I had ever even reviewed before, and now I have more glowing to do. You guys, I realize now work in Norton Commons, so I'm biased, since is the closest nearby watering hole when the day ends. BUT. There are so many wines, it's overwhelming at times. In the good way. The bourbon selection makes the wine list look minuscule. And the beer is not to be laughed at. The whole reason I'm updating, though, is the staff. They are so. Nice. So nice. Knowledgeable, without being pretentious or too knowledgeable that they confuse the patron. So friendly, be it your first, fifteenth or fifteen hundredth visit. Funny. They are the reason behind the neighborhood bar vibe, and it makes all the difference. Rave over!!
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint spot with outstanding bourbon selection. Relatively small with about 8 seats at the bar and 6 four top tables. They have about 10 craft on tap and a decent wine selection. Service was very good and the cocktails were very well made. Other than a cheese plate and some other random item no other options for food which for me translates into 1 less star.

Yelp
Commonwealth Tap is known as being a cozy spot in Norton Commons to have a glass of wine, beer, or whiskey. The bartenders are well-versed and the selection available suits almost any palette and price point. What I didn't realize, before our first visit last night, was that it can get a little loud and rowdy on a game night. We grabbed the last table in the narrow room and discussed the well-curated menu with a friendly and knowledgable server. TVs showing the UofL game were placed at the back and at the bar. Plenty of folks were enjoying their friends and drinks while commenting/cheering/booing UVA. Within minutes of ordering our lovely glasses of wine, and in the middle of our conversation, a verbal brawl broke out at the table next to us. We were expecting a fist fight to ensue as we sipped our drinks and checked for the closest exit. The amped up mood and colorful language continued well after one of the groups departed. Really?!? Middle aged yuppies throwing down here? Never expected this at a taproom/wine bar located in a planned, suburban community. Commonwealth is a lovely spot that, without this type of clientele, deserves four stars. But, booze + sports can equal inappropriate behavior. Even if this was a rare occurrence, the atmosphere created with games on TVs and loud fans wasn't the chill, wine bar I'd imagined. Think we'll wait until warm weather returns and basketball is over to come back and enjoy some wine on the front patio.

Pam P.

Yelp
We are locals and frequent. Sad to leave a review like this. Never felt less welcome or comfortable with such a hostile bartender. Kenny worked hard to build a business. The surely attitude and disposition of team is not tolerable in a small community. Remember who spend the $ & tip well. To question integrity of a long term customer will never work in this town. Insulted to say the least.

Yelp
Commonwealth Tap is a beer drinkers' bar, a bourbon drinkers' bar and a wine drinkers' bar. There is quite a selection of each at this Norton Commons watering hole that no matter your adult beverage of choice, you're bound to find something here that you like. But I admit: I know beer much more than I know bourbon or wine. And on the night I visited, I particularly enjoyed an Ommegang Abbey Ale but was also impressed that they had Bell's Oberon and Country Boy Shotgun Wedding. (They also offer Budweiser and Miller, so beer elitists, Commonwealth Tap is not.) But with 30 or more wines and 70+ bourbons available, I would hope that wine and bourbon enthusiasts would find something yummy to drink. And if you do not, you should perhaps go home to drink, with your snobbery to keep you company. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really. Commonwealth Tap is small, so seating could be a bit of a challenge on a busy night, but there are also sidewalk tables, which are positively delightful in the summertime, really taking advantage of the whole Norton Commons community feel. The live music on Thursday nights was nice, though a little loud at times. And you can also buy bottles of these heavenly libations to take home with you. If I lived in Norton Commons, I feel like I would be at this neighborhood spot a bit too much perhaps. And even though I don't live in the East End, I think I'll still make a trip to take in Commonwealth Tap on occasion.

Yelp
Doesn't get much better than this. There's something for everyone here. You can get a regular style beer, or a shot of Pappy, orrrr some ridiculously good wine. Personally, I go here for wine. There's always something interesting being poured. I'm huge into funky weird wines, so this works out for me every trip. It is gorgeous inside btw. Very clean and decorated nice from floor to ceiling. Nice lighting and all that jazz. Pricing is jut about right considering the product you get and being right in Norton Commons. I had a glass of Marsanne last night and chatted with Kenny a bit and tried a couple of samples of things we were geeking out on. Good times. If you're a wine nerd, go see him. Extreme knowledge. They are usually open pretty late too. Nice because everything else in Norton Commons usually shuts down early. Come get a little cheese plate and some Vino here for sure. You won't regret it. Cheers.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped in here on a whim when we were early to Norton Commons for an event. I was instantly charmed, and by the end of our brief visit wished that it was more convenient for me to visit! The bar is warm and inviting, as are the bartenders. It appeared as though there is table service, at least when it isn't too busy, but we ordered at the bar. I was a little surprised that there wasn't *more* beer on the menu and available. I was pleased with my ultimate decision. but a place with "Tap" in it's name screams BEER to me. And this seems to be more of a wine bar or a bourbon place. That said, I certainly think everyone could find something to drink and enjoy here! There is ample and comfortable seating. In fact, it feels like there is too much seating. Which is an opinion influenced by the size of the bar height stools. They appear to take up a lot of space, and although there were only 2 other couples in the place and seated at the bar, I had to push some of the stools out of the way to get in the the seat at our chosen table. They have a large front window that can be opened, with the possibility to order from and enjoy your beverage outside. My complaints are minor and were only obvious because of how good just about everything else was. I would certainly be glad to go back sometime!

Yelp
I have been here a few times while visiting friends that live in the neighborhood. I am always surprised by the service. The female bartenders seem uninterested in serving the customers. They could also be over heard talking about other patrons and not in a good way. The same ladies are rude and short when taking orders. Heard someone ask if they could change the channel and response was a growl and maybe in few minutes. Needless to say next time I visit I asked to meet up someone where I am not afraid to order my beer or have the game turned on.

Yelp
We stopped by to grab a drink after finishing dinner in a closed by restaurant. This place is pretty cozy, with a small indoor area and a tiny outdoor seating area. Good wine and bourbon selection by glass, or you can open a bottle of wine with $20 corkage fee. They offer Happy hour starting at 3pm, and offer 15%-50% off depends on the time. Will try to hit there for happy hour next time ^^

Yelp
I've been frequenting this establishment for several years. Norton Commons is an exquisite location and the decor is appealing. Unfortunately, the service leave so much to be desired. Last time I checked a bar's intention is to be a relaxing comfortable place to get away. While I do acknowledge the setting is lovely, it is difficult to relax when your server is rude, uninviting and unprofessional. I don't enjoy giving a poor review but this isn't an isolated incident! Sorry TAPP you won't be seeing me again.

Yelp
To one of the best old fashions I've had this year! Love the vibe of this cozy establishment. I will definitely be back for another! Yeaaaaa bourbon and great company.

Yelp
Very good drinks. Cool place to meet later in the evening. Would be nice if they had some food choices beyond a limited pre made menu of cheese trays, etc. Cool place to try out.

Yelp
Wife and I stepped in here on a Saturday afternoon before the final four basketball games. This is located in the Norton Commons which is a very unique place here in Louisville. It's like an old deserted neighborhood mixed in with a bunch of fancy establishments as but the best way I can describe it. I like $809,000 homes and bunch of fancy places in the middle of all of them. I like going there cuz it's kind of cool to see negative much a nice little bars and stuff in there. so anyway we went to this place today I got a Miller Lite the $3.50 draft my wife guy whiskey of the week for $8 or whiskey and Diet Coke cooler place my favorite part was they give you free peanuts all you can eat peanuts at that if you're drinking so that's always a bonus right there so I enjoy that and I'm sure if I'll be back or not because I don't live out that way but I am not stopping for a drink I recommend it four out of 5

Yelp
I live in Lexington and started coming to Commonwealth Tap around May 2017, this place is phenomenal. I've driven up here just to get the most perfect Aviation's and Boulevardier's and have never had a bad experience. The neighborhood is comfortable, everyone gets to know everyone! My favorite thing? They have wine. On tap. I've never seen that before and it's the best idea anyone's ever had! The staff make the atmosphere even better with their eccentric and witty personalities. I'll be coming back very soon.

Yelp
Fallon (you know nothing Jon Snow) and Reina are awesome bartenders. Went here for the first time with a locally bourbon group late on a weeknight and I am happy I stopped by. Awesome whisky/whiskey selection as they have older, rare bottles, but also have great barrel picks from more common distilleries. It's a small intimate space, and I love the local vibe. It really reminded me of my time in Scotland at the Mashtun.
google avatar

Yelp
Interesting little joint in Norton Commons. Popped in here with Mrs. Bradley last week on a lark...glad we did. Mid-afternoon visit right after their 1pm opening time and during a UofL basketball game. Small space with a WIDE variety of drinking choices, particularly wine, beer, and bourbon. Super casual and very 'neighborhood' feel (kind of like everything in Norton Commons, even though its all manufactured to evoke that response). Enjoyed a couple pints of beer and took off. I would go there again. Doesn't seem like food is their bag, although they do offer some (very) limited finger food choices, and some items only on certain days. This is a drinker's bar... Vibe was extremely chill. I'm sure its different if/when it gets slammed with people. Check it out!

Yelp
We attended a champagne tasting yesterday at Commonwealth Tap that was absolutely delightful. A 3pm distraction on a Wednesday afternoon that was most welcome. We were greeted by the owner, Kenny, allowing us to enjoy a one on one conversations educating us on the variety of grapes and varietals that we sampled. We also sampled a cheese tray that was a perfect pairing to our wine. And, let me correct myself, since my previous review, the Keebler crackers were a perfect addition to the cheese we sampled :) The truffle cheese and fig combination was scrumptious. And, I could go one but I suggest you head over there and try it for yourself! Kenny, thank for taking the time to talk with us. And, know that I am nothing short of pleased to update my review :) Your staff is friendly, entertaining and I look forward to my next visit!
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
Excellent bar with diverse and delicious beer choices! Bring your own food in! Bar seating is luxury style, very comfortable cushy bar stools! I am so tired of the hard wood and metal hipster bar stools! This place is not that big, and a little loud, but the diverse beer choices makes this worthy of spending some time here!!
google avatar

Jacques B.

Yelp
Love this place! Quaint and simple. A bit pricey. It is nice to have options and the people are worth it! Neighborly and fun

Kit S.

Yelp
I walked in 25 minutes before closing to get one drink. There were at least 10 people at the bar and the bartender told me that they were closed. Maybe because I've got a lot of tattoos and you're in a bougie part of town but fuck off I will never ever ever visit your establishment again. I will stay in Colorado where I belong

Kent M.

Yelp
Staying at Chateau Bourbon, walked down to this place for a drink, great place and atmosphere. Fallon helped us with our drinks and had great information about the area as well. Highly recommend stopping in here if in the area!
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
My favorite spot in the neighborhood. Great bourbon and wine selection, cozy atmosphere, and the best bartenders in the city. Kenny, the manager/owner is a certified sommelier and never steers you wrong with a wine selection. He takes so much pride in his business and always goes out of his way to get to know the people who come into the bar as well as make sure they have the best possible experience. I can't say enough good about this place.
google avatar

Lawrence J.

Yelp
Great edition to a super friendly neighborhood. Great bar with big screen TV and music. Right by the center of Norton Commons so you can stop and socialize either before or after dinner.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
This is our go to place. Their hummingbird cocktail is a dream! They sell blue dog bakery baguettes Thursday-Saturday. They often have beer/wine tastings and food trucks! I went to a Girl Scout cookie and wine pairing a couple of week ago, what a blast!!!! Stephanie is extremely knowledgable about bourbon and Kenny is the one to chat with about wines. They have trivia every Sunday at 6 pm. Sometimes we don't place last! The bar is very welcoming to bringing food in or having it delivered. However, they always have free snacks available on the bar too! Check out their happy hour specials! Great deals!
google avatar

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
Great wine bar! They also have a full bar and a good selection of craft beers. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid back.

Maria M.

Yelp
I adore this place! It is located right here in the heart of my neighborhood and they always have the best selection! Kenny and his staff are the best around! You will never go wrong spending an evening or even a afternoon at Tap!
google avatar

Pat R.

Yelp
I'm impressed with the variety of wines by the glass available at Commonwealth Tap, and also with the staff's knowledge of those wines. Just a brief description of a wine you liked in the past or a flavor profile you're looking for, and they're ready with a perfect recommendation. They also have a decent bourbon selection and if you're looking for assistance, they'll help. If beer is more your style, they've got a very good rotating selection. Food items are pretty much limited to a cheese and charcuterie plate, but really this place is about great wine, bourbon, and beer. Retail bottles of wine available if you want to take something home.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Close to home and always a great place to go and relax. Great selection of beer/wine/bourbon! We love that we can bring in food from other local Norton Commons establishments. Looking for me on a low key Friday night look here.
google avatar

Stefanie N.

Yelp
This is the best place for wine and bourbon in Louisville. I frequent Tap pretty regularly. I cannot get enough of the wine on Tap. It always comes out at the right temperature and tastes fresh. My boyfriend loves the selection of bourbons and at this point has at least sampled half of them. Lots of hard to find selections and a reasonable price for what is offered. They have Trivia on Sunday nights and that is always fun. Overall a great neighborhood bar with a high quality offering. See you on Hip Hop Friday!
google avatar

D Tyler J.

Yelp
Great staff. Bourbon selection is huge. Nice rotating beer program. Kenny always makes my family feel welcome. Seriously a great, independent, neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Commonwealth tap is a great little neighborhood bar! They have an amazing selection of bourbons and plenty of wine and beer. Their cocktails are innovative and expertly crafted. Probably the most notable thing about the bar is the knowledge of the staff. They are passionate about what they serve and can guide anyone on anything. It's a really fun place to hang out with friends. However, the most fun I've had its sitting at the bar and doing a wine or bourbon tasting.
google avatar

JS L.

Yelp
The place has to have over 100++ different KY bourbons....it's quite impressive. It's a unique place that could become your regular watering hole....but don't come too often because it will make it harder for me to find a seat.
google avatar

Jeremy V.

Yelp
Nice place. Nice atmosphere. Great selection of wine and bourbon. The beers on tap are lacking, hence the four stars and not five. Unfortunately, I am mostly a beer drinker and wanted to try this place because I saw they had Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose at one point and thought they would have more randomness like this. If you want a good selection of beer on tap, I cannot recommend, but if you are going for bourbon or wine, this is the place to be. Friendly staff. A bit pricey.
google avatar

Mick M.

Yelp
IF you enjoy great wine , meeting new and creative people of all ages, you will love this place. Make sure you consult with Brian on your beverage choices , he will make your experience great
google avatar

Edward K.

Yelp
Great place to go for whiskey or bourbon. Staff will help you out and find the right one to try.
google avatar

Haley G.

Yelp
Commonwealth tap has the best atmosphere! They have the wine for me and bourbon for my husband it's great! Everyone is always super friendly and they have snacks at the bar for you! The best place to go for after dinner drinks!
google avatar

Kristen E.

Yelp
Laid back, great wine list! Not much seating, but a very intimate atmosphere. No real food. But if you want to chill and drink wine, it's perfect.

Linda R.

Yelp
I love this little bar. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is awesome. It's s great place to meet up with your friends.

Richie L.

Yelp
My favorite bar in Louisville. Kenny runs a 1st class operation. Wine and bourbon selection is top notch.
