Adorable coffee shop with such a great selection of gifts, cards, plants, fresh flower bouquets, wine, and home items. Very spacious and lots of outdoor seating! I got a coconut cream cold brew and my husband got an iced oat milk latte- both very good. Quick service and the ability to order through the app.

Google
😕Not worth the hype or the price. I came here with my mom because I thought this cafe would be a safe, trusted choice stylish and well-known. But the coffee was a huge disappointment. My latte was overheated to the point it burned my tongue, there was way too much milk, almost no coffee flavor, and not even a hint of latte art. When a latte costs $6.50 (more than at most other cafes) I expect it to be made properly and to actually enjoy it. Instead, I left wondering why I didn’t just go to Revolution across the street , where the coffee tastes better, the service is friendlier, and the drinks actually look like they’re worth the price. Sadly, I won’t be coming back here, and I regret bringing my mom after telling her how great this place was supposed to be.

This place was a whole mood! Bright, airy, full of greenery and cool retail—super unique. I fell in love with the sea salt and honey latte I had here, as well as the salted maple breakfast sandwich they offer. It's a must-visit if you're in Oceanside and need a coffee shop. Absolutely beautiful spot.

Google
The coffee here is so delicious! I ordered an iced Mocha and my wife got an iced banana caramel latte. The banana caramel latte was fenomenal! I would definitely order that drink again. The Mocha wasn't sweet enough for me, so I added some brown sugar and that did the trick. The place inside is so cute aesthetically. It was very busy on Memorial Day, with everyone working on laptops or having meetups. The entire place is wheelchair accessible, including the seating and restrooms. We will definitely be back.

Google
Super sweet and laid back people working here! And they are so accommodating to little ones. The shop is adorable and I wanted to buy everything. I got the açaí bowl and a cold brew, my friend got avocado toast. we sat outside, food came really quick for a Saturday in July at lunchtime :)

Women owned local business :) so sweet to my toddler, amazing drinks and granola bowls. I highly recommend checking them out if you need a place to kick back or get some work done.

Google
Some of the loveliest coffee shops I've visited! There's a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, and it is a great place to work or meet up with people. The space itself is light and bright. Their menu offers a great selection of drinks and food. The market area has so many cute and aesthetic trinkets and home goods.

Freakin cute 🥰 this place is gorgeous, peaceful, cozy and fun. Love the bright colors of this coffee shop and how welcoming the atmosphere is. Definitely a gem 💎

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and ordered breakfast sandwiches. They have vegan sausage as a substitute, which is awesome! My hubby and I both got the Salted Maple Breakfast Sandwich. It comes with egg and cheese on an English muffin. I went with the vegan sausage, and he got the regular pork sausage. For drinks, I had an Iced Ube Matcha Oat Latte, and my husband got a regular black coffee. Service was great, and we had such a relaxing morning on the patio at Communal Coffee with our dog. I'll definitely be back! Surprisingly, parking was super easy to find, even on a weekend, even with street parking.

Yelp
Only putting 4 stars cause I need to go back and try their coffee. Only stepped in to get some food and use their bathroom. As someone with a gluten allergy I liked their generous GF menu. I tried their salmon lox bagel and it was so good. The bagel still tasted like a bagel too. Cream cheese wasn't too salty and the textures went well. Smooth salmon, creamy cheese, and crunchy cucumbers. The staff are also very sweet and the layout is clean and chic.

Yelp
I've been here twice. Once a year ago and this past Thursday. The first time I was there, I ordered a Lavender Honey Latte with avocado toast and my husband had a Batch Brew House coffee w/breakfast sandwich. We sat at the counter. The order came in good time. The drinks and food were good. We did find the food pricey for the size. There were people catching up or working. Seems like a good cafe to work remotely. This last time, I had a meeting. I had a lavender honey latte (lightly sweetened) with a plant based frittata sandwich. All was tasty. The sandwich is rather small for the price. Overall, my experience here was good. Nice place to work remotely or have a catch-up/meeting with someone. There's street parking and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Omg! Soooo aesthetic, full of cute little things to buy its all earth tones and cutesy and demure. They have wines and espresso martinis and coffee. Plenty of seating inside, outside and through the back too. The service was amazing! The staff is super friendly! I will definitely be back! I want to try their espresso martinis!!!

Yelp
I happen to be at the Tremont Collective for the Makers Arcade North County Holiday Pop-Up and decided to have brunch before I got into my shopping mode. I was in the mood for some cozy coffee and fresh fruit. The Communal Coffee was the perfect trendy place to address my sunrising needs. Anyplace that fosters community is where I want to be. I loved the bright welcoming and comforting atmosphere with a touch of flower arrangements and plants all around. About the menu, it's extensive filled with great options. I ordered the Lavender Honey Latte and Granola Bowl. Despite the busyness, I didn't have to wait too long. The staff was on it! Needless to say, I had a lovely experience and will return back to this community.

Yelp
Cute coffee spot. I enjoy coming here to sit outside and get some work done or read a book. It gets busy so I haven't had a chance to sit inside but the weather is always nice to enjoy the views outside.

Yelp
There was an event nearby and decided to check this place out.I liked the openness of the place, plus had an outside patio area which was cute. The staff was friendly, but maybe a little too attentive as my plate was taken from me while I was still holding my sandwich. Overall, cute spot.

Yelp
Was in town visiting friends and they suggested this place as one of their favorites and it was easy to see why. They have a pretty nice storefront set up with all kinds of goods to browse while you're in line. They had mugs, and kitchenware, but they also had jewelry, books, and clothing. They had something for kids, adults, pets. There was so much to see. I didn't get a chance to browse the entire store but it definitely made me want to come back to peruse through it all. Seems like it would maybe be a good spot to grab a coffee and grab a last minute gift if you were visiting someone and didn't want to show up empty handed. There were people there with their dogs and kids so it was pretty family friendly. Parking wasn't too difficult, we found a spot right out front, but I'm not sure if that's the norm here. Service was friendly. I opted for seasonal latte and it was good. It wasn't too strong, but it was enjoyable. We got 4 drinks total and they didn't take long to prepare at all. They have a lot of tables and seating indoors, but since it was a nice day, we opted to sit in the back patio. There was definitely more seating in the back so if you're with a group, the back would be the place to sit. Definitely worth visiting if you're in town.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my mocktail and the harvest bowl that I had. The only complaint is the portion sizes. I typically don't finish my meal and this time I left hungry. The harvest bowl had the best aioli I've ever had! I need a side of dat lol. You can tell their dishes are nicely crafted and someone takes pride in it. It was a super cute place to chill. It's very lounge like and the mocktail I had was this hibiscus ginger beer drink that was so good but also very small for a mocktail. It might just be me but mocktails should be larger because the lack of alcohol. They had this salmon bagel that my friends had, they said it was delicious, and said that the granola with yogurt was good too! Recommended for sure!

Yelp
We visit San Diego every year and Communal is one of my favorite coffee shops by the beach by far. Not only are their lattes so flavorful and smooth but it's also super pretty inside! They have a florist shop and so many cute items/ceramic mugs for purchase. I purchased a cute hat/mushroom styled ceramic mug. I will definitely be going back. :) 10 minute walk from the beach as well! :) Friendly baristas

Yelp
After arriving at Oceanside,  my family and I stopped at Communal coffee for breakfast and refreshing drinks We were lucky because we parked just in front of the coffee shop. The place has windows all around which  gives it an open and welcoming atmosphere. The service was fast. We ordered; -Batch brew for my husband - two Ube Matcha Latte for me and my daughter. The drink had the perfect balance between matcha and ube with the right sweetness. They were perfect! - Classic bagel, was crispy from outside and chewy. - Caprese toast, It was scrumptious. -Smoked salmon bagel sandwich, it had such an amazing savory and rich flavor. We enjoyed our time there. We are planning to stop by again on our way home

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop! I had the lavender latte, it was a little weak I didn't taste the lavender much but nonetheless I enjoyed my time there while getting some work done. There are plenty of tables available.. I'll have to try the food next time I'm there.

Yelp
Service was decent, the two baristas were patient while we figured out what all to order. Definitely laid back vibes. We wanted to try a little bit of everything because it all looked so good and it was! Acai was delicious especially with the pumpkin seeds, the avocado bagel had a good mix of textures, the burrito was bomb, the salmon was smokey, and the oats were sweet. The drinks were well made and creamy. ABSOLUTELY love the esthetic and vibes of this place, very coffee shop, very demure. Love it here!

Yelp
Conflicted. Let's be honest: the best thing about Communal is the vibe of it. It's cute, and it's got a really open, bright environment. Great for coffee dates. It's pretty expensive though. A basic, small portioned avocado toast is $13 and a lavender latte is $6.50 (which I'm honestly more fine with), so you're looking at about $20 on an average spend here. And if that was it, I'd probably have it at a four star normally. It's a cute, every-once-in-a-while coffee shop. But I came in when it opened this morning at 7:00am, and after I sat down at one of the booths and looked down I noticed there was some old avocado and napkins welded to the base of one of the tables which means it was like that when they opened. Kinda gross. After feeling like I overspent on the avocado toast, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Picture is from a good experience I had here a while back. The old avocado welded to the chair is probably not very appetizing.

Yelp
Favorite coffee shop in California. Amazing espresso, beautiful ambiance, & super yummy toast flight!! Love that there's a gift shop in there with beautifully curated items. A "sit & stay a while" spot. We ordered a delicious drink (I forget the name but it was shaken espresso with honey & sea salt) and we got a splash of half & half and it was one of the best coffees we've ever had! So yummy
google avatar

Yelp
This place has cute aesthetic and a lot of spots to sit both inside and outside . However , the food and drinks were mediocre for the price.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. If you are looking for a place to hang out and Instagram - this is your spot. If you are really hungry - check Yelp for photos before ordering we got the "sandwiches" , which were basically "English breakfast sandwiches" - my bad for not reading the fine print. For over $12 bucks - I didn't think it would be snack-size but I was wrong. Sorry I expect American-portions..not Iceland/european portions.. The orange cardamom latte was disappointing- did not have the fragrance of neither. I paid a dollar more for oat milk too. Disappointed. It was fine as a regular oat latte ...it just wasn't an orange cardamom latte..if you've ever had it in Seattle..this one just ain't it. Sorry communal. To be fair, our experience was tainted by drunk day drinkers talking loudly in the outside seating area. We would've moved except my latte took forever and we were too starving to move tables once our $12 snack arrived. Will I try this place again? Maybe..but the joints next door look more quiet and may be more worth visiting.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Oceanside for coffee and tea, and I love the cute little items they have for sale in their shop. Their food items are pricey, but they are amazingly high quality and I've never been disappointed by the menu here. Their matcha and lattes are the best.
google avatar

Yelp
Great mocha. Great company. Great vibes. I could come and sit here for hours just soaking it all in. I'll be here tomorrow. Come say hi.

Captain J.

Yelp
There doesn't seem to be a way to contact someone at this business. Ordered four sandwiches, two of them were totally different sandwiches, one had a hair. Tried calling, repeatedly. No one answers the phone. Texted the contacted number and got a response an hour later saying they issued a refund. A week later, still no sign of that refund. And guess what... they're still not answering their phone. I'm all about supporting my local business but come on, get a damn phone line! This is ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is one of the most beautiful coffee shops I've ever been to. It has a flower shop within the cafe and a cute little section for local goodies and coffee beans. I love how there's so much space indoors and outdoors for people to study and to enjoy brunch with friends! I recommend the maple sausage sandwich. It was surprisingly flavorful and juicy. The lavender honey was a solid choice as well and not too sweet. I will definitely add this to my must-do list every single time I visit Oceanside!
google avatar

Yelp
I was lured to this cafe by the beautiful pics on Yelp of its interior. This coffee shop has beautiful aesthetics! It's quite a big space with seating inside and outside. They also have a small retail section selling cute stuff and a small retail store next to it too. You can order at the counter or you can order from your table with the QR code. We didn't realize this until we had ordered at the counter and sat down at a table and noticed the QR code. I had the mint coffee which was very sweet, coffee wasn't strong enough IMO. But I did enjoy the salmon bagel, which was delish! Prices fit the ambiance of the place. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Wow the inside of communal is GORGEOUS. So many pretty colors and plants everywhere. There is plenty of seating inside and outside as well and free wifi for those who want to work. I got the ube matcha latte which is a seasonal drink. The flavors blended perfectly together and it came out super pretty. It wasn't too sweet as well which was good. The latte art was purple with ube :) If you get a coffee/ latte, don't forget to tell them if you want it hot or iced, as they will most likely give you your drink hot.
google avatar

Caroline K.

Yelp
Super beautiful aesthetic cafe! They sell floral arrangements & lots of little fun items as well. The iced americano and iced vanilla latte were good. The croissant was nice & flaky as well. You are def paying for the vibes. Lots of seating!

Christine K.

Yelp
Love the smoke show and the goat cheese toast with figs. It also has an amazing outdoor space. My kids love going because they can run around. I love it because there's enough space that we don't bother anyone! The people that work there are friendly and make great suggestions
google avatar

Alyssa N.

Yelp
I have passed by their other location in north park in the past so I was looking forward to this location. met up with a friend to do some work here and we found a table immediately :) plugs are available at most tables inside. staff was friendly, beautiful shop/cafe interior, and felt very chill. some people were doing work, others were chatting, others in phone calls. I ordered a matcha latte and the ricotta toast. matcha was so good - I like mine on the sweeter side and they have sugar and sugar alternatives on the side to fit to your liking. ricotta toast was delicious, loved the peaches and mint on it. loved the place and would come again, but my drink and the toast came out to $22. a bit pricey!
google avatar

Natalie O.

Yelp
The inside of this place is very aesthetic. I wanted to try this place because of how beautiful it looked in the inside and how good the breakfast is. I was disappointed to say the least. The servers were a bit rude and not attentive. The food was mediocre at best. I did enjoy my bagel, but it was definitely not worth its price. My boyfriend got a sausage sandwich, and it was also pretty average. If you want actual filling food, look elsewhere. I also got a matcha and it did not taste good. It tasted like water and lacked any sort of matcha flavor. I do not recommend the matcha here. All in all, if you're willing to spend a good amount of money for average food, then by all means. I would personally look elsewhere.
google avatar

Lucy M.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint. It's equally cute from what it appears on the photos. Parking was easy to find, not as congested as downtown. It was also fairly slow when we arrived so we did not wait long to order or receive our food. You do have to go up to the cashier and order your food AND the one thing I disliked about it was that I wasn't aware we had to get our drinks from the counter. And, we weren't told this, so we were waiting for our drinks most of the time until I finally got up and asked where they were! My first time there so them explaining the process would have been nice. Our food was good and affordable.
google avatar

Veronica H.

Yelp
Cute spot in Oceanside that we stopped at on the way to downtown SD. Easy detour from the freeway. Got a tasty iced latte and the maple sausage breakfast sandwich which was so delicious. Most pastries were gone by the time we got there but got the S.O. the last chocolate croissant and he loved it. Indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely atmosphere. Easy street/meter parking.
google avatar

Antoinette S.

Yelp
Drinks are great! I had a delicious Ceremonial matcha latte. However their almond danish was old, chewy and dry. I asked them if they were baked that day and they said it was from a couple of days ago, they had the audacity to charge $5 for an old baked good, moreover, they didn't offer something else nor were at all apologetic about it. These people don't know cousine better than American food.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
I'm truly bummed to be making a negative update to my review. I hadn't visited in over a month but decided to stop in this morning to treat myself to a bagel and coffee. Everything was alright (except the batch drip coffee, which I drink black, was very acidic today), the food was good as usual, the service friendly. Only after the fact did I realize my $15 ham and cheese bagel sandwich was charged as $18, simply because I'd requested an everything bagel. Nowhere on the menu does it mention everything bagels costing an extra $3, only gluten-free bagels. Though the bagel sandwich was delish, no one could justify $18 for it! I'm hoping this was an honest mistake or user error, otherwise I'm beginning to think this place is just too expensive for me to patronize any longer.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with lots of knick knacks to look at and buy! However, the service and stock of items was a bit off putting. They were out of kombucha and kefir soda by 11AM which knocked off a star for me. I had high expectations for the breakfast burrito but it sadly ended up being more tortilla than filling. I still enjoyed the salsa. The ube lemonade was definitely interesting. It tasted like a liquid pastry. The lavender lemonade was nice- not too sweet with a subtle hint of lavender. The bathroom was out of soap for 2 hours at least. Sadly, I cannot see myself eating here again.
google avatar

Katrina T.

Yelp
I want to love the Oceanside location, however the service was subpar at best. My coffee and croissant had been sitting by the barista, with no attempt to notify about whose coffee it was, and my "hot" coffee was now "lukewarm" upon receiving it. A crowd formed where we're supposed to pick up our order, and people were breathing and laughing all over the food. Overall it was poor placement, and subpar service. I enjoy communal coffee, however the South Park location has reigned supreme for quality.
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
This spot is a bit hidden but luckily I was stopping by Brixton and my wife noticed and wanted to go! Very pretty and clean inside, such a calming environment. A lot of good looking food options and some pretty satisfying coffee. A little pricy but nothing too crazy, it's pretty valid given the quality. Not amazing but definitely a good spot! Excited to try more food items
google avatar

Lori R.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with Communal. This place touts a lot of gluten free options as a selling point, but they have high cross contact and make no effort to be a place that is safe for celiac or allergies. For a place that pushes the gluten free options I feel they should make an effort to have separate toasters or a clean area. They should down play the gluten free options which are not actually gluten free due to the very high cross contact and no effort from the staff to accommodate. If you want good coffee there is plenty of competition so I'd rather hop over to vigilante down the street. If you want boho crunchy hippie vibes I guess this place is for you. But beware of their food options if you have a legitimate reason to be gluten free. If you are gluten free for the fad I guess you're good to go here.
google avatar

Lisa E.

Yelp
So obsessed with this place! A review is well over due. Each time we come to visit we make sure to stop here. The smoked salmon bagel is my favorite! (Even my 5yo loves it) I've also had their goat cheese toast which is equally amazing. And on the weekends they have VEGAN DONUTS which is such a treat for our daughter that has an egg allergy. This place is def a must!

christine r.

Yelp
Coffee was delicious. We ordered a cappuccino and a smoke show latte. Also ordered the salmon bagel and maple sandwich. Everything was divine!
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by on a quick trip to Oceanside. As in most beach areas, parking was challenging to find, and a mini cop was also patrolling the area and giving tickets. Aside from that, the service and coffee itself were solid. I ordered a cortado and it was great. Smooth flavor profile and the latte art was a nice touch. A bit pricey, but the quality is worth it. The wait was longer than I would have expected, however, and the pastry options were low at that time of day (around 2 pm). Overall, a good spot!
google avatar

Niels E.

Yelp
Used to love this place. Now waiting over 20 minutes for 2 sandwiches. Others who came after me got their sandwiches 10 minutes ago. Spent over $55 and takes over half an hour to get a couple of sandwiches?!?! Both sandwiches were wrong after waiting so long! Not what it used to be. I'll find another place from now on.

Vivian E.

Yelp
Ahh, such a beautiful space with so many little gifts! And that matcha latte, ‍ ! One of the best matchas I've had. Thank you to the lovely staff!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Service is good. Staff is nice and welcoming. Unfortunately they are a cashless venue (even though cash is legal tender) but will accept cash tips ‍. They do have gluten free options. My wife likes their Turkey Pesto Sandwich with gluten free bread. Hot chocolate is not good at all. No flavor.
google avatar

Marco C.

Yelp
One real vegan option. If they don't have the option they'll replace it with this 15 bowl. It wasn't worth it. Good staff though. Very nice

Luciane S.

Yelp
Went to this place with my husband to try something new for a weekend brunch. Line to order was huge so we ordered at the table using QR code. I wanted to add 2 eggs to my avocado toast but there wasn't an option for quantity, so only 1 egg to 2 slices of bread. Was tasty, but wish I could have more protein. Had a lavender honey latte, which was also really good. Service for me was disappointing. Food was delivered to the table but drinks we had to go and grab with the baristas, which is fine for me, but when you get there there's a lot of drinks and the barista doesn't seem to be happy to point which drink belongs to who, since there were no names and everyone was asking the same thing. Also had to ask for my sparkling water that wasn't served. Ambience was ok, nothing special IMO. I'm giving some stars for the food but this place needs a service upgrade, not pleasant to start my day with a moody barista.
google avatar

Kaylee P.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops to open up in Oceanside! The shop itself has such a cute aesthetic. It has lots of natural lighting, plant life, and cute little trinkets to browse around while you're waiting in line. It's also adjacent to a cute flower shop!! I've been here a number of times already, but I usually get their turkey pesto sandwich & whatever specialty lattes they have at the moment. Great space to get work done as long as it's not busy!! Also prepare for side street parking since they don't have an official lot for all my parking anxiety girlies lol.
google avatar

Vanessa V.

Yelp
This is such a cute, vibey coffee shop. I've been to the north park location, but I think this one might be better. There's not a ton of seating indoors, but there's more tables outside so finding a spot wasn't hard. The coffee is good, the shop has a lot of cute trinkets (nothing that I felt like buying lol but still fun to look), and the inviting atmosphere makes me feel like I could post up with a laptop and spend several hours here. If I lived in Oceanside, I'd definitely be a regular at this location
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
Ordered a large iced lavender latte & their everything bagel. The QR code worked perfectly & it was super easy to order on my phone. The service was delightful, I had my drink called out from the bar & my bagel served to my table where I was seated. The place itself is absolutely gorgeous! The skylight is beautiful. Lots of friendly people and doggos around. Definitely worth a place to go to for coffee or to do some quick work. Where I sat, there was an outlet, so charging my laptop to do work was available. (Some places don't do that you can't stay long) Will definitely be coming back to try more things!
google avatar

Pritika S.

Yelp
Bright and airy spot with a stunning, sunlit room that lifts your mood instantly. The aesthetics are on point, with a trendy vibe. The coffee is top-notch, and the brunch menu offers delicious options. Perfect for a relaxing morning or afternoon! (self service)
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
Great concept. They really are about the neighborhood they're in and being a local it's good to see them investing into the neighborhood. Great staff and coffee. A great place to hold a small business meeting or just to sit in have your coffee and read a book.

Yelp
Another 3 cheers for Communal! I opted for a non-coffee drink this time and was delighted by the sweet potato hash with Brussel sprouts and an egg lightly seasoned on top. So good! I also had a crisp seasonal kombucha that was on tap. Really refreshing for the mid-morning. Communal's atmosphere and aesthetic is light and airy with a community feel. It's always busy, but never overcrowded which is a good sign. I don't mind waiting in line because they have the best merch to peruse while you wait!
